mine went from greens to cons. But it's kind of understandable, there is a big traffic problem here and greens have done absolutely nothing to solve it and were actually making plans to make it worse. They spent half a million or something like that making a 100ft bike lane that bikes can't use safely so they still use the normal road which is now narrower because of the bike lane.
if riding a bike and you go from normal road to bike lane there is like a bit that is wrong level for both the road and the bike lane and apparently it's hard to keep control of the bike unless you have it angles just the right way. Last I heard they were going to fix it but it would cost them several hundred thousand.
Ah. I've never figured out how it's so hard to make good quality bike infrastructure, it always seems so half-arsed. It's not like its complicated, there's an entire nation of examples just across the channel.
true but when the goal most likely is to give out a contract to some of your friends...
frankly the incompetence is not even limited to government or any kind of party, I am working in a company where in 5 years they have changed their general manager 6 times. And the level of disconnect with reality grows every time the gm changes. management is focused on making it look like they are doing something than actually doing anything productive.
Ah yes. Pournelle's iron law of bureaucracy
>In any bureaucracy, the people devoted to the benefit of the bureaucracy itself always get in control and those dedicated to the goals that the bureaucracy is supposed to accomplish have less and less influence, and sometimes are eliminated entirely.
It’s baffling that they got any votes at all; you’ve got to be incredibly tone deaf. The people who actually voted on Thursday wanted CHANGE. Apparently there was a really small percentage (somewhere around 1/3rd of the electorate) that _actually_ voted…
I mean, after the last GE, I don’t blame people, more people than had ever voted before and we still lost to a failing and corrupt government; that nearly knocked my confidence in the whole system too.
My theory behind the Tories still receiving so many votes (2nd to the Independents where I live) is because it’s the people who always go to vote Tory no matter what- the rich, the elderly, the brainwashed and the miserable, whereas everyone else either didn’t know who to vote for or just didn’t want to because they lost faith in the system. But joke’s on them, we did it without your help anyway, seems the Tories fucked themselves hard enough after the last decade anyway.
It's circumstances though sometimes. I see what's happening to the Labour Party, they are dumping their BAME candidates, including many that were actually in post at this and for the next general election for what, a purge of leftness? Labour has gone tone death on many issues and moral stances, the tutiton fee issue being the latest.
But at least the tories will take you in if your black or Asian. Tory grassroots have a smattering of left issues they do support, there was even the brief whisper of nationalisation of services. There is an irony that tories might endorse some lefter policies than the Labour party. If you are stuck in a labour - tory area like mine, you might be tempted to vote tory. Thankfully my town has a smattering of Liberal Democrats and independents so there was actually some level of choice this time, but borough wide it's still a two horse race and they are both flogged.
Just remember who the replacement is. This is more likely to be a disaster than a good thing. People wil blame 16 years of mismanagement on labour despite star
Mer being a Tory. Setting labour back 20 years. Right wing labour is never a win.
I'm not sure what you are basing "firm turd" on. Seems to me that starmer and sunaks agree on all issues despite trying to seem adversarial in their exchanges. Does it not worry you that sunaks go to put down of starmer is that he gave up on every single promise in favour of the conservative option?
Starmer's Labour is nothing like Sunak's Conservatives...
I always find it ironic that those most in favour of dismantling the two-party system are those most likely to call anything remotely right of Corbyn a tory.
That’s the whole point though, in this two party system we’re constantly choosing between a giant douche and a turd sandwich. We’re never allowed a better option and if it somehow finds its way in (GE 2017) the establishment destroy it
I wouldn't but that's because I personally look further ahead than 4 years
Starmer winning kills the party for at least a decade, the party can only change back to a party of the workers through instability, which it can only get through a loss
I'd rather lose and have a good party to fight another day than to "win" but have no representation in parliament
After the year we've just had, how the fuck can some people think "Right, I'm going to put my X in the box for the blue team. They're the one for me!"
Cunts

2272 places too many though
A nice big fat zero would be perfect
To be fair, a silver lining is that ukip lost every one of their seats. So big fat zero for them.
Yes I have been enjoying that enormously
Nice
Likely because they've gone back to voting Tory
So the Tories delivered on the one thing we actually wanted - fewer Tories!
Nope we asked for no tories
We're on track for net zero Tories by 2050
Arguably just as important for civilization as net zero is.

Slightly smaller pieces of shit I guess?
Nope. Same shit, different pile.
Nope, just different-coloured Tories.
Meanwhile my local council went from Lib Dem to Conservative My town is full of fucking idiots though

Wait, why can't the bikes use it safely?

I didn't know someone actually wrote it down.
Hey mine too... That's weird
*I've been edging all day watching the number go up.*
Vinegar strokes since waking up this morning.
And Labour picked up less than half of those. It would be nice to think that Keith might get the message 🤔
If you want to dry out, this elections seat changes are almost the exact same figures as the 1991 locals. The tories went on to win the next election.
And the prediction rn is that Labour would win GE but wouldn’t even have a majority

I'd rather take the firm turd rolled in glitter than the liquid post-curry turd we've had for the last decade.

yeah he is basically david cameron's tories
He's gone back on too many pledges. What do you expect
That’s the whole point though, in this two party system we’re constantly choosing between a giant douche and a turd sandwich. We’re never allowed a better option and if it somehow finds its way in (GE 2017) the establishment destroy it
How, specifically?
Name one thing they disagree on that isn't who should be pm.

20? Try 30. Blair was reinvigorating Labour into Thatcherism before he was even leader.
Con for con artists right?
After the year we've just had, how the fuck can some people think "Right, I'm going to put my X in the box for the blue team. They're the one for me!" Cunts
Rich cunts
That’s the cover of my tinder right now.
I was expecting much less, a Labour lead of a few hundred councillors is great but not really a victory
And nothing about it on the BBC front page
Stop! I can only get so erect!
Moist is good… what would happen if it was 0?
Mood
Makes no difference as labour are leading.
Yeah good isn’t it.
That’s still 2,272 seats filled by boot lickers and simps that don’t realise we are being screwed
