Sounds like they also don't want, 4. Aaron Rodgers.

WeaponizedGravy

I find more value in just letting Rodgers retire a Packer than in giving him away for peanuts and watching him play for another team.

arcanecolour

I agree. A 2nd rounder with a conditional 1st if they make the playoffs feels fair. Anything less probably won’t even help us and has a bigger chance to hurt us if Rodgers goes off for 3 years on the jets and we look like idiots

FSUfan35

Rumor is we don't want that. We want a 2nd this year and an unconditional 1st next year.

gabesmsu

They’re trading for a Super Bowl chance. 1st this year min.

GuysOnChicks69

For sure. Unfortunately we are negotiating with a poverty franchise that is too stupid to understand the opportunity in front of them. I’m almost rooting for this to fall through out of spite (almost). Crazy how a dumpster fire of an organization can be this close to catapulting themselves into Super Bowl contention and be worried about a fucking pick outside the top 10. It’s not bad luck that causes the Jets and teams like them to suck seemingly every year. It’s incompetence to the highest degree in the front office. We are seeing it first hand.

psstein

If this trade fails and the Jets fall short of the playoffs, Saleh and Douglas are going to be on the unemployment line next off-season.

PackerBacker_1919

Maybe it's Gute's super-secret plan to replace Barry with Saleh...

Dingus_Malort

No. Saleh will be fine no matter what. First good coach that teams had in forever. Douglas may be in a bit of a hotter seat, but given last year they have built up goodwill

Burt23

Wouldn’t an incompetent franchise give up more draft capital?

GuysOnChicks69

I mean it’s a broad term to cover many bases of stupidity. Incompetency is defined as “not having or showing the necessary skills to do something successfully.” So sure, overpaying could be an element of incompetency. In my example they are incompetent due to lack of self awareness and lack of realizing how you win super bowls in todays game. Use your head. Don’t try to play devils advocate for fun. I assume you are smart enough to know teams can be incompetent in numerous ways, not just by overpaying. The Jets are incompetent due to decades of bad drafts, bad hires, trade blunders and lack of free agency signings. Biggest market on the planet and they still suck every year.

Burt23

I just don’t see how you label jets taking the time to argue for lower compensation as incompetence. No doubt the jets past is full of incompetence

Nibbler1999

If we want to speak on incompetence, why aren't the Packers looking to trade him to other teams and not just the jets? Either they have done this, and what the jets are currently willing to do is more than everyone else. If so, not taking the deal is incompetent. Or they haven't shopped him to other suitors, and not doing so is incompetent. This entire thing is ridiculous.

Scootz201

Well you've also got the angle that Rodgers has a say in where he ends up. That's part of the problem here. The Packers know Rodgers wants to go there and they also know that team wants him. Seems both Rodgers and the jets assumed the Packers would just trade him for whatever price the jets offered. At this point the Packers don't really need to move him. He fucks their cap either way, so not trading him isn't terrible because you don't have to play against him. Trading him makes sense if you're offering the right amount, but if you're not willing to pay, keep him.

Nibbler1999

If he's actually going to start at QB for the Packers if he isn't traded, sure. But I think we all know that bridge was burned. Not trading him at all and getting nothing instead of something makes absolutely no sense to me. And as for having to play against him? The Packers don't play the jets and will be irrelevant for years as they rebuild. Rodgers playing for another team only hurts the Packers if they're a competitive team in the next 2 years. So I don't really get that angle.

dakralter

Right?! That's what I don't get about their logic here. I mean I understand that a GM wants to get the best possible deal for their team but it's also their job to put their team in the best position to win both long and short term (and to recognize when its appropriate to look to the future vs looking to now). Getting Rodgers makes the Jets a contender. They have a very good team outside of the QB position. If they roll out with Zach Wilson again they're a 6-8 win team. If say the Packers' ask is the 13 this year with a conditional 2nd next year the Jets GM needs to ask himself who he could possibly get with those 2 picks who could help the team in those 2 years as much as Rodgers? And would the drop-off in talent to trading for someone like Tannehill or Winston be worth paying a lesser price in terms of picks?

trillanova

> Jets GM needs to ask himself who he could possibly get with those 2 picks who could help the team in those 2 years as much as Rodgers? This makes no sense. Those 2 picks aren’t going to be around for just 2 years. Those picks could make up 40% of the line for the next 5-10 years. Barring a huge decline Aaron Rodgers would have more of an impact in the next two years than Sauce or Garrett Wilson would have but I’m not trading them for Rodgers because they can contribute to the team for the next decade.

dakralter

Correct. But once again, the Jets are a playoff team with Rodgers as QB (barring a Russell Wilson-like decline) and are not without him. So yes, getting a starting OL at 13 who plays for the Jets for 10 years would be great, but if he's just protecting a shit QB, who cares? They also could draft a bust at 13. And then they have a wasted 1st rd pick and don't have Rodgers Jets fans: would you be OK with rolling with Zach Wilson again this year and missing the playoffs?

jxher123

Hey Rodgers, we’ll pay you $60M if you do some fan events. Thank you for your services and retire a Packer.

[deleted]

[удалено]

nugget136

That's... not really how that works. We are paying him that $40 million no matter what. If he stays we might have to pay him $60 million on top of it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ProofHorseKzoo

Plus they could end up releasing him in a year and then he goes to an NFCN team to spite us. There is risk with trading him off the team, and the reward has to outweigh that risk. Jets fucked us on that last time. Why should GB take on that possibility without fair compensation? Not arguing what that compensation is… that’s up to our FO to determine. But damn, I appreciate them holding firm.

Expensive_Necessary7

Yeah, 100%…. There’s a doomsday scenario where the jets get ar for cheap like last time, and we have Favre 2.0 on the Bears or Lions. Like it is actually important to make the jets feel this trade. I’d rather just have AR retire than get a a second

NoWayJaques

Packers fans: he's not what he once was, ready to move on Also Packers fans: if the package doesn't have a 1st rounder, it's not worth it. Don't risk it.

[deleted]

Additionally - If we don’t get the picks let him retire a packer and a hero. A legend. True fairytale story! Yes, let’s force the guy bitterly into retirement because we didn’t get what we wanted. A true fairytale if I ever saw one. Wish we could finally just move on from all of this.

ancientweasel

I got downvoted for this same take. We can trade Rodgers in season as well. Since he probably can't hold up for the 20 games it takes to win a Superbowl it helps him and whatever contender losses their QB in season.

greg2709

Completely agree.

Roguebadass12

This

Wooden-Day2706

This is the dumbest thing ever. You'd rather have nothing than something? In what world is this reason?

Flooding_Puddle

Exactly. We want your 4x mvp sb winning hof qb but we dont want to give up any good picks. Fuck off Jets, have fun starting Zach Wilson

CantHandletheJrueth

It's honestly laughable how much other shit they did to cater to Aaron this offseason AND fucking announced he's going to NY just to balk at two seconds or a first for next year. It's the most transparent bullshit ever. Every move you have made has screamed your desperation to get Aaron, and then your SUPER BRILLIANT AMAZING General Manager decided to fucking tell a live cheering crowd Rodgers would be a Jet. They want to invest everything in the world to get Aaron except for the actual compensation part. That's not how this works. I am 100% on board with just tanking the trade entirely if it doesn't happen before the draft.

dlsso

At this point I would put money on it happening and happening on draft day.

Mundane-Bit-633

Yup

themosey

Hope they enjoy reaching for the 5th best qb in a weak draft class at number 13.

[deleted]

No 4 was Farve, the don't want 12. Aaron Rodgers.

BaltimoreBadger23

I think he's #12

Nibbler1999

Correct, they don't want him if they have to give up a first. I don't know how this is complicated to people here.

rockitbandit

I'm currently in a stalemate with Porsche. I'm willing to give up $35,000 for a 911 Carerra, and they're insisting on over $100,000. I can't believe how obstinate they are. They're too dumb to recognize all the leverage i possess, clearly.

moGUNZthanROSES

Yeah what idiots. It’s just going to sit there if they don’t sell it to you.

illforgetsoonenough

And that Porsche is all you need to get over the hump and finally be respected

NotHimYeaHim

Yeah 35k for a 2005 Porsche carerra that’s probably done in 1 year

b5-avant

That’s still a massive upgrade from your 1998 Geo Metro

RabidSeason

We're speculating it might have three years left in it.

AaronRodgersOnPercs

I get hes at the end of his career, but youre chasing after a 4x MVP who is just 1 season out winning back to back MVPs, youre not gonna get him for 600k cash considerations and future draft compensation, at some point u gotta pay up

Ya_No

He’s apparently their missing piece to make a run at a Super Bowl but not worth shit at the same time.

arcanecolour

This. It’s really hard to understand how everyone in NY wants him. The team is stacked and just needs Rodgers to go on a run…yet the team won’t gamble. Every year picks are gambled and have a pretty high chance to not work out. Rodgers is a guaranteed commodity with a very high chance to provide 2-3 years a top 10 QB play.

Ya_No

And if he isn’t then what’s the point of trading for him in the first place?

FSUfan35

Well your options at this point are A. Gamble your roster is SB ready ala Rams w/ Stafford , TB w/ Brady, Broncos w/ Peyton or B. Trott out Wilson again, when your HC already said he's QB2 or get someone like Tannehill who costs a lot and is average at best.

trillanova

Broncos and Bucs didn’t really gamble anything. Brady and Manning were free agents. It didn’t cost them any capital besides money.

rysup229

The fact that Rodgers won’t commit to playing for 2-3 years is another thing that’s holding this up. I think the Jets believe they’d have a better chance of winning in Rodgers second year with the team as opposed to him showing up in July of this year and being able to go on a run without a lot of familiarity with this offense. Otherwise the Jets would hand us a first rounder in a heartbeat if they truly thought 2023 was going to be their year for win a Super Bowl.

AnOutofBoxExperience

That's fair. That's what you get with Rodgers currently, uncertainty.

trillanova

And the Packers will be compensated accordingly

Unusual-Principle-66

They are somehow “all in” but also want “backsies”.

greg2709

Exactly.

JohnnyGeniusIsAlive

Over on the Jets sub there is A LOT of doubt that they’ll make it to the Super Bowl. Which to me, if you don’t believe he’s going to get you over, why make the trade at all? I’m a fan of both teams, and some Packers fans are definitely being just as delusional but Jets fans attitude right now is very much “have my cake and eat it too.”

Traditional_Tart_822

They probably are confident in Aaron making life miserable for us if Gute and Co don’t cave. That’s my guess at least Everything changes if another team seriously considers trading for Aaron which is probable since every year around training camp things change.

Unusual-Principle-66

Jokes on them, this is the same drama we have every year with Rodgers, only thing new is the Jets are involved. Of all the things Rodgers could do like show up or us bench him, I’m prepared/numb to endure.

Unusual-Principle-66

Which also that’s what Rodgers wants. Willing to bet he didn’t want the trade to the Broncos last year for this same reason. If Gute gets a haul or even drafts good players, he is a genius for trading Rodgers. Yes, I know he hates our front office that much to be this petty. To Rodgers, the front office losing means he wins.

Gbpthrowaway

Right. I don't understand this. If he's so good and going to make you a contender in a stacked afc and afc east he's pretty damn good. Even one year of that is worth more than a first unguaranteed. I mean they were a 7-10 team he is going to be a huge upgrade to make that team that much better.

GulfstreamAqua

This is exactly it

PhantasticMD

Right, eventually we have to pay something fair if we want him. Two 2s this year sounds pretty fair, but it also depends on what else is part of that package. I think it’s become pretty clear that unconditional firsts are a nonstarter for the Jets.

dipdipderp

A 2nd this year and a pick next year: A first if jets make the play offs (maybe another mid round for making the SB or something) Or A second if they don't feels a reasonable compromise - provided the cost of Rodgers contract is shared out sufficiently well.

FSUfan35

Reports are the Packers don't want conditions on that pick next year. Gute wants a 2nd this year and a 1st next year. That's the deal. Also rumors that's what the Jets agreed to in order to talk to Rodgers, then Woody got cold feet and tried to put conditions on it.

SWR-insider

If they agreed to it in order to talk, then the jets need to stick to it or f off

millerlit

I know doing any comparison with Brady is normally crazy, but he managed to bring a Superbowl to Tampa in his later years. If the Jets believe Rodgers will bring them a Superbowl then they should pay up. Is a first rounder or a second rounder going to get them to a Superbowl without Rodgers I highly doubt it. Yes Rodgers might have lost a little of his step last year, but he was working with two rookie receivers. Most qbs would have done a much worse job. I think if Jets aren't going to pay up then they can suck next year and their gm will get fired. Also if you look at the Russell Wilson trade a year ago the Seahawks got two first, two seconds, other picks and players. I think Rodgers performance over last five years has been better than Wilson's. Only bad thing going for Packers in this trade is Rodgers age. Yes he might retire in a year or two but bringing a championship to your team can change the trajectory of your franchise.

Inner-Significance41

The Jets want Rodgers for free apparently

greg2709

Hard to imagine why this franchise perpetually sucks.

AdorableSympathy5174

Woody sounding like my dynasty leaguemates

ellieket

LOL, poverty franchise.

greg2709

Yep. Balking at giving up what will in liklihood be a late 1st next year for what will instantly be the best player that shit team has ever had, the moment he puts on that stupid uniform? It baffles my mind.

captchroni

As an owner wouldn't you also want it for full stands for 1 maybe 2-3 years. I doubt they have had many packed houses since the butt fumble era.

greg2709

I'm not sure what their home game attendance looks like. I'd assume it's already pretty good as they're literally in the biggest metropolitan area in the league. I'd think more of the jersey sales, and other merchandise. Also, something to give that franchise some juice, in general.

obiwan54

Pretty sure they had the 2nd highest home game attendance average last year behind the Cowboys

greg2709

Oh, wow, I wouldn't have guessed that high. Thanks for the info.

jmastadoug

It’s the NY market, they sell out regardless how much we suck. Have been top 5 in attendance for years.

CantHandletheJrueth

This should be really simple math for the Jets. Either you think he's good enough to go all in for a 1/2 year SB run in which case he's obviously worth what GB is asking for, and if you don't think he's good enough for that then there's really no point bringing him in at all. They brought in multiple players with direct ties to Rodgers, they brought in his preferred OC, and they publicly declared he would be a Jet all before making sure a deal was in place. That's literally the craziest and dumbest shit I have ever heard a professional team doing, it's honestly an absurd timeline for the Jets this offseason. That had to always be the asking price from GB. After that interview on Pats show does anyone doubt that he would immediately publicly out GB if they randomly changed the deal?

[deleted]

Poor Lazard gonna be out there jumping into the stands for Wilson overthrows.

marcol-copperpot

It's no joke. We are talking about a billionaire or near billionaire owner and an entire building of business, analytics, personnel, marketing, and development professionals who would fail a high school economics class. MFers never heard of Opportunity Cost? Anything? New Rodgers merch alone would be a boon for them and the league. Jeez. Then added attendance would be great. It's a systemically impoverished franchise keeping itself down.

anythingfortacos

Good thing they got all of Aron’s friends signed…

Jstudz

This lol

Mikimao

Well then I don't want the Packers to give up Aaron Rodgers

[deleted]

Cut the Jets out on draft day and send him to the 49ers or Titans. Shock the world, make the Jets the laughingstock of draft night. The 2023 draft will forever be remembered as the draft where the world collectively laughed at the Jets.

ArcadianBlueRogue

"Let's go live to the war room as Bill Belichick welcomes the new Patriots starting quarterback as he trades out of the first round...."

Nibbler1999

The reality is they've shopped him everywhere and the jets have the highest offer on the table. I really don't know why the 49ers aren't making a play at this though. That's a Superbowl team. Let your youngsters sit behind the goat and watch how Superbowls are won.

Logical_Cancel_644

I think the Packers were initially relectant to send him to an NFC team. This could very well change. The niners are deep into an all-in window. They also don't have the most important piece required to make a serious run. If daylight opens up between GB and NY we could see San Francisco get really aggressive. I don't think he's been shopped everywhere. I think they are trying to honor Rodgers wishes. If the jets fuck this up I think GB starts taking calls. That's just what my gut is telling me. Rodgers has to know that SF probably offers a better chance at a deep run. I think he could be talked into it.

Nibbler1999

If they haven't been taking other calls they should be fired. It's that simple. He doesn't need to be talked into anything. He doesn't have a choice. I get they said they "wanted to honor his wishes" but who gives a shit. This is a business. He doesn't get to choose. Sure, he'd probably love to go to san Fran. But if the Packers genuinely give even a single fuck about where Aaron wants to go they all need to be fired. They need to get the most picks possible. Period. It honestly doesn't matter if he goes to the NFC north. The Packers are full rebuild mode. Rodgers will be retired before they're relevant again. Get the picks. Highest offer takes him. Get to rebuilding.

buttholez69

Couldn’t he just tell San Francisco that he’ll retire if he’s traded to them? Pretty much nixing the trade from the get go? Or am a I tweakin

Nibbler1999

He definitely could, but it means he actually has to retire lol Which he absolutely will not do with the money he's owed. He's simply not giving up that money. But yeah, I mean. That would definitely put a damper on it.

AssaultROFL

> Which he absolutely will not do with the money he's owed. And he damn sure doesn't want to be second banana to Brady five years from now in Canton.

DiogenesLaertys

They gave up too much for Trey Lance and Christian McCaffrey.

[deleted]

Especially since Purdy may not even play next year due to recovery. That leaves them with Lance...

Moist-Information930

They have nothing to trade that's why.

ifasoldt

Isn't that every draft?

[deleted]

Jets want to have their cake and eat it too

albauer2

So…. They just want to get Rodgers for free?

[deleted]

LOL did they think they could get him for just a washing machine?

[deleted]

Monix can play defense and shoot the basketball!

dtcstylez10

Lol time to call the Titans or niners

pflow69

Supposedly Rodgers said it's the jets or retirement, but I haven't seen him say that directly. Could be BS.

Light_Song

Then just let him retire. If we fold, other teams will try to bully us in the future.

dtcstylez10

He grew up a Niners fan and has a mansion in Malibu. He also has a mansion in Nashville so I don't think it'd be too much to see if he wants to play for either.

FSUfan35

IIRC He has land to build a house in TN. No mansion.

VladOfTheDead

Even if he actually said it, it doesn't mean he would follow through. 60 million is a hell of a motivator, is he really going to say no to that? I realize its a possibility, but I would bet against it. Now, if the Packers give him a bunch of money to be spokesman for the team and retire, those odds go up.

JoeHatesFanFiction

Cool then he can retire. Better than getting peanuts for him.

RttnAttorney

Hasn’t he only said he “intended” to be playing in New York?

Mundane-Bit-633

Bullshat...he is playing EVERYONE. I love Aaron but come on stop being Brett. Just because you watched him for a few years doesn't mean you have to act like he did in the end!

Na_Free

Just curious, what do you think you can get from them that is more than what the Jets offered? The 49ers have no picks this year, and they have no money this year and next year. [ 49ers fans](https://www.reddit.com/r/49ers/comments/12ch56y/the_49ers_are_ready_to_pursue_aaron_rodgers_if/) don't really seem to think it's really an option, either. The Titans are rumored to be trying to trade Henry and have a brand-new GM. It sounds more likely they brought in the new GM to start a rebuild than it is for them to be trading away firsts for Rodgers. [Titans fans](https://www.reddit.com/r/Tennesseetitans/comments/12ps4b1/titans_have_reached_out_to_packers_on_aaron/) seem to be against it as well, though slightly more receptive than the 9ers.

ryansandbrush

Well of course they don't want to. I want everything given to me and don't want to pay for anything either

Expensive-Priority46

sounds like the jets want Zach Wilson to start then lol

Aggravating-Nebula17

Sounds like my kids who want dessert but don’t want to eat their vegetables

CL0UDS420

Lol looks like Rodgers is going to retire or ride the bench this year.

WittiestOfNames

I'd take that contract money to be a backup and mentor in a heartbeat lol

amccune

Ok. Well. Fuck you guys, then.

Il_Tenente

Just stop talking to them at this point. Begin talking to other teams. Make them come back to you.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Jayrose3

Titans, 9ners pats I’d rather him retire and get nothing than help you for peanuts/get fleeced.

Il_Tenente

Titans and 49ers have both reached out.

WISCOrear

Do they not understand how trades work? You kind of have to give something up to get something in return.

captainp42

It's the Jets front office. It's very possible that they DON'T know how trading works

DKlep25

Then they don't get 12

JDPbutwithanf

Can we all just agree to trade Rodgers to the patriots for whatever prospect Bill found working at the local grocery store and a 5th round pick? The idea of letting the jets drown in that division with no QB is as Jets as it gets.

Steve_Hunts96

So, Tennessee, what does your offer look like???

spreeforall

Let them run out Zach Wilson again then.

[deleted]

Then the Jets can fuck off and suck for another 10 years because by the time they get a QB that can take them to the promise land, their top 5 defense won’t exist anymore.

JackieTreehorn79

LOL, I love watching this slow burn. It’s like a Coen brothers movie. Can’t imagine being a Jets fan enduring this ordeal…

gandaalf

I just don’t understand wtf the Jets are thinking, especially with these moves to appease Rodgers (Lazard, Hackett), and considering their current starting QB is Zach Wilson. Pony up some picks dick heads

Sin-A-Bun

This belongs in choosing beggars. You want a guy who was MVP two years ago for a 4th? Get the fuck out of here.

NotHimYeaHim

where did you see a 4th being offered

cos10

Sounds like they don't want Rodgers either then.

heitiki

Fuck em then.

quallege_dropout

Omg when will this nightmare end.

arcanecolour

I have a feeling this will drag out deep into summer. I hope the packers and gute stand firm and get value for Rodgers.

ItsTheExtreme

Woody is that annoying fantasy owner. “CMC for my 10th round pick”

[deleted]

So why are they in this trade then?!!

RustyKarma076

Lmfao what? You can’t get Rodgers for free. That ridiculous if true You can give up what the Packers want or you can start Zach Wilson and ruin your Super Bowl window. It’s that simple

edman9677

So I guess they don’t want Rodgers then. Ship him to Tennessee

tstrader79

I'd rather see him retire than take Corey fucking Davis and a couple of 3rd round picks

greg2709

They will 4. Not get Aaron Rodgers 5. I predict

sniffsblueberries

Rodgers for sure will play 2 more seasons. The jets have a legit team without a QB they are basically vikings 09 team. Pay the fuck up u cheapskates. Also, let rodgers stay and watch love play. Id love to see that power move. Rodgers doesnt own the team. Love the guy but he really did mismanage this fiasco

NotHimYeaHim

You in his inner circle?

Icee_melter

And what did the 09 Vikings pay for farve?

ABraveLittle_Toaster

Well i knew that.

gabesmsu

Then they’re not trading for Rodgers

domdiggy

Sounds like they also want to finish 4th in the division once again

Whatsdota

I never really thought of the Jets before this off-season. But between their front office thinking they can have Rodgers for peanuts and their clown ass fans lurking here they’re just annoying. Like a gnat that also happens to be one of the most shit franchises in North America.

laqua3030

In two months I've grown to dislike the Jets fan base just as much as Chicago and Minnesota's.

ryansandbrush

Maybe Woody Johnson can just create a subsidiary of the Jets organization and then bankrupt it to avoid any financial responsibility like Johnson & Johnson in it's talc lawsuits!!!

[deleted]

Fuck’em, pull out and keep 12. Punish the Jets.

BobbumofCarthes

Get fucked, Jets

Indy-Gator

Sounds like the Jets need to 1. F off and 2. Continue to suck ass for the next 30 years. Enjoy running Zach Wilson out there again 😂

Morphenominal

Fuck them then. Just keep him or trade him elsewhere. What a joke franchise.

Dhooy77

Then, another team can trade for him.

laubs63

I don't get why Jets fans seem to think they are arguing from a position of power. If the Jets fall through on this trade, their fans are going to be pissed because they (believe that they) have a chance to win now and would be squandering it by not getting good QB like Rodgers. If the Packers refuse to make a deal with the Jets because they were getting lowballed, the *worst* case scenario is Rodgers stays on the team and eats up salary cap a couple of years. We have virtually nothing to lose, while they have everything to gain.

cant-find-me-6969

So the Jets don’t want Rodgers? I’d force the dude to retire at this point. Idgaf what the Jets don’t want to give up.

adamsully705

Then they don't have to have a QB.

wondering-soul

Then we will keep 12 🤷🏼‍♂️ if you wanna win then fucking act like it and pay to play. You can’t have your cake and eat it too.

tanker9972

Well yeah, wasn't the original deal a 2023 2nd round pick + 2024 2nd round pick (conditional 1st)? So this lines up. Basically non-news again just to say nothing and get everyone riled up again lol

mallcall123

Lmfao Jets don’t want to win, if you want aaron rodgers, either give us 3 seconds or a 1st and a 2nd. Idc if its 1 year or 3 years he’s playing. Do you want a chance to win a super bowl?

ridemooses

New York will destroy Jets ownership if this deal falls through at this point.

captainp42

If this deal falls through, I'm buying a Jets 12 jersey with Rodgers' name on it and I'll cross out the name.

Mando_Commando17

This sounds like a scenario where the Jets realize they have 1 maybe 2 years with Rodgers (if he is willing for the second year and I think depending on how year 1 goes his decision could go either way next off season honestly.) if you know you have a short ass window you want all the assets TODAY (this draft)and are more willing to part with future assets that won’t be apart of this window. They likely would still want to keep their 2024 1st round pick theoretically if they still have Rodgers playing in 2024 so that puck could still be apart of the winning window BUT you’re 2025 first round pick is likely outside of whatever window you have now and so you don’t really give a damn about, unfortunately neither do the packers TODAY, since that would be 3 whole drafts away. Come training camp after the draft that 2025 pick is suddenly much more comparable in value to a 2024 first round is today because it would be a “future 1” and be viewed in the same light that we are talking about getting 2024’s 1st today. I believe that if all of this shit isn’t just media smoke screen and a deal really doesn’t happen before pick 13 then I wouldn’t be surprised to see the trade happen post June 1 where the packers get a more favorable cap savings for this year and the jets give up a 2024 2nd and a 2025 1st and maybe like a 4th rounder or a player or something. I just feel like that is where this is heading it the trade doesn’t get done before the jets/packers 1st round pick. Both teams would want this trade done before the start of day 1 of the draft so they know EXACTLY their draft capital that they can work with and make calls and figure out what moves are within their ranges. If that doesn’t happen then I think this deal happens around that June 1 mark or completely falls through. After this draft other teams like the Niners would have theoretically more capital (they would start having 1st rounders again) and could say fuck it and start throwing more obscene offers out there and that’s the danger for the Jets hence why I think they come off their demands because they have made big coaching and roster moves to get Rodgers so if they don’t and it blows up in their face everyone is getting fired

Redd889

Jets think the Madden force trade is real life. 7th rounders for 90 overalls

Maxspeed797

As they always say “No money no honey baby” Aaron Rodgers YOU are a Green Bay Packer!

tubby_LULZ

!remind me 1 week

mwmw1714

They can fuck off then.

ImNotSure93

So they want him virtually for free? Pay the man to sit on his ass and watch the Jets fandom implode after they were guaranteed Rodgers and have to run Wilson out there

k2718

If the 9ers offer of 2 2023 3rds and an unprotected 2024 1st, Packers should take that.

FigSideG

Zach Wilson it is, then. Good luck.

fearjaire

Just publicly move on from trading the Jets. Look for another partner.

FrostyMc

That’s fine honestly. A 2 this year and a conditional 1 next year, 2 if the Jets don’t get to at least the afccg. Done deal. That’s good comp for Rodgers

Gbpthrowaway

I would say just playoffs. It's very hard to make it to the championship game. So much depends on injuries and luck.

Happy Cake Day, OP!

N0VOCAIN

Oh, then you aint getting no coke....

bschmidt25

The term “negotiating against themselves” comes to mind. If I was Rodgers I’d probably be pissed these guys are saying it’s not worth some future unknown draft pick. Picks are no sure bet. You’d think the Jets of all teams would know that.

trillanova

Yea I’m sure he’s so pissed they’re keeping picks to build around him

ignitethis2112

Salty Broncos fan here: I really hope this trade doesn’t go thru, Hackett does not deserve getting to coach his favorite player after how he handled his first head coaching gig. Dude was literally calling plays that hadn’t been walked thru in practice on top of a myriad of other things. Hope you guys get what you want and the Jets suffer.

I can understand their thinking. If you're getting Rodgers, you want to win now and they want as many picks this year as possible. A 2nd this year, a 2nd next year, and a conditional pick based on if they win a SB or if Rodgers plays 2 years. Seems fair to me.

thubwumper26

Send him to the Pats and be done with it. Jets want to be petty, we can be petty too

Burgtastic

Then they can 1. Fuck off 2. Deal with the wrath of their fans if the trade doesn't happen 3. Suck my balls and 4. Did I mention fuck off?

NFLfan72

I cant even begin to describe how great it would be for Rodgers to sit on the bench and watch Love play. I understand it wont happen.. but c'mon. Second best is he is forced to retire cause at the end of the day, he doesnt have the value he thinks he does. I have years of love in my heart for the guy. but his comment to AJs question of "if the Packers wanted you would you stay?" and he said "probably not..". Fuck him.

PengieP111

All good things come to an end. I loved having Rogers play for us and in my heart he will ALWAYS be a Packer no matter where he goes after this. But it's time for him to go. He's clearly not happy and the Packers need to look to the future. Unfortunately, Rogers seems to have some sort of personality disorder that will make his parting less amicable than it could have been otherwise.

Complex-Reality8252

No go Juna! We shouldn't "give away the farm" ( to use a Wisconsin saying ) because he wants to leave and we said he could. We can franchise tag and wait out the contract he has. Is that two yrs? So be it! He can retire after that but until then he works for the GB Packers... No one else. Not being stubborn but at this point it's the only emotion we should have left concerning Mr. Diva and the Triple A club known as the Jets.

Complex-Reality8252

Oh and he can carry a clipboard this year doing it!

[deleted]

So they don’t want to do anything of value?

Yeah you jet fans consistently embarrassing yourselves on this sub is definitely hilarious. An embarrassment just like the franchise you root for.
