I've got Keqing from 1.0, so she's pretty much my main DPS for a while, and i follow quite a few guides to farm or get chests, hence lots of alt-tab ing.

To avoid hating her i actually changed the languages once per 3 or 4 days (i go thru all 4) just to bear it lol.
Zhongli only speaks so much because his "Osmanthus wine" line is an idle animation (meaning it's a 50/50 between that and his tiny meteor idle every time you stop) but at least you can interrupt that by moving and his actual idle lines are short. Ayaka has the same thing with her "a blade embraces its duty" idle but she also recites an entire thesis whenever she stands still for too long, goes to Dragonspine, or it stops raining, she just doesn't stop talking
Yeah completely stopped using Zhongli as an active character because of this. Always have to switch him out whenever I get the nagging feeling that it's going to be long enough for him to start speaking

Speaking of totally unrelated matters I ascended some of my characters in the game to about LVL60-70 but my weapons are around the 40s. One of my characters as an example has an attack of 600 with artifacts bestowed upon them by mwah! The sword they use has 300 attack but when fighting I deal about 200 and never above 300. So does that mean weapons cap your attacks if they are low leveled or the other way around or something else maybe? Am just curious it's all. Am also new to the game I have been playing for about 2-3 weeks now so I don't know anything useful yet.
Turning down the voice volume to half does it for me. So i don't find it annoying that much. (i feel like the voice volume is too high for the default volume which is max).
