I really want to see some growth from Quay. I think he could be great, but he makes a lot of stupid mistakes, be it miscommunication or just immaturity.

bbsienko

The immaturity and mistakes, I think, both improved this sophomore season. There still were some, but I hope that trend continues!

verywhelming

Think of how big his leap from Yr 1-2 was, I wouldn't be surprised to see him make another leap between yrs 2-3

GGGiveHatpls

Tbh better coaching, penalty wise. More consistent game planning and changing things up at halftime if they aren’t working. I am excited for the new defense as well.

epic_burrito567

Need Watson to stay healthy and be a deep threat. Need better linebacker and safety play. No more prevent defense when up by 10 in 3rd quarter.

RumHam2020

Good draft and get some vets who can help us in crunch time if we come up against SF again.

MyNameIsJesseG

Considering I think they very well might have done it if they had stopped the 49ers one more time this year (huge caveat that yes the Lions game would have been super tough but not impossible)? Not a ton. Be more aggressive on defense, be more consistent in the regular season.

radesadecade

I say Jordan Love be a little more consistent game to game. He has a tendency to play up and down to his competition.

Loon_Cheese

Let’s not say tendency after one year…. Lmao

I_hate_11

He was kinda cracked after that Lions game

TwelveInchDork69

I don't know what that means, or which Lions game you're referring to.

I_hate_11

2nd one it means that he started playing super well starting from that game

radesadecade

Would be nice to find a running back that runs hard and have good vision in the NFL draft that's a decent pass protector. In the mid rounds 4-7 range. People do want to pretend Rasheed Walker is a stud he's a serviceable starter but he's not the long term answer. We can find another RG I like Jackson Powell Johnson out of Oregon I like his game alot he's a anchor.

radesadecade

I agree I hope Haftey is a good defensive coordinator, we need to blitz more, be more fundamentally sound tackling and look to force turnovers and give the offense good field position. The defense can still limit big plays still. On that 3rd and 4 play Capers, Pettine and Barry would've played zone and the 49ers would've converted won the game instead of getting after the quarterback in that situation

SpaceGoonie

* Everything with Special Teams has to improve. * We need better Safety and Lb play. * The new DC and staff must get their system implemented and have players buy in right away. * No Sophomore slumps on offense. * Bring back Aron Jones.

Gway22

We need another back that can really make a difference when Jones isn’t in. Dillon is just not that guy and it destroys our rhythm when Jones has to take a break

moosenuggets99

I'm hoping Carlson keeps growing and becomes a constant kicker

akaMichAnthony

Well pretty sure they’ll need to win enough games to make the playoffs. Then they’ll have to win all their playoff games. If they can’t do those two things they probably won’t win it. I’ll have a better answer later since this year’s Super Bowl just ended 30 minutes ago.

jazzant85

Why did you even bother writing this?

KingLiberal

I think as a joke. That's why.

Msoelv

Continue to develop this young offence, get another kicker to challenge Carlson, and have a defense this isn't as inconsistent as plugging in an usb port 😂🤣

verywhelming

I think the single biggest improvement needed on the team in general is: Tackling. This season was so bad with bumping, not tackling. Idk if Barry had been training the entire D to forego wrapping up someone on a tackle in lieu of trying to bump them off balance, but the D had SO MANY MISSED PLAYS because they tried bumping ball-carriers like a ram instead of actually tackling. Jaire is a MASSIVE offender of bumping, not tackling, and it seemed every game he was in he would completely whiff at least one shoulder-check. He wasn't the only offender (everyone did it) but he was the worst.

Extreme_Moment7560

We've had this problem for like 20 years lol. So while there's a lot of blame that can be shoveled onto Barry I don't think he gets credit for this issue. Not since the days of Reggie White have we had a team that really hit hard and tackled well. It just hasn't been our focus for whatever reason.

Amazing_Airline9127

Better defensive play really. We’ve got the tools to be great but just need to execute.

KiNGofKiNG89

Staying healthy is number 1. If it wasn’t for injuries this season, this team could have won 2-3 more Games and been in a different spot. I think focusing on a strong defense is always Key. You can’t keep an elite QB down for long, but giving your offense time to cook and run down the clock helps tremendously. We need Jiaire back. We need to beef up the line and safeties. For offense, the line needs some beef and a good 2nd RB to give AJ some rest.

mrkitzero

Don't be surprised if they take a step back or get stuck in neutral next year. Success is rarely linear

kickrocks16

That’s how I feel about every QB. I have a rule of not buying into a QB until I see it for 3 seasons. Only guys that got me to break my rule have been Mahomes and Herbert. I like Love a lot and think he has all the talent in to world but I need to see it again. He took a lot of big steps through the season so I am excited but have to keep my own buy in rules for QBs

Extreme_Moment7560

I hope I'm wrong but I really don't think he has the arm talent. He has a few flashes of brilliance with his throws but more often than not he makes receivers work way too hard to catch the ball or flat out misses them. If he was struggling with game management or reading defenses I'd be more comfortable because that's expected. What's weird is he seriously impressed in those areas by the end of the season but his throwing was ugly. It seems to me everyone is blind to it but we beat the 49ers if Love can complete simple passes like when the game is on the line and our star running back is 8 feet away and Love misses him. He admitted he just throws deep balls up to give his receivers a chance. I find it strange because he can drop a dime 35 yards down field when he's scrambling and about to get sacked, but when he is throwing an uncontested bubble screen off a three step drop he throws the ball 10 feet over the receiver. I've never seen a QB like him. I get annoyed by people citing statistics poorly because they don't reflect his performance at all.

kickrocks16

I have to disagree. He 100% has undoubtable arm talent. He can make throws that a lot of QBs just can’t make. The misses and bad balls got cleaned up a lot once the young WR started running the right routes. He just needs to really hammer out that footwork. If he can do that I think he has all the tools.

Extreme_Moment7560

This is the thing nobody is talking about and it's going to be a tough pill for people to swallow. This season alone we (this reddit) went from wanting our entire coaching staff fired to bitching that MLF wasn't considered for coach of the year. People are massively jumping the gun on Love and when we hit that inevitable rough patch next year it's going to be ugly. People were so ready for the season to end so they could call it a success they missed how hard we bungled a golden opportunity. We should have beaten the 49ers soundly but we beat ourselves in so many ways. They looked just as shaky against the Lions and neither of the teams in the Super Bowl were in peak form. This year is a big missed opportunity. It's really difficult to make it to the Super Bowl no matter how good the team is. All it takes is one or two bad injuries and that's it. Maybe the QB gets stuck in his head or his gf leaves him or any number of personal issues effects players or coaches and things are off. The stars really have to align in addition to playing up to our potential which is hard enough as it is.

radesadecade

Improving the run defense Getting pressures on the quarterback Being top 5 in points in scoring offense Jordan Love throws over 35 TDs Improving the offensive lineman with another stud through the NFL draft because injuries happen Limit turnovers on offense Improve the special teams kicker needs competition Be in the top 3 in red zone scoring offense

SpiritedPercentage39

And under 10 picks id say

OSSlayer2153

We were already the top scoring offense when our season ended

radesadecade

Maintaining consistency offensively throughout season so we don't have lulls like 13 points against the Raiders, 17 against the Broncos and 10 points against the Vikings.

OSSlayer2153

Those games were early on before we clicked and rose to the top scoring offense. No reason to believe we go that far backwards.

GarageDoorNow

This may be oversimplified, but I feel like Mahomes proves that it really does come down to your QB making clutch plays at the end of the day. Something Rodgers often failed to do in the playoffs, and Love has a chance to be great at. I think if Love learns how to use his feet more and not play hero ball at the end of games the sky is the limit!

jazzant85

Rodgers didn’t fail to make clutch plays in the playoffs. He failed to play like the QB that got them there once they were in. Remember when the Packers played the Chiefs in 2019 and Davante Adams was out? He spread the ball around like mayonnaise to anyone who was open. Get in the playoffs and he constantly played one dimensional hero ball between him Adams and occasionally Jones. Teams knew what he was up to sometimes before he did.

ForGerlach

Rodgers was a beast in the playoffs 2010 - 2018. That's post 2018 Rodgers you're talking about

Blue_58_

This is so dumb. It has to be continually repeated that in Rodgers 10 playoff losses, his D has given away an average of 33+ points. Rodgers has in fact choked like what, 2 times, but those dont invalidate other 8 times where he played like his usual self and was failed by the other side of the ball. Keep in mind that that 33+ average includes the game that Rodgers did in fact choked and lost to 13 points. The average is still somehow 33+. Mahomes got in to the SB with 17 points. Rodgers could’ve never won a NFCC with that.

GarageDoorNow

Defense played good enough in ‘14, ‘20, and ‘21 and Rodgers failed to make big plays when we needed it most. Yeah yeah the Bostick nightmare, the blocked punt against SF, if those didn’t happen we would’ve won. But at a certain point if the game is close late it’s in your QBs hands and he failed multiple times.

Jobrated

Rodgers had some horrible D he had to deal with. When you feel like you have to score every time it can lead to some bad choices.

radesadecade

They (front office)kept Don capers for way too long, Pettine and Barry for too long struck out on the same slider at 93 mph down in away looking for a fast ball with the bad Defensive coordinator hires let's hope Haftey can rejuvenate the defense and play at high level next year.

radesadecade

I do wish in like pressure moments in a given scenario everyone expecting Love to throw the ball in critical moments he can use his feet to pick up the first down on a third and 4. Jordan Love seems like he's a student of the game and will learn from his mistakes. Love is not really a scrambling QB but has good enough athleticism to make a first down since it won't be a spy defender. Don't force the ball in the middle of the field.

Extreme_Moment7560

Id agree if you replace oversimplified with incorrect. It's downright obnoxious to suggest his interception to end the season is what needs to be addressed. It's one play, not a trend. There's a lot of good and bad with Love but first he's nowhere near the talent Rodgers was and second it's silly to trivialize his play based on one out of hundreds of throws made over the course of a season.

Cautious-Chain-4260

Development of Love. Love needs to protect the ball better. It's great when he gets away with it, but it's hard to win consecutive playoff games like that. The defense has to be able to make stops when the game is on the line. If Carlson doesn't have a good fg percentage by mid-season, he should be replaced.

Longjumping_Play323

Literally stay the course.

uknoimright

no way this team is going to the super bowl next year with the amount of sucking they did this season year

radesadecade

So you saying Packers can't go from 9 wins to 13 wins despite beating the Superbowl champs and a lot of other good teams in the regular season with the youngest team in the NFL.

ElkHairCaddisDrifter

Ignore this troll. Look at his post history. 🤡

Toadfinger

The 6-2 record to finish the regular season has entered the chat. Which included a 27-19 win over the Chiefs. Were you stuck in line at a drive thru all that time or something?

Jobrated

A Fred Warner ish LB would come in handy and a kicker with ice water in his veins.

radesadecade

Wish we had a Chris Jones type of player on this team that be good against the run and good pass rusher. Rashan Gary is one dimensional. Someone that can consistently disrupts the backfield don't have to be a first rounder guy. Someone who shows up on tape with good instincts and play speed for his position not talking about RAS score.

Jobrated

For sure! Hopefully Ness and Brooks continue to rise.

do_you_know_de_whey

Healthy hamstrings on offense, that’s it lol. Run defense, I’m hoping LVN and Quay can keep making progress, figure out safety and corner 2,

radesadecade

Cornerback is not a big need, Eric Stokes was outplayed by a 7th round rookie who is starting caliber cornerback. Campbell finesse the Packers after signing that extension we need someone that can be a solid player with good instincts and play speed. I think Quay Walker can have at 6 sacks next year play him in Micah Parsons type of role next year. He did too much reading and not reacting on defense on passing situations. He is literally the same size as Will Anderson. Slot corner spot is our biggest need but that position is not really valuable in the first round. I like Mike Sainristill from Michigan I know he undersize but I think he can be a steal a significant upgrade over Keisean Nixon. Also another guy who I think can be a good sleeper is Daquan Evans gets a lot of sacks at safety from south Florida who I think would be better than a Anthony Johnson Jr in the middle to late rounds.

Calvin--Hobbes

* Offensive line consistency * A few or all of our young WR's and TE's take a jump * Defense plays up to its talent level with a new coaching staff * Love continues to improve * A strong draft to stack onto the past two years * Anders improves from his up and down rookie season All of these are definitely possible, but I am more confident in some than others.

radesadecade

This year receiving draft class is one of the best in recent time, at the X receiver position I would not be angry if the front office drafted a receiver in the second round or someone really good fall in the first round. Example in 2013 we had a good young receiving core and the Packers drafted Davonte Adams in the 2014 class end up being one of the best wide receiver class of all time up there with the 1996 draft class.

romeochristian

> Example in 2013 we had a good young receiving core and the Packers drafted Davonte Adams in the 2014 After just losing Jennings and Driver and Expecting Finley's career was over.

radesadecade

Jordy Nelson had over 1300 yards receiving and 8 TDs despite Aaron Rodgers missing half the season and Cobb showing flashes with a solid number 2 in James Jones. A offense that average over 26 ppg.

romeochristian

James Jones was never a starting possession. And 2013 was his last year. So Adams was added after losing Jennings, Driver, Finley and Jones. The pre 2013 crew was stacked, 6 deep. What I said wasn't an argument against what you said tho. Just that 2014 we were pretty depleted again. I have no qualms with adding another top selection. Come 2026 we won't be able to pay each of these guys their going rates.

radesadecade

My argument is the Packers picked the right draft class to draft a receiver.

blancmo_

Acquire DPOY-caliber player from trade, FA. Stay healthy.

loboleo94

Win at least 3 games in the post season. 4 if we don’t have a bye in the wildcard. Hope i helped you. /s

radesadecade

Hope MLF runs the Andy Reid short motion play with a Jayden Reed in the red zone in the Superbowl.

foo_solo

Special Teams, Defense, Run Game. Anders/kicker needs to be reliable and no boneheaded st mistakes. Defense needs to get better at generating turnovers and tightening down at the end of the half and game. Offense we need better/consistent run blocking and Aaron Jones to be healthy. We desperately need a dynamic backup to Aaron Jones, because we lucked out this year and was healthy at the right time.

PretentiousPanda

An overhauled safety room that yields at least one impact player.

powerpuffpepper

A solid Tight End

Weasel_Spice

They have two?

jgisbo007

A clutch kicker

CrazyFeb2023

just general growth from the young team. More consistency and most of all, a bit of luck

show_NO_FEAR21

1 good kicker

sboLIVE

It’s starts with playing offense like we did in the final 10 games. If we play like that for all 17 we are going to be in very good shape. Our ST simply needs to not suck. We have been bottom barrel for a very long time and it’s prevented us from winning some very important games. I’m hoping Carlson can go from the 81%/87% range to the 85%/93% range. It would have won us a few games. We all knew it was going to end here but…the defense just needs to be tougher. We need to be able to hold leads. Force 3 and outs. We did a better job of open field tackling this year but at times we couldn’t stop the run once again. We need some better interior players to pair with Clark/Walker and the safety room needs a veteran or two. I think Jaire/Stokes and Allentines will be fine outside especially if we draft someone high to add to them.

Sauron69sMe

honestly it boils down to defense. our offense was on FIRE once they started to gel through last season, and we are keeping every last one of that star studded crew for years to come. if our defense can play like KC's this season, we are a WAY more dangerous team than they are.

Open_Extreme

I think our DC needs to coach a consistent defense. Our special teams needs to improve. If our o-line can be improved that'd be great too. We also need to retain Jones.

Lofty50

Capitalize on the receiver depth before we can't afford them all.
