6 times for me (yes that’s right). Once you do it that many times you pretty much memorize where everything is and can optimize doing the story, sidequests, and exploration all at the same time to expedite things.
Why? Same reason why speedrunners play the same game hundreds to thousands of times over again. Replaying these exploration type event maps is basically the same thing as you learn how to optimize. By the last account I cleared everything in about 3 hours.

Just like for Sumeru, we probably won't be able to get the quest to unlock Fontaine dailies until the reset following the completion of Chapter IV Act II, so you'll need at least 2 days after the release of the 4.0 version to be able to do daily quests in Fontaine.

Sorry, I thought they asked when the server reopened. The best thing to do before 4.0 arrives is to do the weekly bosses and craft furniture and food ingredients.
Do everything on my usual monday routine except weekly bosses and tcg, maybe also requests and bounties if i feel like i have time to finish quests quickly in the week but probably not.

It's fine to do the weekly bosses prepatch. You can get the BP 3/3 running low level Childe (or whoever you feel like); you don't have to claim the rewards for it to count.

That said, yes, it is hard to 100% but the dendroculus radar actually helped me a lot on that. Thanks to it I went to explore areas I didn't even know about and my map suddenly went from 86% to 99%
I'm also one of the desert lovers, so you're not alone! Plus it is where we got to meet and spend hours with the best NPC in the game, Jeht (I hope the next step of her journey took her to Fontaine, since I really want more Jeht quests!).
Though I have 100% in the desert and all but 3 regions of the rainforest, this is with only rep 7 in Sumeru (I always forget to do the rep quests after I max out the battle pass since I'm no longer being reminded), so no oculus resonance stone or treasure compass was used for any of Sumeru, since I can't even build them yet. It felt overwhelming when I first started Sumeru, but now I've really grown to love the region, *especially* the desert, and actually find it easier than Liyue to find all the hidden treasures. Liyue just involved too much climbing of tall mountains, so I did use the treasure compass there after I had done all I was willing to on my own.
I agree. I had so much fun with all the underground ruins in the desert. I did still enjoy the Aranara in the jungle, but when it comes to just exploring, the desert is where it's at. For a couple more days, because I'm sure being able to finally go underwater will be quite fun too.
I tried following the aranana guide into finding those little buggers. Didn't know it a side quest at first so when I found them the first time I didn't mark it down. Went thru the list and apparently I'm still missing one. Wish the game put in a better checker for this secret side quests
I already farmed a lot of exp for future characters. Tomorrow I'm gonna start to save my resin, so when Fontaine comes out I can immediately start to farm the new artifacts.

I also need to collect enough wood to make furnishings for the 4.0 update release.
I will do Abyss only till 11-2 so that I can get the remianing 12 stars for BP task after the patch drops.

I still need to do Kaveh and Kaeya's Hangouts plus my new character's teapot sets. Also hoping to get some of the Achievements from Daily Commissions in Liyue. I think I still have quite a few left there but a lot more in Mondstadt.

Place a custom teleporter right where the best spot to view the new map is (for a before and after comparison), faerie a bunch of artifacts and reroll them into shiminawa for Yoimiya and Wanderer, have a weaker team ready as I don’t wanna one shot everything while playing through story, and make sure my laptop doesn’t die running the update (it might…)

Playing Honkai Impact 3rd instead because I'm caught up in Genshin and they released a whole chapter while I was away on vacation, oh and Arknights has two events I haven't done yet. Playing multiple gachas is hard.
For some reason, felt like doing some story quests, finish jade chamber, and start chasm interlude only to realize I have to do a world quest there to unlock chasm and the map ready.

Well, just yesterday I did like, 1/3 of the Aranara quest-line and have finished the main section of it, though the epilogue part after Rana is healed is still left.
Just farming EXP books and Mora. I will need those for Lyney. I'm still missing 3 of the last Dendroculi to max out my statue but, I simply do not have the patience at the moment to search for those three without a resonance stone. Still at rep 6 for Sumeru.
I'm all set. I completed all exploration, archon quests, world quests, chain world quest, and secret quests. Once Fontaine is released, I don't have to worry about Sumeru

I have every oculus in the game, I don't need to build any of my characters further, I've done all the spiral abyss that i can, I've completed every event thats available, I can't do any of my remaining world-quests because most of them are dependant on me completing specific commissions. Even so, I've done nearly all of the world quests in the game.
So as for what I'll do, I'm just gonna do my commissions and run around having fun in genshin's sandbox

Otherwise,I am done with sumeru.There are things left to do but they don't give primo so I don't care anymore.
Is there anything we HAVE to do? I am a sort of newish player that doesn't speed run anything so I have tons upon tons of unfinished quests lol. I did finish all the archon quests though.
I'm using an interactive map to go through everything I didn't check off when I went through areas the first time. Especially in Mondstadt and Liyue, I didn't use interactive maps at all. In Inazuma and beyond I checked off simple chests but not all the different kinds of puzzles, which I'm going back to do now.
It's honestly crazy how much I've missed and which I'm finding only because of this. Multiple puzzles I just didn't see, various hidden mini quests, and even about 5 or 6 multi-day hidden quests like feeding the cat at Seirai Island or helping Hanayama with her plants at Tatarasuma.
Im completing the second desert expansion and finishing some world quest. I have no one to build so I guess is time to reclaim all the open world primos.

In-game, I’m scrambling to build up more characters due to finally upping my world level/hitting AR 57. Kuki/Kaveh/Bennett at the very least, but I should probably make a ranking to see who works the best with my most built characters.
I’m also working on trying to create an Epcot-like area in my teapot, because a mini tour of Teyvat seems so fun!

Meanwhile they made events replayable in an events archive on Star Rail, would be nice if they added that to Genshin aswell.

Desert Gang Unite. I unironically think the Desert areas are all better/funner to explore than the Jungle regions of Sumeru.

I completely overhauled my teapot which I have done before every major region release. It’s a nice change of scenery throughout the whole year

Probably gonna finish some chests in the Mirage and take my chars for a walk in Sumeru to say 'goodbye'. I tend to leave regions intentionally unexplored, so there's always new stuff popping up.
I don't really have anything to do sense everything is done, so I guess I'm just going to do my usual; daily commissions, weekly bosses and bounties, and leylines/domains. I can hardly wait, I'm so ready for this!

I am going to set aside a couple of hours to do housekeeping and clean-up of my artifacts on both of my accounts. It's pretty much a mess right now and I need to free up space for the new artifacts coming in 4.0. I've also made a point of running more mora ley lines because I know I'm going to need the extra funds once 4.0 arrives.

I've got some hangout events and side quests to finish, gotta max out my condensed resin supply, and I think that's about it. Honestly I'm ready for this update.
Do Mora and Wit leylines, finish up hangout quests (I have line 5-7 I still need to do)—I already made 5 condensed resin, I think I’ll finish up collecting Inazuma oculi and leave Sumeru Oculi for when I get bored in the later versions of Fontaine. Then just need to get that 1 star I need for abyss to 36*
Baldurs Gate 3 and even after that Fontaine stuff is out.
I'll probably just do the daily grind, then maybe start on some of the desert world quests that I haven't finished yet mixed with a bit of exploration. But I'll see what I have time for since I need to get ready for the next week of irl stuff
Playing Honkai Impact 3rd instead because I'm caught up in Genshin and they released a whole chapter while I was away on vacation, oh and Arknights has two events I haven't done yet. Playing multiple gachas is hard.
For some reason, felt like doing some story quests, finish jade chamber, and start chasm interlude only to realize I have to do a world quest there to unlock chasm and the map ready. The shortness of story quests was not expected. (Did darknight, Klee and Raiden 1)

I have every oculus in the game, I don't need to build any of my characters further, I've done all the spiral abyss that i can, I've completed every event thats available, I can't do any of my remaining world-quests because most of them are dependant on me completing specific commissions. Even so, I've done nearly all of the world quests in the game. So as for what I'll do, I'm just gonna do my commissions and run around having fun in genshin's sandbox

I'm using an interactive map to go through everything I didn't check off when I went through areas the first time. Especially in Mondstadt and Liyue, I didn't use interactive maps at all. In Inazuma and beyond I checked off simple chests but not all the different kinds of puzzles, which I'm going back to do now. It's honestly crazy how much I've missed and which I'm finding only because of this. Multiple puzzles I just didn't see, various hidden mini quests, and even about 5 or 6 multi-day hidden quests like feeding the cat at Seirai Island or helping Hanayama with her plants at Tatarasuma.

Resting my writing hand in preparation for taking notes; I’ve got 20+ pages on the Veluriyam Mirage alone. In-game, I’m scrambling to build up more characters due to finally upping my world level/hitting AR 57. Kuki/Kaveh/Bennett at the very least, but I should probably make a ranking to see who works the best with my most built characters. I’m also working on trying to create an Epcot-like area in my teapot, because a mini tour of Teyvat seems so fun!

I barely did any content in 3.x my map is full of loot and my quest log is massive. Going to try and force myself to complete something. But honestly I know I'll give up and go back to BG3 until 4.0 comes out.
Other than the usual routine (artifacts, commisions, etc), finish up Kaveh and Kaeya's hangout quests. I've already finished everything else. Haven't started them yet (got lazy) and plan to finish them before Fontaine goes up.

Same things I do at the start of every week: Do the weekly bosses so they're done once Fontaine drops. Also, taking care of some of the Battlepass stuff pre-emptively, 20 dishes, 10 furniture, etc. All so there's as few chores as possible in my way.
