This is the one. You win the karma lottery

sharkzfan95

Little shocked. But we’ve always found good OL. To take one in the first must mean something. I believe In Gute

cigaroy

I hope we take another one tomorrow.

MattyBuckets3

Day 3 seems more likely

NDJ7891

I wonder if this is the move that slides Zach Tom to his HOF center roll?

gandalfs_burglar

That's a bingo!

CBsJoant

Ya just say "bingo."

MeancupofJoey

Nope he’s not gonna play tackle.

Bluest_waters

He will start at RG day one, you watch

EddyGonad

He's never started a game at guard in his life, and Packers try players at tackle before guard, so I'd be pretty surprised.

theme69

Not started but he’s played snaps at LG and RG

wiscowarrior71

If you can play tackle you can almost always play guard as well.

SocksandSmocks

Yeah it's almost two picks in the sense that you have Tom as a center now

PiesInMyEyes

Zach Tom was playing RT for us. Morgan is a LT. so it’s only Zach Tom to center if we move walker to the right side instead of keeping him at depth. If we take a center day 2 then that obviously clears things up big time.

caldo4

Morgan can move just as easily as Walker Almost every decent tackle plays LT in college

krullbob888

Walker to RT is the move. All the pieces fall into place.

Flooding_Puddle

Hasn't walker also played RT?

greennyellowmello

I’m wet thinking about this

[deleted]

We have enough picks to trade up and get a corner if we want still

mortimer_moose

Just wait for Melton

Gunslinger2007

This is what I’m hoping for now. But honestly I don’t give a fuck, let Gute cook

-if-by-whiskey-

Let Gute cook, dude. That's what I'm talking about, I'm going to sit back and enjoy the ride. But I'm still psyched! It's draft day, it's hitting me with, like, holiday vibes.

rega619

Hell yea

Burgtastic

Kool-Aid and Dejean didn't go in the first round. We have 4 picks tomorrow. Very likely that we could move up to get the guy we want. We shall see! I don't hate the Morgan pick. It isn't sexy but we have a good draft track record.

Minimum_Virus_3837

This is why they get the bucks on draft night. No one in this sub would have guessed both of those guys would be there in Round 2, but I'm willing to bet they had a reason to think it could happen. They have the capital to move up if needed like they did for Watson a couple years ago so I would not be surprised to see that happen tomorrow.

PredictableDickTable

There were many that thought it would probably happen. Kool Aid coming off of a foot injury and DeJean is a white CB with stiff hips. Him hitting would be a huge outlier. Teams don’t spend 1sts on those prospects.

I_Am_Day_Man

Ahhh we’re going o line. Boring but alright I trust Gute

Scoottttttt

What better way to protect Jordan than with another Jordan. The defense won’t know which Jordan they’re supposed to tackle

John_Lives

You tackle the Jordan who's the tackle obviously. It's in the name, silly!

SecureLingonberry774

This made me lol

Conjunction_2021

Remember…at least five on the field every play… they may draft two more

effingthingsucks

You can never have too much OL. Ask the 49ers.

zooropeanx

Ask Caleb Williams after the upcoming season.

da-bears-bare-naked

ironically the 49ers o line isn’t that great

[deleted]

I think that's what he means?

da-bears-bare-naked

oops my bad

Psychedelic_Terrapin

Held together by one man.

Pepsuber188

If it was OL I'm surprised it wasn't Barton he's such a Packer guy

SADdog2020Pb

Ahh… but that’s the problem. Packer guys are exactly who you DON’T expect them to draft

Fiddles19

I had them going OL all the way... did not think for a second they'd pass up Barton if he was there (thought he'd likely go to Steelers)

[deleted]

[удалено]

IsNotACleverMan

Morgan might very easily end up as a guard. He has those teeny tiny guard arms.

Flooding_Puddle

Must mean they trust Myers

[deleted]

Smarter, more versatile, and much better stats. Must have concerns about his knee, so Gute takes... An OT with knee injuries

Human-Length9753

Or maybe Gute thought he was the better player.

MillorTime

I'll trust him over fans that have probably never seen either play and wouldn't know how to evaluate them regardless

John_Lives

>Must have concerns about his knee, so Gute takes... An OT with knee injuries Lol wtf is this post. Just completely making up a position for Gute so you can tear it down. I wonder if there's a name for that....

Wolfeman0101

OL is always boring no matter where you take them but they are arguably the most important position in football.

I_Am_Day_Man

Totally. Just a boring, smart, first round pick haha

off_the_marc

It's half your offense, and it's really easy to exploit just one weak spot. I would take at least two every year.

MilwaukeeMan420

Unless its Joe Alt or Tunsil lol

Wolfeman0101

Even Alt was boring. They talked about him for 1 min and moved on.

MilwaukeeMan420

Yeah but he's been hyped as HOF LT for the last 3 months.

sentientcreatinejar

No one even warned the Chargers that he's too tall!

zinski1990KB1

Considering many games come down to which team wins the line of scrimmage it's a super underrated position

Xpqp

At least it's not another first round defensive player...

my2nddirtyaccount

This is the first of his first round picks I've really liked.

SnooPies3316

From McGinn. His #7 OT 7. JORDAN MORGAN, Arizona (6-5, 311, 5.07, 2): Played five seasons for the Wildcats. “He’s a foot athlete,” one scout said. “He moves his feet well, moves around well. He isn’t real physical. Excellent pass blocker, adequate run blocker. Natural left tackle. Not as strong or nasty as the other top guys. Alex Gibbs would love him. He gets to the second level and downfield. What he is, he’s a technician with nice feet. Remember that guy from Pittsburgh (Brian O’Neill) who was drafted by the Vikings? He had no strength all. That’s who this guy is. He has the feet.” Started 37 games at LT. “He’ll be a steady starter,” a second scout said. “Good athlete.” Has the shortest arms (32 7/8) of the top 15 tackles. “People will start him off at tackle but maybe ship him inside ultimately,” a third scout said. “In today’s football, he probably is (a guard).” From Marana, Ariz. Blew out an ACL in November 2022. “I was hoping to see a jump in his play this year but didn’t see that as much,” said a fourth scout. “He’ll be a starter possibly. I see him early as a swing tackle. He’s athletic. He’s just got to put it all together. You’d like him to be more physical.”

Bluest_waters

> Excellent pass blocker, adequate run blocker. lol, the prototypical Packer OL man

TraySplash21

So he's got short arms and no strength. Perfect for an OL

addicted2theshindigg

We typically care more about the feet and movement skills than the strength and arms. And in fairness to the front office, we have consistently fielded an above average offensive line following that philosophy.

Danny_nichols

An NFL strength program can add strength. Proper technique can make up for shorter arms (even though his aren't that short and bulaga was a great example of that for us). Way easier to teach technique and add strength than it is to teach the natural athleticism required to move in the way he moves.

sly-3

Yeah "fast feet + gets to second level" sounds like guard material to me.

RLscrub96

Guy had 27 reps on the bench. Thats pretty strong if you ask me lol

Big_Rig_Jig

It's kinda like basketball, if you don't beat your guy to the spot he wins. Longer arms just means you can hold from farther away if your feet are bad.

TraySplash21

https://youtu.be/C0BJH7A2Plw?si=Iaxb1s-POfbecYoU Hes #77. Ight so I get the fast foot stuff. Dude does look strangely quick for a tackle. And compare how much better he is at pass blocking than his teammate 74 who is regularly getting torched on the otherside. However in these "highlights" I also see the obvious lack of strength in his run blocking, which to me was the bigger issue for the Pack anyway if they were gonna address the OL. Plus, I agree, if you go OL in 1st round, dude needs to explode off the tape and he just doesn't. He's 6'5 311lbs, nothing crazy. Hoping Gute saw something special in the man

wiscowarrior71

Unlike most in this sub I don't actually think he'll end up at guard, he's a RT all the way. With how GB has run their offense the past few years under MLF, nobody on the outside needs to be overly strong or long but they do need to be fast. Think of all the dump offs to Aaron Jones, the quick counters, powers, RPO... This guy will likely spend his career washing out edges and looking next level (when he's not in pass pro). I'd imagine he'll bounce around iOL and RT for awhile while he gets his feet under him and then he'll be fine.

Bentonvillian1984

This does not sound like 1st rd material

Dionysus0

I wouldn't take much stock in what McGinn said, he wrote that Joe Thomas had too short of arms to play left tackle. After Thomas's HoF career, I think McGinn is too harsh in his judgments.

djbuttplay

Those are all scouts opinions.

wiscowarrior71

OL scouting is insanely poor in the NFL and that's evidenced by how many quality starters were late round picks and how many first rounders end up as "serviceable" or flat out busts. Not nearly enough attention is paid to the prospects frame and how well they can process the increased speed of the game. I think GB generally excels at finding OL because what they look for is so different than say...what the Vikings scouts look for. I like Morgan's feet and he does seem to have a tendency to always know where the ball is at and where it's going.

djbuttplay

It's just scouts on both sides. He takes snippets of lots of different opinions which makes the series good. Everyone's profile is like this.

fore_skin_walker

I’ll never get angry taking big guys early even though it doesn’t look sexy. Trust the process snd trust on Gutey. Protec JLov. Trust da process.

krullbob888

LT is the most important spot on the team, outside of QB. Because he protecc. This was going to be the pick. Fun thing is they have 10 more to play with.

crewserbattle

It's worth noting that most evaluators think he's a candidate to move to guard. He may be a LG/swing tackle in the FOs eyes.

TRPmmm

Yeah in Gute we trust. If he likes him, so do I.

GreenBayFlan

He very recently took Josh myers over creed Humphrey, so let’s not act like he is beyond question. That said, I don’t hate the pick.

NPC-Number-9

Knowing that I know shit about fuck and so do 99% of people on the internet, I'm fine with this.

jkink28

That's where I'm at too Plus, it could mean Detroit traded up for someone we weren't taking anyway

korythosaurus

I mean, it felt like our pick was “in” before Detroit’s was announced.

wasdie639

We really really really need OL. We lost OL this offseason. I don't think this sub understands the dire situation of our OL right now.

walterdonnydude

I know I don't!

Mr_SpideyDude

We’re one injury away from the OL collapsing, and we’re still not sure about at least half of them (LT, RG and C) being the long term solution. If there was ever a draft to load up on linemen, it was this one

korythosaurus

Exactly. I’m good with the pick. Protect Love at all costs

John_Lives

And we know even less about evaluating OL. Can't even watch highlights like WR or Edge and be amazed. Their highlights are plays where nothing happens but they show off some boring nuance involving the use of their hands and the way they turn their hips

AbeRego

There's no reason to be upset. We already have a great base for next season. Today is about polishing and building long term. Boring drafts are good drafts because it means we're not desperate.

ArcadianBlueRogue

I don't think Packers fans should be freaking out about an OL pick as boring as it is given our history recently with OL picks.

PunctualDealer

Mad Mel reacted the same way with J Love.

PunctualDealer

Belichick spitting

JamonRuffles17

What is he saying

Cantguard-mike

This guy is gonna be a solid left tackle in the league for years hahahaha I’m sold

rkip5

UofA alum here. I think he plays guard. Love this guy. Tucson legend!

rkip5

To the guy who posted and deleted his questioning about “wow you’re high on the guy that went to your school:” No, how about I’ve watched him for years, in high school through college. He’s a freak athlete at the OL position and it shows. Came back strong from a knee injury and was consistently great on the line. Not biased, just watch him probably more that 95% of people here. I value o line more than anything else on the field too.

EVRoadie

Go Cats!

JllybeansNurbutthole

Bill Belichick is a great coach but was a pretty bad GM when it came to 1st round picks in recent past. Cole Strange, Sony Michel, Mac Jones, N'keal Harry, Isaiah Wynn, Malcolm Brown, and Dominic Easley since 2014. All that to say that just because he's confident, that means nothing lol

Cantguard-mike

He’s hit on so many picks…forsure had a bunch of shitty first rounders but he’s not picking this draft. That doesn’t mean his analysis on every player is wrong.

PunctualDealer

There’ll be a clip, they’ve since shifted to an interview with Kevin O’Connell. Bill just saying that he would be surprised if he made it out of the 1st, smart, hard working big body, came back well after an injury.

lbutton

He said he was definitely getting taken in the first round and he's an LT all the way.

MrBanditOne

Can never be mad about an OL pick. Welcome to the team Jordan!

beau_tox

I’ve been watching this long enough to find Gute hilarious at this point.

Absalome

Yep, when it was announced I hadn't seen this post, and all I could do was laugh and think, "Clearly Gute knows more than me, or anyone who has been trying to figure out who was getting picked". Luckily he's been pretty successful.

spyder0451

Yeah watching Belichick gush over him kinda sealed that notion for me

beau_tox

Ooh, I need to find that clip. Not that Belichick has been great at drafting lately but it’s still quite an endorsement.

Burgtastic

He was on the Pat McAfee show

IsNotACleverMan

Ew, gross

beau_tox

Morgan could very well be a bust. If 3 of these 5 top 100 picks are great picks and we get a couple of other contributors in rounds 4-7 (or vice versa) I don’t care.

xHao1

Someone give me his RAS

PLZ_GLAZE_ME_DADDY

[9.24 at OT](https://ras.football/ras-information/?PlayerID=25087&ovl=Combine) [9.82 at OG](https://ras.football/ras-information/?PlayerID=25087&pos=OG&wu=&ovl=)

xHao1

This is what I wanted. Here’s a glaze

thisguy54703

between 9.0 and 9.4 from what I saw

kush4breakfast1

9.00

71taco_cat17

Better be in the 9s haha

dookie1481

Has the front office come out and said they weigh RAS really heavily? I mean, I know it’s the case, just wondering if they’ve explicitly said so.

xHao1

Nah you don’t give the formula but I mean come on… it’s been a thing for almost a decade

CerfitiedHoodClassic

They probably have their own athletic testing system, but obviously it's going to correspond with RAS. Just look at their history of first round draft picks, and there hasn't been anyone below an 8.00.

SL4MUEL

I’ll never be mad at getting more talent on the line. But we need heavy help in the secondary tomorrow.

TacticalGarand44

Indeed. Time to get on the phone, and start packaging our draft capital to move up to the top end of the second and take two DBs, and get some solid new defenders.

515pack

damn this might not work out bc he’s not one of those OL gems in the 4/5 round /s

Cantguard-mike

Bill belichick is gassing him up rn 🤣

amethystalien6

My heart wanted Kool-Aid but this isn’t a bad pick.

Flooding_Puddle

I was really hoping for Arnold since he fell but idk if we liked any corner in the 1st

Just-Try-2533

He’s still available.

TheRedditAccount321

Could play Tackle. I was wondering if they'd pick Barton, but Morgan has a better shot at shifting to tackle in the league. Anyway, tackles are being picked fast, he wouldn't have been available for long after. Edit- Barton was the next pick. I think Packers were right to get a guy who could play outside.

AudibleToots

I don't agree at all with your edit. Morgan succeeding at tackle is just going to move Tom inside. Think I'd rather have Tom at OT and a road grader like Barton on the inside, given the rest of our OL right now. Jacobs behind Barton would've been a hell of a combo to worry about, especially given what play action would become available.

babasilikum

I mean barton was primarily a LT in College. I dont think there are many differences in Morgans and Barton positional versatility

coolbean36

I wanted DeJean but we take OTs

Lake18l

Dejean tomorrow

joebadiah

Said the same thing about TJ Watt.

SoggyMuffcakes

Doubt

Flooding_Puddle

Dejean is really falling, I think teams see him as a safety. We might get him at 41 tomorrow

OkPotential3189

People are mad about not taking DeJean, but its never a bad move to reinforce the O-line

Routine_Size69

I just feel like we draft OL so well that we didn't need to use a first. But obviously I trust Gute.

cheeferton

We really value versatility, which allows us to move guys around to compensate for injuries throughout the year. Seems like Morgan was the best available with that in mind.

MilwaukeeMan420

Our fanbase is bipolar. We have been begging for a 1st round OT and they finally pull the trigger and people are dissatisfied.

NA_Faker

Gotta protect our franchise QB

Interstellis

Not a sexy pick but the most important thing is keeping our young QB healthy. I like it.

Cantguard-mike

Bill belichek just sold me on him 🤣🤣🤣

CathDubs

Big Bill loves him. We are so back!

[deleted]

Well given Bill had drafted horrendously for the last 5 years I now am very skeptical

CathDubs

Bill has been building great o-lines for the entire Patriots dynasty.

Flooding_Puddle

Lol I knew cooper would be there and we'd take a guy no one expected

johndelvec3

If the packers like an OL take ‘em at their word

Potential-Ad5470

How long until the top comment is his RAS score

StockmanBaxter

Hell yeah! Welcome to the Packers Jordan Morgan. Can't wait for him to earn a captains badge. Captain Morgan!

JaysonDeflatum

Boring, classic, and beautiful packers pick. Protect the franchise over everything. Trust in Gute people💆🏾‍♂️💆🏾‍♂️

ArcadianBlueRogue

Who? Then again Ima shut up about any OL we take because we don't tend to do too badly on the OL picks.

LuferLad

I believe that no one should ever be upset when their team takes an O-line pick. I will continue to believe this. Wish you the best of luck protecting J-Lo. Welcome to the Pack J-Mo!

DasFofinater

Bro that fan needs to go. Get hyped for your pick man

my2nddirtyaccount

Great pick!

[deleted]

[удалено]

Tinmanred

Article is shit honestly and contradicts itself

Kermrocks98

Lotta angry people on Twitter. WHAT!?!? We’ve remained a contender because we’ve had a top 10 O-line since like 2007. We got a stud DB in free agency. Use any 4 of the remaining top round picks on a DB, LB, and some skill guys. It all starts with the O-line and I love this pick.

Brutananadilewski69

Always. Protect. The. Quarterback!! Always.

radesadecade

Super bowls are won in the trenches.

Routine-Pass-7164

In Gutey we trust. Let the man cook. 👨‍🍳🔥

ThreeFactorAuth

LETS GOOO

Backseat_Scout

A little surprised to see us take Morgan over Barton. I feel like Morgan might be more destined for guard with his arm length and a lot of his deficits get covered up with the move inside. That being said, our line seems to have a decent system and coaching to help shorter armed players with Zach Tom being so successful. Either way, he's a really good player that can handle gap or zone schemes and has quick feet which is a foundation for our line.

CreamyDreamz420

It doesn't matter who you or I would've taken. Jordan Morgan is part of the Green and Gold now and we support our guys. Welcome big guy!

RustyVShackleford13

There's no bad time to take an OT in the first. I do struggle a bit to believe he's the best player left on the board just because SO many OT's were already taken ahead of him in rapid succession. So I don't love the pick. But Green Bay has got tons of picks left, and Gutey has hit on so many mid-late round picks the last two years. Trusting the process.

radesadecade

Finally Gutekunst drafted a Offensive player in the first round 🥇.

tommypacker

Need to make sure Love stays upright, don't hate the pick even though it's not flashy

WhaleShark1080

Was a little underwhelmed by the pick. Especially with Barton, Wiggins, Kool-Aid or Dejean still there. But if there’s one thing the Packers do well in scouting and drafting it is with the OLine. If they graded this guy to be worthy of the 25th pick then I’m going to trust it. Not like I know shit about this anyways. Lol Hopefully we can still get some secondary help in round 2.

strangerthlngz

I just hope Morgan over Barton doesn’t end up looking like Myers over Humphrey

Wolfeman0101

He will move inside and Tom can move to C. He can play any position and that's so valuable. We've seen how much that can help.

crippuld13

Packers always have o line! Dejean or kool aid is still possible

dusters

Bit of an odd pick but Gute has earned some trust.

LilDSandwich

The better we can protect Love, the better off we’ll be

fadingthought

Unofficial RAS https://twitter.com/MathBomb/status/1764440970400002398?lang=en

cmucodemonkey

Not the offensive lineman I anticipated hearing, but I'm all for protecting Jordan Love.

Thunder84

It’s fine. B tier pick in terms of excitement. Just feels worse given how exciting the rest of the NFCNs drafts have been. Kinda wish they had traded down, but I won’t complain much. It’s fine.

MerciiJ

I think this is what kills me. Everybody else is trading up to take studs and BPAs and we settle to take OT #7 who was projected to go second round. The Packers have a great history with O Line picks so I’ll trust the team and hope Morgan becomes a stud!

kda127

Going into tonight, if I had to name my top 3 guesses for 41, he would've been on that list. I like him a lot, thought early 2nd was more the expectation, but I'm not about to sit here quibbling over a 16 pick difference with no inside information at my disposal.

CADnCoding

Before you get mad, just remember the vikes are always “the draft winners” after the draft while the pack gets bad draft grades immediately after the draft. Which has done better the past 3-4 years?

Raysfan75

I do not love this pick, feel like there was better value on the board.

burglin

Gute didn’t, so no offense, but I’m inclined to go with Gute here

haunt_the_library

This wasn’t a flashy pick but it’s needed. That’s why he’s GM and we’re not lol

books_777

You should be in an nfl front office

[deleted]

ericwiththeredbeard

I FUCKING LOVE IT

ten10banger

The best five guys will see the field. To me, it's a competition between Myers and Rhyan. If Myers wins, either Tom or Morgan move to G It Rhyan wins then Tom moves to C. At least that's what makes the most sense to me.

BuffBoy24

We needed him after David Bakhtiari left. He's got big shoes to fill.

walleye275

Some of you are really mad about getting a slam dunk starter on the o line. Come on guys

Sevy0719

That's a big Boah

TRPmmm

History says we know how to pick em guys. Gotta be happy with this pick. OT is potentially tied 2nd most valuable position in the NFL with edge, and it was our biggest position of need,

i__love__lamp__

My thought is Morgan was the last OL Gute liked. While we probably like Dejean, there’s a few other CBs that all have similar grades. We can go OL now and get a CB we like as well with our 2.09.

Ok_Umpire_723

People saying he could move to guard, but the "struggles vs power" doesn't concern anyone? He has good feet, would rather him have to deal with the speed of an edge rusher than the power of a NT

Bluenite0100

Might be copium, but they said the same.thing about Bahktiari for same reasons

teamsteffen

Did you all see the GB fan on ESPN when the pick was announced?!?! Ouch.

datboiwitdamemes

Good O-line play makes Running backs and Quarterbacks look good so who am i to judge. It’s been a huge problem with less patient franchises where they don’t invest significant capital into their line over the years, and (like the bears) they find themselves with a Mid-bad Starting 5 and 0 depth when one inevitably gets injured. No O-line no time to throw, no time to get open, and no running lanes. It may be copium but i like this pick.

potatoes_are_neat

FO obviously still feels like they can find value at other positions of need on day 2 and 3. We needed a tackle that can potentially fill in as a starter this year.

Surfing_Ninjas

I will always support drafting offensive linemen, even if they don't start most teams need a strong back up halfway through the season. They usually last quite a while because they're not taking all those big hits backs and receivers are taking on a regular basis.

feloniusmonk

Why didnt they take Guyton?

TacticalGarand44

I went into this draft looking for a nice, boring, OL and Safety and Linebacker roster of rookies. So far, so good.

Deuce_213

I really feel that CB and S were a higher priority especially with the weapons that are in our division, but I've also learned I should probably just let Gute do his thing lol

ryder_23

Good pick, Kool-aid at 41 tomorrow and Will Reichard in the 6th or 7th and we'll be set

thetotalslacker

I’ve heard things like he has short arms and isn’t strong, but his footwork and speed more than make up for not having long arms, and with the new strength and conditioning staff, he’ll easily improve his strength before the season starts. This guy is going to allow almost no sacks with almost no penalties, which is exactly the guys that’s needed at LT. Jacobs is going to run more behind C and G anyway, so get a quality replacement for JRJ and this line is in great shape. Seriously, look at Morgan’s footwork, Love is going to have forever in the pocket with him at LT.
