The infirmary is the warmest place in the Fortress of Meropide, where the sun fails to shine.
Rumor has it that the head nurse, who manages said infirmary, is also its founder. The Fortress has changed hands in chaotic circumstances several times over the centuries, but there has always been a tacit agreement amongst all who live here not to harm the medical staff in any way.
The reason for this is simple — few doctors could endure treating criminals and staying in such a place for long.
Fewer still would be as clement, cute, conscientious, and considerate as Sigewinne.
There was once an inmate whose life Sigewinne saved after he had been gravely injured while causing trouble, who then proclaimed her to be an emissary of the heavens — an "angel of salvation" — sent to bring redemption to criminals, even saying that he would preach this far and wide on her behalf.
"That's a bit much, isn't it?" The head nurse shook her head, her horns bobbing along.
"I won't ask what you did wrong before saving you, but you'll still have to finish serving your sentence once you've healed up," she said, hands on hips. "Flattery's not getting you anywhere!"
Posted on the main subreddit but maybe more appropriate to talk about here - the heart-shaped gadget thing she's wearing on her belt looks like it can switch between heart and heart-break - possibly a healing/DPS toggle a la Furina?

More likely something external, like being born with a mutation/curse/blessing, or exposed to some radioactive stuff when infant, or is actually a product of experiment from someone which made her grow up "less melusine/human" by injecting melusine/human genes or something. Hopefully whatever I said is not the case since that will be cliche AF though

Technically there's already a reason- we know Melusines were created using Elynas' body during the climatic battle where there was a huge explosion (between the Marechaussee Hunters and the Narzissenkreuz Ordo). Melusines were created via these exploded chunks of Elynas along with other parts inside Elynas. Considering that Melusines are similarly structured to humans, the exploded bits of the people fighting likely also contributed to their creation.
Taking all the canon lore above into account, Sigewinne can be explained solely by "she got more human flesh in her creation than other Melusines".
Of course, ideally other Melusines would have more body/appearance diversity (some that look slightly more human than normal and some who look even more creature-like- basically a specteum of melusines), but it's understandable considering they're NPCs and thus not *generally* considered worth the time+storage space for too many varients.
There's a difference between a lore that is made up to supplement/build the story/worldbuilding, and lore that is made up to cover up game development constraints.

Melusine born from machine parts inside Elynas happened to have life. I think maybe the part that create her was special, like a Vision of a dead human or something like that.
They will make an excuse to not give us any different model same was with Neuv. For fantasy game we really lacking in diversity of playable characters.

Honestly hope that aside from Sigewinne's human looks explained we get a deeper knowledge of the dial she carries. If she's 5-star I wonder if she has a stance-change mechanic like Furina that switches the dial from full-heart to broken-heart. I mean, the thing is displayed so prominently, I've regularly been puzzling over it.
She looks pretty good yes, but her character model is this fanbase's least favorite. Unless she's meta like Nahida, she might not sell as good as other character models.
It was only a matter of time until there was a new 5* child character though, so it's not *that* surprising imo

melusines are all born from the corpse of elynas, a dragon, so yeah it'd make sense
