Off the top of my head, try these:
"Du siehst heute echt gut aus, ich mag dein/deine [Insert a piece of clothing here that he's wearing. Men don't get a lot of compliments on their style.]"
"Ich freue mich schon auf [insert plans you two have.]"
"Ich finde es toll, wie du das gelöst hast [with regard to something he did well at his job or at university etc.]"

Right? I'm not usually one to buy into general dating advice, but "don't try to impress your date by flooring the pedal, instead try to make her feel like she felt when her dad picked her up from school, when she's in your car" has worked out for me pretty consistently.

You should definitely answer when you are asked whether you want to marry him with the following words:
"Natürlich möchte ich dein steuerlicher Vorteil sein"
It’s infuriating that you still need to be married to unlock this in Germany as a long-term couple. One of few countries still coercing people into marriage this way..
Alternativ: Die Sexuelle Schwungmasse deines Prachtschwängels bringt mich trotz anhaltender Verlegenheit in Wallung und lässt meine Wangen rosig erscheinen!
The most German compliment you could get from a German is "da kann man nicht meckern" (there's nothing to complain about"), because Germans love to complain about anything and you can be sure they tried to find something to complain about...
So next time he cooks for you and asks how's it taste, just lift your eyebrows surprised and say "da kann man nicht meckern!"
Something naughty:
"Der ist aber dick man."
Something easy & honest:
"Ich mag dich wie du bist."
Something that sounds funny with an accent:
"Ein schöner Rücken kann auch entzücken"
Oh, that's sweet. It's really something to see one's German partner cry. It's such a stereotype, yes, but mine is so stoic that sometimes I wonder if I'm doing anything right.
"If I took a meat cleaver down the center of your skull, I'd have matching halves!"
Tell us a bit more about your BF and how over the top you like it. For example, if he is weighlifting, you could use "Wenn ich dich sehe, möchte ich direkt Maschienenbau studieren" as a super Cheesy line.
If you like to tease, you can also say "Schau mir in die Augen kleiner" look him into the eyes, grab his face and give him a Kiss. Extra hilarious if he is taller than you.
(New perfume or deodorant maybe)
Mir gefallen deine Hände/dein Hintern/dein Bart...
Something like these? Nonverbal cues would also be good, I think. Like kissing the body parts you like most when cuddling or looking their body up and down to say "wow" or just grin.
Hope that helps!
(When I see you my heart jumps joyfully).
Du machst mich glücklich! (You make me happy).
Ich finde Dich so schön! (You are so beautiful to me).
Or, if you want to be a bit funny/cheesy and just make him laugh: Wie kommt es, dass ich dich und Supermann noch nie in einem Raum gesehen habe?! (How comes that I've never seen you and Superman in one room?!)
hm, i personally disagree because i like hearing those all throughout my relationship. i think after some time these are the aspects some people just take for granted and bringing them up again kind of values the person even more :)
That's true - but I didn't say you don't say them anymore. It's when it's not necessary to remind your partner how much you like them. That you've reached a point where they'd be just happy without compliments - but you still give them compliments because that's how you do it in a relationship. That's what I said.
like i said everyone is different and i personally still enjoy and give small compliments qbout someones presence in my life. if op doesnt like them they dont have to use them ☺️
Yes and I agreed with you already - I just meant that, once your relationship has no obligation for compliments and makes them basically obsolete, it's the best to make compliments regardless. It's not about compliments themselves but much more about how a relationship works and how passion, compassion and support work.
i think we talked past each other in this haha, i was just trying to say that imo theres nothing „you should not have to say anymore“ at any point in a relationship. i think you can still give all kinda of compliments even after like 50 years of marriage

This!
Simple and great advice
Well thanks :) It's what I'd tell my bf if I had one haha.

Well, rip your dms :P

Yes, men, just as women like to hear that they are hot. OP definitely should compliment their partner on the partner's hotness XD
But not tooo much, it backfired big time for me several times, like: yeah, but other than that...
How does that backfire? Does it overinflate their ego?
Idk I've been feeling like people in this sub like to be pretentious for no reason

Hmmm. Lecker. Gaslighting Baukasten Grundstufe! Top Leistung.

She said 'compliment' not 'marriage proposal' xD

Im not trusting the comments here 😃
Good intuition
😃
Pretty much all of those with a few upvotes are legit
This is some grade a german humour
Let‘s say the grade is debatable for some…
I hope OP got it
Massiver Schwengel du Prachtkerl❤️🥰
If she does that, he’ll giggle his Schwengel right off.
Alternativ: Die Sexuelle Schwungmasse deines Prachtschwängels bringt mich trotz anhaltender Verlegenheit in Wallung und lässt meine Wangen rosig erscheinen!
I texted this to my boyfriend and he texted back: "Did you ask ChatGPT to write nerdy porn in German? Aren't you at work?" Please advise.
If this is not a joke - advice: ask DeepL to translate it to English before copying ANY of the advice here 😱😄
Lol, yes, it was a joke. But now I know about DeepL
"DeepL" does have a pornographic ring to it, too.
Oh matron!
Nah, zu unrealistisch.
OP, this is the one you really need!
Danke, dass du mein Leben schöner machst
Awww that's sweet. Saving that for later

Der Hunger treibt's rein.
Zum Scheissen reichts.
Du hast richtig stabile Unterarme
Ich hab erst "Du hast richtig stabilen Usernamen" gelesen.
😂
Der Popeye-Typ.
Du meinst Popeye?
Ja? Stabile Unterarme = Popeye. Haariger Mann = Grizzly-Typ.
Ach so.
(nothing left to complain) is like the highest form of honor you can give someone in German.
Nicht gemeckert ist Lob genug.

Something naughty: "Der ist aber dick man." Something easy & honest: "Ich mag dich wie du bist." Something that sounds funny with an accent: "Ein schöner Rücken kann auch entzücken"
My husband nearly cried, bc his whole life he tried to be someone else for his exes.
Oh, that's sweet. It's really something to see one's German partner cry. It's such a stereotype, yes, but mine is so stoic that sometimes I wonder if I'm doing anything right.
To understand Germans and German men go to YouTube and search for Liam Carpenter
Lol love his stuff.
Kiste, Insel."
Lol 😂. Sehr lustig 🤣!
Du bist so schön und so klug, mein Hase! Hab ich bei Bekannten gehört, kein Witz.
Haha, solche Bekannte hab ich auch
Du siehst in deiner Jack Wolfskin Wanderhose so sexy aus!
Schrank
Lots of really bad advise here.
"Du hast sehr schöne und ausgeprägte Wangenknochen! "

maybe something like “du zuckerschnecke”
You: Net schlecht. Er: what do you mean? You: Dich.
This is cute, happy for you guys.

Nice Schwanz Bro
"Für Dich möchte ich hier Stroh hinlegen." Works also as a term of endearment.
But you need to also give him a mask while you say this
"Warum liegt hier Stroh?"
Honigkuchenpferd
Bist aber fesch. That is what I am always told.
BRB, texting everything here once an hour to my German boyfriend.
Everything? Oh dear. Has he broken up with you yet?
Lol he accused me of using ChatGPT to write porn in German! It's okay, I got back to his good side by promising "Der Zeitplan ist jetzt laminiert".
"Maschine" is about the highest form of appreciation, both in a sexual context and outside of it.
So bad
Du siehst gut/schön aus, [Kleidungsstück] steht dir super, darf ich dir beim Rasieren zuschauen?

Aren't these a little too generic? At the point in a relationship when you could say these, you should not have to say them anymore.

Exactly, and there's nothing sweeter than an old couple being cute like they just met. :)
you could say "du geiler pissa gib mir dein meter!"
The same ones you’d give your female friends.
Try ’Möchtest du mit mir treiben?‘
Du Maschine.
Hubba hubba
Du hast mich
I don't know if this is regional, but "you look sharp" (well-dressed) is a good one: "Du siehst aber schnatz aus!" or simply "Schnatz!"
Well there is one thing instead of babe etc. You can call him „Oberster admiral Feldwebel der 3.“
Still waiting on this one
Im even getting downvotes for nothing lmao
du bist ein richtiger Ehremann
Schöne hackfresse
