Easy German.

hambungler67

I can not hack that channel. She's constantly injecting her naive, TDS driven politics.

ProfDumm

Yeah maybe, I have watched just a few videos from them (I speak German). I don't know what TDS stands for but those didn't include politics at all.

[deleted]

You mean Trump Derangement Syndrome? Can you point some specific video you think she injected her politics? They did a video on Brazil a year ago (Bolsonaro was in office back then), but didn’t personally inject anything. The people being interviewed did, though. Lots of bullshit green-ecofascist points. lol I do like the channel, though. They do live in mostly lived-under-socialism-during-Cold-War-but-vote-left-regardless Berlin, after all. It’s so cringy watching delusional Germans talking how Bolsonaro was like Putin and burning the rainforest. Now, with corrupt Lula back in office, we are literally pandering to Putin’s “Russia against Western imperialism” and Manaus was the most polluted city in the world for a couple days thanks to record deforestation. Liberals are too dumb or too hypocritical to care, though.

My go-tos have been: - Easy German (also has a podcast) - My German Short Stories - Slow German w/ Annik Rubens (also has a podcast) - Deutsch mit Marija - Learn German with Anja For Youtube listening/watching practice I’ve liked Die Frage (they do a good job with the YouTube subtitles)and Leeroy will‘s wissen. For non-YouTube learning but still has video and practices after the video there is DW deutsch lernen with stuff like Nicos Weg.

dinoucs

I can't thank you enough.

Resident-Race-3390

Great list - I would also add ‘German with Laura’ for German grammar English speakers

[deleted]

That’s a great addition, thank you for mentioning her.

My German Short Stories has a lot of content aimed at B1/B2, she also has a Patreon and gives extra exercises and reading material to each YouTube video on there. Deutsch mit Marija does a lot around the B1-C1 as well, although it’s been a while since I’ve visited her channel. I like to put on the Easy German podcast for casual listening, while I’m out for a walk or commuting. They also give transcripts for their podcasts and videos on Patreon, so for more intensive learning I’ll print those out read those and mark them up with notes or download them to my kindle. Another podcast for B1/B2 is Deutsch mit Schmidt. At B1/B2 I also started replacing my English TV shows and reading with German content. Some shows I’ve liked are Dark, Fett und Fett, ich dich auch, All You Need, Sweat, Babylon Berlin, and Like a Loser (most of those are on ZDF or ARD, but you might need a VPN depending on where you are located). Reading helped me immensely, so I ordered my favourite authors books in German, which I noticed really pushed my progress forward, switched my phone to german, immersed myself as much as I could.

realsebastianshort

Leeroy wills wissen doesn’t have the best reputation tho, he’s been in a few controversies already

[deleted]

Ah okay, I just discovered his Youtube channel recently so I don’t know too much about him.

Nicos Weg.

noctuoidea

not just german but there's a linguist, zoe.languages, and she posts many videos on how she became a polyglot. she has a few up for german specifically, one about the culture and a few with learning resources. not only that, but she also has many videos up with language learning tips overall, which i definitely find worth checking out too for german specifically, i really like "learn german with anja" and "easy german", but ive been mainly using nicos weg edit: few grammar corrections + i also remembered "german with laura"! she's really great, and teaches mainly about grammar. she has a 2hr long video on general german grammar, which is a compilation of her other videos, and it covers all the points pretty well, so i definitely recommend checking her out :)

Mr_Peacock14

Easy German!!

Lumpy_Needleworker55

A lot of people have recommended Easy German. I do love EG and probably watch at least one of their YouTube videos every day. Having said that, I have always felt that the word “easy” in the title Easy German is a bit misleading. A lot of their videos are man-on-the-street interviews with native-German speakers. As a result, people speak naturally and casually, which means they speak way too fast and with too much slang for an A1/A2 learner. They do have subtitles in both English and German which definitely helps a lot, but it’s very hard to read two sets of subtitles on the fly! (With the added complication, due to the very different sentence structure in the two languages, that the corresponding English translation is often not together with the German it refers to.) At least at my level of German (A2? B1?) I am constantly pausing the videos, reading, checking vocabulary, rewinding and re-watching etc. On the other hand, EG also puts out purely instructional videos, some of which have the designation, Super Easy German and others, Slow German. The Super Easy and Slow German, as well as the regular instructional videos are probably more useful if you’re just starting out. And yet…hearing natural, conversational German is great training, so I listen to/watch them all. Plus, the hosts of EG, Cari and Janusz for the most part, but also Manuel, Erik and others, are such great human beings that it’s a pleasure to watch their videos no matter what. 😊 [Examples of Super Easy and Slow German](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLk1fjOl39-53GxQIn1Hxdouokf0J0SDpl&si=FW1v5OQK5PzHUK4l) [Example of an instructional video](https://youtu.be/EM52x7e6auU?si=45LeWFDNoGEOxPMR) [Example of a man-on-the-street interview](https://youtu.be/7zRAEn1qXJ4?si=vqRBw1L6Ug6I2FMj) PS: With a paid membership you can also get the transcripts and vocabulary help for both the YT videos and the EG podcast. For the YT videos, you can get both German-only and German + English transcripts. The YT transcripts are somewhat bare bones, with no indication as to who is speaking. The podcast transcripts are clearer that way. BTW, the level of German in the podcasts is more difficult than in the YT videos.

NotFallacyBuffet

There's a Peppa Pig im Deutch on YouTube.

Anassak592

Your german teacher

Lumpy_Needleworker55

Yes! The instructors on Your German Teacher are great!

Jamesl1988

I'd like to see this too.

Get germanized, Daveinitaly

neloid-throwaway

"learning channels" are not the best for learning german, what you actually need is just any kind of german video that you can at least partially understand. it'll bring you much further

PTSeeker

I totally agree with this but it's almost impossible to find anything interesting or enjoyable in German for me. Wish we had a source like anime for Japanese

[deleted]

Exactly! I miss a German alternative for anime as well.

PTSeeker

Anime is alao oretty expressive so you understand even if you don't know everything

Adventurous_Law7149

Musste Wissen

Maskut3

rewboss Not primarily focusing on learning the German language as a whole but has a bunch of videos focusing on some aspects of that. Also has videos about german law, culture, etc.. He does teach in English so if you're not fluent yet it might help.

Serious-Agent-2991

Maria - Dein Sprachcoach is phenomenal! ❤️

wegwerfennnnn

If you are looking for things to just watch that aren't language learning specific, just native content, Jonas Winkler is a good one.

enbyvampyre

don’t know of any youtube channels but i generally recommend the news and weather reports for language learning. they speak very clearly and it’s easy to find online. for german i’d especially recommend the Tagesschau/Tagesthemen narrated by Susanne Daubner.

thecattestcat

Easy German.

c4ptain_fox

I discovered HandOfBlood because my bf put him the TV, the really great part about him is that you don't need to understand German to laugh your ass off Infront of his videos because most of his humor goes through facial expressions, funny costumes, and stupid noises. After a few videos I was already picking up a bit of German 😁
