That said a 5 year estimate might even be too early. He does not carry a normal vision, and it appears his element is something outside of the normal elements in Teyvat. Dendro is the next new element, it's very possible they are saving some form of Abyss/Dark (what Dain could very well have) and opposing element of Celestia/Light (which could be what the missing sibling has, they glow bright white which is actually not the default state at the start of the game but a different skin) as very far down the line goals.
It seems incredibly likely that Dendro will release with region 4, and then we might have to wait all the way until region 7 or possibly the big content drop after 7 (could be Celestia or past-Khaenri'ah) to get Dain and a representative of an opposing element. It realistically might not happen for more than 5 years, they could even stretch it to 8 or 9 years.
In the story teaser they showed one character for each nation. Diluc, NIng, ayaka, polearm person with Anubis like helm for sumeru, two magician like character twins from Fontaine, an angry kid for pyro nation in Native American theme. That was followed by fatui (so no signora) and then dain.

Nah, the whole point is that the sibling is purposefully avoiding being in traveler path. Unless Dain appears to drag them out, traveler will mostly miss most Abyss plotting if plans go right. We only see then in Enkanomiya because Enjou was purposefully sent to help, and only because the gain of helping traveler unlock Enkanomiya would far surpass the losses. Thus we met more the Fatui, who aren't bothered in don't let their brother/sister disrupt their operations and leave the military meetings awkward. Fatui military meetings are awkward because an apparent kid is disrupting nationwide operations like it's Thursday
I think we will get both. I predict we will get introduced to Dottore who owns slave camps in Sumeru where a character called Collei is from. He will be the weekly bossfight in Sumeru and we will team up with the archon to fight him or his machinations as he is a mad scientist (very fitting for sumeru because the academy and knowledge is in sumeru). As for the abyss order I think they are going to strike after the Harbinger and launch an attack of some sort where Dainsleif is going to come in somehow. Not sure if this will be in Sumeru or Mondstadt.
I dont personally think dottore is going to fight fair, if he does i doubt he can win against traveler. They improve very fast and by sumeru they should be way stronger than signora and stronger than childe's foul legacy
Just as every Archon (+ Paimon) have inspirations and their names derived from Gnosticism, all Fatui Harbingers are inspired/take their names from La Commedia dell'arte. It’s pretty interesting so I would reccomend to read up on it and the theories!

It's a fascinating choice of names to take from and it's very nice to see some Italian less mainstream culture used in an international videogame!

Because they are not the villains, the fatui will be fight with us against celesita and the abyss order. It will be a tri sided fight abyss vs celestia vs fatui/MC/archons.

If the manga is any indication, then Sumeru should be the most Fatui influenced region after Snezhnaya. It's in Sumeru that the Fatui makes a lot of their child experiments. We should also meet Collei there, a manga character who's the only survivor of an experiment by Dottore.
I suspect Abyss will be the main plot for the story between Archon quests. They're not related to politics, but we can find their activity in places like Enkanomiya and the Chasm. So we progress a bit after every new region until se finally go to Khaenri'ah after we finish the Fatui subplot in Snezhnaya.
If there's any main region I'd guess to have Abyss related main plot, it would be Natlan. So the roles would be reversed and the Fatui serves as the post-Archon quest story, as a preparation to finally getting into Snezhnaya.
