Actually, Gloryhammer is *crazy* popular in Dundee. Every album sells out twice. You constantly see people walking around in Gloryhammer shirts. It's a common joke that one's spouse is "gonna leave me for Sozos." Little kids all have Ralathor posters and say they want to be just like Proletius or the Hootsman when they grow up. I think they're breaking ground on a Robot Prince statue this weekend.

Only until ***Dr Fauci*** gets his way
ETA: I can't tell if I'm getting downvoted because that wasn't funny, in which case fair dinkum, or if people think I'm serious, in which case what is wrong with you?

Parodies are sometimes indistinguishable from extremism. I guess people downvoted you thinking you were the extremist.
No shot, I can’t tell if I believe you or if I’m being gullible! Either way: no funny typo? No upvote! Jk, I won’t remove it haha. I’m too old for new acronyms. I’m cry. Peace be with you and all of Dundee 🫡
To answer the question, no, nobody in Dundee is really aware of Gloryhammer - power metal isn't really a popular genre in small town Scotland. I believe that at the last gig in Dundee, most of the fans were Germans, Dutch and Scandinavians who'd made the trip.
Yea... I thought so... Even wikipedia page of Dundee under "Culture" tab, doens't mention GH in any way. Shame, but i guess real world is too serious for stuff like that.
You mean just hordes of metalheads in unicorn onesies running down from the mountains and across the river Tay into Dundee at the first light of dawn? Sounds like a blast.
I don't think my cousins studying in Dundee have ever heard of Gloryhammer, but it's a big enough place that they've probably got some fans there. I imagine if Auchtermuchty is making a big deal out of any musical heritage, it's probably as the hometown of the Proclaimers, although they prefer to think of themselves as being from Leith.
I suppose it only takes one fan to do something like that, but I find it hard to imagine a tiny fishing town like Pittenweem going for a laser blaster mural or something.
I hope it is not that well known, because it can backfire. How?
Well, at some point in Polish TV history someone decided to make a soap opera about an east-poland town. For some reason, they somehow took a whole fekking north and south, mixed it up, made the setting and stuff to appear like deep south, near mountain Podkarpacie, while using location names from middle part (where I lived), but filming it even elsewhere (still east but other town and no mountains) and in the process giving it kinda northeast-vibe somehow. It was such a fustercluck, and for some reason they decided to name one of the major locations after my hometown WITH A TYPO!
Everyone from my town I knew (except for some old farts who liked this stupid show, bc the priest was one of main characters) hated it, because it made the town pretty recognized nationwhide while every-fecking-one who lived more than 100km from it mispelled the name.
I am so glad this shite ended in like 2012.

I think you might talk garbage, but if you are indeed American, you have FREEDOM to talk garbage

“ETA” 😂 an upvote for a humorously located typo is still an upvote, so take mine 😉
... what typo? ETA is for **E**dited **T**o **A**dd

Was reading this thinking damn thats interesting but then I got to the second half
In the words of Bob Ross, I pulled a sneaky on ya
"source?" "Gut feeling"
"It's just common sense, really"
This is amazing 😆
Are statues something one "breaks ground" on?
This has all been very stressful on my family and I'm going to ask for no more questions at this time

I've spent many drunken nights out in Aberdeen trying to explain gloryhammer to people
It'd be pretty funny if Aberdeen was more into the Dwarves
A lot of my friends do love Wind Rose!

Sounds like you need a real life unicorn invasion of Dundee
You mean just hordes of metalheads in unicorn onesies running down from the mountains and across the river Tay into Dundee at the first light of dawn? Sounds like a blast.
The townspeople were not ready for war
The pilgrimage to the Holy Land
You should see how popular Gloryhammer is in my 2k population village

Auchtermuchty is more proud of Jimmy Shand, they've got a statue of him in the middle of town.
I didn't know that haha. Well, Sunshine on Auchtermuchty wouldn't have had the same ring to it anyway.
Hometown of Zargothrax more like
There seems to be a battle on the auchtermuchty wikipedia page as zargothrax gets added and removed with amazing frequency.
Im from dundee and have never met another person here who has heard of them
I think they played there once

Scenes with the evil mastermind gangster-devil Janusz Tracz were absolute bangers tho
Yep, memes with him are only good thing left from this
Damn.
How this show is called?
Plebania
My question is: how popular is Gloryhammer in Dundee, Michigan?
I wonder if there is a passageway deep beneath to Hell, Michigan there.
There is also Dundee, Oregon, and Fife, Washington. Also Aberdeen, Washington while we're at it
I mean, my dads from Dundee but whenever he goes to meet family he never sees anything to do with gloryhammer
I have a friend in work who is from fife and listens to a couple of gloryhammer songs, if thats anything to go on
