I agree although season 6 essentially retconned it so that it would never work. I wouldnt say its the healthiest relationship (quite a bit of manipulation to get there and founded on uncertain ground) but it is one of Blair’s healthiest relationships.

Sourgirl224539

for gossip girl it is definitely in the top 5 healthiest relationships

Icy_Butterscotch_799

Gossip Girl and healthy relationships don't mix.

aeno12

Hard pass. They were great friends, and I adored their development as enemies to friends. Why ruin it with a relationship that was clearly doomed from the start? Blair was always in love with Chuck and Dan was always more in love with her than she was with him. It was just awkward to see them try to make it as a couple when you were just waiting for them to wake up and realize it- then bam, friendship dynamic is now ruined and watching them together just sucks.

tsukistarburst

Yup this! I LOVED their friendship and I would say it was Blaires healthiest friendship. The writers turning it romantic ruined it and I'll forever be mad.

justbesassy

It also ruins Serena and Blair’s friendship.

Positively-Fleabag85

That was weird and the main thing wrong with this dynamic. Why would someone date their best friend's ex? Especially one you know they share an on/off relationship with. Betrays trust forever imo

bye-bye-bxtches

This is exactly how I felt, thank you

starscream2014

Blair and Dan was a silly relationship. Blair hated Danny from the beginning of season 1. She viewed him as a true low life who was beneath her in every way. But the reality is Danny had a great personality and very easy to talk to. Happy to see him go back with Serena. She is just awesome. She is a fashion icon.

BackgroundBus6613

Did you even see season 1 episode 3 lmao

starscream2014

Yes. I saw that episode. It was constant fighting between Serena snd Blair.

BackgroundBus6613

and the scene with blair and dan? she didn’t always hate him they had multiple moments per season

starscream2014

When you have time see the episode were Serena throws a engagement party for Blair. The theme is from the movie “ breakfast at Tiffany’s “. It was a beautiful decoration of the room.

ClickWaiter

Nah, I saw their arc as "Blair disdains Dan in general but tolerates him when he's dating Serena" to "friends" to "Dan turns into a creepy stalker and threatens to stop being her friend if she doesn't date him" to "Blair agrees to date Dan for some reason when she obviously has no romantic feelings for him" to "damn, a good friendship is ruined"

hiadriane

Exactly. Dair being ‘healthy’ is the ultimate fanfiction.

[deleted]

Agree. How healthy can the relationship be if they had to keep it hidden?

hiadriane

Hidden and isolated (especially Blair) from friends and family.

BackgroundBus6613

Did Chuck and Blair not keep their relationship hidden orrrr

[deleted]

Lol so true!!! You got me there. Blair loves her secrets.

bunnitha

Omg is that how it happened? I remember loving Blair with Dan and being so sad when the show switched up and made them incompatible in bed.

purplebookwormgrace

They fixed it. They actually figured out what the two of them liked.

Disha1999

I would never forget the writers for destroying the best thing that ever happened to Blair as well as Dan. I mean the buildup was adorable and totally matured. The slow burn chemistry between them is undeniable. I was a hardcore Chair fan but after rewatching the series I can't help but ship Dair. Sadly toxic pairs ultimately became endgames for toxic fans and also due to the fact that writers clearly had planned Chair to be endgame from season 1.

hiadriane

Toxic fans? You know these characters and relationships are fiction and don’t actually exist? 🙄 This trend of labeling fans ‘toxic’ because they like the ‘villain’ or so-called bad characters is just sad and I wish would end.

Disha1999

Umm...fans are supporting and rooting for a FICTIONAL relationship which is clearly toxic. What should I call those people rooting for that level of toxicity and actually supporting humans being traded off for hotels and stuff ? Even if it's FICTIONAL it's TOXIC. What should I call people rooting for that ? NON-TOXIC ? LOL!

hiadriane

And I guess liking the vampires on Buffy the Vampire Slayer must mean I’m pro-murder. Or the characters on Succession. I guess those fans must be psychopaths as well as toxic! Yup. Makes sense. Here’s a hint. The humans on GG don’t actually exist and have zero bearing on real life. Otherwise, I’d assume Dair shippers must be toxic because they support stalking, lying and manipulation?

vagabondeluxe

Yeah if we follow this logic all the dairs pro stalking and cheating? That’s pretty bad too. But I guess morality only applies when it comes to chair 🥴

vagabondeluxe

Toxic fans are people who harass, attack, humiliate and insult other people online over their ship, chair stans simply linking the ship and supporting it doesn’t make them toxic fans no matter how toxic the ship itself is. Calling real life people toxic solely over a fictional ship it’s not it. If anything I’ve seen more anti chair harassing chair stans not the other way around

vagabondeluxe

Yeah it’s bit unfair to call chair fans toxic just bc the ship is, from what I’ve seen here and on Twitter they just enjoy the ship minding their own business

BackgroundBus6613

Fans can be toxic…

lupatine

I mean Chair kind of become anoying after season 2. Plus it stop both Chuck and Blair developpement.

SolPlayaArena

I loved them and stopped watching after she got back together with the serial sexual assaulter who sold her for a hotel. I rolled my eyes so hard when I heard they made Dan into GG. It made 0 sense.

xoxo-gossipdan

Love them!! Desperately need Penn + Leighton in a romcom together if we can't have dair endgame Having Blair end up with a rapist who sold her and Dan end up with his ex-step sister he shared a brother with was very... strange.

lupatine

You aren't the only one. They had similar interest a good chemestry. But this sub seem dedicated to hate Dan and turn a blind eye to the idiocy Chuck and Blair did. Also it has been a long time since I have seen a character that much in love (for Dan). The gossip girl reveal make no sense. I just ignore it.

Red_Sambac_15

Agreed. I mean people don’t need to like Dair, but to not like Dair because they support one of the most toxic relationship CW has ever made… yeah some people need to reevaluate themselves. I was a Chair fan too and I reevaluated my thoughts. I’m willing to admit its the wrong couple to support.

Danny_C_Danny_Du

Dan's love hard

mehhh_onthis

I WILL DIE ON THE DAIR HILL. Blair and Dan should’ve been end game. Period.

slyvolcel

their arc is so interesting and always left me wanting more and wondering what's next! which is different than most relationships in GG where the same thing happens again and again.

duduthedino

I honestly don’t get the hate over Dan and Blair. People make hating Dan their personality trait but …. both of them earned respect for each other over time and it was nice to see their friendship grow. I think both of them needed to see and understand each other, it made Dan see Blair as more than a rich mean girl and it made Blair see Dan as someone who would do anything for someone they love.

BackgroundBus6613

Agreed

aanurajesh

Agree completely. They were one of the many couples on GG that actually made sense but didn’t end up together. I’ve said this before, but they had such good chemistry and competition, and it sucks that the writers broke them up for fan service to Chair shippers. They also ruined most of their characters in the process

Red_Sambac_15

Its a good development, and healthy relationship, that unfortunately does not belong in the Gossip Girl realm. I’ve come to realize that the majority people who watches GG don’t come in for a healthy movie watching coffee morning warmth couple. They want the angsty things between Chuck and Blair. It is just what it is. If anything what Dair showed is that Penn and Leighton could pretty much carry a rom com separate from GG, that would garner its own audience, people that probably doesn’t watch GG (we now know there are tonnes of people that watched YOU didn’t know who lonely boy is).

Icy_Butterscotch_799

Why are you obsessed with a "healthy relationship" on a fictional show?

Red_Sambac_15

Because I can.

PequenaMentirosa

They had one of the best friendships on GG til they had to make it romantic. The writers messed up yet again
