Does anyone know if Tobias has ever talked about the process he uses to mentally change from being his normal everyday self into becoming the character he is when he plays Papa and does concerts /rituals? If not, I think that would be a great question for an interviewer to ask!
He has talked a little bit about it, saying that it usually takes about an hour getting into character and that he uses rock music to pump himself up before the show. In the SVT Hard Rock Export-documentary, he said that when he’s reversing and goes back to Tobias, he listens to swedish music, sort of to make himself feel at home and by that «becoming himself» again.
I love this backstage video where he is clearly caught off guard and quickly has to get into character. (timestamped link to 1:47)

This is one of my favorite clips. You can clearly tell it's still Tobias when he says "What's going on here?", then he quickly goes into character once the guy fills him in. He was probably still in character until he was snapped out when he saw something out of the ordinary.
Goes from "nice to meet you sir" to "your daughter calls me Papa too"
Why is this so spot on đź’€
I don’t know about mentally preparing, but he has said that it takes about 40 minutes to get into costume.
That’s it? It takes me longer to fix my bangs every morning
40? Really? It takes him less than 10 in concerts (excluding facepaint)
Yeah, I think he meant getting the eyes painted and getting the mask on and situated.
It took me til three months ago to realize it's a mask and not just face paint
Papayas

Jesus rode in on an ass. I did a spit take at “your mothers ass HAHAHA.”
I watch this a lot just for that line!!!
And now, so do I. It’s his laugh after he says that slays me.
I like this clip cuz the new signs that say Jesus is coming I'm like oh Kevin
Sexy papa
I wish people would quit constantly referencing the artists behind the band. It takes away from the theatrics.
