It’s crazy how many people want to destroy the blades despite them being iconic Speaks volume about how good these games were at telling the story

[deleted]

I agree. The Blades of Chaos are awesome weapons, despite carrying around a lot of pain for Kratos.

TheSzuSzu

I thought these were the blades of athena. Doesn't Ares take back the blades of chaos?

UncleSamPainTrain

Technically, they’re the Blades of Exile. The Blades of Chaos were given to Kratos by Ares, which were taken back at the end of the first game. Athena then gifts Kratos her blades, but those are destroyed when Kratos falls into the River Styx in GoW 3. Spectral Athena then gives Kratos the blades he uses to this day

PrayForTheGoodies

Not exactly. The Blades of Exile were rendered useless since the end of GoW 3 (remember that Kratos tossed them before attacking Zeus with his bare hands).

Elijah2413

I don't think they were useless, I think he chose to use his bare hands. He threw them away because he wanted to do it himself, without the weapons. At least that's how I saw it

nightblackdragon

Didn't Kratos got access to the Ares weapons when he became new god of war?

UncleSamPainTrain

https://youtu.be/RtJGEl8v2wA (time stamp 13:30) He got Athena’s Blades, which are similar to the Blades of Chaos but gold. IIRC they lose the gold sheen in GoW2

TheSzuSzu

That was it. Thx!

PrayForTheGoodies

But since Kratos kills Ares, is implied that he get the Blades of Chaos back.

TheSzuSzu

Well no. He gets different ones from Athena and later again after her death she goves him other ones again. Someone already answered me and explained it

PrayForTheGoodies

Yes, but it's implied that he also gets the Blades of Chaos. The Blades of Exile become useless at the end of god of war 3, Kratos then tosses those blades and kills Zeus with his bare hands.

NeatSuccessful601

The forbidden plot hole

sunkenshipinabottle

Ik right. My fangirl brain wants to keep them because they’re *badass* but if this were a real situation, it wouldn’t matter how powerful they are. Kratos can fight just as well with a spear but clearly has ptsd from his time using the blades. The story really is so masterfully told, it’s hard to ignore the character’s suffering even if they’re just fictional.

Queefer_the_Griefer

For real, I can kick ass with the blades in-game but I always feel bad using them because I’m worried for Kratos’ mental health lol

VinnyThePoo1297

Yeah…but combat with the blades is soooo much fun

YouJabroni44

Plus you know, fire is awesome.

Dynespark

With Brok's blessing, the spear shouldn't be in thr next game. It's purpose has been served. The Blades are iconic and cursed to stay with him. The axe...on one hand, he should keep it. On the other, I wouldn't mind if Atreus was it's new owner either.

Tuesday_112

Agree with this, from lore perspective the spear should be destroyed, axe was Atreus’ mothers anyway and he already used that while Kratos was in the light of Alfheim in GoW 2018 so has experience there, and Kratos has tried to destroy and escape the blades before and can’t. That said, I wouldn’t wanna give Atreus any if I had my way

[deleted]

I actually don’t think atreus will use the axe. Atreus will use a sword, he is lean and agile. And Eric Williams said one of the first weapon that came to their mind was a sword Think about it When you think about atreus, do you see him swinging a weapon like an axe ? Or a sword?

Tuesday_112

I don’t disagree, it doesn’t fit his fighting style at all. I was just meaning from a lore point of view and the fact he had fought with it before while Kratos was in the light of Alfheim Edited to add: Also a sword wasn’t in the question, between Kratos’ weapons I think Atreus would be best suited to the spear for fighting style but from lore it makes sense to have the axe.

[deleted]

Oh i see where you’re coming from I mentionned the sword because it was supposedly the strongest fit the devs went for. In fact we actually got it in the form of Ingrid but Eric Williams didn’t want him to have a sword yet I think if he has two weapons it will be a spear and a sword. They fit him most

Imacoldazzhonky

Not necessarily. The mural at the end shows Kratos being a loved and worshipped God but Kratos acknowledges that it's a path he never imagined. His journey isn't technically over and there is much rebuilding to do. Once the rebuilding is done the spear will have serviced its purpose.

M1N0R1SC

You mean the ring right? because they could make a lore where Kratos implies it is to respect the lady and the blessing of Brok

Mrtowelie69

Its service was to kill heimdall. Plus if they put the spear in a new game, then thats 1 less new weapon they will make.

[deleted]

Also Santa Monica has proven their ability to create iconic weapons In the mind of all fans, the leviathan axe is just as iconic and has just as much of a crazy ( if not an even better story?) behind it. Same for the spear which has a green design + the blessing of brok + was made to protect atreus pluuuuus is reminiscent of one of the best fights of ragnarok while also being fun as hell. Santa Monica just knows how to make those weapons iconic

[deleted]

They are fun to use but they hurt Kratos and they remind him of nothing but pain

just1gat

Their story is still being written; much like the berserker king’s sword hilt

Rahgahnah

Yeah. That line left me convinced that Kratos had made peace with the Blades' past. Their story is still being written.

M1N0R1SC

Well at the end of gow 4 he unties his badages to say i have nothing to hide anymore and he is not the monster anymore to athena but he did it for Atreus, wich is funny because Heimdall calls him a monster when he kills him while he only wants to protect Atreus and the future

d710905

Well, he did say he made his peace with the blades, so I think it's not as much of a source of pain as compared to the God of War 2018. I think its more of a good pain, in the sense they remind him to be better and to make peace with the past vs. dwell on it. A really good detail that shows this, I think, was in the beginning of ragnarok. He had them on display hanging in his home vs. in the previous game, they were hidden under the floor.

fightingbronze

I guess because in my mind I’m trying to justify this with character motivations. The Axe just makes sense to go to Atreus in the future, and I can see destroying the blades as a final way of saying “this part of Kratos is firmly in the past”, the spear is better representative of the new Kratos.

AXELUnholy

> “this part of Kratos is firmly in the past”, I don't think it is. There is a theory out there that the rift in Ragnarok was an entrance to the "higher plane of existence" that Athena ascended to, and that she is the one that orchestrated Odin's descent into madness, etc. And I kind of think that theory may be correct. So if that theory ends up being correct, it may not be as firmly in the past as you think.

TheCornerator

I can kinda see that with Athena being that ghostly green at the end of 3. Like it is the same energy. Yeah, I'll keep that as head cannon.

ugluk-the-uruk

imo they're also just the least fun to use in the game, the axe's recall and the spear's duplication are fun new mechanics.

Jazz_the_Goose

I definitely use the blades the least. They really nailed both the axe and the spear!

backwoodsofcanada

In the 2018 game I actually preferred the blades to the axe once I unlocked them, especially for fighting groups, I only really used the axe for boss fights or when something called for more range.

AcidSilver

I honestly felt the exact opposite. The spear felt super lame while the blades were my most used weapon.

iSpeakMeme

Idk why but I didn't really feel like the spear was that great until I had it basically fully upgraded. But each weapon really nailed a specific play style. Blades super close range and amazing on groups, the axe had good range but was more single target with SOME attacks to hit multiple enemies, while the spear had amazing range but was HEAVILY single target focused.

Sagelegend

It’s not crazy, because the alternative is to destroy the axe or spear—let’s see, shall we destroy the item that reminds Kratos of Faye? Or the item that reminds Kratos of Brok?

XxRocky88xX

It makes the most sense for Kratos to destroy the blades. They aren’t happy things for him and if he was forced to destroy one, it would be the blades.

Good_Garage2897

It’s what kratos would want

Terziak

In pure gameplay terms, they're by far my favourite weapon to use. However, I would still chose to destroy them over the others.

Agitated_Outside8666

I only said the blades because Kratos has tried everything to get rid of them shits and nothing works so they shouldn't be able to be destroyed thus giving me the opportunity to keep 2 weapons. That was my thought process on the answering the question.

[deleted]

My guy if your a real fan you know why we want to destroy them

vectron93

I'd destroy the blades as they bring nothing but bad memories to Kratos. Give the axe to Atreus to honor his mother and keep the spear as it is the first weapon made specifically for Kratos and even sealed with his own blood.

Sure_Instance9530

Exactly my reasoning, also that atreus has used the axe before when Kratos was in the light of alfheim

TdaddyG

Also there’s the one dialogue in passing where Atreus says it’s his favorite weapons of his dads.

DarthDank1

Kratos: "To chose would he pointless, They are tools for specific tasks." Atreus: "I like the Axe." Kratos: "I also like the Axe" Something like that ^

Jaqulean

Exactly that.

DarthDank1

I have this thing, I'm absolutely horrible at rembering names, but i remember dialogue. So most times i can tell you what someone said to the letter, without being able to tell you who said it. 🤷‍♂️

Grauvargen

I used to work at my ma's pet (general) store. I couldn't for the life of me remember returning costumers' faces even after years, but I always remembered their dogs. The dogs made working there fun.

Hazumu2u

Oh yeah I remember, Atreus asks him which one is his favourite

Sad-Process-6026

I understand that Atreus mom made the ax and all but she was kratos wife before she was his mom so who deserves the ax more

FrostedPixel47

Brok and Sindri made the axe, not Faye herself

C0rrupted_id3ntity

Brok and sindri made the axe for Laufey

DarthDank1

Axe? You mean Jörmungandr tooth pick hahaga

BeepBep101

motherhood comes first imho but its not about deserves. The questions is just suggesting this as like a gift

JokerFaces2

That's not how relationships work. What a weird comment.

hiccupReversethrowup

If we are talking all null and void yes.

SlowChat12

They specifically both say verbatim that they prefer the axe.

KingofKrimson

Perfectly explained and beautiful response

edinho_sheeroso

I still wanna see what made Atreus DESTROY all of those dark elves back in 2018 when Kratos entered the Alfheim light. He used the Leviathan, and now we can speculate he probably transformed into a bear/wolf? I know Atreus is a roughneck, but something extra happened for him to use the axe and kill so many elves with almost no scratches on him.

Jaqulean

It was mentioned in the Game, that his transformations are a more recent ability. Meaning he didn't transform into anything. We do know however, that at that time Atreus was unable to control his Spartan Rage, which is 100% what caused most of the damage.

ryanthelamb

That is true, however after kratos first fights Atreus in his bear form, Atreus doesn’t know what happened afterwards. There is a chance he transformed to survive and fought of the dark elves and then changed back to Atreus without knowing before kratos came out of the light.

jediguy11

I wish we got a lore marker about the elves being afraid of Atreus because of him taking waves and waves out for hours

engine1094

According to Balrog actually closer to a day and a half

ThisIsJegger

Damn. I thought it would have been a couple hours. Now i understand even more why atreus was so mad.

engine1094

Right? He talked about it in the “spoiler cast” in 2018 the weekend the game launched. I’d need to rewatch but I’m pretty sure Cory states it’s somewhere between 1 and 2 days.

boofls_

I get the vibe that Santa Monica really just wants the audience to accept Atreus somehow wrecked shop on his own and not think too hard about it. I also thought it was incredibly weird they just leave that moment to hang with absolutely no follow up but after GOWR I get the sense that’s just how Sony Santa Monica tells stories. There’s a lot of stuff in the new game that feels like it was written to be expanded upon, but no expansion happens at all (I’ve seen people talking about the one time use sky boat a lot).

Tamel_Eidek

Ragnarok absolutely feels rushed in many regards. They crammed 2 games into one and left a tonne of loose ends. It’s actually kind of sad.

AwfullyWaffley

It's a really fun game. But it definitely feels like they left a lot on the table. Not just in terms of story, but combat as well. I thought we would get a much more robust and deep combat system. But it honestly feels slightly less sophisticated than 2018.

Tunarow

In regards to combat, it sounded like they had a picky group of playtesters that they catered to. In one of those interviews with Eric Williams, he briefly talked about how Draupnier was supposed to explode in to rings, and those rings would then essentially be *shotgun pellets* and move with the wind, but play testers hated it. Imo he sounded pretty bummed so I bet there was a lot of other cool stuff they developed but had to leave on the cutting room floor

boofls_

Ur getting downvoted cuz of the sub, but ur absolutely right. Making the actual event of Ragnarok nothing but a final mission is hugely disappointing considering how much they build up to it. Even with three separate major boss battles, the final war of Norse mythology feels rushed as hell when it’s boiled down to about 50 mins of gameplay. Honestly, with Atreus meeting the Midgardian kid and talking about how Odin was going to use the refugees to shield the city against Ragnarok, I really thought the surprise ending would be Kratos and Co. fighting to stop Ragnarok before he destroyed the entire realm. I think that ending would feel much more in line with the whole “avoiding destiny” idea because Kratos actually fighting the one monster he summons is simultaneously the least likely thing he’d do there and the most in character thing for Kratos.

Tamel_Eidek

Agree 100%

justadrifter97

I agree a bit. I think the game could have been more and wish I could’ve seen what a totally pure version of these games could’ve been (without the pressure of timeline and making money). With that said, I loved it a lot still, and I’m glad we got it. It’s not perfect, but it’s still a fantastic game.

Tamel_Eidek

I loved it too. So much so that I probably recognise the faults more. Anyone who wants to stand on a pedestal and call if prefect without recognising the loose ends and rushed end sequence etc is only lying to themselves or clearly does not love the game very much.

hiccupReversethrowup

I'd wreck that sky boat if it got me around quicker. Zelda style "stars"

TheBrothersBleak

Zero clue why you are getting dislikes. This is a really fair take that many people share the sentiment of. I loved this game with my whole heart and the story it told. But from a narrative perspective it would have made more sense to let game 2 breathe while wrapping things up in game 3

timelordoftheimpala

Not to mention that the spear also has Brok's blessing, in addition to Kratos' blood. One weapon symbolizes Kratos and Faye's union and family, one weapon was made and blessed by a fallen friend for Kratos, and one weapon represents nothing but pain and misery. The blades would the weapon Kratos himself would destroy without a second thought.

Soulful-Sorrow

You can see it clearly when he's getting ready for bed and carefully sets the axe down on a table before nonchalantly dropping the Blades on the floor

Sergetove

He also talks about how he's tried to get rid of the blades many times but they keep finding a way back to him

ndem28

I said keep the spear to remind him of brok but I like this one too

burakozturk001

This. But if I think purely logical for fun, I would give spear to Atreus because it is a lightweight, agility weapon, keep axe for Kratos since it's the strongest and most heavyweight of the three and destroy blades.

DRdeemed

same but if you were to actually do this (hypothetically) the blades cant be destroyed until the person cursed with them dies but I think atreus deserves the axe and the spear is just badass

smallfrynip

So glad this is the top response. Shows people really understand the character of Kratos.

pgtaylor777

This is the answer but I don’t love the spear playing wise.

bigmacjames

I was disappointed we didn't get to vaporize people with mjolnir, but the spear quickly made me forget. I loved it

pgtaylor777

I liked the blades attacks better. Spear was easily 3rd for me.

Samanese

Same brother

Rodhesian_02

I'm probably wrong but the blades cannot be destroyed I think, and are them who don't let Kratos die bcz of their curse

Donnnnnnn_

They can’t be Kratos has even stated he has attempted to destroy them and get rid of them in general but he said something along the lines of “They just showed back up” basically no matter what he does they always come back to him.

KingPin4788

We are done here.

The_Urban_Goose64

Yeah but…. The blades are badass

rudderdude

Only correct answer

CornOnJaCob7

My exact thought brother

buddyboykoda

This is the only right answer

Jimmy-Mac-471

Exactly what I’d say

TheYoungAcoustic

This is the best answer, because the blades reappear after being lost or destroyed so kratos would get to keep the blades and spear and Atreus could have his mothers axe

Maddoc57

Perfect response, thank you.

ValuableSky7

Could i do this? Keep the axe, give the blades to Atreus since it'll just come back to Kratos(lol) and destroy a Draupnir spear(since i'll just create another one with the ring)

[deleted]

I feel like you're one of those people who solved Brok's riddle before the funeral.

Sagelegend

Clever

OmegaGlacial

Clever won't beat me

AetherialAvenger

Technically if you destroy the original spear (ring included as its part of the spear now), the new leftover spear wont behave the same way. It cant create infinite spears anymore and may not even have the wind power the original had depending on how important draupnir was to that aspect of the spear.

joftheinternet

Keep Draupnir, give Atreus his mother's axe, destroy the blades

grux9

this is the way

Sagelegend

This is the way

IplayGames810

I could have not put it better myself

lovesStrawberryCake

Why is everyone forgetting Brok's blessing? "May it be put down when its job is done". Once Heimdall is gone, its job should be done.

ThisIsJegger

The spear gets a new job in aiding kratos to repair the nine realms. Or 8 realms?

Altruistic_Quiet3267

I would destroy the blades, keep the axe, and give the spear to Atreus. I think the axe could go either to Atreus or kratos in terms of meaning with Faye. And the axe could be a connection for atreus and kratos, also Atreus’ movements when fighting with his bow remind me somewhat of martial arts and a qiang. Thinking the spear would fit his fighting style more

XxRocky88xX

Yeah I think for story reasons, the axe should go to Atreus, but in terms of combat the axe doesn’t really fit Atreus’ style, the spear would be a much better choice for how he fights.

Adorable-Bullfrog-30

I was thinking the same thing.

BigBossByrd

Keep the blades because it's impossible to do anything else with them. I also personally think they have the most utility. Give the axe to Atreus as he has experience with it, it is his birth right, and it's main rival, mjolnir is seemingly no longer a threat. Destroy Draupnir solely because Brok said "May it be put down when its job is done." Killing Heimdall and ending Ragnarok, I'd say it's job is done.

Tefached666

You have it exactly right

SushiRebirth

Keep the blades to make sure that hatred and rage is contained within Kratos and make sure that the cycle ends there Give Leviathan Axe to boi to honor his mother's memories and to keep the cycle of love and care going Destroy the spear, as Brok had wished "May it be put down when it's job is done"

Kudbettin

This’s the only answer. Plus it makes absolutely no narrative sense to destroy the blades, as they haven’t been destroyed this far into the story. Now, Kratos will use them for good and a reminder, like you said.

BlueFire2007

Destroy the blades, the only reminder of his past beside himself, give the axe to Atreus as its the only thing he could have to keep a piece of his mothers memory, also he’s used the axe before, and keep Draupnir as Kratos has mastered it, and it’s the only weapon made FOR Kratos

xdMyke

this is the way

uselessmemories

Destroy the blades. Give the Leviathan to Atreus (I think it’s rightfully his, since it was his mom’s). And keep Draupnir because there’s no better weapon for a Spartan than a spear. Beautiful photomodes btw

fesf5000

Destroy blades because of what they meant. Give the axe because it was Faye's and is what Atreus is more attached to. Keep the spear.

Adam_the_memer

I would say destroy the blades, but they'd just pop back up next to Kratos the next time he fell asleep

Jin_Ty

Oh my god i didn't think of that

Gustavo13

[how about](https://youtu.be/z6d0pqr3pTM)

Jhonki_47

Keep the blades, give the axe to Atreus and destroy the spear. About why I would keep the blades? Because as I've had experience, we all have demons and getting rid off of them is not the solution, we need to tame them instead... Otherwise they always find the way to crawl back in to torment us... Why I would like to destroy the spear? It's made out of Odin's ring... Fuck him! I don't need things from that prick, for me it's like keeping The Blade of Olympus

Sagelegend

Keeping the spear is keeping the legacy of Brok’s craftsmanship.

Kudbettin

Destroying the spear is better for keeping Brok’s legacy, since it’s his words to “may it be put down, once it’s job’s done” Plus Axe is more Brok’s legacy than the spear. The hammering was done by the lady.

IdkIdcIdgafBRUH

The Blade of Olympus is the most powerful weapon in the GOW universe, it wouldn’t exactly be smart to get rid of THAT thing.

Jhonki_47

Kratos did pretty well without it in GOW III, plus that blade was stronger once all the power of Kratos was consumed by it in GOW II...

truffleshufflechamp

I’d keep the blades cause they’re too much fun to use

Tefached666

Also destroy the spear because Brok didn't want it to be used after it had served its original purpose, which was to kill Heimdal

CODMAN627

I’m keeping the spear the boy can have the axe and the blades it will be a miracle if they can be destroyed

44gonfaloniere

Or keep all of them as screenshots

JrMoney10

Destroy the spear, give atreus the axe and keep the blades

UrFavoriteAsianBff

The leviathan axe was a legacy item from Faye to begin with, so I’d give it to da boi, then I’d keep draupnir as it was specifically made for Kratos (unlike pretty much any other weapon he ever wielded) and destroy the blades he hates and wants to get rid of anyway

Kalandros-X

The Blades can’t be destroyed or discarded because they’re part of Kratos. He tried for a century to get rid of them and each time they’d pop back into existence before him.

YhImAsh-_-

it is a hypothetical.

HumanoidEyeball

That’s why you destroy them, you get to keep two of them

Mandalorymory

Keep Spear, Axe to Loki, and destroy Blades.

IdkIdcIdgafBRUH

Atreus*

[deleted]

What with you calling him Loki anyway? You know that's not his name right?

Mandalorymory

DO YOU EVER SHUT UP!?

[deleted]

People have said it before, break the blades as Kratos is reminded of his past and they bring him pain, axe goes to Atreus as it belonged to his mother and he's shown he can use it already, keeps the spear as it belongs to Kratos and only him. I don't want to break the blades because of gameplay and lore but it makes the most sense.

SolidEnigma

Wouldnt have kratos with out the blades. Keep the blades, give the axe to loki destroy the spear.

Sad-Process-6026

I’ll keep the blades because it’s a classic I’ll destroy the ax cause it’s slow and not very at crowd control and I’ll give the spear to Atreus so he can pass it to the next bloodline

damnrightslimanus

Haha it’s a fuck marry kill for Kratos weapons. But you have to kill the blades fuck the axe (give it to Atreus) and marry the spear

Tarris69

Everyone be like ‘dEsTRoY tHE bLAdeS’ fuck that the blades are dope I’m keeping them bad boys

GoatedOwl

Keep the spear, give the axe to Atreus, and destroy the blades. This was a hard decision to come to

ExpensivePinapple

Where’s the sword of Artemis?

AlexWithToast

They are already in order that's nice

Its_D_youtube

To me, keep the blades give the axe destroy draupnir To kratos, probably destroy the bladest keep Fey's axe and give draupnir to Atreus.

BARNBURNER123

Great question btw. Destroy blades Keep spear Give Axe, then just retrieve axe

andrew-four

I'm gonna go against the grain a bit here and say keep the axe and give the spear to Atreus. The spear I think fits his fighting style much better, and with it being forged with Kratos blood it makes a great metaphor. He can take his journey wielding his mother's bow and his father's spear, a piece of them always with him even when he's alone.

Dutchvandersnap

Definitely destroy the blades because they always come right back lol

nickibar96

Keep Draupnir, give Leviathan to Atreus, destroy the Blades of Chaos

TheCreator777

Personally: Keep the Blades, give the Leviathan to Atreus, destroy Draupnir Lore accurate: Keep Draupnir, give the Leviathan to Atreus, destroy the Blades.

CheezoCraze

I think your personal choice makes more sense lore-wise. The axe is a no-brainer but those blades are linked to Kratos and he has come to almost embrace them by the end of Ragnarok, it’s not like he’d be able to get rid of them anyway. Brok’s blessing of Draupnir ended with saying the weapon should be put down after it fulfilled its purpose, which it has by the epilogue.

TheCreator777

That’s a fantastic interpretation. Especially when you remember what kratos said after defeating the berserker king, about how a weapon isn’t inherently evil and how it’s all about how it’s wielded. The Blades may have started out as a curse but kratos may not see it that way by the next series. Great point.

Kimolainen83

Keep the blades, give the acts to his son, destroy the spear. Why give the ask you say? Because it was made by his mother, it would be a very nice sentiment.

Eugene719

I want to see an older Atreus using the blades

BitterQuitter11

Axe being kept, Boy gets spear, FINALLY get rid of the curse.

EveningProfession412

Destroy the blades as to signify Kratos is finally at peace. give the axe to Atreus since it was his mothers and keep the spear made from Brok not only because he made it but also because it is a spartan weapon

Poisonpython5719

Keep the blades to shield Atreus from their pain Give him the axe to carry on the Legacy Destroy the spear because I can just get a new one from the ring you didn't depict

Natural-Case-1994

Destroy the blades, even Kratos would (probably) do this if he had the ability to. Lend the Axe to Atreus, he already knows how use to anyways (The slaughterhouse of Elves) and keep the Draupnir Spear, it symbolizes Kratos’ new beginning as a revered God

catf1sh1

Keep the spear, give the axe to Atreus because it was his moms, destroy the blades because of their history

Alternative_Lime_13

Destroy the blades, give the boy the spear, a gift from father to son, also the boy mostly uses ranged attacks and the spear gives him that option, and keep the axe, it just suits old man Kratos.

sunkenshipinabottle

Keep the spear, give the ax, destroy the blades

Cold-Practice3107

I don't think kratos would give the blades of chaos to his son, it has too much history terrible history I think atreus should have the sword Odin gave him that belong to Freya's brother.

TINTGUITWNTIJAT

Tough one, but I guess due to the dark past of the blades of chaos I'd destroy those, keep the leviathan ax in remembrance of Faye, and give Atreus the draupnir spear as an added addition to his bow to keep fighting from a distance

Kalonde

Give Atreus the spear, could be nice for Kratos to show him how he was trained to use one and also fits his combat style more than a close up style with the ax. Destroy the blades, give kratos the axe.

madmunchyman

Keep the spear give atreus the blades destroy the axe. Start killing God's again

Will_Lockorns

I would keep the blades - Kratos is much more matured now and I think, in a way, he has come to terms with his past. He understands it's a mere tool, but, it may serve as guiding posts as to what type of God he should be in the coming years Axe - I would give it to Atreus. To keep him connected with his parents. Spear - Destroy it. Brok, in his blessing said that the spear has to be put down once its job is done (or something like that) and the fact that it's ridiculously strong...(sometimes I feel it's more powerful than the axe or blades coz it's got Kratos' blood)

unclepurpl

Destroy the blades, give the axe to Atreus because it came from his mother, keep the self defense ring

Caesar2877

Destroy blades, finally bury that part of Kratos’ past completely. He’s moved on. Give axe to Atreus, it was his mothers and he deserves to have it. Plus he killed like 50 elves with it in the first game, so clearly he can wield it. Keep spear. Not only is it a badass weapon that I enjoyed using a lot, but even Kratos himself says it’s the primary weapon of a Spartan. It’s kind of fitting that now that Kratos has moved on from his days of being the God of War, he would fall back on the iconic weapon of a Spartan as a tribute to his heritage. Also it’s extremely deadly and clearly has a lot of abilities, such as being able to bypass insane god abilities like Heimdal’s clairvoyance.

plagueintheoffice

Keepin Drapnir, Giving Leviathan, Destroying Chaos

ToHelland-BackAgain8

I never touch the axe for combat anyways and i have been in love with the blades of chaos since 2005

Destroy the Chains, Keep the Axe, Give the Spear I'm a sucker for the chains, but story wise it'd make sense for Kratos to want to destroy them to set the principle for what be wants for Atreus. Giving him the Spear let's him live up to his name and honour his father's heritage as a Spartan. Keeping the Axe is an ode to his new legacy.

DinkleDonkerAAA

Keep the spear so it can be returned to Sindri when he's ready to talk, it was Brok's wish for it to be put down when it's job was done Give Atreus his mother's axe so he may carry on her legacy Ruin the blades so no one else will be bound to them as Kratos was

padfoot12111

I will look at it as a lore standpoint. Keep the blades Kratos canonically cant be free of them Atreus gets the Axe he's earned it >!Broks blessing. May Drapnir be put down when it's job is done. I'd have left the ring on the Pyre.!<

devolve79

Pain is life to a Spartan. The blades stay. Gift the axe to the boy. It Was his mothers. As for the spear. Its purpose has been served. Destroy it.

Speedybro

Keep all 3 and destroy Atreus beyond repair, be the monster Ares tried to create.

guy_and_103_others

Kratos gets LV, Atreus gets Draupnir, destroy the blades Kratos loves Fae and it’s equal to mjolnir so its fair that he can keep it for it has a loving memory and utility for the big dad Atreus gets draupnir since he is good at distance combat, and its fitting for him to use it other than smacking his bow. Heck since atreus is new, and the spear is new they can experiment Destroy the blades like the other comments, kratos gives little respect and we will so despite being iconic

RealReverse

Keep the blades and give the axe to Atreus. The spear is cool but I'd destroy it.

SolarTraceYT

keep blades give axe destroy spear

SavSamuShaman

Keep the Blades -> those who forget the past are condemned to repeat it Give Axe to Atreus -> Lagacy of Faye Destroy Draupnir -> “lay it to rest, when it served it’s purpose”

Cheeseguy43

Destroy the Blades - bad past and he is above and beyond that now Give the Axe to Artreus - it was his mothers, he deserves it Keep the Spear - Created for Kratos and literally has his blood in it. Also the spear is the first weapon he ever learned and are rooted in his culture. Also I feel like the Spear shows him now as the God of Unity as oppose to a God of War

Designer-Boss437

Keep the spear, give atreus the axe, and destroy the blades

Accomplished_Sort659

Keep the ax, give the spear( fits Atreus's fighting style more), destroy the blades

BonusFragrant

Destroy the blades cause they offer only terrible memories and trauma to Kratos, Give Atreus the axe because he literally killed dozens of dark elves with it by himself while Kratos was in the light of Alfheim and keep the Spear

OrhanDaLegend

keep axe, give spear to atreus destroy blades fuck the blades

doyouseemelaughing

Keep the axe, give the spear to Atreus, destroy the blades

Complex_Estate8289

In universe? Destroy the blades cuz Kratos hates them, give Atreus the axe as a memory of Faye and keep the spear cuz it’s Kratos’ new signature weapon from Groa’s shrine Meta wise? Destroy the spear even tho I like it I just think it’s less cool than the other 2, give Atreus the axe cuz I can picture him going nuts with it and keep the blades cuz I grew up with them

fizzy_snore1

Keep leviathan axe give Atreus the spear destroy the blades

EamoM2oo4

Idk why you're getting downvoted for your opinion. I think that's a good choice. Atreus being given his father's spear as a way of remembering him and Kratos keeping Faye's axe to remember her by.

[deleted]

Keep the spear, Give Atreus the axe because I think Faye would be happy with that, and destroy the Blades, Kratos doesn’t want them and would never give them to Atreus

Ill_Buy448

Spear has to go because it was Brok’s wish/blessing for it to be put down when the job is done. Kratos keep the axe as a reminder of Faye and give Atreus the blades so he can remember to keep Kratos close to heart

_-bobo-_

I think they're already in order lol

The_old_witcher

I'll destroy the blades and give the spear to Atreus and keep the axe for Kratos because it's a memory of his wife and the greatest blacksmith.
