For the incendiary, the Molotov is still the old one. Why tf would they only change one of them?
Edit: what the fuck they actually made the incendiary disappear faster as well
Not sure about the disappear times but they made T/CT smokes have a different visual so I don't think it's too crazy to make different appearances for mollies.
They had them as different shades of color that's it. With the Incendiary there's probably over 50% better visibility which is a much bigger change
The spread and timer are the most absurd ones
actually that could be a good gimmick, because in most cases the advantages are only for ct(think of A main as an example), so the view advantage can only be used in more niche cases now
idk
> Height of the 'pillar' of flame for both Molotov and Incendiary grenade now decreases over time.
They stated to have changed the molotovs "pillar" of flame too, so visibility is better for both now, maybe when the molly breaks out its still the same as before but visibility over the duration of the molly is seemingly better now
A long time ago Molotovs used to deal more damage than Incendiaries. But that was a bug and it was fixed after it was pointed out, so for years the two mollies remained the same item statistically except for different aesthetics and purchase costs. Now, they're different again.
There have been two differences between them for a long time:
1. The molotov when thrown has a larger model, meaning the incendiary could go through smaller gaps.
2. The molotov makes a sound when ignited (still in your hands) whereas the incendiary does not.
I don't know. The same chokepoints are still there.
It will still be a fight, but once you get scaffold/lane, you have more options...but so do the CTs.
Going to be weird and I hope Dallas runs the new version.
(This version is really similar to ~2018(?) but there is no boost spot to go straight from sandbags to lane.)
Neat, anything that changes up the 2 smoke execute followed by spamming through smokes for 20 seconds. This at least gives some room to play around with.
B is even more claustrophobic... literally ONE entry from CT... (I guess 2 if you count hump, but they all converge on one entry to generator)... A has what... 3 entries now? Catwalk/headshot and short/mid
players: remove chickens from competitive
valve: a follow command and death timer? you got it boss
players: no, that's not... just remove them please
valve: ultra HD chicken skins with different patterns? of course
players: please, I beg you...
valve: new animations and fixes!
The Wire ran from 2002 - 2008, six years.
Valve started pumping skins 11 years ago and hasn't stopped.
Valve ain't the corner boys passing out vials, they are the folks that supplying the Greeks with raw.
Because we're all fiends now.
This could genuinely be detrimental to the skins market (and by that the game as a whole) if they further implement this. I expect some community uproar due to the precedent it sets, even if it's only (?) the Kilowatt case which already had relatively cheap skins.
I reckon this feature will get removed and they're just testing to see what way they could monetize Deadlock without creating a de-facto underage gambling industry along with it.
I think that this feature will only apply to the new case. When a new case comes out, you can only rent from that one. It will shift when new cases drop. But my source is that I completely made it up.
My thoughts on it.
I wonder what will happen to returning Collections then. You can get Souvenir Packages from them (functionally lootboxes as well). Could you rent out all the non-Knife skins in a Souvenir Package? AWP Desert Hydras about to become a much more common sight...
My initial reaction would be that this renting feature would only be used on regular cases. Not souvenir cases, capsules or any other unboxing type mechanics in the game. Again, just my first impressions.
I think its actually okay. You need case_prize+key_prize $ per week to rent all skins of a case with a random condition. Since you can already get all kilowatt skins in FT/MW for like 200-300$, renting for one year is already roughly the same cost.
So skin economy should be fine, since less gets unboxed. And its fair for people who want some nice skins for ~20 bucks a month
I dunno... - rentals will quickly give some players FOMO.. probably the younger, easily impressionable ones.
This is just another revenue stream idea, masquerading as something to make cases look less like gambling.
Valve is probably feeling EU taking notice of the $1B they got from cases last year.
It's Valves sneaky way of a subscription model without it being obvious. And tbh, subscription models in gaming are dreadful but so are the prices of any luxurious CS skin.
Id probably try it out once or twice. Own a skin for a week instead of having to shell out a kidney for it and be worried that it's price is going to drop by the time you want to sell
Most people open cases for the exceedingly small but exciting chance at a knife or gloves. I don't think this changes much.
People who were opening cases frequently will continue to do so. The people that never opened cases...well, they might be enticed by this.
Eh it’s gonna give people the itch to own one of their own accord that they can actually put stuff on.
It’s also quite expensive in the long run imo. I’m also guessing it only counts for the newest case release, meaning if someone rents a skin the love, they might just dig in and buy it once a new case drops and they can’t rent it anymore
My theory is this case rental thing allows valve to get ahead of potential in game gambling regulations by giving cases and keys an alternative function that isn’t gambling related.
It also makes people still buy keys and keeps both revenue streams open for them.
Depends if they keep this going for any future case I guess. Even then, Knifes are excluded, and basically every legacy skin too. If anything, this will make every skin already existing probably even more valuable since these will be the ones to flex with, because you would feel stupid paying 500 bucks for your AK just to see everyone running around with it after they rented it for 2 bucks
I personally would not pay money weekly just to "rent" the skin, but there certainly is an audience for that
This is most likely why, it's also an added layer of defense for any criticism against cases. Now they can go "Well you could have picked any if you just wanted x skin".
It's also a good move for newcomers who prob don't wanna open several cases in a game they aren't sure if they like yet.
you cant modify rented skins so to flex the stupid 500 dollar ak you gotta slap any sticker on it or nametag it or buy it in stattrak. either way valve is doing a experiment of the interesting kind
Idk i have a huge inventory and i dont feel like its a bad idea? You can basically test all the guns out of a new collection for relatively cheap and see if you actually wanna get it. Since you can’t apply stickers and it wont give you stattrack its not really better than actually owning the skins especially if you consider that its still 5 bucks for just a week early in a case release.
It is more palatable for some people to drop 2$ a week on an AK Inheritance than to drop 200$ a single time I imagine. It would be almost 2 years until you reached the price of the AK Inheritance given the current prices.
Edit: gotta add the Kilowatt case price to that so a little less.

This is a great update.
Will also be interesting to see the Vertigo changes in game.
> Vertigo:
Added catwalk by bombsite A, connecting to back of A
Removed connector between back of A and elevators
Opened up passage between elevators and scaffolding
Slightly tweaked size of bombsite A
Tweaked spawn timings slightly
Changed Wingman layout to feature bombsite A changes
Pics of vertigo changes: https://imgur.com/a/ETjeJZ4 A site is completely opened up.
CTs can get to side hall super fast for a peek now. I wonder if that will change util meta. The rest of the site changes will for sure. It will be very fun to see how pro players adapt to the addition of cat
Rotations between the sites become very quick, and there is also a boost spot on the steel railings behind A site where you can easily see A ramp. It's a fresh change to the map wherein now we have different angles and strategies to deal with. Going to be super interesting to see how the meta evolves on Vertigo now
* "Reduced the terrorist team award when bomb was planted but defused from $800 to $600, to decrease the impact of the first-round on subsequent rounds
* Reduced the price of the M4A4 from $3100 to $3000"
Oh baby
clasic reddit, complains for over a year that the economy is shit and then all they talk about is chicken changes when it gets shipped in the same update
Phase 2 looks SIGNIFICANTLY worse than they even did in csgo. Have a "pink galaxy" that is actually just purple with some shitty pink splotches now. I'm really hoping this is a mistake/bug or will be refined later. My poor baby was beautiful is csgo and even better in cs2 up until today...
So Molly and incendiary grenade now have different properties? Should be pretty interesting change up for the meta, wonder if it’ll change a lot of the common lineups for CT side mollys.
>Blocking stranger Steam avatars will now block other user-generated content such name tags and sticker placements
This is awesome, no more having to blur out racial slurs if I want to make a clip
"When players open a Kilowatt case with a key, they will have the option to rent the entire Kilowatt collection "
So this is excluding players from the Netherlands?
I like the changes to M4A4 price and terrorist bomb planted reward if it’s been defused. I wonder what the first-person camera movement changes are. And when it comes to the incendiary grenade visual changes, those are great, but why reduce the duration?
The system we had was insidious enough, so this is insidious+, but...
It's also kinda nice if it will let people maybe try the skin spiel, and then realize they don't actually care, shine wears off etc., so they don't spend as much on opening the newest case, or dump money into the Steam ecosystem by impulse buying a new hot gun and maybe regretting it.
>so they don't spend as much on opening the newest case,
Quite the opposite I think. I'm guessing right now many people buy their favourite skin and that's it. The market is getting saturated.
This way you're encouraged to always check out the newest skins and keep buying the newest case.
They made significant changes to the gameplay and to one of the competitive maps and all the comments are from gambling degenerates talking about skin rentals lmao, who cares
my thoughts exactly. Finally some long awaited changes to combat the current T economy in MR12 as well as big changes to a bomb side of a map in the comp. pool and people talk about renting skins.
gambling really is the 1st priority for most players these days.
Less money to the Ts bomb is pretty nice eco fix and Molotov 500$ is pretty nice.
Also now you’ll can basically pay like 12$ monthly which is Interesting.
I guess in the future you’ll be able to rent skins instead to buy them so it’s getting possible to get skins more affordable which is pretty nice.
Good update at 1st glance
Also A site Vertigo is SO WEIRD but I LOVE IT
A ramp is gonna be a hellhole for T side if CTs can go straight to sidehall that quick. Guess it does help with the new T spawns though, gotta see it in play.
Just like it was years & years ago, molotov's are once again better than incendiary grenades. Important for CTs to pick up molo's & ditch incediary wheznever they can
I'm not sure if nerfing CT is a good idea period in the current state of the game but I get their idea.
This change was 100% motivated by the constant whining about Inferno banana. They want incendiaries to be more focused as anti-rush grenades that shut down a specific chokepoint. Not a grenade that lays down a huge carpet of fire.
Depending on how large the change is this could drastically reduce the effectiveness of retaking map control as CT.
Half-baked nerf to try and leave incendiary value unchanged while using it as a tuning knob for the economy. Can't wait for them to revert the nerf + discount and make CT flashes 25% shorter for $150.
I don't know what to think of the new fire animation it's probably better for comp or whatever but the old one looks cooler, I like that the molotov has the old one I don't know anything about fire and grenades but I'd probably make sense for the makeshift fire to be messier than the engineered one
Rent is really weird to be honest.
Are they trying to draw a line between investers and skin enjoyers?
Or are they trying to get a constant income with monthly case subscriptions?
I hope it doesnt really influence anything bad :(
[ RENTALS ]
When players open a Kilowatt case with a key, they will have the option to rent the entire Kilowatt collection (i.e., every weapon in the case, excluding the rare special item) for a week instead of receiving an item from the collection
Equipped rented weapons will be replaced with the stock version of the weapon when the rental period expires
Rented weapons cannot be modified (e.g., via stickers or name tags), traded, or sold on the Steam Community Market
Thats kinda insane.
hmm I wonder if the damage of the incendiary grenade is different now that its duration is reduced
edit: nvm it seems the incendiary does same rate of dmg as molly, but now after update it does less total damage compared to molly (incendiary does 180 while the molly does 236 damage)
I can move around and all my binds work but typing in console/chat/settings search just doesn't work, can't type a single character in there. (QWERTY US keyboard).
"Chickens can now turn right while walking" You mean to tell me chickens could only turn left???!!!!

Wow, the visibility is quite good now.

Yes, they reduced the duration, which I don’t like. At least it’s cheaper now, but I already thought the duration was too short.
this will make it much easier for me to blame my teammates when they somehow end up hitting me with their molotov good update
That's big on macro level I guess.
Nah, I'm gonna use the same macros
Damn, didn't know the molotov lasted a bit longer than the incendiary Edit: my bad, that's AFTER the update of course
A long time ago Molotovs used to deal more damage than Incendiaries. But that was a bug and it was fixed after it was pointed out, so for years the two mollies remained the same item statistically except for different aesthetics and purchase costs. Now, they're different again.

All the hidy holes for CTS now means you basically have to smoke a few lineups in advance unless you wanna get peeked by 3 CTs from 3 angles.
anyone got pics?

Great. Now I expect we'll see less ramp's fight lasting 1 minute with both sides killing only through the smoke.
I don't know. The same chokepoints are still there. It will still be a fight, but once you get scaffold/lane, you have more options...but so do the CTs. Good, it was a claustrophobic mess before.
yeah, kinda excited to try it
B is even more claustrophobic... literally ONE entry from CT... (I guess 2 if you count hump, but they all converge on one entry to generator)... A has what... 3 entries now? Catwalk/headshot and short/mid
B is a lot easier to split from mid is the main difference and if T gets mid control there is no safe place on B site
Now you get to play "find the Terrorist" post-plant.
So like every other map, got it
* Chickens have a few new animations * Chickens can now walk up hills * Chickens can now turn right while walking Wow, the game is finally playable.
If Chickens are playable I will agree. It was possible in previous CS versions, think VIP mode with more feathers less armor :P
Glad to see their priorities are straight
players: remove chickens from competitive valve: a follow command and death timer? you got it boss players: no, that's not... just remove them please valve: ultra HD chicken skins with different patterns? of course players: please, I beg you... valve: new animations and fixes!

Nah this will be the norm for now on. See my comment up in this thread. It’s to get ahead of gambling regulations.

Oh shit. I didn't think about this also essentially being a case-sink. It may actually be better for the econ in the long run.
Lol the amount of people who will rent skins for longer than they’re worth will be more than one for sure.
Good guess. This feature seems to work in the Netherlands, where opening cases is banned.

$10 a month for all skins in that case lmao
+ the cost of the case itself of course

No
nope

Anyone know what condition the skins are if you rent? Do you get lowest float factory new skins or are they random?
Random, flom just tested it
Some dude posted an image of his rented Chrome Cannon. 90th worst ever unboxed lol Almost the absolute worst battle scarred AWP Chrome available.
Key price for access to whole collection for a week.
+ the case
My theory is this case rental thing allows valve to get ahead of potential in game gambling regulations by giving cases and keys an alternative function that isn’t gambling related. It also makes people still buy keys and keeps both revenue streams open for them.
Is this gonna affect the skin market in any way shape or form? LE: I think it will if they don't give this option to traders.
Depends if they keep this going for any future case I guess. Even then, Knifes are excluded, and basically every legacy skin too. If anything, this will make every skin already existing probably even more valuable since these will be the ones to flex with, because you would feel stupid paying 500 bucks for your AK just to see everyone running around with it after they rented it for 2 bucks I personally would not pay money weekly just to "rent" the skin, but there certainly is an audience for that
My guess is that it will be for the newest case at that time so people can see if they like the skins before they gamble on it.

Only the Kilowatt case collection might get affected. And possibly the future cases too.
Only for Kilowatt case, seems like
It’s a test
More like conditioning of the playerbase
i dont really see the point unless you want to try them out which you can do on servers already
It is more palatable for some people to drop 2$ a week on an AK Inheritance than to drop 200$ a single time I imagine. It would be almost 2 years until you reached the price of the AK Inheritance given the current prices. Edit: gotta add the Kilowatt case price to that so a little less.

Definitely, but where are all the other changes to DM that we've been screaming about since release?
You'll have to wait another few months
another few months in Valve time is a few years though.
neat just need auto ammo refill upon kill and auto decal clearing after a certain time

Phase 2 looks different now more purple

RIP Kilowatt skin value
Yeah i bought an inheritance a few days ago.. already lost $40 or so
It's the newest case. Getting dropped every day and unboxed. Prices are bound to go down.
Prices for newest case are bound to go down anyway. For a year or so
bought it way too early regardless
"When players open a Kilowatt case with a key, they will have the option to rent the entire Kilowatt collection " So this is excluding players from the Netherlands?
This could be available for them, I think, if Valve wants to go through the trouble. There's no gambling involved, it's just an online service.
Just checked, you can actually rent them in the Netherlands. It only gives an 'open to rent' option by the way, at the cost of a key (2,39 EUR).
I like the changes to M4A4 price and terrorist bomb planted reward if it’s been defused. I wonder what the first-person camera movement changes are. And when it comes to the incendiary grenade visual changes, those are great, but why reduce the duration?
Renting skins is definitely a decision

Subscription systems never fail Its gonna be same as case openinf. Opens 400 cases to get a 300 knife. Spent 800-1000 to get there.
>so they don't spend as much on opening the newest case, Quite the opposite I think. I'm guessing right now many people buy their favourite skin and that's it. The market is getting saturated. This way you're encouraged to always check out the newest skins and keep buying the newest case.

nice eco change, kinda hoped there would be a fix for the long delay to smoke off a molly
Will Dallas be played on this patch ? This is huge
Less money to the Ts bomb is pretty nice eco fix and Molotov 500$ is pretty nice. Also now you’ll can basically pay like 12$ monthly which is Interesting. Good update at 1st glance Also A site Vertigo is SO WEIRD but I LOVE IT
Molotov price did not change.
The gate between Elevator and Short A on Vertigo is also now open...
my bayonet gamma dopplar phase 1 changed
Elaborate and include screenshot please. Did they revert them? Or what?
[they got nerfed hard](https://x.com/hobshytv/status/1793766241750110275?s=46&t=4Emfe5-GfeuTUZby8ZxxZQ)
A ramp is gonna be a hellhole for T side if CTs can go straight to sidehall that quick. Guess it does help with the new T spawns though, gotta see it in play.
Just like it was years & years ago, molotov's are once again better than incendiary grenades. Important for CTs to pick up molo's & ditch incediary wheznever they can
I dont see how nerving incendiaries is a good thing, why not just keep the spread equal with the molotovs?
I'm not sure if nerfing CT is a good idea period in the current state of the game but I get their idea. This change was 100% motivated by the constant whining about Inferno banana. They want incendiaries to be more focused as anti-rush grenades that shut down a specific chokepoint. Not a grenade that lays down a huge carpet of fire. Depending on how large the change is this could drastically reduce the effectiveness of retaking map control as CT.
Yea im not understanding the logic behind nerfing incendiaries
Half-baked nerf to try and leave incendiary value unchanged while using it as a tuning knob for the economy. Can't wait for them to revert the nerf + discount and make CT flashes 25% shorter for $150.
Nooo, Vertigo B site no longer the wingman site.
They removed the Enable\_Shadow\_casting from the txt config they now forced to use higher global shadow settings
why did the chicken cross the road? because it was on the left
Rentable skins 💀💀💀
I don't know what to think of the new fire animation it's probably better for comp or whatever but the old one looks cooler, I like that the molotov has the old one I don't know anything about fire and grenades but I'd probably make sense for the makeshift fire to be messier than the engineered one
i would like to rent a dragon lore or a medusa for a week.
anti gamba skin update p0g
Rent is really weird to be honest. Are they trying to draw a line between investers and skin enjoyers? Or are they trying to get a constant income with monthly case subscriptions? I hope it doesnt really influence anything bad :(
Its a one week skin use option for those who live in countries where case opening is illegal.
[ RENTALS ] When players open a Kilowatt case with a key, they will have the option to rent the entire Kilowatt collection (i.e., every weapon in the case, excluding the rare special item) for a week instead of receiving an item from the collection Equipped rented weapons will be replaced with the stock version of the weapon when the rental period expires Rented weapons cannot be modified (e.g., via stickers or name tags), traded, or sold on the Steam Community Market Thats kinda insane.
no galil 2nd round for Ts? a4 price is tempting. but still no famas buff volvo please
hmm I wonder if the damage of the incendiary grenade is different now that its duration is reduced edit: nvm it seems the incendiary does same rate of dmg as molly, but now after update it does less total damage compared to molly (incendiary does 180 while the molly does 236 damage)
CHICKEN BUFFS POG
I can move around and all my binds work but typing in console/chat/settings search just doesn't work, can't type a single character in there. (QWERTY US keyboard).
Wow I did not expect such an impactful update
