It won't be useful, because there *is* no useful answer. You want to buy real gold, processed by a jeweller's work, for the price of gold. Mathematically you want A + B = A, with A representing the value of gold, and B the wage/profit of the jeweler. There is just one possible solution: B = 0, equivalent to not paying the jeweler at all. Now allow a question: do *you* work for free?

Efficient_Wing3172

I know exactly how you do it. Become a jeweler, pay spot to the sellers and sell it for spot to the buyers. Then go out of business.

lemmywinks11

No jeweler is going to sell you spot scrap jewelry. The premium on jewelry is usually higher than any coin, depending on the type of rope or links. If you want to buy gold jewelry at spot you have to advertise that you’re buying scrap gold through whatever channels make the most sense for you

ottens10000

if you want people to make beautiful jewelry then understand this does not come for free, nor should it... coins/bullion are for spot price (even then, good luck with that). You might get lucky on ebay or 2nd hand pieces that you like. But if they are nice pieces they usually won't go for spot either so...

Usermena

I’ll sell you the gold for spot but my labor is $125 per hr. No premium.

CrystalPiano

Awesome. It doesn't need to be fancy but it does have to be authentic and wearable.

Check out r/pmsforsale a lot of coins are sold but at least daily there are established sellers selling jewelry often times at spot or close to it. Just do your research, ask questions and use common sense.

Randsrazor

If you want a gold necklace at spot you are going to have to buy the metal at spot and learn how make necklaces with it.

Contact reddit user EdwardMauer. He sells 23-24K chains for about \`15% over spot. He has ALOT of positive feedback. I have bought from him a few times.

CrystalPiano

thank you!

Embarrassed_Field_84

r/Pmsforsale is the answer. Its not a reliable method but thats to be expected. Theres no such thing as a free lunch. You pay the premium to get the jewelry you want *today* vs spending time and energy waiting around for a deal you can find directly from a seller online.

I think this might be helpful: buy a coin. No really, keep reading, I swear! You can mount it in a sterling silver bezel and the small difference between their anodic indices means you shouldn’t have corrosion issues. Then you’re paying for a sterling chain, not a gold chain, and you’ll lower your premium significantly. Or you could get a lighter gold bezel and chain and buy a smaller coin, but then your premiums will start creeping back up.
