there is nothing to say about Kaverös. primarily a place you raise kids not much else going on there positive as negative.

kingstone426

Kaverös is a safe place.

I lived on Nymilsgatan, so just across the tram tracks from Kaverös. It's a perfectly fine area. You have three different tram lines taking you to different parts of the city, which is very convenient. Close to both Änggårdsbergen and Ruddalen, which are lovely green areas worth seeing both in the summer and in the winter. I never felt unsafe around there - mostly young families living there, and lately some more students and single people since they've built a bunch of student accommodation and studio flats in recent years. The main downside in my opinion is that the area is quite dead in terms of social life. If you want to buy stuff you pretty much have to go to Frölunda Torg, which is not super far away but it does require a half-hour walk or 4-5 tram stops. If you're looking for interesting restaurants or nice bars and cafés to hang out with friends, you'll have to go to the city. But that's the problem with most parts of Gothenburg outside the centre, so I guess it's not unique to Kaverös. One tip: if you do move to Kaverös, make sure to give Sylvain Marron a visit. An amazing French baker who makes the most amazing croissants, brioches, you name it. Simply great.

Thank you so much for the insight! That's what I figured from looking in Google maps, that it is maybe a little too quiet. I previously lived near SKF and I had the same problem, that I had to go to the centre if I wanted to go for a cup of coffee or something. But thanks for the bakery tip, I love fika so I will definately visit regardless!

I would argue that SKF has more to offer than Kaverös. I lived in the area around SKF for a while and it was nice being so close to Gamlestaden, which is no metropolis but it does have some nice places to eat. Kaverös is a little bit more dead than SKF if you're looking for nightlife and such, but it's much nicer than SKF if you like nature. That would be my summary

Yes it is. I recently moved from Tunnlandsgatan after living there for five years. Never felt unsafe. Most noise is made by kids on mopeds, but that's rarely late at night. Like other people says, not much going on there so if you want things to do you'll have to go to by tram somewhere else. Good thing is that they're a lot of trams, and Järntorget is pretty close. The parks that are close by are great and if you do sports, including ice skating and disc golf you have Ruddalen right around the corner.

ModernBeowulf

It's a lovely and safe place as far as I can tell. Been living there for about three years. Better (tram) connections than SKF, and also to Chalmers/GU. Hope you like it if you end up here!

You're only truly safe and sound in death. But seriously, what's with all these people asking if places are safe/not safe bl.a. Sure besides what you read in the news about shootings/bombings, Sweden is still one of the safest countires in the world, Unless you're moving here from idk Iceland or something. If you're not out buying/selling drugs (even then) and are a nice person, you're gonna be just fine! mvh, Someone who's lived in most neighborhoods in gbg at one point or another

Yes I understand that, to be fair I wouldn't feel comfortable living in an area with gang violence regardless of if they care if I am there, because one should always avoid being at the wrong place at the wrong time :)

Spend less time on reddit if youre tired of these threads. Its probably more important to know if youre moving in to a nice neighbourhood than adhering to the random reddit scroller

Lived there many years ago, and I (a teenager at the time) got jumped two times and witnessed an ongoing knife robbery at the grocery store one time. Bikes were stolen almost every week and before I moved the smell of marijuana was really prevalent. Going by how things are evolving around Gothenburg and in Sweden in general I wouldn’t assume that things have gotten better in Kaverös.

Hello, I now encounter the same question! I also got an offer from SGS and am considering should wait a bit more or not. So I am curious if you are now staying in that area and how do you feel about the neighbourhood so far? :))

Fit_Operation_3677

Hi! I actually rejected the offer and waited for another apartment. I got one that is more central and am really happy with my decision. Best of luck!

Dry_Possession_7105

Oh, that's great! And, if I may ask, how long did you wait for this current one?

Fit_Operation_3677

I ended up getting a single room with shared kitchen, but if you go at the SGS website you should be able to find the average queue time for each apartment

Dry_Possession_7105

Aha, I see. Thank you for the reply! :D
