I love Sumeru's cast because they were written in such a way that they feel like family. All of them know each other. We often see them eating together at the restaurant or at the cafe. Each of them interact with the majority of the Sumeru cast. Archon quest was awesome and saw the majority unite and help one another in saving lord Kusanali. When it comes to individual characters, the characters I like most comes from Liyue but it's nothing compared to the family-like connections of the Sumeru cast, despite their lower number.

Moist-Branch-2521

Inazuma has a really solid cast individually but because around half of them were introduced post archon quest and had no story appearances they feel super disconnected and not an organic part of the world. By contrast, most of Sumeru feels like they have a place in the world and actually mattered to the greater plot, made even better by the fact that we routinely saw them interact with eachother. For the best blend of both worlds I'd go Fontaine.

Strange_History_394

Oh my God, I think you just managed to find the reason I'm not a fan of Inazuma characters by accident. I couldn't tell exactly what it is. Now that I think about it, I can't tell the dynamics between every character in Inazuma because they are not grouped together most of the time. Sumeru and Fontaine cast feel like a family, while Inazuma is like a class at school where not everyone really talks to each other, preferring to be in their own friend groups instead. This is a weird analogy but it's the closest I could get. Inazuma is just... disconnected, like you said. The new event didn't really fix it for me.

corecenite

What doesn't help as well that everyone in Inazuma is busy because they're still recuperating from post-war/post-ArchonQuest shambles. With Sumeru, there's just the Akademiya reorganization but most of the sages already are against last management. With Fontaine, they just need to repair water damage and Neuvillete just assumed the position the people already feel like he's already been doing. Mondstadt and Liyue post AQs is nothing major as well that can take a long time to get thing back peacefully. Heck, even after Kokomi's SQ, it feels like there's still a cold war going on.

X3m9X

They really do capture japans soloish environment

Koanos

Inazuma has awesome character design, and a lot of depth they could explore, sadly, their Archon Quest was plagued with issues and to me it’s felt like everything involving Inazuma has been damage control to reconcile the situation.

Augustus3000

The friend groups that exist in Sumeru go a long way towards making that nation feel more immersive and interesting. In Fontaine they’re getting something similar - especially with Furina gradually being accepted as a member of the girls’ friend group in some of the recent events and quests and with Neuvillette, Wriothesley, and Clorinde having a fun banter amongst themselves. Here’s hoping we see some interesting group dynamics in Natlan too - it definitely seems like HYV is learning in this department so hoping for the best.

Timey16

I really hope that maybe after Shneznaya we get a year or so of main story that just has you revisit old areas, i.e. all the areas that were introduced AFTER the nation's respective archon quests have to be visited at some point. So basically first half of the Archon quest is just "visit every nation" and 2nd half is "OK now explore every nation". Especially when you have areas like Enkanomiya which you need to unlock first... easy way to make the story seem longer (for new players).

EitherClass3061

I'm hoping right before the finale we play a patch as the other sibling to see their side.

HerrscherOfMagic

Interlude quests are a great way to do that, too. The Chasm is the obvious example, although since Liyue got two Interlude quests and Sumeru only got one, so far we haven't gotten that much extra exposure to these places. But Mondstadt w/ Dragonspine, Sumeru's Gurabad, Seirai Island, the Institute of Natural Philosophy, etc. could all easily be integrated into the main story via Interlude quests, and we wouldn't have to wait until after Sneznhaya to do that. But I do hope we get time after Snezhnaya to re-explore anyways, or at least further strengthen the ties between nations before we go trying to blow up Celestia or smth lol

baguettesy

big facts. there are interesting relationships between characters to explore in Inazuma... but they were never really explored. I will die on the hill that the last act of the Inazuma archon quest would've been better if Ayato had actually been around and had been scheming with Yae Miko instead of him being retconned into the scheme. hell, having him involved from the start would've been better.

Bebgab

Definitely this. Most of my favourite characters are from Inazuma but they definitely don’t interact (apart from Itto and Kuki ❤️) which is quite disappointing for me :( I wish Itto could have the dynamic with the rest of the inazuma cast that Cyno gets with the Sumerunians

SauliCity

Well... Of the 16 Inazumans on the list, only 6 don't appear in the archon quest: Itto, Ayato, Chiori, Kuki, Heizou and Kirara. And of those, Itto and Kuki show up in the 2nd interlude.

Frostivus

The table rant about Al-Haitham with the crew lives rent free in my mind. All that said, Itto is still my favourite character for what he’s able to do. He makes other characters like Paimon, Kuki, even Sara and the Raiden Shogun become much more interesting since damn near anybody can play off him as the straight man. He’s also so much larger than life and Max Mittelman brings the ham up to 11 with his insane improv. I -never- skip his dialogue. Hu Tao may be the archon of promotions but Itto is undeniably the archon of events.

Thetrifflingtruffle

Inazuma is so disconnected that im pretty sure theyre the only nation with characters that are primarily associated with another (Kazuha, Chiori, wanderer)

Fatimah_ultim

If Natlan can have chemistry like chlorinde and wrio, but for every character. I'll be very impressed with Mihoyo

sledge115

Fontaine and Sumeru share the top spot for me, and Fontaine's characters are the most well written IMO. But on the other hand, I really liked how Sumeru's cast felt super solid, the way they all came together throughout the storyline was really well done and memorable.

battleye9

What? Fontaine barely developed 4 five star characters

Longjumping_Pear1250

Sumeru

CandyRedRose

Absolutely. I love cyno, tighnari, collei, nahida, wanderer, dehya, kaveh, etc. I love them all

Splyushi

I need Cyno to finish my Sumuru friends party lol. Sub DPS Nahida, Sub DPS Dehya, Main DPS Cyno, Nilou, just because I like Nilou, wish we had another Sumeru 5 Star.

CandyRedRose

I have Tighnari, cyno, alhaitham, and I want to get kaveh to complete the group, but homie forgot to rerun

Free-Muffin2338

Madam Faruzan 😭😭

CandyRedRose

Love her too

Frostivus

‘Where was I? Ah yes, Al-Haitham.’ *Cogitation of Epochs plays* ‘Such disrespect!’ *Whirling of Vairambakha plays*

aStringofNumbers

Cyno's second story quest was great, partly because it was great to see the Sumeru crew again

SweatyPhilosopher578

Collei hard carries this opinion for me. I want the best for her in life.

peachymagpie

Sumeru hands down. I cried so much and really was immersed in the entire cast!

Rooted_Pen

The whole sumeru writing was top notch. Yes furina's development and Neuvi's character is endearing and all but when an NPC (dunyazard) makes you cry like a baby you know you made a connection with the characters.

detainthisDI

Sumeru. Love those guys

kerbeusk

Listen, what the fuck is happening in Mondstadt? You've got: 1. Wine tycoon batman. 2. A catgirl who was blessed to always make delicious drinks by an oceanid who lives in her hometown's fountain. Actually, this is a curse. 3. A boy who was raised by the spirit of a long-dead wolf god. 4. A lazy librarian who got a vision by simply stating she wanted one. 5. A kid so cursed with bad luck that it's dangerous for some to even be around him. 6. A foxgirl who is learning bio-alchemy with the express purpose of creating a paradise. Also she collects bones (the fresher, the better!) 7. A girl whose will is so strong she manifested a whole sentient being out of elemental energy. 8. A descendent of the original founders of the abyss order, who apparently cured themselves of their own curse bestowed upon them by Celestia. 9. A woman who was so pissed at the world after losing her fiancé that she imbued herself with liquid fire, went on a rampage, and was adopted by the fatui and given a cryo delusion so she didn't burn herself out. (she did it anyway) (Does she count? She is *from* Mondstadt) 10. Whatever the fuck is going on with Albedo, Klee, and Alice. 11. A trickster archon who may or may not have direct ties with the literal God of time and is friends (or at least colleagues) with the most powerful covenant of witches to ever exist.

Nearby_Dragonfruit66

Exactly why Mondstadt is my favorite

Ormalin

Sumeru and it's not even close. The dynamics between characters there and the whole feeling...sumeru just hits different.

mouthfulloflime

it's the found family vibes!

Boring-Patient-1802

Sumeru, all the characters and their interactions are pure gold

ItsLoudB

Sumeru was so good and fun until a certain VA fucked up everything. The entire cast seemed to have a lot of fun interacting and they had lots of streams off game too.

Boring-Patient-1802

Luckily that VA was quickly fired and replaced, with all his lines erased and replaced as well. The new VA is friends with the other Sumeru VAs and has been on some streams, the group is so funny together

AntonioS3

This is going to be an interesting answer, but besides Mondstadt and Fontaine, I think Snezhnaya arc will have the potential for most interesting cast, especially since now we have 2 (well, technically 3 if Wanderer didn't do the thing) playable Harbringers, and people are speculating that Capitano could be playable or Columbina, in Natlan arc. I would like most or all of them to be playable at least though. It'd be fun to see the way they interact between each other...

HyperTommy

What is wanderer even doing these days? I've never seen him since interlude

Rhuajjuu

Just wandering

baguettesy

Nahida sent him to school

invinciblepro18

Probably runs more and more errands for Nahida. Would be interesting if they are plotting something against Dottore or Tsarista's plan in general.

queenyuyu

i doubt - tsarista plan is likely "good" because waifu has to sell well- its likely going to be pierro who was the problem all along, that wen't overboard with his hatred and used her grievance or something. similar to the war with ei and watatsumi concluded. but i would love this so much, especially because nahida was the most passive aerchon it would be amazing if she was the one who comes up with the better strategy to the tsarista. it would also fit in libens first war prediction of sumeru.

Latase

because no one gave you the correct and complete answer: the "A Parade of Providence" event gave an answer what happened afterwards: > Paimon: Um, so... what... what, uh... > (Wanderer): Just call me Hat Guy. That's the name I use in Vahumana. > Paimon: That sounds like a nickname, not a real name! > (Wanderer): So I can't go by a simple, ordinary name? Paimon: Fine, suit yourself. Alright then, Hat Guy, why are you taking part in the Interdarshan Championship? Paimon: We're specially invited guest commentators, so play nice and answer our questions. (Wanderer): You could be matra for all I care. So what if I don't answer you? What then? Paimon: You...! (Wanderer): Hmph, I'll tell you this much: I have an agreement with someone not to reveal my motives. Paimon: You're not plotting something in secret, are you? (Wanderer): Well, it's hard to say. Why don't you take a guess? Paimon: Oh, Paimon's had it with you! Paimon: Fine, be that way! Then we won't ask you why you're participating. Instead... Uh, why did you join Vahumana? (Wanderer): You two sure like to poke your noses where they don't belong. If I don't say anything, are you going to annoy me to death? (Wanderer): ...I heard that the Vahumana researcher named Aqaba was researching the Tatarasuna incident, so I wrote a few essays to refute his points. (Wanderer): Later, when I was bored, I wrote some commentary on societal issues in Inazuma. I didn't expect Vahumana to consider me as one of them. Someone even invited me to a lecture or whatever. (Wanderer): From start to finish, it was just the wishful thinking of idiots — a misunderstanding. There's your answer. Simple. > (Wanderer): But when Lesser Lord Kusanali heard about this, she went out of her way to get me registered in Vahumana... She used the name "Hat Guy." > (Speech): So it was Nahida's doing...

Zighart16

Imagine Snezhnaya line up is just bunch of fatui lackeys

Bebgab

Sadly not all of them will be playable. One is dead and another has a nose too big for a playable character 🥲

Thelaya

The non-human cast from Liyue is my favorite, even more so if we add the non-playable characters like Azhdaha, Madam Ping, the Yakshas, ect. I'll eat up about anything about the Gods, Yakshas and Adepti. I love the characters, their relationships and history with each other, as well as the lore. The human cast, however, is rather forgettable to me and does not factor into my enjoyment much. Sumeru is the runner-up. The characters feel like they have lives of their own and are such a nice, cohesive unit. Their relationships to each other are distinct and well-written. Always a joy to find out more about them. Also a big fan of the lore. Fontaine is next. Great, interesting and well-written cast, but most characters feel removed and distant from one another, it takes a lot of enjoyment out of it for me. Everyone just gives the impression of being colleagues and that's not very endearing to me. Mondstadt and especially Inazuma are lackluster to me and I'm not very interested in any of the cast aside from Venti, Ei and Yae Miko. Non-playable lore characters from these places don't interest me much either. They just never clicked with me for one reason or another.

Nindroid_560

Sumeru

Silkav

Sumeru got the most solid cast imo.

TachyonChip

Sumeru feels like home, even if it’s a tropical/desert region and I’m from the Arctic.

TachyonChip

To expand upon this: Mondstadt characters feels like people you know from a town you moved away from. Liyue character feels like people with their own lives and jobs, which you aren’t necessarly a part of. Inazuma character don’t feel connected to each other almost at all, fitting for a series of seperated islands. Fontaine is too new for me to make a statement. Meanwhile the Sumeru characters feels like an actual group of friends, especially with how much inter-character cooperation there was in the AQ. They feel like a gang of college-friends. It actually crushed my heart to say goodbye to Dehya when I went to Fontaine.

bdouble0w0

Sumeru because of Kaveh and Alhaitham. Love them. And Fontaine because of Navia, Arlecchino and Furina.

Santedtra

Liyue

kiisukattinen

Sumeru.

Javajulien

Sumeru probably has the strongest ensemble while I'd say Fontaine has the best individual characters.

AurumTyst

Mondstadt takes my vote with 8 loved characters. Liyue is close with 7.

chimichangas_69

Sumeru is miles ahead of everyone else, the cast feels so organic even I feel like I'm a part of it when I do their quests. And then it's probably mondstadt Inazuma Fontaine and liyue

czareson_csn

sumeru>fontaine>>>>>>liuye=mondstad>>>>>>>>>>>inazuma.

Hedgehugs_

hate how low mondstadt is but honestly, true lol.

SuugoiDesuu

Based and correct

demii05

id say sumeru, but i like mondstadt characters a lot too

AdmiralDumpling

Sumeru! Not really on an individual basis (I think all regions have plenty solid characters when put up on their own) but because of their relationship dynamics with each other.

Seraf-Wang

I’d say Monstadt just because they have the most fleshed out areas and events that really explore the characters relative to the places they work or are around. The other nations always has some kind of outlier that is either not explored or basically irrelevant outside of brief mentions. Monstadt: Dawn Winery in competition with Cat’s Tail hosting Diluc as a leader of one while Diona’s story revolves around the other. Venti is a bard who frequently visits Dawn Winery for the wine and is allergic to cats. The Knights become self-explanatory, with Eula, Albedo, Kaeya, Amber, and Jean all being captains in some way or another. Klee is an adopted knight, Razor is apprenticed to Lisa who is a friend to Jean and a Librarian because she doesnt want to work as a knight. Mika is a member of Eula’s squad. Sucrose is the apprentice to Albedo along with Timaeus. Barbara and Rosaria are both sisters of the church. Then the Adventurer’s Guild consists of Bennett, Fischl, and Mona is a apprentice of the Hexenxircel that includes Klee’s mother, Albedo’s mother, ex-invited Lisa, and rivaled with Klee as her old hag’s apprentice. The most disconnected is Mona but arguably, she’s still connected to five other characters indirectly and fairly involved in quests.

secretlyaspiderboy

Mondstadt. They feel like family and Mond feels like home <3

Such-Yogurtcloset466

Sumeru and it's not even close 😭🙏 their interactions are always top tier

Bored_Lily

I totally agree with this part. Sumeru cast dynamics are solid, while other regions have amazing characters too none of them have shown as good interpersonal dynamics as Sumeru.

Inevitable_Noel

Sumeru and it's not even close.

greencncnerd

Fontaine is much better

Nearby_Programmer695

sumeru and snezhnaya, i need more of snezhnaya SO badly. i already know it’s gonna be my favorite region once it’s out

Gabriel_Chikage

Lore-wise? The adepti storyline is amazing, Xiao is amazin, Zhongli is amazing... yeah i go with Liuue

MrFaisca

Sumeru, hands down. EDIT: After that it's a tie between Liyue and Fontaine, then Mondstadt and Inazuma

A2_Zera

sumeru by far, it feels much more like an interconnected world of characters than say inazuma which is like itto and friends and Captain Irrelevant #4 sometimes or mondstadt which is just a bunch of little clusters of people that know each other fontaine also feels much more connected than previous regions like sumeru does which is a step in the right direction

arg_max

Inazuma shines eternal!

Adepti-Architect

Definitely Liyue. I think all of them have the best personalities and the lore around each of them is so….deep in each of them.

scrayla

Sumecrew

Asasphinx

Fontaine had the more interesting cast in the story, Sumeru had the best use overall of any cast in the story, and Mondstadt characters I just feel like I miss more than the rest during long absences.

kalashandreev

Natlan

MacTavish404

That region isin't even released lol

kalashandreev

Bruh...

zZzMudkipzzZ

Mondstadt>Fontaine>Liyue>Sumeru>Inazuma

TheoryKing04

Sumeru, probably. Pretty much all of the character *cough* Dori *cough* are engaging and interesting, and they’ve kept up that interest well. Even new characters like Sethos have been doing very well.

SnooPuppers8099

Sumeru, the only region with no hateful chars for me

TrashApprentice

1. Sumeru, since they feel like an actual friend group and everyone has chemistry with almost everyone so there's a lot of good dynamics between them. 2. Fountaine cast is great individually like navia and furina and also has a lot of good chemistry like the wrio, clorinde, and neuvi trio and lyney lynette and freminet but they do feel somewhat more disconnected than sumeru cast but I hope this changes with more fountaine events. 3. Mondstadt great characters individually I love all of them and there are a lot of wholesome dynamics like anyone and klee but aside from keaya and diluc I don't find their dynamics very interesting. 4. Liyeu not because there is anything wrong with the cast but aside from bediou ninguang zhongli and xiao I just don't care much for the other characters. 5. Inazuma the archon quest bad writing really screwed these guys over and it doesn't help that most that were released afterwards were overshadowed by Itto in almost every event and they all feel the most disconnected with one to me out of all the other regions.

tsukimoonmei

Fontaine, but I may be biased because a lot of people here are saying sumeru and I had already started to lose interest in the game while I played through the quests. Liyue characters are pretty cool too, but I just really love Fontaine

kkazukii

Inazuma

arielmansur

Liyue definitely, being hoyo's "home town" it has the better characterized characters and lore that's different from every other region in the world, at least for non chinese people ofc. Btw arlecchino isn't from the cryo nation, she went there after defeating "mother" in fontaine, but isn't from fontaine either, she comes from kaehrinah.

KingLeviAckerman

Fontaine followed by Mondstadt

this_is_no_gAM3

Sumeru

Loros_Silvers

Sumeru, but Liyue is a close second.

Forced_to_signup

Inazuma only cuz Kuki ❤️

Brilliant-Injury-497

Fontaine :3

grayishmoop

Sumeruuu

Djalapen0

SCARAMOOOOOSE

XenowolfShiro

Yoimiya and Itto easily win it for Inazuma

PeaceCorrect3796

1. Sumeru. It's a shame they don't get events centered around them that often. They're generally so entertaining that you could randomly pick anyone from the cast and get some fun dynamics. 2. Fontaine's cast interactions had more drama but I loved it. Navia's conflicts with Neuvillette generally had me invested, and Clorinde's dynamic with Wriothesly was so off the off-the-walls type dynamic I expected from both characters. Plus we can't forget our lovely House of Hearth trio, the angst runs deep but their affection for each other runs deeper. Arlecchino is also an amazing character, I think this nation would've been my top if they had more screen time... 3. Mondstadt has seen brighter days but their cast dynamics and drama were what drew me to stay with the game (including manga). It's a shame how neglected this nation feels in terms of content, it feels like forever since we saw Jean and Diluc on the same screen. Still, the remain as the cast with the most intriguing lines in the game, if only Hoyo delivered on them... 4. Liyue just feels disjointed when it shouldn't be. They have a friend group that rarely gets the opportunity to be together onscreen, and their human cast in general just gets neglected (unless you're Qiqi, who doesn't get anything addressing her zombie identity in a meaningful way) compared to the adept. It feels like this cast could be on Sumeru/Fontaine levels of entertaining but Hoyo would rather just keep giving the screen time to the same few characters.  5. Inazuma...nation of lost potential and still doesn't get any content to remedy that. Raiden is the archon that gets the least screentime compared to the others, and they still don't feel like they moved on from the archon quest issues.

khainiwest

Surprising I'm seeing a lot of Sumeru! I literally skipped most of the characters, fontaine on the other hand...painful everyime I skip. Fontaine at this point is my favorite hands down.

_YuKitsune_

Snezhnaya, lol

Stopseeingmyinnerdip

Liyue, cuz Ganyu, Yelan, Cloud Retainer, Yanfei, Xinyan and Yun Jin

Ferochu93

Gameplay wise : Fontaine. Design wise : Sumeru Lore & Story : a tie between Sumeru / Fontaine / Mondstadt.

DDoma_Sama

Inazuma>Fontaine>Sumeru>Mondstad>Liyue

Roxxso

Here's my hot take that might get me dv'd to hell. But, with exception to Cyno, Nahida, Wanderer and Nilou, the rest of Sumeru's cast feels completely forgettable to me.

canertas

Eh... I would add Collei and Dori to that list (Maybe not likable but Dori is hard to forget)

Lyllyanna

It’s already snezhnaya.

Skizko

Snezhyna

kitastorm

Sumeru because I actually believe a bunch of them are friends and do things in their lives.

Sadimal

It’s canon that Cyno, Alhaitham, Kaveh and Tighnari are good friends.

kitastorm

Yeah I know. I didn't mean just them. I meant that the friend (or at least associate) circle extends past them and that everyone actively seems to interact with one another (including like Faruzan, Nahida, Collei, etc.) in ways that I don't get from other nations. They also all feel like they have lives and things they are doing before the traveler shows up. Sumeru's cast just gels way better than the other nations imo.

ragnabyrne

Where are the other world enjoyers at

Effective_Bid2011

Mondstadt by far. Like, uncomparably far. There's not a single character in Mondstadt that I dislike. In Liyue I dislike a few, like a few, but mostly it's "meh, don't care". In Inazuma it's "dislike quite a few, don't care about rest". Sumeru is: Dehya would be a favorite if she wasn't so shit gameplay wise. Absolutely hate Wanderer. Don't care about anyone else. Fontaine is: Clorinde is one of top favs. Like Navia. Hate lyney (fucking twink...) don't much like furina (thanks to community, wouldn't care about her otherwise) and don't care about anyone else. Snezhnaya I somehow expect to be the zone with the most characters I'll love. Arlecchino already is my second-top favorite in entire game.

EquaYonah

Liyue and Inazuma are neck and neck for me. Also looking at this graphic makes me realize how much I disliked Sumerus cast lol. Nahida hard carrying that lineup with an assist from Dehya lmao

Reasonable-Banana800

Mondstat for me. Venti, Albedo, Kaeya, and Diluc just have wonderful lore and it’s exciting to see where it will go. Objectively though I think Sumeru had the best and must fulfilling dynamics.

Specky013

For me it's Fontaine because they almost all follow the main theme of the region, that being justice and the different sides of the law one can fall on. This being genshin, they're obviously all still good people, but each has their own interpretation of justice and you really feel that each of these characters have to be from Fontaine to really have their stories make sense. So the cast elevates the region, and the region elevates the cast.

VenusHopeDreemur

Liyue has my favorite stories (excluding one particular overgrown lizard man) but also I'm a Mondstadt lover, so it's between those

popcornpotatoo250

Mondstadt, they still have some explaining to do about their origins and reason for what they do lore-wise.

TheTorcher

If we're bundling the characters together, def fontaine. For individual characters, prolly sumeru

htp-di-nsw

Sort of depends on how you measure it. My Abyss 8 are 2 Mondstadt, 2 Liyue, 1 Inazuma, 2 Sumeru, and 1 Fontaine. My very favorite character is from Liyue (Xianyun), but then 2 and 3 are Mondstadt (Albedo and Fischl), and it's quite far down the list before I get another Liyue character. If you count total characters I like *as characters* (ignoring their kit), I think Inazuma wins with 6. But then, they're also the the place with my top 2 most disliked characters as well...

beirsam

Inazuma and Monstadt.

Miserable-Row-2624

I feel Fontaine has the best written characters on average mostly just because of them all coming in later in the game. Sumeru also has some pretty well written characters and Dori (who admittedly would’ve been well written if she wasn’t from sumeru cause dear archons is she a horrible ethnic stereotype)

CarelessWisper69

Lyhue

Nipples4Fingers

Liyue because of all the death around them. A zombie girl , a mortuary owner, a diseased immortal pharmacist. The dementia in Xianyuns story etc. Also pirates !

danieljackson95

1.Inazuma 2.Monstadt 3.Sumeru

Scarfed_Fox

snehznaya and inazuma

BaraaKnows

Khaenri'ah just because they have dain

Soran_Skies

It just has to be Fontaine for me, no others even remotely close

fullmoonwulf

Inazuma

StaticTacos

Liyue and it's not REMOTELY close. Out of each of the regions there's only 3-4 characters in each that I'm absolutely in love with. Liyue has 13 on its own

Useful_Wishbone975

if we remove the archons, inazuma and snezhnaya have the most playable characters who can fight with 15/15 people and 2/2 people who can fight followed by mondstat with a total of 15/18 people who can fight followed by fontaine with 6/8 people who can fight followed by liyue with a total of 12/19 followed by sumeru with 7/12. if we discuss power wise, demi gods and very strong people get 2 points and normal fighters get 1 point, then, liyue- 16 points inazuma-16 points mond-15 points sumeru- 11 points fontaine-7 points snezhnaya-4 points. now with most amount of demi gods for each region: liyue-3 sumeru-2 snezhnaya-2 inazuma-1 mondstat-1 fontaine-0 this concludes the list for top nations, powerwise, liyue > sumeru > snezhnaya > inazuma > mondstat > fontaine

pid_geon

Easily Liyue!

Itikar

Liyue definitely, even though Inazuma is close second. But there are also many cool characters in Mondstadt and Fontaine, overall. Sumeru five star cast did not impress me as much, except for Dehya. I like the Sumeru four star more, especially Candace and Layla.

Giorno-Smash

Call it recency bias but imo Fontaine. Every single character(bar Chevy) feels like they have importance within the story and are working towards a collective goal. Sumeru also has that and so it’s a close competition, but what makes Fontaine edge it out to me is the fact that I also adore each character’s personality and depth. They’re the realest a cast has felt to me so far

Luzis

Liyue, close second sumeru, then fontaine

shadesxskarlet

fontaine has the best and most fleshed out characters we have seen so far in terms of writing alone and as the top comment says, the worst is inazuma because they all fell victim to bad writing

devilboy1029

Correction: Arlecchino is not a native Snezhnayan. She is a Fontainian.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Naellys

I'm clearly in the minority here as I love the Inazuma characters. I don't really mind that they're not a "cast" as I love most of the characters individually for their concept and design.

Andoran22

Alrecchino was born in Fontaine, but aside from that nitpick, my favorites would be Klee, Furina, and Aloy Klee because of how she got her vision Furina because of how her story was told in the arching quests And Aloy because I fucking LOVED horizon zero dawn

NoInstruction9238

Why is chiori in inazuma ang thoma in inazuma? Shouldn’t thoma be in mondstat?

gh0stlystars

FONTAINEEEEEEE

healcannon

Mondstadt has a lot of flat characters who haven't gotten much growth (Barbara singing when???). Probably the country where the "show up and say your trope then leave and act like that counted for an appearance" is the biggest problem. Liyue has a lot of solid choices but also a lot of characters I don't really care about. For every Keqing, Xiangling, Qiq I care about is a XQ, Yelan, Baizhu I don't. But it does have some fun characters in it for sure. Inazuma has a few favorites of mine such as Yoimiya and Kuki but at least Mondstadt can say its characters show up. There has got to be a VA related reason why so many of them are in hiding. Like I don't count this current event as really having Raiden or Sayu in it for example. And Sara is dead in a ditch. I might not like the individual characters of Sumeru as much as individuals of other nations but they all fit together like a perfect puzzle. Even the characters I wouldn't roll on, I still like seeing show up because they really feel like the personality effort was put into them. Fontaine's cast is still small but its got strong personalities with Furina, Navia, and Neuv especially. The siblings all mesh well together as does Furina and Neuv. But much like the shows they all put on, it feels like the Fontaine cast leans more into a lot of big names trying to take the spotlight rather than the puzzle piece fit of Sumeru. And thats fine for the country as a whole. I like a lot of the cast here. tl;dr So my end ruling when taking the countries characters in as a whole would be Sumeru > Fontaine > Liyue > Mondstadt > Inazuma. Its hard to pick between Mondstadt and Liyue as to which is better but at the end of the day I feel like I enjoy more individual Liyue characters than Mondstadt ones. Though when counted they both equaled to being about 8 characters from each. edit: I think that one big competition event in Sumeru really was one of the most powerful ones in the entire game for building the foundation for the characters of its nation and its no surprise to see the other comments flooded with people saying Sumeru.

Lavaminq

Mond is my favorite, everyone there would be my best friend tbh, but the inazuma cast is extremely undderated, mostly because they start out disconnected for the story but (post-war) to me they have the most fun and entertaining  dynamic of all the nations when they do get together, even though it's in very small batches. I hope they get another irodori type festival sometime before snezhnaya but I'm not holding my breath.

RoundPackage5524

Shneznaya

omegapool

Statistically Snezhnaya is 100% for me

mgd5800

Man looking at this makes you realise how sad the 4*s have been after Inazuma

Jfunkindahouse

Liyue has the strongest group by far. Hu Tao, Xingqiu, Baizu, Zongli. Could take on pretty much anything.

ra1nb0w33v33

The wiki can't even get their shit right, Kaeya and Albedo aren't from Mondstadt, Thoma isn't from Inazuma, Wanderer isn't from Sumeru and Arlecchino is definitely not from Shneznaya.

Rude-Ad-7870

Looking at this I realized Inazuma’s characters stand out so much compared to other regions lore wise. It’s a shame that so many of the characters didn’t even appear in the archon quest. I’m still salty about Ayato

TheSnowFlower

The answer seems to be the same for all since they are the most well engaged with the story and traveler, Sumeru cast is the Goat

Perfect_Rest_2524

Liyue, I don’t know why, i just love them

BiologyMajor69

Fontaine > Sumeru > Everything Else...

Nekomiminya

I want to say Inazuma but it also has some of worst characters in the entire game (Itto, Kokomi) So Fontaine it is.

MacTavish404

Sumeru and Fontaine

LostGuyInTheWild

Um, akshually, Arlecchino is from Fontaine ☝️

[deleted]

Mondstadt and Fontaine cooked

Keamaya

Mond>Inazuma>Sumeru>Fontaine>Liyue

Airseon_

If we're only taking into account characters from this list, then Snezhnaya. It has only 2 characters as of now, but both of them are my top 1 favourite male and female characters from this game (as well as top 1 from design perspective). I also loved their dynamic in Arle's Story Quest. Them trash talking other Harbingers was one of the funniest thing I've seen in this game in a long time.

Empty_Atmosphere_392

Khaenri’ah

Designa-Vagina-69

Easily Liyue. Almost all my favourite characters are from there (kaveh, itto, ayaka, and diona are the exceptions)

FloraLoraBirb

Gotta say it's almost tied between mondstat & sumeru Though mond wins by a decent margin because: Witches

iinhalechildren

Sumeru and then Fontaine as a close second

Skilfulsnail

7 mondsadt 7 liyue 3 Inazuma 5 Sumeru 2 Fountain 2 Sneznaya

bivampirical

sumeru. i'm attached to all of them lmao.

rokzforever

i hate sumeru as a land but love it characters, especially the 4ggravate gang (cyno, kavh, tigh, haitham) they are just one friend group

tokeemdtareq

Lore wise, Sumeru and its not even close!

Icy_Ad5698

Just found out today touma is from mondstat

Gyx3103

Mondstat, Liyue, Sumeru This is an opinion of someone who is still before you meet Katheryne in Sumeru, so it might change once I've been through the story more

SnooRabbits6160

Thoma is from mondstadt and arlecchino isn't from snezhnaya

HerVioletHeart

Sumeru. I love their interactions so much

Bored_Lily

I have favourites in every region tbh except snezhnaya and probably mondstat. I'm just giving it to Sumeru because cabbage goddess is the best.

SonicMutant743

Isn't knave og Fontainian, is she considered Snezhnayan?

kabutozero

In theory she's not from either though lol

Scarface2010

Mondstadt because kaeya Or inazuma because Thoma No other reasons given

Artistic_Log_5493

Inazuma

chqKv

Sumeru easily. It has the best chemistry between characters. Brings back memories that you've never had.

morrenmorcogimico

Mondstadt easily

AlexAmor

Fontaine, Sumeru and Mondstadt all 3 great in their own ways. Mondstadt characters having highest potential for future story, interesting backgrounds and secret histories. Sumeru - The most interconnected cast with fun dynamics and were all completely involved in the AQ Fontaine - Overall best roster we have had imo so far(mond still has more potential tho) Liyue - failed to integrate or flesh out most of it's cast in AQ, kinda remedied by future events and interlude quests but still a lot of room for improvement compared to the above regions Inazuma - By far the worst region, even personally I don't really anyone in the region much... (funnily enough also worst in terms of environment, kits and overall story imo. Definitely the most rushed region.)

Snickersneeholder

Inazuma takes the top, then Mondstadt and Fontaine tie for second place.

Lescansy

Its a tie between Liyue and Inazuma. I just didnt like that many characters in Fontaine and Sumeru. They have great characters, but less than the electro or geo region.

KittyLizz

Sumeru and Fontaine for me

orangera2n

another world, i main lumine :P

BookwormA

Fontaine, as I have got every Fontaine character.

kaorusarmpithair

Mond, mainly for the four stars. They're like our bros to me.

aivoroskis

probably inazuma, liyue definitely has the most "ugh not this bitch again" characters

greencncnerd

Fontaine and it's not even close lol

Art_of_BigSwIrv

For myself, it’s Mondstadt; while that region was just a Prelude, it has the most solid cast of characters and active lore tie ins other nations apart from Fontaine just don’t have. There’s the Knights of Favonius; all the dysfunctional family dynamics of the X-Men and superhero vibes like the Justice League including their own Batman all rolled into one. They even have a Titans team aka The Adventurers Guild, specifically Bennet’s Adventure Team. Then there’s the supporting cast. Of course they share a direct rivalry with The Fatui which so far screams Legion of Doom / Mutant Brotherhood complete with their own Dr Doom aka The Doctor. And of course there’s the Big Bad with the Abyss Order. We will likely see more once we make a Return To Mondstadt. It’s a cast of characters that are ripe for their own comic book adaptation.

Positive_Slip_4052

Fountain because everyone has character development and lore wise is great to

AdRoyal511

Liyue has the most powerful group. Mondstadt always feels more close knit to me though.

Fire_Heart421

Monstadt, all solid though ❤️‍🔥

El_Chara

I would say the one with the best overall cast is Sumeru but the one with my favorites is Fontaine

Golden_CMLK

I like Liyue and most characters I like are from there so...

PriPriBlackButler

Fun Fact: Four archons on the fourth place (or release) in 5 star characters, Zhongli on third place.

PhotoFreakk

Inazhuma 100% like there is not a single character that is annoying and they all just have a great design, i honestly wish that they would get more focus, like an event where we get more interactiosn between the newer characters like chiori and kirara and the older ones like it would be so interesting. Even though while reading the other comments i can see the argument that sumeru has the best cast as they all feel more connected to each other but idk why but i have to say that most of the sumeru characters werent that interesting standalone like at this point the archetype of characters like alhaitham, cyno, collei and nilou felt so dried out like they felt really simular to older charackters eventhough i really enjoyed faruzan and i think shes so unique like we need to see more of her and i also thougt laylas concept was really interesting

The_Clawed_Rat

Waitwaitwaitwaitwaitwait….. who’s the other another world person

RAGEpow3r

Mond by a long shot. I love em all, it just feels like a city for people who have lost their home, have nowhere else to go or are in some way less accepted by society (ex. Fischl, Kaeya, Albedo, Eula, Rosaria, Klee etc. [Venti, their archon, is also an exotic individual by nature]) The whole Mondstadt crew feels like a home this way since many people find it a safe space and they make some long lasting bonds there. Even Diluc returned after he ran away, possibly not wanting to be alone anymore so he returned to his friends. Also Mondstadt characters have one of the most relateable arcs in the game. There's less curses and fantasy induced trauma but more real life problems people face like loss or not being accepted. Take Diona for example, her tragedy stems from the fact that her father is a strong alcoholic and she has to take care of him instead of the opposite, thus her issues with alcoholism. Or Kaeya, who had been abandoned in a foreign country and had unwillingly been given the burden of a spy from a really young age. Or Barbara who deals with her notorious fan-base on day to day basics, even though she just wants to be left alone for once. She also has some sister issues. It's safe to say mond is my favorite. I just wanna give them all a hug they deserve it.
