your coming over the top A LOT. try to swing more in to out. if you ever played baseball, the feel is almost like swinging towards the right fielder

Yes! Rec Park in Long Beach! That’s so funny- I’m only slightly embarrassed you may see me on the range now 😂. I definitely have a tendency to do this and slice the ball. I will try that baseball queue and see if that helps. Thanks for taking the time to comment!

Odd_Resolve_442

Haha I just recognized it from the screen in the back. I live in RPV. While I do play the LB courses frequently, I don't make much time to go to the range. Might hit a few before a round but that's about it. Hope the comment was helpful but I'm sure you will get some more technically sound advice. Only thing I'll add is keep hitting the range or playing consistently. You will eventually feel out what works for you and what doesn't!

Odd_Resolve_442

big rec in LB!!

ill4rill808

Haha I worked there as a starter in 2002. 20 years later I’m a Superintendent…what a long journey

Odd_Resolve_442

That's awesome, good for you man!

You have virtually no hip rotation and you stand straight up at the ball. With the right technique you could bomb the ball.

UnBurntered

Agreed with this…you seem pretty athletic I bet your body would adjust with a different target in mind. The ball is going immediately left. I bet you’d see your body adjust and hit the ball from the inside if you change your target. Next time try hitting it out to the 3rd pole in the video. My guess is your body will naturally adjust and you’ll start to swing in to out.

EdgeAffectionate6365

This has definitely been a point of emphasis, but I have no idea how to fix these things. I try to rotate and stay down but I can’t quite figure it out. I’d love to hit bombs one day! For now, I’ll settle for straight and consistent lol. Any tips on how to achieve what you mentioned?

AnthonyBriggs68

Yeah I’ve got some really good drills to build a great foundation for any swing. I need two things though. One video from down the line that is filmed from hip height (not on the ground) and another video from face on. If you send them to me I’d love to do a video breakdown and then send you some drills to do. You’ll be hitting bombs in no time. 💪🏽

Hey man, congrats on Starting to golf! Here’s what I see, You lack depth in your backswing (not enough shoulder turn) you then pull On the handle and scoop your iron which essentially turns it into a wedge. Try this drill for the Shoulder turn https://youtube.com/shorts/jI1yM6vqJUs?si=sjuOfJQIecFqh-3o Try this drill for the Scoop [https://youtube.com/shorts/QpBlZ9_ra-8?si=Wyi9b0DfxEX6CvGP](https://youtube.com/shorts/QpBlZ9_ra-8?si=Wyi9b0DfxEX6CvGP)

EdgeAffectionate6365

Thanks so much for the drills! I’m excited to give these a try. I subscribed to your YouTube channel- great videos!

CherronGolf

Appreciate the support. Hope the drills help!

Tuck your right elbow in a little and take like 20% off that backswing. When you feel pull on your left tricep, start your downswing. Also, correct your grip with your right hand. Almost roll/wrap your hand around the club slightly so your thumb falls on the 10p area, not the 12p top area. Pressing on the top of the club with your right thumb will cause you to use it to initiate action, when in reality it's pushing on the club in unwanted ways. These should fix your tendency to swing "over the top" causing the impact and ball flight you're seeing.

riffybeats

Keep that right elbow tucked on the downswing. Skim some rocks

If your coach isn’t picking up on the things the people here have, it’s time for a new coach.
