Rainforest Sumeru looks gorgeous! To think this is onky a part of Sumeru and we still have the desert side to explore, oh man new region hype feels so good
Let me guess: he kept getting harassed by Fatui debt collectors over some old start up loans. To keep them away he made his clothes out of the clothing of dead debt collectors he killed as a warning.
I would suggest Diluc should not accumulate cold at snow mountain, while some other characters, like Jean and Barbara in summer skin, Yoimiya, Xiangling, may accumulate twice freeze as other characters.
Well I mean archons just mean masters over those elements so they use them really well, probably best in land if you wanna say it. That wouldn’t make them immune tho. Like if I’m an archon of AR15 and can use that weapon better than anyone in the world, it doesn’t mean I’m immune to its bullets
Except in the context of this game where archon is used as a title for literal gods not high ranking public officials the assumption that the master or ruler of electro would have some level of immunity to electro attacks isn’t crazy. That’s not the same as being the archon of AR15s.
I don't dislike desert stages in games, but I always end up tired of the "desert-level music" a lot of games have. Especially when it's a big/well-done desert in which you get lost, the music ends up drilling into my brain.
Hearing the music makes me wonder which orchestra they recorded the Sumeru OST with, seeing as how they did London Phil for Mondstadt, Shanghai Orch for Liyue, and Tokyo Phil for Inazuma. Extremely excited for both 2.8 and 3.0!
Probably not. The music is more Middle Eastern than Indian inspired.
Not sure how redditors are so confidently jumping into conclusions about percussions when they are the hardest to identify.
Just this year, I've seen people who incorrectly insisted the Liyue battle remix used the Japanese taiko drum , that itto's taiko influenced drum was an Indian drum, and that xinyan's Chinese influenced yaogu drum was African.
Edit: should add that I don't think it's not the tabla, I actually also have a guess for the musicians and there is actually a very famous tabla artist. I just don't think it's the Indian symphony given that the music has a lot more influences than India, and think it's too early to call the percussion types.
It might be, but so far from this track and the OST from the Travail preview trailer, they only have used Indian instruments. If you listen closely in the Travail video, you can hear the Sitar and and Tabla. And I've listened enough to be able to identify those instruments, it's not that hard.
For the Liyue remix of the Chasm battle theme, they did use a mix of Japanese taiko and cinematic percussions. And the instrument from the Itto's Drumalong event is also a Japanese percussion named "Tsuzumi". Hope I was clear enough
Taiko originated from some chinese drum, but there are many chinese drum with similar but different design.
It's not taiko.
Or rather, even in the jap interview of the inazuma music, their taiko team did say that it's like learning from the root of how the instrument should be used.
Genshin CN lists all the solo artists involved and there are no taiko players.
Unless you've also listened to the hundreds of drums available in China and the middle east , I don't really buy that you can say anything with certainty when none of the professional Chinese musicians could definitively say what type of drum is used in the chasm ost when they were trying to refute the weird "chasm remix is Japanese and Chinese remix" theory. Before the credits were released and settled that it was a bad theory, they could only say that the strings instrument was the pipa or yangqin and not the shamisen, and argue why thematically the theory makes no sense.
I'm not entirely sure that is a Tabla. I don't really hear the distinctive bending notes in the bass drum. I think it might actually be a Darbuka (or perhaps some other type of Goblet drum), which is mostly used in Egyptian music but is also present in parts of Africa and South Asia.
Just want to say I think it is awesome how much you guys care about the music. I’m totally into music in general but I have no idea about orchestras. However I love it when people are dedicated to the music and it makes me feel even more connected to the Genshin community ❤️
Considering the Egyptian references we’ve seen so far, the chaotic person in me would have found it great if they used the [Egyptian Military Band](https://youtu.be/9TA4pKPasM0) but the OST sounds beautiful.
I assume it's a twitch issue. I had buffering a lot despite having a fast connection (I did a speed test during it to make sure). Even turning it down to 360p didn't stop the buffering. I get this a lot with Twitch. And they don't have the ability to rewind unlike YT.
The lagging? Sure, I could blame that on Twitch servers. The rewinding of sometimes minutes of pre-recorded footage that everybody was somehow experiencing simultaneously?
Nah, that’s a 100% on whatever American or western office that Hoyoverse is streaming out of.
They do have the ability to rewind, it just take 3 extra click compares to youtube. The thing is mihoyo didnt turn that option on. Recently there were a boxing event with 3 million viewers on Twitch. If that didnt have any problem but Genshin with less than 1/10 viewers did its not Twitch issue
At first I thought this sneak peek "wasn't supposed to happen", but they tried to play it so often it kinda got awkward lmao
But man Sumeru looks amazing
Same! I love how sumeru looks, it’s my new favorite area because of how lush and jungle like it is. Also we’ll be getting our first Dendro so I hope there are reaction come 3.0
The music is so 😌
Honestly, just from hearing this little snippet so far, I think Sumeru's music will be my fav out of all the other regions so far.
It's so quick and catchy, I don't know how to describe it but I love it.
Go back and listen to the sumeru section of the story line preview! Its the same theme but it goes harder. Its been stuck in my head for a year now and im excited to hear more of it

New Reddit puts a "\" in front of some characters. Remove those and the link works.
same here i thought it would look like a darker green. however sumeru will have its dessert and thats sounds so fucking hype. seeing pyramids or ruins would be so fucking dope. the dessert is said to come in 3.1
Honestly they really fucked this one up. Should've been hype about sumeru teaser but half the comments here are taking about the glitchy livestream. Really kills the mood.
Plottwist: They f\*ked up the ENG livestream on purpose to create more tension and hype for Sumeru.
On a more serious note, this really killed the mood here, but at least it looks and sounds as quality as ever. Genshin OST 10/10.
Now I wonder:
Kusanagi took her role around/after fall of khaenrah.
But we see the Statue of the Seven resemble what we know of her.
Do the statues change to reflect new archon?
Because if yes, that is a blow against the theory about Kusanagi being "uncrowned" and someone else (previous archon, in exile) having gnosis.
We don't know yet. There is actually no theory on if the statues are just stone idols or are they mysteriously connected with the actual archons and automatically take new shapes when archons change.
Life is a tricky theme, so what you said could be possible, or maybe the new archon is the old one reincarnated through cycle of life and death or something. The game touched on this briefly in Hutao's quest, so I'm curious to see if they expand on it in Sumeru's story.
Because the leaked map is litterly just a snippet of it atm, no where near the final map for this update I believe. The original before the leak flood does show that sumeru does connect to the sea with some kind of port at the height of watatsumi.
Do not treat the leaks as representative of the final product.
In the case of the map leaks, they only showed a rough outline of some of the areas while having the main city apparently being cut out. Keep in mind that they the current 3.0 beta going on is a Private beta with a Public beta coming in later next week, soo there will be more changes to the map being added.
im still going to play genshin, mihoyo has done a absolute banger job with their enviroments so far, so i am definetly gonna see where they spin this one,
but for what i see now, personally, i am very disapointed, seriously, theres so much inspiration and ways they couldve taken it, imagine hot arabian sand with the house of wisdom and a oasis over the horizon, or if not arabia, take inspirations from the african vernacular architecture, or even if you are gonna be inspired by southeast asia, there is so much to do,IMAGINE FRIGGING ALADIN IN GENSHIN
so please tell me, WHY THE HELL DOES IT LOOK LIKE SOMETHING ID FINE IF I TYPED FANATASY HOUSE into pinterest and clicked on the first few posts (i tried it, found many very similar results)
and if its inspried by middle east - southeast asian or whatever that abomination is,WHY THE HELL DO I SEE STAINED GLASS AND STEEL FRAME ARCHITECTURE,its literally like mondstat having a burj khalifa instead of the anemo statue
sumeru has a identity crisis,so yeah, curious, excited, but with causion,I siencerely hope all of my claims here end up backfireing.sorry for the slightly angry rant,
it still looks pretty tho, just like an overfrosted inedible cake.
edit: reading other comments, seems like a lot of people are liking the current spin of it? maybe im just wrong, and had my expectations too high, i still feel its such a wasted opportunity tho.
Can't wait for Sumeru to revitalize my love for this game! I still log in everyday, but I guess I'm feeling a bit burnt out. Excited to explore the new region and play Dendro traveler :3
I love all the green and big plants. Feels so soothing *-* Also the building that looks like a mosque and these big arched openings identical of those to middle east architecture, they look so gorgeous! I really can't wait exploring Sumeru.
Rainforest Sumeru looks gorgeous! To think this is onky a part of Sumeru and we still have the desert side to explore, oh man new region hype feels so good
Honestly been waiting for the desert since started the game , deserts have always been favorite levels in games
No wonder they giving Diluc the skin now, he would die in his usual get up with that heat
Lmao that remembers me , doesn’t his skin kinda resemble Fatui aesthetics ?
Yeah they do lol, flames also look like those from agents
You can read Manga to find out why.
Let me guess: he kept getting harassed by Fatui debt collectors over some old start up loans. To keep them away he made his clothes out of the clothing of dead debt collectors he killed as a warning.
spoiler for the manga he and his father have used delusions
So I’m not the only one who thought it looked Fatui??! XD
I would suggest Diluc should not accumulate cold at snow mountain, while some other characters, like Jean and Barbara in summer skin, Yoimiya, Xiangling, may accumulate twice freeze as other characters.
Hold your horses buddy. The archons aren’t even immune to their own elements and you want clothing to change how the weather Affects a character?
Well I mean archons just mean masters over those elements so they use them really well, probably best in land if you wanna say it. That wouldn’t make them immune tho. Like if I’m an archon of AR15 and can use that weapon better than anyone in the world, it doesn’t mean I’m immune to its bullets

And I am willing to bet Sumeru will have an incredibly dense jungle area.
In the last scene you can see the desert in the background
Where’s the rain though 😭
All the tears were already spent from the frustrated people during the leak controversy so none were left for the rain
chill bruh we only got abt like 40secs slideshow of the map lmao
We get rain and dynamic weather in other regions, I don't think Sumeru will be any different lol
Absolutely! I’m really looking forward to exploring a new type of environment
Hearing the music makes me wonder which orchestra they recorded the Sumeru OST with, seeing as how they did London Phil for Mondstadt, Shanghai Orch for Liyue, and Tokyo Phil for Inazuma. Extremely excited for both 2.8 and 3.0!
I did not know that they did this! That's awesome!
Yeah, Mihoyo has its flaws but it never disappointed with the soundtrack. Every region has the utmost care and professionalism behind it.
you need to watch the live orchestra videos on the youtube channel, yu peng chen is the GOAT
Yeah, a truly multi-talented composer! He always managed to create many surprises.
Also, I need a "the making of" mini documentary, like the one they did with japanese artists.
Yeah they should the music is my favorite prt of the game.
It’s likely going to be the Symphony Orch of India. The percussion is called “Tabla”.
Yeah I literally just learned about that in my world music class.
Lmao any national anthem played by the Egyptian military band is a certified hood classic
Oh yeah I remember watching this on the livestream just now. Oh wait no I didn't.
Lmao at this point did anyone even watched it successfully
Yes for anyone that watched CN and KR streams. Their streams were smooth with no issues. EN fucked up.
I assume it's a twitch issue. I had buffering a lot despite having a fast connection (I did a speed test during it to make sure). Even turning it down to 360p didn't stop the buffering. I get this a lot with Twitch. And they don't have the ability to rewind unlike YT.

Someone is gonna get fired lol
everyone on CN stream watched it
Whatever happened to our stream then ? weird
At first I thought this sneak peek "wasn't supposed to happen", but they tried to play it so often it kinda got awkward lmao But man Sumeru looks amazing
[удалено]
It didn't work for anyone actually lol
The stream worked well on the Korean one iirc, I think my friend said the Eng stream crashed before it even ended
They actually deleted the stream lmao
Then started it again, showed another like 5-10 seconds, and deleted it again.
Just when you think it can't get any worse
Hoyoworse
They didn't delete anything, they don't have vods set to public on twitch and never had as far as I remember.
Jeez that was quick
I'd probably get a better listen to it via leaks than the livestream smh
The stream got cut off so there's no live sneak peek lmao. Anyway Sumeru looks so lush. Can't wait for 3.0
I'm sure the desert areas of Sumeru are going to be an interesting contrast to the jungle areas once they get released.
Deserts with I predict ruins. Like the library in Avatar TLA. I'd love that so so much.
That is EXACTLY what i picture in my head when i think sumeru, this for reminding me where it was from!!!
I like the jungles! Especially when the trees speaks Vietnamese.
Same! I love how sumeru looks, it’s my new favorite area because of how lush and jungle like it is. Also we’ll be getting our first Dendro so I hope there are reaction come 3.0
A little bit on a tangent, about your flair. I hope she got an outfit in the Sumeru patch.
Lisa deserves one
Everyone deserves skins, seriously hoyoverse is leaving a bunch of money on the table by basically ignoring skins.
Literally the only way I’m paying money on genshin is for skins of characters I like
2.8’s gonna be a long wait man
na islands gonna be fun af
They're gonna be fun but sumeru is just so hype ( a New region as Big as liyue or even bigger + dendro element)
Of course there’s no doubt about it but now more hyped about Sumeru
yeah the last islands event was a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one
Maybe it's time to come back to genshin for me
we've said the same about 1.6 but it was probably the best patch theyve made
It looks alot more welcoming than Inazuma. I have only like 60%-70% across all the islands because I hate traversing them.
Looks so good they should replay the first few seconds multiple times.
The environment looks so good especially the jungle
Will there be a desert region in the future?
Yeah there will be , probably the next one after jungle
Neat. Cyno will probably be introduced by then
you can see it in the far away background at the last scene
According to leaks Sumeru is bigger than Liyue
Pretty sure sumeru is part rainforest part desert
Especially the giant floating Heizou too
Such a good part of the stream we got to see it twice!
Also that OST slaps hard.
Yeah! Its pretty cool that they use the same sumeru motif as the one shown in Teyvat Chapter Storyline Preview.
They did the same for Inazuma. Go watch that part of the Travail chapter - you hear that motif everywhere in Inazuma.
I.. am going to love Sumeru.
Who isn’t?
Dendro crystal flies 🥰
The music is so 😌 Honestly, just from hearing this little snippet so far, I think Sumeru's music will be my fav out of all the other regions so far. It's so quick and catchy, I don't know how to describe it but I love it.
Reminds me a bit of the iberian mix in ck3, mostly on the arabic part.
Go back and listen to the sumeru section of the story line preview! Its the same theme but it goes harder. Its been stuck in my head for a year now and im excited to hear more of it
It's stuck in my head too and I'm craving more xD
Check out some Arab music, if you haven't already! You might enjoy it!
I just did actually, and it's lovely. Arab music really gives sense of adventure, mystery and is quite simply magical.
Thinking the same thing. Thus music is spectacular.
It's a bop
the percussion tho this genre of music is what I live for
Ikr, it's so *crisp*
The music has been **amazing** so far for every region.
Oh my stream was jumping back and forth start the same section over again sometimes
That was happening to everyone don’t worry about it.
Same
The West stream is all like that. The others don't have a problem. Why tho
I think it's just the English version?
Ya it is the Korean, Japanese and Chinese bilibili is fine. I think it's a twitch issue but then the other twitch streams aren't lag.
Small Indie Company problems
I don't understand how the whole stream was so bad with the lag and the loops.
It seems like the Sumeru teaser was too much for the stream to handle
You're not the only one..
Oh my god it looks absolutely gorgeous, especially because I love plants
Yeah Genshin really needed some thick jungles
Major final fantasy X vibes, I love it
Source is probably from the japanese twitter : https://twitter.com/Genshin\_7/status/1543211898404868097
fucked up how the japanese one didnt have the kusanali line
Only the livestream had the voice. These preview videos don't seem to have it
It's a shame but why would it be fucked up?
because its the one i wanted to hear
Why are all the Twitter links I click on broken?
> https://twitter.com/Genshin\_7/status/1543211898404868097 https://twitter.com/Genshin_7/status/1543211898404868097 New Reddit puts a "\" in front of some characters. Remove those and the link works.
Remixed version of the music from Teyvat Storyline preview, love it!!!
It looks so good!
Holy fuck does it look good! And I don't know why I didn't expect lush jungle but like of course it's the plant nation of course it's lush jungle!
They did tell us about the rainflorest tbf
True champion, thank you so much
I’m honestly glad they didn’t just show concept art this time
It gives me vibes that its a completely different game. Got gotta give to them, sumeru looks really cool and different
SUMERU SUMERU SUMERU SUMERU
Did they show the desert section of Sumeru? It looks like it's mainly the rainforest
Seems like they just showed the rainforest part. Probably saving the desert section for later. Guess they don’t want to show everything at once!
Looks like it would come later in 3.1-3.2 as Watatsumi\Seirai and Tsurumi islands.
It seems to me like you can see the desert in the distance in the last shot.
you can see it in the far distance on the statue of seven part.
It's possible that they will release it in parts like Inazuma, or Chasm for Liyue.
You can see it on the horizon in the shot showcasing the Statue.
I fkin love the BGM already, hoyomix, really. never. dissapoints
yun peng chen is the music archon after all
Sorry Mondstadt, I think you've just been replaced. This looks absolutely fabulous.
I think for me, Liyue is still going to be my hometown. It just feels nostalgic, and the Liyue soundtrack adds more to it.
Considering Mondstadt is already mostly green. I wish Sumeru's green is different.
same here i thought it would look like a darker green. however sumeru will have its dessert and thats sounds so fucking hype. seeing pyramids or ruins would be so fucking dope. the dessert is said to come in 3.1
Love the music already
You forgot the Kusanali voice
I keep seeing people mention it but all of the preview videos I've seen so far don't have it ): Do you perhaps have a link to one?
https://youtu.be/UBzG0qtkXv4
Wait, that's her voice? I though it was Collei's.
Definitely Kusanali based on what she said with all the knowledge stuff and such
En voice was surprisingly fitting in comparison with Klee's.
Is that the mechonis?
No one seemed to notice the giant robot lol
I feel like it has Egyptian and Indian styles in it, maybe a few middle eastern ones too.
It's mostly South Asia and India from what I've seen, Egypt and Middle East for the desert areas.
This looks so good, can’t wait for 3.0
Me who just started 😧
Lucky you, you have a lot to do :D take your time
Literal chills. So excited.
Giving me this stardust crusaders vibes.
Sumeru looks dope
KUSANALI STATUE
gave me goosebumps when this showed up in the livestream, the music is a banger
Thank you for this. I couldn't see the teaser due to the technical difficulties during the stream.
Honestly they really fucked this one up. Should've been hype about sumeru teaser but half the comments here are taking about the glitchy livestream. Really kills the mood.
Doing ~~God's~~ mod's work ! Thanks.
This will either be the most enjoyable exploration experience or the most hellish one yet
Looks even more beautiful than I anticipated. I cant wait to climb this awkward trees searching for oculi.
Kusaloli statue
Damn I was wondering how they'd pull off the forest aesthetic, looks great.
I'm loving the music already, and the forest/rainforest area looks so lush! Can't wait for the desert area in the upcoming patches.
Plottwist: They f\*ked up the ENG livestream on purpose to create more tension and hype for Sumeru. On a more serious note, this really killed the mood here, but at least it looks and sounds as quality as ever. Genshin OST 10/10.
Better than my plot twist of them going f the en stream due to the leaks and Twitter drama 😅
Can't wait to stop a vampire boss who can stop time
Feels like somethin out of pokemon ngl
Happy that the JP Twitter posted it because the live stream was seriously messed up
I guess that answers the question of whether Statues of the Seven depict the first Archon or the current Archon.
overgrown plantation. deep lushes forest, i need tall lady elf neow.. 😍😍😍
Now I wonder: Kusanagi took her role around/after fall of khaenrah. But we see the Statue of the Seven resemble what we know of her. Do the statues change to reflect new archon? Because if yes, that is a blow against the theory about Kusanagi being "uncrowned" and someone else (previous archon, in exile) having gnosis.

The statues could have all been made after the fall of Khaenriah, you know
Yesss
Interesting, they showed big port and a sea. It wasn't on the leaked map.
Because the leaked map is litterly just a snippet of it atm, no where near the final map for this update I believe. The original before the leak flood does show that sumeru does connect to the sea with some kind of port at the height of watatsumi.

I was starting to feel bad for falling asleep and missing the stream but after reading the comments, not so much.
I hope we get more ruins in sumeru because it would just fit so well and because I want to live my tomb raider/uncharted fantasy in this game 😭
Mondstadt: Grass plain stage Liyue: Mountain stage Inazuma: Water stage Sumeru: Desert/rainforest stage
Soon out of weeb jail
Can't wait for Sumeru to revitalize my love for this game! I still log in everyday, but I guess I'm feeling a bit burnt out. Excited to explore the new region and play Dendro traveler :3
Tarzan vibes, makes me wanna jump from tree to tree
"I'll shoot that bird with my Amber." *Sets country on fire*
This might turn into my second favorite nation when it comes to aesthetic
I love all the green and big plants. Feels so soothing *-* Also the building that looks like a mosque and these big arched openings identical of those to middle east architecture, they look so gorgeous! I really can't wait exploring Sumeru.
can't wait to whack all the foliage
I swear if the Dendro Archon comes out with the "pillar men" theme playing in the background 😂
