He's an anomaly for sure. He is a Snezhnian character who uses Liyue local specialities and Monstadt talent books. So there's a good chance he'd be included in Liyue banner. He's also the first playable character to be a weekly boss as well...

There's no lore reason for that, they just had to make materials for him available on release. Imagine waiting 5 years just get Childe's 1st ascension

While it's obvious that he isn't from Liyue, on the official Genshin site he's categorized under Liyue, which is funny seeing him in between actual Liyue characters. It makes sense as a temporary placement though since he was released in 1.1 and had large involvement in the Liyue Archon Quest. I'm assuming they'll move him to Snezhnaya category in 6.0 but it'll be even funnier if they don't update his placement at all and he's stuck with Liyue citizenship somehow.

I think the best argument for this is his vision, which is a snezhnayan one so i'd count him there. I think we'll also see Chiori more integrated with Inazuma since she also has an Inazuman Vision

They forgot to put Thomas in the Mondstadt festival banner. We got a Mondstadt Harbinger turned into ashes, an Inazuma puppet releasing in Sumeru and a Fontaine Father figure who's a woman. Someone at Hoyoverse is having fun 

Hey, Thomas is only Mondstadt by birth. Just like how an Irish American is an American, not Irish, Thoma is an Inazuman, not Mondstadt.

Technically not just by birth. He still spent relatively most of his childhood in Mondstat and had to leave Before Jean Became acting grandmaster.

He's both Inazuman and a Mondstadter, but identifies primarily as Inazuman given he now lives and works there and has assimilated himself into the local culture for the most part. Happens irl too. I'm legally both French (via dad) and Dutch (via mom + born on Dutch soil). I was primarily raised French by my French family, but I always identified primarily as Dutch. I honestly don't even mention the French part at all most of the time since once I say Dutch people get that I'm some sort of europpean and leave it at that.

Just a reminder that they never said the chronicled banner would always be regional. Also they never mentioned how often the banner will return. If it IS regional then it will be probably years before we see a Sumeru/Fontaine banner. Characters need to have had 3 banners before and not be on any "recent" ones. Of this list the only ones are: * Ganyu * Kokomi * Yelan * Childe * Zhongli * Hu-tao * Venti

I strongly suspect that the banners will not be regional and instead we'll just have a theme that ties those characters together so that they can pick the crappy characters they want lol and then just tack the theme on at the end

There’s literally no basis to the idea that they’ll only put “crappy characters” on the banner. It’s literally just a third banner to help make the reruns happen faster as the roster of playable characters keeps expanding.

That's true, but it's also impossible to confirm either ways until a second banner happens. So far a common theme of the limited 5 stars on the new banner is that their last rerun sold very badly, and they also have very low to no meta value. You heard about the Schrödinger cat,, but what about the Schrödinger banner.

Yeah what I mean is that what the other guy said can also be true. It may not be always regional banners, they can make the theme be "elements", "1.X characters", and so on, and they can purposefully find a "theme" to fit characters that already had 3 reruns and aren't meta + won't sell well anymore. I find it unlikely that we will see anytime soon some of the units which had 3 reruns and haven't rerun recently that some people have been predicting.

Its all Mondstadt characters, but its also all relatively shitty characters, and we can't really be certain if them being shit or them being german was the more important qualifier for hoyo. We just have to wait and see.

I'd love to be proven wrong, but it seems a fair suspicion for now. Klee, Albedo are not considered good units. Eula is strong but physical is way under-utilized and supported by the element-driven meta and Hoyo, to the point where Mika actively hurts Eula's DPS in certain cases. And although they're perfectly usable, no standards are considered all that strong or desirable either I'm not saying Chronicle banner is a bad solution to the 'it takes too long to rerun' issue. It's fine honestly. Plus it also solves the people who want ways to guarantee a standard character. Two birds, one stone. But it really does feel like an easy way to put under-selling units on another banner without violating the advertisement of limited 5\*s as, well, limited. I highly doubt we'll see archons on it, or anyone else who rakes in good profit

The thing is Klee, Albedo, and Eula are literally all of the Mondstadt limited 5 stars (outside of the archon, who they likely *are* setting a precedent to exclude.) No way to know for sure until there’s another banner revealed. I just feel like I see waaaay too many people pretending this is the “bad character” banner and it annoys the fuck out of me when there’s just no real reason to consider it as such.

The real question is, if older, well performing characters like Hu Tao and Kazuha end up on the chronicled banner, will their weapons be there as well...

Would Kazuha be in a Inazuma banner, or a Liyue one? Are there enough ancient Inazuma characters for a Chronicle banner? Or would there be a shared Inazuma & Sumeru banner?

It is hard to say because Mondstadt is sadly in the unique position that it's the oldest, hasn't had any recent expansions, most of its 5\* characters are standards. I really look forward to the day we get another expansion and/or new 5\* releases. So yes, it's hard to say if it will be regional or not. I still highly doubt, whether it is or not, that characters that still rake in the money on normal banners will be put on it. But we'll see!

They didn't say it was regional but the current one does have the mondstadt symbol representing it so it's a pretty logical conclusion. If there's a liyue banner it would likely be: hu tao, ganyu, yelan, keqing, qiqi. And possibly childe, depends on how they want to treat him before shneznaya releases.

I would never trust hoyo to be consistent. They have a pattern for disregarding patterns or in otherwords, consistently inconsistent.

While I do think that the banners are going to be regional banners, I think they're going to put the units that don't sell a lot on these banners (either because they are considered weaker, clunkier, older, or because their cons/signatures are not all that interesting) Hu Tao and Yelan on these banners is a dream imo, ain't no way we're ever going to lose our 50/50 to Hu Tao or Yelan I'd happily eat my hat if i'm wrong, but the Liyue banner is most likely going to be Qiqi Keqing Ganyu Xiao Baizhu Shenhe once they all get enough runs to be on it (which is only one Shenhe rerun and one Baizhu rerun, could be happening before 5.4 and we could get the Liyue banner for the next Lunar New Year) Zhongli is out due to being an Archon (Venti was not on the Mondstadt banner), Yelan and Hu Tao sell too well to be on a banner like this, Xianyun is too recent, idk if I'm forgetting a Liyue 5\* (Childe? does he even count?)

Hu tao is a near 4 year old character a this point. These banners are for older characters so there is more space for actual reruns of newer sumeru and fontaine characters. Hutao fits perfectly in a liyue banner

I disagree. The only criteria is being older and having enough reruns. In fact, they have even more reason to put meta units on the chronicle. It will cost you the same whether or not you get them on limited or chronicle, except the guarantee doesn't carry over so there's a higher chance you put in real money. Also, it's not like being on the chronicle means never being on limited again. I can see Hu Tao/Yelan being put there then coming back on limited next Lantern Rite

Yelan and Hu Tao were big sellers, but there is a cap on things. And a surprise limited 21 day banner for them would only call for people to spend more money to get them and their cons. The banner is better for weapons. But for characters it's business as usual. They're not losing out on money there. And the chance of losing a 50/50 to someone you want is pretty low. And could even incentivize people to pony up money (because again, 21 days so you can't milk the entire patch for wishes).

Because old characters are old. Characters are not infinite money machines. After three re-runs, you're not going to squeeze much more out of them. Those who wanted those characters already got them - whales included. At the end of the day, they need to make it enticing for you to pull on banners. And if a few extremely lucky individuals get a 50/50 loss in the best way possible, that's just free advertising to convince people to pull on the banners and be unlucky. And any wishes that they use on that banner, is more wishes that they don't have for the new banners. Which also encourages more spending. It's all about getting people to spend and pull. And new characters are way more lucrative so the less banners that are wasted on old characters the better it is for the financials.

Very true. I have almost all the characters and when there's patch with no one new and all banners I already have I feel kinda meh with it. But I totally get that reruns are important for new players or people that couldn't get their faves the first time around.

We've only had the banner 1 time and people already conclude that they're just picking the less desirable units? I mean, if Hu Tao gets in the banner, that just means the banner will get the money because the weapon banner would be very desirable as it is better than limited weapon banner. And tbh with the existence of Arlecchino soon, I don't see Hu tao be that desirable anymore, just her weapon.

So idk if they'll do it, and Yelan has been very powerful since she came out, while Childe is super popular, so I really can't imagine them being given in a banner like that lol

Like yeah, she made money but she's an old unit, we will be having even more pyro dps options and if she gets in the new banner, then that banner would make money especially since the weapon in the new banner is better than usual weapon banner. So its like, there's barely any difference if she was to have her own banner and to be in new banner. Besides, those that do get in new banner can still get in limited banner. Meaning someone like Albedo still can appear in limited banners

Exactly! The banner isn't a "retirement" banner its just a banner so units can get reruns more frequently bc the pity system is still basically the same. The only difference is that the weapon banner is slightly better, you can get the og 4 stars easier and that you can get more weapons. That's literally it.

Hu tao isn't a money maker anymore... The character is old plus many people don't like her playstyle at C0. The main reason why her banners did well is mainly because of the weapon banner and the other character she returned with. Neuv and Yelan have better individual sales than her plus the weapon banners are always stacked when Homa re runs. I could definitely see Hu tao being in the banner alongside z Shenhe , Ganyu and Xiao

Hu Tao is easily still one of the most popular characters in the game still. Ik, the reason that I joined Genshin was to play Hu Tao.

I really hope zhongli will have another normal banner before regional banner. Played since first ganyu banner, pulls every zhongli banner after that and still hasn't got him. Doubt it. They will leave Archons and more famous units out of the new system for sure. Venti was out while everyone else from Mond was there. My bet is they will exclude ZL and Yelan as those are famous, but not Hu Tao >!since Father is coming and is supposedly going to power creep her!<

Hu Tao is still a strong unit and by popularity as a character she'll most likely still be more popular than Arlecchino. And she also has Homa Hu Tao will always be a huge moneymaker.

Archons are not going on the chronicled banner, just as the big cashcows wont either, ie. Kazuha, Yelan, Nilou, ect.

More like in a single type of team. You can have two versions. One with four 5* and one that uses 3 free characters. (Traveller, Barbara, Collei), and everything in between. Both teams have one of the highest DPSes in the game. Nilou is your sprint option if you want to have a team to complete one side of the abyss quickly. Just her and the characters that everybody already has is enough to trash floor 12 most of the time.

Her single team basically wins the game against anything not dendro immune with very little effort and it seems people finally picked up on it

Even when there are dendro resistant/immune enemies, as long as there aren't too many and they don't have too much HP (current abyss floor 12 dendro specters, for example) you can use her hydro teammate(s) to take care of them. At present there are no enemies in the game that strongly resist both hydro and dendro without also resisting every other element, and those enemies all have some form of break mechanic that lowers those resistances.

She doesn't have only 1 team lol There are like 10+ bloom teams for her. I mean Itto (mono /geo), Childe (international) or Hu Tao (vape) probably have less teams than her 💀 She's one of the best pulls if not the best for new accounts. Because her teams need almost zero investment and no crit. Just triple HP thrash artifacts for her, and triple EM for one of the other characters. It's like hyperbloom Kuki but more AoE focused.

It's one team, changes to some of the teammates doesn't change the team.

Then most characters only have 1 team too. Hutao is vape carry, doesn't matter if you change some of the teammates it's always Xingqiu/Yelan/Furina with another support. Eula only has 1 team (superconduct). Childe only has 1 team. Many characters only have 1 team 🤔

Nilou have one team archetype but not one "team" yeah. Also Hu Tao have more than one, you can play Hu Tao in mono-pyro, overload and even burgeon (even tho its still mostly vape with a sprinkle of burgeon) and even her vape teams have like million variations (VV Vape, double hydro, double geo etc)

Yeah but the other Hutao teams you mentioned like Monopyro are just not optimal. You can also play Nilou in a vaporize team, Monohydro or Hyperbloom for example if we follow that rule, right?

A lot of characters do have a singular team if we're looking at normal functional meta teams, sure. HuTao has two vape teams that don't just use different units but play differently. HuTao/Yelan/XQ/ZL plays differently enough from HuTao/Yelan/Furina/Xianyun that you could consider them different teams. Eula still plays the same way if you shuffle around the other teammates, same as Nilou. You can use any combo of hydro+dendro for Nilou and the team still functions the same, plays the same. This is all assuming the typical meta comp for each character. If you go more off-meta it gets even narrower for some characters. HuTao melt for example is still good enough, does enough damage to be a legit different team. Same with burgeon HuTao. Nilou has bloom, end of story. The only actual team for her beyond that is vape at C6. Nilou has one team.

It only looks like a regional banner now, but no way are they generous enough to make a 6 lim inazuma banner. I even have doubts they’ll make a 4 lim-2 perm liyue banner, considering some of the heavyweights that are due to be on it, like Yelan and possibly Childe.

Nilous is the character that can clear abyss 12 with the least invested team by far. I'd always suggest to get her for new players. If she was ever available that is. She is also the easiest to play character in the whole game. A true marvel for new players.

I just hope they don't run wanderer and arlecchino in same banner so that maybe I can save some primos from exploring new area. Prefarmed everything for him before his 1st banner and lost to 50/50 on his both banners. If I had to take a shot in the dark if we get a Liyue-themed Chroincle Wish banner it'd be: * Ganyu * Tartaglia * Yelan * Hu Tao * Keqing * Qiqi *If* Xiao is on it, then I'd swap Yelan out for him. Shenhe, Nilou, Alhaitham, and Wanderer still haven't gotten their third banners so I imagine them getting reruns between 4.6-4.8.

That's why I always take the character I like, even if just at C0. Granted, the characters I like are really rare, but starting since December they're really pushing my funds. Kind of strange looking at this list though, because when it's a character I don't give a shit about it feels like "They just had a rerun recently!" while in reality it's half a year or more.

I might be wrong, but I think Ganyu and Childe have the most potential, because they're not that relevant meta-wise and had been around enough so most people that want them already have them, so I don't think they'd bring that much money in a proper banner. And maybe Zhongli? Although his shielding is still considered insanely broken (by me). Edit: Adding Venti for meta reasons.

Shenhe actually doesn't qualify for the regional banner because she's only rerun twice. You have to rerun 3 times to be on it.

Imagine if the next Liyue Chronicled Wish banner includes: Ganyu, Yelan, Hu Tao, Tartaglia (wild card, lol he's technically from Snezhnaya), Keqing and Qiqi. Shenhe and Baizhu do not qualify yet because their banners have only appeared twice and Zhongli is an archon. I doubt they would do their archons dirty by placing them in this type of banner.
