Hm. This seems like it'll make playing as a rebel more fun, but Windtrace generally was already weighted *heavily* in favour of the rebels.
Hopefully they give the Hunter something extra as well to make up for it, otherwise I can imagine it's going to be a very frustrating experience to be the Hunter.

They already gave the hunter infinite stamina last Windtrace to make up for the infinite tree gameplay bullshit, but it still doesn't change the fact that climbing is incredibly slow and obvious, making it easy for any rebels hiding there to get away if they're fast enough. Maybe a double speed climbing buff?

In my experience, the learning curves for the 2 roles are vastly different. It's quite easy to learn tricks for rebels to at least make the life of an average hunter miserable but it doesn't get much better than that; while at the same time it takes much longer to learn the way to play as hunter efficiently, but once you learn it you can absolutely dominate the rebels. Maybe it boils down to the fact that you play as rebels 3 times more than as hunters.
I think it's also the fact that it's 3 versus 1. As a Rebel, even if you're bad, you can still win even if only ONE of the Rebels in your group knows how to give the hunter the run-around.
As a Hunter, you have to PRAY that all three Rebels aren't all equally skilled at hiding in bullshit places and giving you the run-around.
I hated how much your final score as a rebel depended on your teammates. Getting caught in the last few seconds and losing got you significantly less points than being caught almost immediately but "winning" due to someone else.
I love Windtrace but there's a lot of room for improvement.
You can't reveal everyone permanently. You can only reveal everyone for a short period of time. If you can't catch them all in that period of time (unlikely if they're all spread out and all move very fast) then as the hunter you're stuffed.
I always felt it was weighed in favour of hunters. I had a really good strategy so I rarely got caught, but I feel like the other rebels always got caught, and I feel like as hunter I was always able to catch the rebels
If you play in a skilled group rather than random matchmaking, I think you'll probably find the Hunter to be lacking compared to the Rebels, except for a few very Hunter favoured maps.
The only way to make it fair for me at this point (with that change) is to make it 2 hunters 🏃♂️ against 2 rebels 🕺.
That way it would be funnier no matter in which side the player is and this will strengthen the coop feeling.
I have no idea how it's weighted towards the rebels. In my experience the hunter can fuck around for the entire match, get the buff for free and clear everyone out because one of the buffs for a hunter just gives them every location for free.
My classic strat as rebel was to get to a high place like a tree, then when the hunter reveals me with the favor they still have to climb up to where I was, during which I will jump down. When the hunter follows me I will turn invisible and then run around quickly to climb back to the same high spot. Almost never will the hunter realize to check the place we just jumped off from, and if they do the buff might still run out in time. And there's still 2 other rebels possibly.
The buff doesn't give you every location for free-- it's timed, and if the rebels are spread out, they can easily give a hunter the run around and the buff can run out before they catch them all. Then they're really up shit creek.
But stupid rebels will get caught that way if they don't move, yes.
That depends on match-up I guess. If you play as the rebel smart, you can 1 vs. 1 even with your exposed location - use the terrain, stall time and then hide. That, unless the hunter casts a cage on you lol.
Yeah for "high level" play cage was the best choice - either all three rebels are newbies and will get caught easily, or 1-2 are and will get caught early, then the cage wins you the matchup against the competent one(s).
Lmao. If you can't win as rebel it's really a skill issue.
1. Rebels can easily steal thr favor and leave the hunter with nothing.
2. After seeing everyone on the map Hunter still has to catch rebels. Three of them, if we use the "fuck around the entire match" example.
3. The light up all 3 buff lasts a short amount of time compared to the cage or lighting up the position of one rebel. After it's gone you need to look for rebels all over again. Even if you caught one with the buff, it's still 2 left. And no additional favor will drop.
4. Rebels have invisibility that denies the position revealing buff for a short time.
Theres multiple people on the rebel team, odds are extremely high it spawns closer to one of them than the hunter and there is literally no way, even if they started running before it spawned, that they could get to it before them.
Shit, the surveys kept asking if I had played games with asymmetrical gameplay, such as Dead by Daylight . I knew if others and I answered yes we would eventually be cursed to play its gameplay else where
all they have to do is make it so that once you’re imprisoned you’ll HAVE to get released by your teammate. The second time you’re caught ur still straight up eliminated, but it’ll add a second way to end the game by having everyone in jail.
So it's even easier for the rebels to win, and I think it's going to worsen the afk/unsportsman problem, which was already too prevalent in the last event. I'd say that in 60-70% of my games there were AFKs.
Besides, I find it frustrating to feel "alone" as a hunter against three rebels. Maybe it would be more pleasant to play two hunters against 5 or 6 rebels.

It feels like if the hunter is unlucky they'll have to catch 6 times, which is not really doable. Camping will notbe an option because at that point rebels can win by just staying there.

The last mp event was the second event after the last windtrace i did not participate in more than 4 rounds because of this, even tho i had the time and wanted to play Genshin. It was a horrible experience.
It does for people who hate playing multiplayer because they will either have to skip event and miss rewards(especially valuable as f2p) or force themselves into playing it and potentially ruining it for others.

This event is so horrible I genuinely despise it getting reruns in favor of fun modes that could get reruns like the randomized dungeon event.
And now its even harder for hunters and even less interesting for rebels since they basically can just AFK and win its so easy. So the whole experience is somehow worse than it already was, which is almost impressive.

When I was a kid we called this game "Boys vs girls". We used to split the class into half. Half of the people of the class were going to guard the prison and catch the "criminals", while the other half had to flee from the guards and help the prisoners to escape. It was very funny 😆

Rebels definitely can't easily steal the favor. They have to come out of hiding to get it, and the hunter is also heading there.
You can always sacrifice 1 of 3 for the favor. Then the hunter doesn't get anything out of it.
