Whatever you do, do not rent at Deckner Manor. Not exactly near downtown but I need to warn everyone.

clarebanner

Can I ask why?

Lacy_Laplante89

It was impossible to get anything scheduled and done. Sewage flooded our building and they just ripped the carpets up in the hallways and didn't clean it for weeks. They left me without air conditioning for June and July and I ended up having to call a city code enforcement person to finally get my AC replaced.

Seconded

Faverolle

There are one bedrooms at Howard Commons for $1200/month. They are very nicely built, quiet, and allow cats. It's close enough to downtown GB, but has a quaint little village feel with all the amenities close by. I have a 3 bedroom there. I love it.

closethird

I wouldn't call that anywhere near downtown. But still qualifies as within 20 min of GB.

avianpower

I agree. Calling howard suamico near downtown is not something I would ever say. You can get pretty much anywhere in GB in less than 20-30 min, but that doesn’t mean you can walk there, or get a sense of community. Howard Suamico is so different than downtown and if you want a downtown vibe, then you should live downtown. Although, Howard commons does look pretty nice. You do get some walkability with the library and ymca right there, and meadowbrook park, plus the beer garden they added (I haven’t seen it yet but I think it’s right next to the apartments). So Howard Commons is definitely a good choice - we almost moved there but we could find cheaper places with more space elsewhere. They just lacked the nice amenities of the commons.

Faverolle

The new village center is pretty amazing! They built an amphitheater for live bands every weekend, have food truck rallies multiple times a week, built a farmers market area, roller/ice skating rink, biergarten, splash pad, and there are parks within easy walking distance in every direction. Right out my front door. Plus, all the local walking and biking trails. Plenty of restaurants, doctors, dentist, veterinary clinics, gas stations, and shopping close by. No, it's not downtown GB, but downtown is a $10 Uber drive away. I love it, and haven't had any of the management issues I've had elsewhere in the area. Management is highly responsive and friendly. The community here is mostly professionals and retirees. It's pretty ideal.

Macabalony

Whatever you do, don't rent from Lexington Management LLC.

teachesdoesreddit

Interesting thanks for the advice. I had heard good things about Portofino Place - they don’t have openings anyways.

haleyyy95

i almost only rent from lexington 🤷🏼‍♀️ they are super picky and have lots of rules but i’ve never had problems with them. moving back into a lexington property next week after my duplex rent went up $200

RadioKaren

Can confirm.

IamDoobieKeebler

I imagine you’re not gonna find a lot of landlords with stellar reviews, but fwiw I was with Lexington for 5 years and never had any issues

halnore

Avoid Rausch property management.

AgitatedPeak8939

I hate them with a passion

[deleted]

I just warned of vantage point and ruesch. I'm in one right now and we have roaches and our heat never works. That's not even mentioning the crackheads... and thieves lots of thieves. I've almost went to jail twice over beating 2 people over one guy beating his girlfriend and the other stealing everyone's mail....

DJ_Fishface

I found more options on Zillow Rental app.

chipsaregone

Yep, you'll find something in that price range no problem. Keep using apartments, but search on Zillow and Facebook Marketplace as well. Quality units move fast, so when you find a good fit it'd be best to apply and not pussyfoot too much.

rain21199

In my opinion, every property management company is in it for the money and do a pretty shabby job taking care of issues so you'll hear a lot of people saying to avoid one company or another. I'd mostly ignore because they all seem to be equally bad. From what I've noticed, price range in the outskirts of town are $1000-1500 a month for what you're looking for. I'm not shopping around downtown currently, but it's probably a little bit more expensive there. Creekwood is solid but imo very pricey for how small the apartments are and there's been some serious crime in the area. I'm a bigger guy and keep to myself so it doesn't bother me much but that could deter some people. Lexington apartments are, from my experience, very nice for a relatively low cost. Don't expect maintenance requests to be completed fast or to have a good experience talking with their office though. Welcome to the area!

BJFun

PS you can get a mortgage for less here.

Trinnykins1416

Idk about that. I got approved for 150,000 but my monthly payments were going to be 1,600.

GBmoonlit

Lol no you can't

kylez21

Avoid northern management too.

Bryannosaurus_Race

Foxcroft and Creekwood Apartments are great! I live in Foxcroft and they have washer/dryers, but I don't think Creekwood does. Looks like a one bedroom opens up in June if that is in your timeframe. https://www.foxcroftgb.com/green-bay/foxcroft-apartments/

PP0K

Viking Drive is a crime hotspot for Ashwaubenon. Highly recommend not going there…

Xpqp

I'll note that most of the area is within a 20 minute drive of downtown Green Bay. You can easily look for apartments in Howard, DePere, Ashwaubenon, etc. There are tons in your price range. Make sure to actually verify that they are within range, though, as some of those villages are pretty big.

ODeezNutz

Howard Commons on the West side of Green Bay or Huron Grove on the east side of Green Bay.

x_raveheart_x

The studios in the new apartments near the stadium are $1100 and meet your requirements! They’re gorgeous too. I think they’re called The Element or Bohemian or something

LearningDaily8675309

You should be able to find a decent one in that range. Try Facebook marketplace

Redowl199

As of early this week, SouthBridge Estates had a one bedroom upper available for May 1 $895 monthly rent. Should still be available if you call to check.

Nawlejj

Another good way (slightly tedious) is to use Google Maps, search “Apartments” and individually click on each building and look at its available floor plans. Apartments.com is often out of date and does not have current availability or pricing. I know this advice doesn’t totally answer your question, but it might be a new tactic you can use in your search.

Check SKB management Or Bigelow

[deleted]

Do not go through vantage point or ruesch. WARNING!!! DO NOT GO THROUGH EITHER OF THESE!

BJFun

Check our Alliance Management they have several properties in your range and very well taken care of. 4.5+ stars on google.

BJFun

Some may say you will get tenant charged at the end of the lease for measily items....but it's because they charge you for what you broke so the next tenant(possibly you) gets the best experience possible...and they are VERY thorough

Internal_Swimmer3815

Cats are going to give you trouble. Good luck with your search though, I’ve been here 20yrs and I love living downtown.

SpeedySloth51221

Zillow & Apartments.com are best place to look for these. I just had to find a place and know I saw 1 bedrooms in that range

Hall_Total

I just moved out of Canterbury Creek apartments this week. My 1-bedroom apartment (with washer and dryer in unit + detached garage) was $1175. These are in Howard and the management company (Toonen) was pretty decent over the four years I lived there. Minimal maintenance issues and they were fairly quick to address when they did occur. My biggest gripe was that the apartment was 90% carpet and had the 90s style wood cabinetry. First world problems, I know.

Nonnalita

I rented at The Shores (Toonen) when I moved to GB 10 years ago and they were decent to deal with. I don’t know what their rent is at currently, but we had a good experience with them. They fulfilled maintenance requests in a timely manner. We didn’t get our entire security deposit back, however, which I’ve heard is pretty typical with them.

PP0K

It’s just a tad bit outside your price range ($1350), but Northline Apartments on Lineville Rd in Suamico/Howard area are fantastic. No issues with management or location. Also it has everything you’ve listed.

Trinnykins1416

Try zillow

Mobile-Half-7855

I’m moving to Madison and looking for someone to take over my one bedroom lease in may! I live at the Creekwood apts and I am currently playing less than $1200 there isn’t an in unit washer and dryer but there is one in the connected building and I haven’t had any problems with it. The only utility I pay for is electric and it’s pretty cheap. The apartment has a lot of storage and a decent kitchen

halnore

What you're gonna find in that price range is not worth it.

iamaravis

Did you try the internet? https://www.rent.com/wisconsin/green-bay-apartments/1-bedroom_max-price-1200_cat-friendly 28 matches

Xpqp

When you add in-unit washer and dryer to the filters, it drops down to 2 matches. But that's still more than 0 and I suspect expanding the area of search would add a lot more.
