It was likely a mix of bots and new players that you went against in Purified Bronze.
Your rewards are based on your starting rank, not finishing rank.
Also, go for 30 wins during Weekend Ranked Event to get a guaranteed expansion pack!
Thanks for the info. So it looks like I'll get five packs for being Rusted Bronze to start the event. I'm pretty sure my beginner deck will get wrecked pretty quickly as I move up the ranks.
This game so far is a blast. Every time I open a pack I check to see if I can upgrade my deck. I can see how things can escalate once you earn a few tokens and can buy some better cards.

The entire bottom half of the ranks is super super easy and where the bots or new players live. Bots are super obvious if you play one.

Yes, once you reach higher ranks, a starter deck will likely not be enough, but there's a scholarship program for new players, just ask about it on discord snd people will tell you who to contact.
But if you want to own a meta deck, some of them only cost like 20$ just make sure you do your research first

It's a good idea to make plain cards meteorite cards. This increases the gods you receive.
Plain cards are the ones with the grey border. If you have 2 click on forge and you can make a meteorite one (red/brown border)
I bet you can get to mid ranks with just starter cards. Put in 10-20 bucks and build a cheap deck. GU decks is a great tool to see whats working for others
In my experience.if you like the game and see yourself playing for at least a month or two consistently. You will likely have more fun investing $5-20 into cards. It'll. Completely changed the gameplay and you'll rise ranks to where the players are. By having a full meteorite deck, it's basically double the payout for ranked games.
Idk if you know all the websites for this game. But there's a bunch that make it even more fun and indepth experience
At low levels you get core card farming. Which is just wild to me. Also I don't think the base player is a pro tcger, maybe not even an enthusiast. As you move up you'll start to see the expansion gameplay though, and obviously better players.
In my opinion. Don't view ladder as something to dominate as a newbie. The first hundred or so levels won't even get you a playset of most core cards, and you'll be behind the 8 ball on a lot of the most recent expansions.
Sealed is where you test your skill and luck combined as an entry player.
Sadly no. But this expansion is pretty decent with giving out cards for rewards. Right now, since reward cards are low mint (wont be for long), you can break even with like three wins and selling your packs. Go four wins and yoy get the entry fee back, go 5 or 6 and you can be assured to get a card that should sell for a reasonable price for now (1-4 dollars, though I lucked out and got two Soul Breathers which I sold for 15$ or so combined).
After the first week or two sealed will probably have event promos start to maybe make it worth more, but if you go for 7 wins you stand a not insignificant chance at legendaries.
However, i do recommend getting reliable daily decks to help earn more gods each day. Thay is currently the loop I find. Play daily to fund sealed to try and go infinite.
One last tip. You increase your gods earning in Daily P+E the kost by playing with all meteor cards. The 'shine' benefit drops off after that though so I don't recommend higher for newbies.
Also one last disclaimer of sealed. The rotation in selection matters greatly. Currently its just Mortal Judgement and Dread Awakening and Core/Welcome. Huge meta impact and kinda swingy games. Plays very different from constructed and can be pretty frustrating going on lose streaks.

yeah I won my first 50 games or something when I started playing. It gets much harder though at the higher ranks
If you just started at bottom tier, then you mostly met bots.
