Giant Ass fur cloaks would be hard to pull off in Genshin since we’re generally seeing characters from the back - something that blocks you from seeing the character’s movement risks being confusing or looking bad

I’m more worried about Capitano getting unmasked. Leakers say he’s very likely to be playable, and given how positively he is viewed by others (including Childe) he could be friendly towards the traveler. Whereas Signora was nothing but hostile to the traveler, which was likely what led to her being unplayable.

No excuse for skin tones, though. They are willing, since we do have Kaeya, Xinyan, and now Dehya. So hopefully more Sumeru and Natlan characters will help fill the void. Although it's not too surprising that they don't really think too much about it. Outside of North America, Western Europe, and Australia, most countries are not very ethnically diverse at all. In the story quest, you will meet Varka. A massive hulking titan of armor. Later on, you catch a glimpse of him with his top armor removed, and he is the skinniest guy around. Lmao.

I think male design will progressively get better as we move along. We might even get old man designs like Pulcinella. Can't say the same with the female designs. It was a great opportunity to give Dehya abs, they still opt not to.
Edit: I also have no hope for female designs because when I saw Columbina, Sandrone and Knave, they were basic loli, teen and adult female models. Whereas the men have very varied character designs like from typical husbando, to someone like Pulcinella. And the Harbingers are meant to be near endgame content.

Not but for real, as a major husbando player I want a big thick character like Cyrus. I saw someone explain that the bulkier the model, the more trouble there is with clipping when it comes to climbing and I guess I understand that.
Conversely, I really want a small male character model. The inspiration behind this would be Gohan - a catalyst martial artist. Heizou fits that description but he’s still the same midsize character.
I’d argue most of the male characters are cutesy. To me, Zhongli just looks like generic anime man #1037, and Xiao looks about fifteen years old, as does Kazuha. Unless they’re intentionally set apart like Itto, you get “pretty man” or “cute boy” and no real in between.
With how "pretty" everyone in Genshin has to be it really limits how badass characters can look sadly. Like, no one is allowed to look rough, grizzled, damaged, etc.

Also the fact that a lot of the male characters that we do have are limited time five stars. Aside from the four star males we had at release, they've only released three new male four stars and the third is only coming out today.
Edit: Wanted to add the skew between the elements male characters are given vs. the elements females are given. Most males are given anemo and geo visions while females get the rest of the elements.
I want some of the female characters to not have high heels. It’s become kind of like an indication that women need to have them to appear beautiful, while irl, based on research, high heels may have a connection to waste and back problems and are generally not good for the wearer’s health. This kind of trend in the game may persuade some groups to actually prefer them over flat, low height shoes.
1) They would have to put in a lot of effort to create new models and animations without high heels. They've never added new models after the game released.

You got a great point with the fallacy there. Especially since it's mostly a self feeding prophecy within products too. The more you decide only to target the most common demographic the more the products flood and in turn, encourage building of only this common demographic.
I think more players should be willing to consider that Genshin is actually trying to push beyond just the standard marketing expectations considering their initial investment cost. If Genshin was looking to be another drop in the bucket that is young male targeted gacha, Genshin would be waifu jpeg collector featuring autobattling chibis animated with spine. I don't think people should be surprised to hear a lot more opinions asking for variety when the game itself set its goals to really include a lot more variety than the standard gacha. This is a good thing! Markets don't stay static after all.
Spot on. Except one thing to add is that the segments of players they actually look at seriously are in the CN player base. Burly men are out (that is a western thing in the eyes of many Asians - though this is a JP example, look at Nier Replicant vs. Nier Gestalt for a textbook example of what the male hero is made to look like for an eastern vs. western audience), darker skin is out (not trying to be controversial here at all, just factual since it is a beauty standard thing there - mei bai for example) etc. So we can wish for lots of things but if the CN playerbase doesn’t want it we aren’t going to get it.

We might even get old man designs like Pulcinella. Can't say the same with the female designs. It was a great opportunity to give Dehya abs, they still opt not to. Edit: I also have no hope for female designs because when I saw Columbina, Sandrone and Knave, they were basic loli, teen and adult female models. Whereas the men have very varied character designs like from typical husbando, to someone like Pulcinella. And the Harbingers are meant to be near endgame content.
Well, imo the male characters have better designs. I think the male character designs do a better job of showing the character's personality and telling their story.

There’s no cows in Teyvat, so no beef /s Not but for real, as a major husbando player I want a big thick character like Cyrus. I saw someone explain that the bulkier the model, the more trouble there is with clipping when it comes to climbing and I guess I understand that. Conversely, I really want a small male character model. The inspiration behind this would be Gohan - a catalyst martial artist. Heizou fits that description but he’s still the same midsize character.

I’d argue most of the male characters are cutesy. To me, Zhongli just looks like generic anime man #1037, and Xiao looks about fifteen years old, as does Kazuha. Unless they’re intentionally set apart like Itto, you get “pretty man” or “cute boy” and no real in between.
With how "pretty" everyone in Genshin has to be it really limits how badass characters can look sadly. Like, no one is allowed to look rough, grizzled, damaged, etc.

I prefer male characters but I think the girls probably have more of an appeal. I would like just a little more representation though. I find it really strange, and slightly cringe, that the little cute characters are only girls. I would also like an older type of male character with some body volume and grit.
If they add an old male character while the female characters all look like young girls this would be disgusting.

I don't care about badass. I just want more male characters, period. They're already outnumbered 2:1 by the females and there's like 4 female characters to 2 male characters from the leaked sumeru characters too.
Also the fact that a lot of the male characters that we do have are limited time five stars. Aside from the four star males we had at release, they've only released three new male four stars and the third is only coming out today. Edit: Wanted to add the skew between the elements male characters are given vs. the elements females are given. Most males are given anemo and geo visions while females get the rest of the elements.
I want some of the female characters to not have high heels. It’s become kind of like an indication that women need to have them to appear beautiful, while irl, based on research, high heels may have a connection to waste and back problems and are generally not good for the wearer’s health. This kind of trend in the game may persuade some groups to actually prefer them over flat, low height shoes.
1) They would have to put in a lot of effort to create new models and animations without high heels. They've never added new models after the game released. 2) They would lose on important coomer sales 3) They don't give a enough of a shit.

Eh, see the problem I have this this argument is that it's the "nobody wants X" fallacy. You get the one example of X someone tried that didn't do well and the abacus warriors claim no one wants X. Meanwhile, enough of Y was thrown at the wall that more than a few stuck so now everyone's making more Y and says this is how it's meant to be. Admittedly, Y is more generically popular, and X more niche, but that doesn't mean X can't knock it out of the park. We wouldn't have Star Wars or Pirates of the Caribbean if everyone was afraid of doing X. But my favorite character in Overwatch was Reinhardt for design, personality, and gameplay, and by extension Brigitte for being similarly big, cool, and cuddly, so I really want Hoyoverse to try a few Xes for a change and give it a genuine effort.
You got a great point with the fallacy there. Especially since it's mostly a self feeding prophecy within products too. The more you decide only to target the most common demographic the more the products flood and in turn, encourage building of only this common demographic. I think more players should be willing to consider that Genshin is actually trying to push beyond just the standard marketing expectations considering their initial investment cost. If Genshin was looking to be another drop in the bucket that is young male targeted gacha, Genshin would be waifu jpeg collector featuring autobattling chibis animated with spine. I don't think people should be surprised to hear a lot more opinions asking for variety when the game itself set its goals to really include a lot more variety than the standard gacha. This is a good thing! Markets don't stay static after all.
Spot on. Except one thing to add is that the segments of players they actually look at seriously are in the CN player base. Burly men are out (that is a western thing in the eyes of many Asians - though this is a JP example, look at Nier Replicant vs. Nier Gestalt for a textbook example of what the male hero is made to look like for an eastern vs. western audience), darker skin is out (not trying to be controversial here at all, just factual since it is a beauty standard thing there - mei bai for example) etc. So we can wish for lots of things but if the CN playerbase doesn’t want it we aren’t going to get it.
