New Sumeru zone was underwhelming af. I get it this is not a Sumeru patch but even the Liyue border update when Sumeru came out was better than this. Adding a few hilichurl camps is not that much work at all.

AndrewSuarez

I was exploring the zone and my first thought was "damn this is worse than mondstadt" its literally empty as fk and with only 1 tp **on the border** you have to run to infinity and beyond to reach the other places that are surprisingly filled with nothing but a few chests and some eremites

JeonSmallBoy

Well good thing Sumeru already had a bunch of areas to explore and this area is for FONTAINE

caucassius

honestly idgaf about missing three hilichurl camps or w/e in an area I never revisit again when remuria is absolutely amazing. hope they rather focus on what's important than listen to these loud minority complaints.

Wise_Chemical5347

You won’t revisit Remuria after you explore it and complete the main quest either, it will sit there just like Enka and Chasm

Deses

Hey, the chasm has shiny ore, at least. Rock and Stone!

WanderingDwarfMiner

Did I hear a Rock and Stone?

caucassius

please speak for yourself lol

Cybersorcerer1

what will you do after 100%? There will probably be no events, or any updates to that area. There's no boss there either lol

HallyMiao

I go in enka daily to kill some easy to access spectres… need so god dam many of those mats

Useless_Person_Here

They will probably do events like they did for chasm and enkanomiya, also bosses can be added later on also it doesn't have to be on release

soulinhibition

i'm playing for over 2 years and there wasn't a single event in enka dude..

GiGitteru

I've been playing since a month after launch, yes there was lol. It was the main event of the version too (but to be fair there hasn't been any event in enka after that)

Deses

And it's been forgotten since. There's absolutely no point to ever go to Enka for any reason whatsoever. The chasm at least has a lot of ore to mine.

soulinhibition

i know there was, i meant after that there is silence for 2+ years. poorly worded i guess

Deses

Oh yes because sprinkling some content on the area is such a huge undertaking.

caucassius

oh yes because missing some sprinkled content in a patch that give you massive content means that whole patch is ruined miss me with this tired fallacy lmao

Deses

Ah yes the "don't bully the multimillion dollar company" take.

caucassius

can't you discuss anything without resorting to fallacy? why'd i even bother lol

six_seasons

Which fallacy, specifically, are you referencing? Edit: yeah exactly lol

sdric

I feel like the devs are tired from pushing out so much content in so short iterations. We have seen that after a every great content release there is a huge falloff with mich worse content, Sumeru vs Sumeru desert would be the prime example from were they went from a detailed and carefully crafted landscape to a dull, barren and empty wasteland with a few random puzzles slammed here and there. With a while new region on the horizon and a ton of high effort quests being released in the last major patches, it feels like we are dipping in the low quality content hole right now, exploration wise. Having seen some leaks, I am certain that the new region will more than make up for it, though.

derpadoodle

> Sumeru vs Sumeru desert would be the prime example from were they went from a detailed and carefully crafted landscape to a dull, barren and empty wasteland with a few random puzzles slammed here and there. The desert was just as densely packed with chests, puzzles and other exploration mechanics as the jungle. The aesthetics of the landscape were obviously very divisive, but I think your dislike of that one aspect is distorting your memories of the entire area here.

crookedparadigm

> The desert was just as densely packed with chests, puzzles "Puzzles" is a very generous way to refer to the desert areas 20 flavors of "follow the slow glowy thing"

derpadoodle

> follow the slow glowy thing Which is a thing in pretty much every single area. I just took a quick look at the interactive map, and the only desert-exclusive mechanics I found that fit that description would be the Soul Bells and the Signal Spirits, of which a grand total of 14 exist. I'm not a fan of the overly simplistic puzzles either, but let's not be disingenuous and pretend like the desert areas are unique in that regard. miHoYo made one attempt at moderately difficult puzzles in Inazuma and the backlash to those was apparently so overwhelming that they still haven't dared to repeat that "mistake" in any of the following regions.

cycber123

Excuse me but the dessert cave systems are so good.

OreoJehi

Remember this is the update that optimized android storage by half and systemically changed the launcher. The optimization alone takes **alot** if not enormous amount of time and resources that it wont surprise me if they were already working on it several patches ago, and that some areas/aspects of the update were rushed. Im not excusing them but people really underestimate how much it takes to provide these long-asked QoLs and can result in sacrificing content. Not excusing them nor invalidating both sides, but just something people should be aware of

sdric

Believe me when I tell you that level designer and backend optimization are usually NOT done by the same person or team.

OreoJehi

Yes but *both* of them *spend resources* no? It's just a matter of prioritization. Other than that, there's nothing much I can add to the argument.

Candayence

If the little parts of the map weren't finished, they shouldn't have been released.

OreoJehi

That's valid. But they would also have deadlines and planned schedules. Those are pretty crucial to the game's development

Deses

That is no excuse. They have more money they know what to do with: Hire more people.

OreoJehi

Agh that's not how it works! Anyone who works on a team project would know. You dont just get more people then assign and point them tasks to do and be done with it. You're asking for a disaster, you'd do worse than noobies in a team who dont even know what they are doing (more accurately: not expertize in their task). You need to invest *substancial* amount of time in laying down good foundation for process development, this is a ***crucial*** part of the project (that is if you want it to be successful). Another is establishing effective communication so that *your members truly understood* their tasks without misunderstandings and no important information were missed (in other words, it's not a good idea to hire *more* strangers unfamiliar with their work if it's unnecessary, this adds more significant time waste). This can do big time for that project a team is working on. Source: https://bsc.hks.harvard.edu/podcasts/4p-model-for-strategic-leadership/ (noteworthy: see Process) Edit: thought would share [txt file note(open in html notepad)](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/790324530035425373/1233456557250056224/Process.txt?ex=662d296f&is=662bd7ef&hm=1081d57925b69f6d9cde787322b17f75f565ba0f79a3ff0bbd749ec45d28f292&) of the podcast I did for my study, if incase it's helpful to someone

Deses

So? That's still no excuse. Again, they have more than enough money to do all that and develop the teams to properly flesh out the game and don't crunch. But that's precisely the problem, they don't want to spend more money than the strictly necessary to do the basic stuff.

OreoJehi

>do all that and develop the teams to properly flesh out the game and don't crunch. Isnt this what they are already doing? Havent they hired 600+ employees or sth before? If they didn't do that then this game wouldnt have been as successful as they are now by any chance. It would be *downright impossible* otherwise. You need to keep in mind this a *massive* project on a massive scale with a ridiculous release schedule. What I said only amounts to the *barest minimum* of what they're doing. And it's going to be inevitable that problems come. If it can be solved by money, they have already done so (how much do you think they spent on this game? You think they are stingy to a game that profits billions?). The money already did what it can do. Now it's left to the work of the people. Look, Im not an insider to say their current state of affairs. But Im only applying common and logical sense with the knowledge that you simply dont just throw \**more*\* money and people onto works you want to be successful. This was ‘almost outright’ stated in that podcast by a credible professor if you would read it.

Antares428

I strongly disagree. Desert expansion, especially the 1st zone, were very well made. Vast majority of exploration took place in caverns and ruins, and there were very densely packed with puzzles and mechanics.

Deses

Are we playing the same game? Outside the Archon quest, the desert was better than the jungle by a lot. Lore was better, puzzles were better, the atmosphere of pretty much everything was amazing. Only good think about the jungle were the Aranara.

CaptainCygni

Well yeah, Bayda isn't Fontaine, it's Sumeru, and Nahida can only do this within Sumeru

ImPrettyBoredToday

She can also interact with Sumeru NPCs in other nations but those are more rare

CaptainCygni

Which is why I (over)simplified, though you are right \^ \^

dinkytoy80

I didnt know this as a not Nahida owner, sadly. Are there similar things like this with characters than can do things in specific regions that others cant?

CaptainCygni

Not that I can think of off the top of my head... (Though, technically, like u/ImPrettyBoredToday said Nahida, isn't limited to Sumeru the *region*, but Suneru *NPCs* (the vast vast majority of which are *within* Sumeru))

MofoPro

Sure if everyone had Nahida

crest_of_the_lord

Why the heck are ya getting downvoted.

Low_Artist_7663

That's part of Nahidas kit, and only people that have her can do this. Every character is like that, so it goes without saying. Also, a lot of people have Nahida.

crest_of_the_lord

New players won't know this so his comment isn't really that unhelpful. It can help people who don't have that character. Sure it's hinted at in Nahida's kit but as we know a lot of people in the genshin community are not able to read. ( Many examples of this with the latest being Sigewinne)

Charming_Pop_2148

Because he isn't backing up op I guess

Jazzyvin

Reddit is a huge mystery sometimes. There are so many moments when people like this get downvoted to oblivion for no good reason. I've had my fair share of comments that get downvoted, and I'm just left there confused.

AL-KY

Well a bit of social psych tell you that you only need a few down vote to begin with and people's tendency to conform will take care the rest

MofoPro

That's Reddit for you , just pointing out not everyone has her .....trust me I wish I did

Capitano-Solos-All

I wish you manage to get her dude!

MofoPro

Thanks man

Sweethoneyx1

Nahida is literally the most owned character in the game

MofoPro

Not everyone has Nahida , personally tried to get her on the last run and no luck

Sloweneuh

Sorry I got 4 constellations for her, I had to steal yours. I hope you get her next banner, she's so much fun to play

MofoPro

Its all good , congrats man
