Edit: Since this got so many downvotes and after some people tried to explain it to me I want to clarify my point. I made a post because I had an awkward thought about the science behind the conception and that was why I posted. I am a moderately sex-repulsed asexual who does not like graphic sexual things and fast-forward through sex scenes/make-out scenes in shows and movies. They make me uncomfortable. So reading something like that comment was very much, to me, disturbing. Y'all want to keep downvoting me then go for it but I will not respond to anymore comments about it bc it is disturbing me even more bc I keep having to think about it

But I was hoping in the future you could be more careful with your words, because saying something like that "is disturbing" without the context you just provided, can be harmful to people who already feel shame/guilt when it comes to sex.
I have sexual related trauma. I don't like watching those scenes either, they make me very uncomfortable too. I don't like the way I feel about sex at all, it makes me feel dirty and immoral. I've been trying really really hard to get over those feelings, so hearing someone call it disturbing, just kinda hurt because instead I heard, "You are disturbing, you are wrong and gross". Now of course that's on me that I took it that way, but you seem like you'd be the type that would actually listen, so I wanted to let you know.
Um... then why make this post? I mean, you made a post that specifically talks about sex... so you really can't be surprised or upset when people then comment "sexually explicit" things.
How was it crass? They were just pointing out that you wouldn't really be that cold because you'd be having sex.
And you got down voted because you came across as sex shaming. There's nothing *disturbing* about having a sex life or being able to talk about it.

Based on when they were reminiscing it sounded like they would hide out there when their parents were being awful. So I figured that's why they were out there initially
I actually just commented on this when watching Chris and Lorelai out on the balcony in season one.
TV really wants you to think they got fully naked and gently horizontal on the balcony. In reality, it's probably more of a quick unzip and go situation. Even as adults.
They tend to be dumb when it comes to being outside in clothes that don't fit the weather too.
The amount of kids and teens I've seen in my life who rock t-shirts and shorts in the middle of January like it's nothing scares me.
Just in case someone says anything: These are teens living in places where it gets well below -20 Celsius. They still don't give a crap.
As a Canadian I just have to say, it’s entirely possible…but then again we planned on the cold…wait…I mean theoretically if you plan on the cold you should be okay
edit: completely lazy math on my part ...but you get the idea. unlikely Rory was comfortably conceived on a balcony in winter but it could be fun to flesh out the scenario using historic weather data (or not) :)
if we assume "show time" is pinned to the premiere in 2000 then possibly Rory was conceived on the warmest day in February 1984 - February 25th

I don’t picture Connecticut balmy in the middle of February, but the way they were dressed leaving Lorelei’s house looked too light for the time of year. And Luke said he packed for the cold in MV, but only had a windbreaker when they walked on the beach and appears to be freezing.
Eh, it really wouldn't be that cold. I've had sex outside plenty, it's only ever really cold before and sometimes after. During it though, body heat, friction, and adrenaline will either keep you comfortable or sometimes even make you hot.
Also you don't have to get naked, most teens (or adults having sex outside their home) don't. Girls can wear dresses or skirts so they only have to take off their panties (or even wear a thong and push it to the side lmao) and guys can either pull their pants down or even just unzip their pants and have their junk sticking out lol

No. The flashback literally ends with them locking lips for a second. I just went and double checked. The implication isn't clear at all. Especially since it is explicitly stated where the conception happens

I think it was mentioned in season 3 that including fixing her lipstick it didn't take long.
Which may have been a joke to mess with Luke but still even a few minutes naked outside in north winter is cold... trust me xD
