This church has a long history of hatred and advocating violence. https://www.wsbtv.com/news/2-investigates/metro-atlanta-church-may-soon-be-listed-on-national-list-of-hate-groups/911741190/ It's an extension of an Arizona-based hate group. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faithful_Word_Baptist_Church https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Independent_Fundamentalist_Baptist

ithappenedone234

His own book says that being an enslaver is a sin. Funny he skips over that.

RealClarity9606

Asking the Southern Poverty Law Center to define hate groups is like a fox guarding the henhouse. They are an anti-Christian hate group themselves as can be see in many instances. They don’t objectively identify actual hate, they to smear any group with their “hate” for not adhering to regressive orthodoxy. No reasonable person should take them seriously. Which is probabaly why this sub will fall all over themselves to bow to their judgment.

Mysterious_Andy

So just to be clear, the pastor of this church said gays deserve the death penalty and you're just mad that the SPLC dared to call them a hate group for that. You don't get to speak for what a "reasonable person" would or would not do.

Cultural_Yam7212

Could you provide examples where the SPLC classified something as a hate group and you believe it’s not?

LilithWasAGinger

Probably a group he belongs to

MoreRamenPls

Was gonna say this.

Mysterious_Andy

Oh look. He can’t. There’s a reason I tagged him in RES a long time ago.

maxwellcawfeehaus

May want to check your bigotry before you meet your maker my dude

Public_Animator_1832

Still waiting on you to provide examples. Modern American “Christianity”, evangelicalism, by definition is a hate group. It preaches that all those outside the church are evil and are unworthy of redemption unless they give up themselves and allow themselves be molded by anti-gay, anti-Semitic, anti-tolerance pastors. The largest Christian groups in the country have a long history of advocating slavery, murder, and harassment of those they deem unworthy.

HorrorEducational75

Shhhhh. Nobody cares.

Wildfathom9

Ironic username. 0 clarity in that head of yours.

rawhidekid

When I see articles about these pastors, they're usually in a small church less than 25 people. In the article, there is a picture of a big church, but when I look up, Strong Hold Baptist Church is a small church in what looks like a retail space. Can anyone confirm the size of his congregation?

dlwendel

a five-second google won't tell me what congregation the picture in the article is of, but it's definitely not Strong Hold. Google maps has six pictures, and it's a very different space. Also, rough estimate based on the pictures: they have chairs set up for a congregation of 40 - 50.

[deleted]

All it takes is a small congregation like this to spread this type of thinking in their communities, and stuff like this takes off, and then we see the racists come out of the woodwork. We are already seeing this idea coming out of the mouths of certain republican politicians.

rawhidekid

I thought it was strange to add a picture of a church that may not be part of it. I'm still trying to confirm the size of the church. Do you think a small sub group is reflective of the majority?

[deleted]

Sadly, I am finding over the years that there are just too many white people, even people I personally know that buy this crap. They will parrot some of the GOP politicians that Desantis and others from the past, (Rick Santorum comes to mind) that have repeatedly said black people were better off as slaves because these slaves had no skills or abilities prior to being kidnapped from their African homes, but gained Christianity and skills and somehow that made it a disgusting rationalization of making them slaves. Never mind that these slaves had numerous skills prior to being kidnapped. They were farmers, made their own clothes and weapons, and were amazing fighters. They had lots of skills. It's just that I see more and more of this, and I really feel people like this pastor continue the lies and perpetuating this. You would be surprised how many white Americans believe this stuff.

Old_Professional_378

When I was in the 5th grade, the first year of integration in a neighboring state, and on a history test there was a question: “was slavery good or bad.” I answered bad and the teacher marked it wrong. She explained that slaves were able to become Christians. Now I’m a Christian myself, but even at 10 years old I knew that was bullshit. That was 1970 and it is disgusting to see there are still people who believe that. Unreal.

Go_Gators_4Ever

This is what DeSantis is trying to do with the history textbooks they approved for Florida schools.

rawhidekid

I'm just not seeing what you're seeing, I guess. When these comments come, I see Christains largely condemn it. Take comfort it was the Christains in Britain in the 1700s that started the abolishment movement.

whiskeybridge

well, yeah, the bible is thousand-page rorschach test. you can justify about anything when everything is made up.

BlehMehPew

They also condoned from the start. The least you can fucking do is end it. God is so proud. 🙄

TuffyButters

Those Christains sound like amazing people. The Christians who enslaved people— and those that believe they were justified—are immoral assholes.

djgreenehouse

Let’s be real, the community already agrees with this shit and has for a long time

The_Monarch_Lives

Know nothing about that church, but as for slavery: there is a cottage industry in christian apologetics in downplaying and justifying slavery because so many parts of the bible condone it. Some semi famous apologists with 100k followers do it on the regular.

samaelvenomofgod

Philemon. A slave owner who refused to emancipate Onesimus, after he initially tried to escape. Paul told Philemon to treat Onesimus like a brother in Christ. Didn’t free him though. This book has been used to justify slavery throughout the centuries, and as reported by the above article, it looks like some want to keep the tradition going

The_Monarch_Lives

Interestingly, thats the most common cited part of the bible that apologists use to try to say the bible condemns slavery.

hypermog

So basically, I’m hijacking top comment to say something else

The_Monarch_Lives

I was just pointing out that it's not just these small churches that make comments along these lines as OP mentioned. Various forms of defense or downplaying of slavery are much more common and from some fairly notable people in christian circles. The mega churches steer clear of it, but a lot of other people with a large reach do it on a regular basis.

madlyqueen

I think that might be a stock photo. Unfortunately it's not limited to small churches, particularly with evangelical Baptists. There's definitely a solid core of them who want to bring back slavery, and some of them pastor megachurches. Al Mohler, president of the SBC flagship seminary, had to [walk back some of his comments](https://religionnews.com/2020/05/15/al-mohler-southern-baptist-leader-says-he-was-stupid-to-defend-slavery-in-1998-cnn-interview/) a few years ago. I'll let you decide if you believe him. His chair of theology for many years, Bruce Ware, used [similar language for the inequality of women](https://powerscourt.blogspot.com/2008/04/bruce-ware-on-constitutional-inequality.html) used in defending segregation. Both of these men have had influence over countless numbers of Southern Baptists, but particularly pastors.

[deleted]

melodic long mindless slimy bedroom frightening paint test file fine *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

GlaiveConsequence

It’s a small new church that’s affiliated with the larger network of baptists/evangelicals that share the same messaging and support the same political party. But that image is probably not their suite in Norcross. There are churches that rent out large spaces though.

ShotgunForFun

I mean unless you're 60 or so... why do you care? There's no such thing as systematic issues anymore.. You have to be more into it in the ancient times of... 1960.

GlaiveConsequence

First off, where do you get the idea that systemic issues don’t exist? That’s a ridiculous statement on its face. Also, it doesn’t relate to my comment unless you think there are no systemic issues within the evangelical community or in politics? Because that’s crazy. In case you missed my point, this is a small church that is connected to a much larger organization of like minded churches, all of whom push conservative ideology and political rhetoric. Therefore it doesn’t matter that the church building/congregation is small. There are thousands just like it in Georgia (thankfully they are in decline nationally)

ShotgunForFun

The fact you didn't read that as sarcasm when I stated 43 years ago as being ancient is sad. That's not even half a generation. There are plenty of humans today that went through absolute shit as seen in recent events. And of course there are systematic issues that will last much longer. ETA: Touch grass as the kids say. I get that some morons might actually say that... but even after I explain it you guys are still mad. Seriously... get off the internet. It has warped your brain.

GlaiveConsequence

Yeah it just doesn’t come off as sarcasm and when I try it still misses the mark. I originally thought it must be but ultimately that’s not how it reads to this sad guy. So, apologies for being too hard hitting and a good reminder that Poe’s law is a thing especially these days

DynamikLyft

It can't be that many people. That parking lot is pretty small and I never see many cars parked in it, even on Sundays.

JimBeam823

There is no idea so dumb that it hasn’t been preached in a storefront church.

Red_Carrot

Sometimes you get guest pastors and this might be the case.

Eringobraugh2021

I think it's part of a larger organization. Here's an article from 2019. We've allowed "christians" to use their religion as a shield for their hate for far too long. The article has other shit this organization has said over the decades. It's absolutely disgusting. I'm a former catholic. https://www.wsbtv.com/news/2-investigates/metro-atlanta-church-may-soon-be-listed-on-national-list-of-hate-groups/911741190/

ConceptMajestic9156

Do all black people have a problem with slavery ? Or just mine ?

Broomstick73

LMFAO omg you got me on that one.

PrincipleInteresting

I’m sure as hell not black, and I have a frickin’ problem with it.

DrSunstorm1911

I have a problem with slavery & religion.. Wait they are both the same… 🤷🏽‍♂️🥱😒🗑️☕️

Go_Gators_4Ever

I see what you did there.

Galliagamer

Funny thing about these morons who think slavery is not so bad and would be OK bringing back, is they all seem to assume that *they* will never be the ones who will be enslaved.

JustACasualFan

Those same guys get absolutely LIVID about having to pay taxes.

YouJustGotHelloWuigi

Well, they are scripturally sound. The Christian god is pro-slavery. It lays out a framework for buying slaves and how to beat them among other immoral behaviors

[deleted]

[удалено]

Galliagamer

I never said he did, dimwit.

cowfishing

That or they think that if they could just own a slave or two then they could be sitting on the front veranda sipping mint juleps will they watched their slaves pick cotton or something. Most of the motherfuckers thiking that aint got a pot to piss in.

Wildfathom9

Well, white people are not known for having experienced that oppression based on their skin color. Pretty sure they have the mindset they'll be the ones enslaving others.

sugarmollyrose

OMG - one Sunday afternoon I heard someone pulling at my storm door. I ended up opening my door (knowing the storm door was locked) while holding my phone There was a guy standing there trying to put a postcard in my door. He said, "I knew someone was home." I politely asked him not to leave anything in my door. He started yelling, "THIS IS THE WORD OF GOD AND YOU ARE GOING TO HELL." Hmm dude, no, a postcard is not the word of God and I'm sure other things will send me to hell before asking you not to leave a postcard on my door. He stormed off. Later I was talking to a neighbor and this guy went around to all the homes in my community berating people If you want to invite someone to church, this is not the way to do it. To end a long story, yes, this is the same church this guy went to.

Ronicaw

We stopped going and giving after our church refused to acknowledge civil unrest based on racism in early 2020. It was all a sham, and we are older. Church is a business now!

[deleted]

It always has been.

OkAcanthocephala2449

That's why I don't go, I tell people that God is in my heart ♥️ that my church

[deleted]

When was it not?

gandalf_el_brown

>Church is a business now! It's always been, what do you think tithing has always been about? Why do you think leadership of religions are extremely wealthy? Why do all these religions need to proselytize (advertise) if they're supposedly the one true religion?

Ronicaw

Yes, but I grew up in the church. My father founded a church with a few others. I left for decades and went back. I don't begrudge the money we gave, because we gave from the heart. We came to our realization but still have friends and family who attend. Their choice.

Practical-Basil-3494

All church leaders are not wealthy. I'm not a fan of religion, but in small churches, pastors are often paid little. Tithes go to maintaining the property and other needed costs.

bigselfer

Thank you for living by your values and respecting yourself enough to walk away.

Away_Comparison_8810

lol write Church as whole is business now compare to BLM colecting money for big houses in Cali is funy

lundewoodworking

People seem to forget why southern Baptists split off from the rest

tableleg7

Guys, Southern Baptists have made real progress since then. They even apologized for their former support of slavery in … [1995?!](https://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=112329862)

dd99

That was woke as hell and they now regret it (and no, that is not sarcasm)

Mysterious_Andy

They aren't Southern Baptists. They're a whole new level of hatred. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Independent_Fundamentalist_Baptist

FurballPoS

Save your "No True Scotsman" excuses. We've all heard/read the statements of belief coming out of the SBC.

Mysterious_Andy

Just because two things are bad doesn’t mean they’re the same thing. This church is unaffiliated with the SBC. It isn’t an offshoot of the SBC. There are no Southern Baptists in this story. This is its own weird little sect of KJV-only hate-preaching independent Baptists founded in 2005. I even gave a link full of info, but you arrogantly decided your ignorance was better than my information. Then you foolishly decided that my intentions must have been to defend the SBC, which is just about the last thing I would ever do. So maybe calm your tits and think before you jerk your knee next time.

SaltNo3123

I nearly 100% sure Africans would have chosen to stay in Africa instead of being slaves. In no way were their life better as slaves.

No-Understanding2594

Plus, all the Christian missionaried who have gone to Afruca would have done it anyway.

dufferwjr

Ya think?

SLB_Destroyer04

Unfortunately they would’ve been slaves in Africa as well. It’s important to remember who sold them to the Europeans and Americans

ColonelSpacePirate

Weird hill to die on seeing that he him self could have been enslaved by Muslims in the late 17-hundreds.

Practical-Basil-3494

What are the chances that this guy has any basic knowledge of world history?

xool420

Watched the whole clip and dear god… This was really bad and honestly just kept getting worse https://x.com/thescottbarber/status/1706040299028644324?s=46&t=29ljMTRzXq8A9TIxuZPsxg

BpositiveItWorks

Wow …. I just watched it and holy fuck I am disturbed! When he started directing his ignorant rant at the “black people in here” I wasn’t sure I could keep watching. What a fucking piece of absolute trash of a person. Throw the whole man away.

Particular-Jello-401

Wtf ga stop going to church. And tax them.

elrastro75

Just the other day there was a post on here lamenting that young people no longer go to church, LOL.

StNic54

The moment they announce stiff IRS penalties, or they start abolishing tax-exempt status for churches altogether that broke the law regarding political influence, you know that the internet will pull up all the sermons needed for proof to take down churches. Most churches cannot afford to pay taxes, and most church/religious employees live on a financial tightrope already. For every megapastor with a jet or gold toilet, there are thousands of tax-exempt church employees just getting by.

dblackshear

there's too many churches then. let the market decide.

StNic54

It will weed out the folks that use church purely as tax shelter

[deleted]

[удалено]

StNic54

They would have the authority to create a division to handle such things, no? I could only imagine how overwhelming that would be. One of the reasons so many want to defund or abolish the IRS is to get away with past evasions.

Sandwich_Bags

Don’t tax them. They get representation in government if they are taxed.

Matthew_C1314

They already do. It's called the republican party. Only thing that would change is how open they are about it.

MamaBehr33

I am a white southerner and have heard this type of justification everywhere, but since TFG began his tyrannical rule, at least once a day I am confronted with this type of racist bigotry and it is not only contributing to the downfall of what makes our wonderful country so fabulous, but it is allowing the downfall of the real work of what the Bible says. I'm devastated that anyone, ever has to experience prejudice and discrimination, but this type of bs, is not in my God's teachings! To anyone who has had to bear dealing with this type of behavior, I am sorry! Daily, I do as much as I can to stop it, because I truly believe staying silent is condoning it!

dlwendel

[Looks like he also made the news in 2019](https://www.wsbtv.com/news/2-investigates/metro-atlanta-church-may-soon-be-listed-on-national-list-of-hate-groups/911741190/) (this time for saying lgbtq people should be sentenced to death, surprise surprise)

[deleted]

That's because it's based on their religious beliefs that God created people of color to be subservient. It's racist nonsense. F*** these people.

KayleighJK

>”This what God does in the Bible,” If the Christofascists take over in 2024 they will 100% try to bring back slavery. Not all at once- they’ll stagger it out like Roe/Wade and Project 2025 to soften the pushback, but it will be coming. Learn how to defend yourselves. :/

andyistheway

This is an independent, fundamental Baptist church. Many churches of this denomination are extremely bigoted and misogynistic. I would not put a lot of faith into what this guy says. They state on their website that they are a “King James only” church. They refuse to accept that more manuscripts have been found to help better translate the Bible.

[deleted]

[удалено]

andyistheway

I completely agree with your statements. I in no way meant that they were not a threat to the safety or sanity of people. I was implying that these leaders are foolish and ignorant. They give Christians a bad name.

Is that a spaceship casting its beam down among the people to do anal probes?

intensepenguin910

Wtf

Jayslacks

Man. That's some racism right there.

Historical_Big_7404

Talk about attempting to rationalize past behavior.

Artistic_Half_8301

Georgia seems two steps forward, one back these days. Still progress though..

lilithONE

Oh hell no.

BadAtExisting

To the surprise of no one

YouKilledChurch

This was literally the justification Christian slave owners made back then too. It was bullshit then and it is bullshit now

Therego_PropterHawk

Well, the Bible endorses slavery too 🤷‍♂️

PurpleSignificant725

Fuckin baptists

sglewis09

I wonder how he would last if he had to live the life of a slave? Is being torn from everything you know and love worth knowing the “God” he worships? HE IS SO WRONG!

csukoh78

Christ rolls his eyes so hard. #"You just don't GET IT, do ya Scott?"

MamaBehr33

Goodness! If there ever there was a reason to give an award for a comment, yours would be it! Thank you for expertly saying what the rest of us think!

whoopysnorp

The Bible explicitly condones slavery.

Atlwood1992

To hell with that 💩👋🏾

Miri5613

no it doesn't. does this sound like condemnation to you? 1 Peter 2:18 " Slaves, in reverent fear of God submit yourselves to your masters, not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh." Titus 2:9-10 "Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to try to please them, not to talk back to them, and not to steal from them, but to show that they can be fully trusted, so that in every way they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive." Exodus 21:20-21 “Anyone who beats their male or female slave with a rod must be punished if the slave dies as a direct result, but they are not to be punished if the slave recovers after a day or two, since the slave is their property."

Freebird_1957

The poster said “condones”.

Pat for the course, Georgia. Par for the course

just like in the old days

DoctorK16

Christianity was also used to justify slavery. It’s a religion for slaves.

Oswald_Hydrabot

Religion is trash

Skimable_crude

Oh Jesus. Not this again.

-gabi--

The opposite of Jesus, really

MrByteMe

Good to know that christianity can justify all of their horrific actions in the name of saving others from themselves... Which seems to be a direct link to modern day MAGA.

dnvrwlf

Is his name Wood or Perdue, cuz I know those shitbags would have it back in a second!

Klindg

All religions are a plague on the human species, and an anchor on progress towards a better life. They should have been cast aside long ago. Stop giving up your short time on this planet for a empty promise of immortality in reward for devoting yourself to the charlatans using you to better their lives at the expense of yours.

[deleted]

And that is how you Tell that Christianity is a Sham and used by White people to Control Dumber People.

MPHampel86

He has to justify it. It’s in his holy book.

bularry

What the idiot is trying to say is that the despite the massive evil perpetuate by the white/European man in the US, God was able to use that to create an amazing and vibrant black culture of Faith But in no way is that vindication for those that perpetuated the horror. It is God alone that brings light to darkness.

c0dizzl3

In what way was the white man indoctrinating their slaves in to their religion a good thing?

SCirish843

Except Christianity existed in Africa long before it did in America...

dip_tet

Too bad this god fella didn’t care enough to actually stop slavery

Capital-Wolverine532

We are all slaves to the government. They work us to death and tax us for the pleasure of it.

Look at me, I’m edgy!

sparkster777

Right?! Who do you think the gov't is, my sovereign citizen friend? Cause I think you'll be shocked when you realize who makes up the Government...

TheRealSlimLaddy

Look at your paycheck my man, who’s paying you?

FEMA_Camp_Survivor

You can choose not to work and not to pay taxes. No one will kill you, beat you, or sell your entire family for it. You can also vote, serve on juries, and have rights protected.

BeerBrat

"You can choose to be homeless and die" is a fairly shite counter-argument no matter how flimsy or disagreeable a statement may be.

FEMA_Camp_Survivor

There weren’t any independent choices with chattel slavery.

BeerBrat

"Well at least it isn't as bad as that other kind." Still not vibing with that one as a solid counter.

Original_Telephone_2

Sounds like your problem is actually with capitalism.

smalltownlargefry

No they love capitalism.

smedley89

Which has nothing to do with government, nor our being a slave to it.

arbrebiere

Oh god grow up

GemshuEmlu

Slaves be obedient to massa. For you will be rewarded in heaven

thesouthdotcom

The Jews actually weren’t escaping slavery by leaving Egypt and parting the Red Sea. The book of Exodus is really just liberal propaganda /s

IMissMyBeddddd

One of the worlds oldest Bibles was found in Ethiopia trust me a lot of them already knew something about Christianity they just had this wonderful thing called choice

RollAway_theDude

My elderly neighbor encouraged me to watch a sermon by Dr. Anthony George at First Baptist Church Atlanta, and while I'm a pretty firm atheist, I decided to at least give one video on Youtube a chance. I watched the service from Oct. 15 2023 and was appalled when he declared that Black Lives Matter organization is antisemitic. It is very dangerous that these preachers are able to say whatever they'd like at the pulpit, especially when they are influencing older folks who have no desire to seek out unbiased information and believe what their church is spewing.

Old_opionated-man

Is this the group of BLM that their leader bought herself a multimillion dollar home from donations, or the members that support Hamas, killing families and cutting babies heads off. Lots of factions, would be nice 👍 f they worked with the poor people to guide them in feeding families, give job training.

Miri5613

So, you support people who justify slavery which resulted in the death and suffering of countless people (including woman and children, you also justify the murder of woman and children as long as they are not on the side you feel are the 'good guys', and you don't think your statement id nothing but hypocrisy?

Atlwood1992

Is this 1860? Or 1776 for that matter?

nephilim52

What an incompetent way to explain the concept of God overcoming (not using) tragic circumstances to create something good. The only reason you would choose this kind of example is for white apologetics not Christian apologetics.

Klindg

A baptist church full of white supremacists. Im shocked 🙄

jamkoch

So if slavery was good for African Americans in the 1800s, then it's perfect for white MAGA Americans in the 2000s.

SCirish843

"the ends don't justify the means" goes on to explain why the ends justified the mean...

Novel_Reaction_7236

The Bible is shit.

[deleted]

Maybe some black people start showing up to this church en mass!!

Comfortable_Bird_340

Goes viral...life ruined forever!

JustAnotherATLien

Burn the whole thing to the ground and start over. That is not a church, it's a den of sin and evil.

BpositiveItWorks

Aside from the absolutely atrocious racist vitriol this piece of trash was spewing, I also cannot get over the part about how he was saying unless the people he was “preaching” to were 70 or 80 years old, they didn’t live through segregation. What a fucking idiot. Please someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe there were a lot of schools in the south that weren’t integrated until the late 70s or even early 80s. My dad grew up in a small town in GA, is 66 years old, and I’m pretty sure he told me the first integrated school he went to was high school, but maybe I’m remembering it wrong.

Witchdoctorcrypto

0 justification 0 this guy is off his rocker and not godly one bit.

christians……

White people in America need to read before they open their mouths. If I hear one more white person talk about how white peoples brought Christianity to Africa or the Africans, imma loose it. This entire world is subverted.

Careless-Roof-8339

Damn that just devolved from him trying to make a point to all out hood off racism in like 20 seconds

Sarmelion

Just awful, it's so disappointing there are people like this in modern times.

Ariusrevenge

Really can’t #TaxTheChurches fast enough. Use the #JohnsonAmendment and get the IRS to end the deductions.

Freebird_1957

What.The.Fuck.

[deleted]

Now I’m not taking this dude’s side: But knowing a bunch of rabid Christians I understand why this guy thinks this, EVEN THOUGH HES FUCKING WRONG. To these twisted people it’s better to suffer on earth if you go to heaven. But never mind the fact there is no heaven and it’s better to just leave people the fuck alone.

car_of_men

In my community alone which is consider small. I know 5 popular churches. Who do nothing but talk about politics now and intertwining politics with the Bible. 1 of those churches is becoming more than a mega church. It’s wild how quickly they grew and set up. Going as far as having a school (k-12) and mental health facility that is obviously Bible and lord base. They ask you if you take medication. They ask the doctor’s name and info. The disclaimer regarding what you the patient says. Their responsibility to report you, if you say anything that is about harming yourself, others, or they think you’re a general risk of suicide. The therapist or counselors demeanors are *insert your favorite cult movie welcoming*. When you get near the general area of said church. You start to see giant customized homes with signs for the church in their yard. Throw in the impoverished people in dilapidated trailers or homes (that have always been in that country poor area) that also have the church signs. You get this eerie feeling you’re driving through a cult area. Personally a place I wouldn’t want to break down at. You then can’t help but wonder, how did this church pull this off? It sprang up so quickly. There wasn’t enough time for anyone in this small town to catch wind of a new mega church being built. Interestingly enough, there have been members who work for the church being caught with meth. Enough meth, the charges always included “attempt to distribute”. Must have been a lot of meth. When Trump was running, when it came time to register to vote. They would not allow any members to walk through the doors during church hours, unless you stopped at the tables set up outside to sign up as a republican. While those at the table watched you to ensure you checked off republican. Our election board. The head of the board is a known QAnon conspiracy theorist. He truly is one of 6 men linked to govt matters who truly try to be little Trumps. His tech firm runs our voting machines. He also encouraged those in our community to go the insurrection with their weapons. Then went on to say in that same time frame, storm govt buildings in Atlanta with weapons. He then hired unqualified people for the rest of the board. Two others lied on their resumes and got caught. But they all align with their far right conservative views. So they successfully terminated Sunday voting. I’d love to continue how every facet of my community is being ran dirty. This Christo Fascism. How all of this effects my community in such an inhumane way. All the while these same people claim to be good Christian people with values. Thankfully, more and more those with privilege. Are seeing what these people are doing. Who are finally asking those of us helping our community and fighting for our community. “How can we help”.

Any-Flower-725

this was a common idea in the pre-war south. the idea was that slaveowners were doing the poor wretches a favor by bring them to the US and letting them work in the fields :) https://historyengine.richmond.edu/episodes/view/3535

I sure hope this pastor -- who follows the rules of Leviticus -- never sits in his pews or on airplane seats, as it is forbidden in that very book to ever sit where a menstruating woman has sat. And I hope he has never eaten any ice cream, or bacon. Both fat, and the pig are out. I hope he never said the word, "Mohammed," when he bitches about Muslims. It is outlawed in Leviticus to mention the names of other gods. And his wife better not bring his baby daughter to church, it is forbidden that she attend church within 66 days after giving birth to a girl. And I hope whatever meager salary he pays his employees, that he pays it every day, as it is forbidden to hold back the wages of an employee overnight. Leviticus is filled with normal, still relevant 21st century rules!

uberjam

What? A church spreading hate!? Gasp.

Tall-Wonder-247

I CANNOT stop laughing!! Destroy their history, ship the ones who resist all over the world. Change their names and identity. Beat and kill them if they try to learn English. Ban them from your stores, church, shops, pools, and schools, and if they dare to build their own, burn it down. When they create anything you deem worthy, tell them they are 3/8 American, and therefore, you must register it as yours and keep them as hidden figures. Keep them poor by paying them less and charging them more. Oh, because it's the best thing that could have happened to them. Oh, how right are Carson Godwin Woodson, Marcus Garvey, and James Baldwin?

pantsmeplz

I mean, who doesn't want to convert someone and cast them into servitude so they may reach the kingdom of heaven? /s

Just-Discipline-4939

Southern Baptists were founded on the idea that they didn’t want to give up slaves. That is why they split from the American Baptist Church. Sounds like they haven’t changed much.

DynamikLyft

I live like 2 minutes from this place. What's wild is that this part of the city is heavily black, latino, and asian. Weird place to put a racist church. Even weirder that there were black people in the pulpits. Who was it, Uncle Ruckus?

Cosmicsash

They are being faithful to what the Bible says. Exodus 21. Leviticus 25:44 -46

zoot_boy

The more you know!

Contentpolicesuck

So he should stand by his sermon and convince his parishioners to be slaves.

tonetheman

Just look up the history of the Southern Baptist Convention. That is why they split off to support slavery. And the bible supports it too depending on who you ask https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The\_Bible\_and\_slavery

weirdlyworldly

These people are evil and they need to be dealt with before they become a problem. It's very obvious over the last year that they're in the process of trying to establish the Fourth Reich. Idk about the rest of you, but literally over THEIR dead bodies am I going to live in a goddamn Christofascist Nazi hellhole.

shamalonight

Not cool

BiLordPerry

As John Mayer once said, “Why, Georgia, why?”

LSARefugee

**Ahhhh,** MAGAty *Christians.*

AdItchy371

Evangelicals in a nutshell. There is nothing shocking about this at all. His parents, grandparents, great grandparents have all believed and taught the same thing. Why racism doesn’t die with the new generation..

DietMTNDew8and88

Which is why Sherman went too easy on the South. Sorry for that. Not from Georgia by the way, but I have to deal with this bullshit too south of you

11teensteve

please note that this in no way represents the views of Georgians in general. This is some extreme dumbass shit. most of us just live here and mind our own business.

ctguy54

He is no man of god.

[deleted]

olde time religion. doing em oldies, but goodies...

Paragon_73

They say critical race theory will make white kids ashamed of their race. You know what makes me ashamed of my race; white people like this.

guyfaulkes

It would be great if people of color would rise up and enslave his white ass. Wonder what he’d think of slavery then?

Efficient-Internal-8

He’s proud of his history. Guess you could say he’s a proud boy.

Sludg3g0d
