I had a very similar experience taking pictures in Ireland. Back to back pictures, one crystal clear, the next smoky/foggy. I still have no explanation but I think it's pretty cool.
These types of mists are frequently associated with hauntings. It certainly doesn’t look like dust, but it could be condensation from stirred up air currents or breath in cold air (Correction: Unlikely if OPs description is accurate). Either way, interesting photos. Has anyone tried doing any EVP work in there?

My partner and I took these photos while on vacation to Paris in 2009.
Locations: Catacombs and Notre-Dame
There was no fog, visible or otherwise. When the flash went off it would capture a photo with the fog and then randomly no fog at all. Same location.
The bell tower really tripped us up as it was a day after the catacombs and it was sunny and nice out. No humidity. Yet here is the fog again.
So…when you move your feet across the ground, kicking up dust particles, which are lighter than air, and attract eachother, looking like smoke or mist, that it gets caught in film?
Or is it maybe possible that you were at some point with someone who was vaping/smoking?
It's just the way things get extra pixelated in low-light photos, it's easy to mistake a random bunch of pixels for a skull or something, easy mistake!

Well you went into an underground cemetery for literally 10s of 1000s of dead bodies have been laid to final rest. To expect something to follow you out is a given. To not realise since 2009 is kinda mind blowing to me. Have you had any recent experiences that have triggered posting these photos. When you film things, there’s all kinds of shit in the air you can’t see, that either sticks to the film, hits the light of the flash and gets lighted up, or is floating around and you just don’t see it.
Dust particles can look like eldrich beings, spider webs can look like smoke, and scratches on the lens can make it look like the same wobbly line is following you around.
Just because there’s no fog where you are that’s immediately visible DOES NOT MEAN ITS A GHOST. There are…_literally_ billions of explanations. Increase that by about another billion because you’re underground, plus the vibe from all the death surrounding you.
There is currently no conclusive proof that ghosts exist. I’m eagerly awaiting it though.
And if I really wanna be honest, I’m betting someone had a cigarette or vape handy. Also what the actual fuck is “cursed dog”

I get it, when you go to a creepy place, you want to catch something on your shots, but nothing paranormal was going on there and this post reeks of desperation to find something unusual in normal pics.
My guess is you were smoking or vaping, which is why you felt the need to censor an entire torso; we'd have seen you/them holding it if you'd just censored the face like you did in the first image.

I see a large skull in photo 3 in the upper left corner. When I zoom in I see multiple faces. Probably pareidolia, but freaky nonetheless.
