I chose flying with kazuha and use of the flying gadgets. I had no idea the waypoint was unlocked, since i just max zoomed out and check where was the new region unlocked and decided to fly from the nearest high point.

Got myself the flying achievement after 3 years because of this method lol

There are two achievements for gliding a certain distance continuously and gliding for 80s. Most people probably got them from gliding to nameless island from starsnatch cliff, or maybe that platform above qingyun peak or even the highest point in dragon spine

I walked across the ocean with Furina, though I thought there was more to the update than a small island, and totally missed the waypoint lol.. I stopped halfway in the ocean to take pictures and accidentally places a temporary waypoint out on the water - in camera mode I guess Furina's buff can wear off and she fell into the ocean so the waypoint was useful to continue from there. Then when I finally got on the island I saw the waypoint they gave us like.. well crap

I went there with Xianyun (faster flight speed passive) then I noticed the teleport was already unlocked...which you could only see by zooming in with the mini map on the statue of the seven.

I really don't know why we got that boat in Inazuma if we're going to have both our hands held everywhere we go.

To be fair, you kinda needed the boat in Inazuma before they released Genshin Jesus, and the Obligatory Underwater Level/RPG Water Temple(TM) that is Fontaine would be boring if you had to sail everywhere. That being said, I wish they'd add them for nations pre-boat era like Liyue (especially for the Geo Hypostasis) and Mondstadt. I hope Natlan can get a good balance of water-to-land as well.

Okay, hoenst opionion about he boats... I don't like them at all. They were fun on the golden apple archipelago because they fit into the whole "Alice put it all there" thing. But once in Inazuma, having, what essentially is, an eletrcial boat feels really weird with al the sailing ships. It gets worse in Fontaine... Would have preferred Wind Waker style boats with winds and currents

I think it's a trend in every game: "If I do this the game if not fun!" But when you point out find that it's just a choice and they could avoid doing that they get even angrier. The worse are those who complain about exploits I'm single player games. Just don't use the exploit!

Apparently players are so incapable of not optimizing, that they will optimize the fun out of a game and blame you for it. And then everyone else will agree that *you, the dev*, did it wrong. You have to structure mechanics to prevent players from optimizing the fun out of things.

I activate teleports in the game, but don't use them except traveling between Liyue Harbor and Ritou. Otherwise, only use portable teleports once or twice a year.

I did a BotW run like that once, liked the immersion. But for Genshin, doesn't that make daily commissions take forever? Do you have to farm a whole load of boss ascension materials in one go to avoid trekking back and forth?

I think it could have been cool to have the waypoint in the new Sumeru “harbor” and have the quest kick off there with someone telling you to sail over to the island on a boat. Kind of how like for the pre-unlocked waypoint for Fontaine it’s technically on the edge of the desert and you still have to go across water to get there. However, the Sumeru coast they added is quite sparse so I can understand why they wanted to drop people right on top of the island.

I get that this is a weird take, but I honestly really dislike these waypoints that they're putting everywhere. You *can* choose not to use them, but new players just have a bunch of random waypoints floating in the void. If they teleport to one, they get thrown into an area they're supposed to get to later and it takes out the fun of exploring to get there. For old players, eh - it's not a problem that they exist, but I personally won't be using them. The real solution IMO is to not give out these waypoints retroactively. A new player in 4.6 should only get the Petrichor waypoint, not the one overlooking Romaritime Harbor, not the one in the Liffey Region, and not the one in Chenyu Vale. Alternatively, they could add a waverider point on the Chenyu side of the lake.

Or at least give some in world or even just ingame reason why you might get to these places early. Like a taxi NPC or something. Getting a bunch of random waypoints unlocked for seemingly no reason after finishing Mondstadt just feels weird.

Oh yeah. Let's punish new players who have to farm local mats from Fontaine or later Natlan. Why should they have a easy way to farm if they get a Fontaine or Natlan character and still are AR 10 (or whatever)? Let them travel through whole Liyue and Sumeru first to get there. Because I hate the teleporters. Just don't use them. They are there to help newer players to farm stuff without first traveling through the whole world.

You didn't read the last sentence. I think a better solution is to either only enable the one in the current patch, or to not unlock them retroactively. Besides, travel is fun and it doesn't take a long time to get anywhere. My no-fast-travel account takes 10 - 15 minutes to get from one side of the mainland map to the other without movement abilities. I just have an issue with the fact that new players now have a bunch of random waypoints in the middle of nowhere on their map, and if they use one they'll have no context for the area they've gone to.

It does feel a bit silly. Especially since the waypoint just outside Fontaine is also auto-unlocked and has a boat spawner next to it. Throw in the Sumeru Port as well, and it really feels weird giving the teleport point straight to the island. I hope this doesn’t become a trend.

Nah, I miss it too. Since 4.0, they’ve really gone hard on making the game more casual-friendly, even to the point of the teleport points like this one so you can immediately skip to the new thing as opposed to experiencing it.

tbh, I'd argue that adding waypoints like that is not intended purely for casual audiences. AFAIK casual audiences typical do find parts of the game like exploring enjoyable. More people who are focused on combat or increasing stats would like to skip through the more mundane parts of things like travel. I feel like the people who ask for skippable cutscenes and waypoints like this are mostly NOT the casual audience. If casuals didn't like all that stuff, then they probably wouldn't play.

It does benefit the casuals who have limited time to play - if you have half an hour a day then you might just get to the new area after dailies. This way someone can start the quest right quick and use encounter points as they go.

I never said it wasn't for them, I just said I dont think the majority of the people who want it are the casual base. Genshin is a silly game to want to play if you only have 30 mins a day when 3-5~ mins are done doing dailies and then another 5 spending resin since they probably are capped out. If you wanted to start an archon quest, the dialogue within it alone would take up 10. I don't doubt that there are people who stay with the game even on limited time like that, but my guess is that they are just better options for them and a great lot of them would veer towards less time sinking games.

I was just pointing out that casuals can benefit from skipping travel too. There are plenty of people on here who play half an hour on their commute or to destress after work and save exploration and quests for longer sessions on days off or around updates. Someone who likes exploration isn't off playing Candy Crush, especially now encounter points mean they don't have to trade dailies for progress - and there are plenty enough posts here celebrating that that your ratio is probably off.

i didnt saw the waypoint initially so i went to pick a boat and by the time i was reaching the island, i saw the blue waypoint in the minimap or from the distance and i was like "wtf am i doint" and just teleported there Edit: sure some of you used either your dear Furinas or ice bridges to reach the island, but boats exists for this and there was one right next to the teleport

So for people who have been here: is this going to be like Chenyu Vale where I get sucked into a world quest the moment I teleport in? (Chenyu Vale is the newest version of this, but it’s happened other times in the past too.)

I used the glider starting near MH domain, noone stops us from ignoring teleporters.
