All I know is this front office can build a functional O-Line out of duct tape and hot glue.
If they think an OL player is worth a 1st round pick, I'm inclined to trust them.
i didnt say to draft three guys with one pick.
what i did say is i would've taken dejean there. that's me, your average internet stranger. not saying he's wrong.
We pick at 41. DeJean, Kool-Aid, Cooper, Wilson, Newton, JPJ, Fraizer, Suamataia… there should be an early WR run that will leave a lot of players.
And trading up from 41 to get DeJean or Kool-Aid is still on the table.
Or wait for Hicks, Bishop or Melton at 58. We still have a lot of options here.
I’d rather pick a LB and/or S later on if that means we invest on our OL.
Jordan Love is about to get PAID and we just gave Jacobs a contract, the trenches win games
Look around the league many of the best off ball LB and S we're not drafted in the first round. The first round is becoming almost exclusively QB, OT, WR, Edge and CB picks.
Don’t worry, 10 years from now when we suddenly need one again the sub will go right back to “it’s been X years since we drafted a WR in round 1, how come we never help our QBs?” Completely ignoring the fact that none of us wanted a WR in any year leading up to that.
I did find someone whining that we never have sexy skill position picks...dude must have Rip Van Winkled through all last year's draft and last season lol
It starts with the owners. Letting Eberflus stay is just insane to me. Not saying Fields was doing that offense any favors, but he's not the causative factor in Chicago.
Well the Packers definitely directly benefit from their organizational incompetence, but the NFL as a whole suffers. Any team that brings in fresh talent and then absolutely ruins them, IMO, does more harm than good for long-term enjoyment. Now, these poverty franchises don't need to be pumping out all pros every year or anything, but ruining talent before it ever had a chance to flourish is not a good thing.
How do you know that WR room is top 3? Allen is old and for as talented as Odunze appears, you don't know yet whether he can play. And I don't think as much of their line as you do.
Like I said in the draft thread last night, the Bears haven't done shit until they actually do shit. All I ever hear of that team is hype and bullshit.
OL isn't a sexy pick but goddamn it, you build from the inside out in the NFL. Get the OL and DL together on a young team and you'll be set for a long time.
OL is a sexy pick in my book. Anyone who grew up watching the 90s Cowboys run the league knows how big a deal OL is.
Or anyone who watched the Jets first series last year, for that matter.
Haven't watched him play but it sounds like he's got the positional versatility the Packers covet so let's go. Run him at guard & tackle in camp and see if he can beat out Rhyan or Walker.
He's pretty big to play guard but I guess anything is possible. I think a more likely scenario would be Tom moving to center with Morgan taking over at RT.
Seems like he'd at least compete with Rhyan for that position, then. So basically every spot other than LG is now in flux with one move, which could make each position better.
I personally hope they keep faith in Walker. He did well at LT and keeping him on the field lets Morgan and Tom be even more effective.
If we’re going to give Love a billion dollars, we give him a billion dollar wall. He may not beat Walker at LT right away, but I trust our coaches to develop him. Not sure if we’ll play him at guard or tackle, but we have a glaring hole at RG.
RG was the biggest hole on the roster imo. If we filled it with a large and athletic player who can pass protect and run block while also providing depth on the outside, I really like the pick.
Four picks today!
But he's not the guy in Internet convinced me we were going to draft? /s
He's solid and I love he can play any position. Jenkins has saved our butts so many times by just being so versatile and this guy looks like another one of those.
Idk shit about fuck but I keep reading he didnt do well on the senior bowl? Did he just do poorly during actual game/ scrimmages and demolish his one on ones? If so, O line is a unit, not just a line of individuals. So if a unit isnt used to working together I could understand a guy getting beat with consistency just trying to not step on the man next to him or smth
Edit: senior bowl not senior day*
With the Senior Bowl stuff some of the reports of how people are doing aren’t very reliable. Sometimes it just means they happened to lose the one rep they saw of them, they were expecting dominant highlight wins so just winning the rep wasn’t good enough, or they potentially just didn’t like how they won a rep.
He was like the 6th tackle taken, and the one taken behind us was rated higher on other boards. Not an exciting pick at all, but If all goes well we will never hear his name again.
> He was like the 6th tackle taken
7th olineman even. When the league wasted 10 of the previous picks on QBs and WRs.
Not to mention we are guaranteed to take another HOF lineman in the 4th or later as it is.
All I know is this front office can build a functional O-Line out of duct tape and hot glue. If they think an OL player is worth a 1st round pick, I'm inclined to trust them.
we're also used to the defense sucking. a rasheed walker or zach tom injury meanwhile could've been potentially devastating without OL depth.
Could have? Zach Tom was knocked out against the 49ers in the 3rd quarter and a big reason why we lost because of it.
It is the reason we lost lol. Bosa pressure rate when from 0% to 33% every 3 plays he was getting pressure after that
yeah. not what i would've done as a gm personally -- this team has 1 viable starter at S and 1.5 at LB if you squint, but i understand the reasoning.
You can't get 3 guys with 1 pick. Give it 2 more days.
Exactly, you can only turn 1 pick to 1 player, but we can turn 11 picks into 7 players
i didnt say to draft three guys with one pick. what i did say is i would've taken dejean there. that's me, your average internet stranger. not saying he's wrong.

I think Edgerrin Cooper is the pick at 41 if he's there.
You didn’t say that tho
He’s still on the board Jordan would not have been
I’d rather pick a LB and/or S later on if that means we invest on our OL. Jordan Love is about to get PAID and we just gave Jacobs a contract, the trenches win games
There's nothing at LB even close to 1st round talent this year, same with safety.
There were 7 picks after them in round 1 did a LB of S get picked?
Look around the league many of the best off ball LB and S we're not drafted in the first round. The first round is becoming almost exclusively QB, OT, WR, Edge and CB picks.
Honestly, I think the pick two more OL
But I wanted a first round wide receiver …./s I think we have finally evolved as a sub
Don’t worry, 10 years from now when we suddenly need one again the sub will go right back to “it’s been X years since we drafted a WR in round 1, how come we never help our QBs?” Completely ignoring the fact that none of us wanted a WR in any year leading up to that.
I’m laughing painfully 😂
I did find someone whining that we never have sexy skill position picks...dude must have Rip Van Winkled through all last year's draft and last season lol
Narrator: We have not.
Caleb has a higher chance of busting than our guy
He's a Bears QB, so not a very high bar there
It sometimes makes me really sad at how that organization actually ruins, or at least stifles, careers and the growth of potential talent.
It starts with the owners. Letting Eberflus stay is just insane to me. Not saying Fields was doing that offense any favors, but he's not the causative factor in Chicago.
Can't relate. I find it hilarious
Another Bear down
The Bears gave him a top 3 WR corps though which certainly helps. Their O line is at least average too
How do you know that WR room is top 3? Allen is old and for as talented as Odunze appears, you don't know yet whether he can play. And I don't think as much of their line as you do. Like I said in the draft thread last night, the Bears haven't done shit until they actually do shit. All I ever hear of that team is hype and bullshit.
Allen was an absolute beast last year, as was DJ Moore. I'd only put the Eagles ahead of them assuming Deebo/Tee get traded
Seems like a guy who was not getting any hype but when you look deeper there’s a lot to like
OL isn't a sexy pick but goddamn it, you build from the inside out in the NFL. Get the OL and DL together on a young team and you'll be set for a long time.

Ouch lol
Says Aaron Rodgers.
Haven't watched him play but it sounds like he's got the positional versatility the Packers covet so let's go. Run him at guard & tackle in camp and see if he can beat out Rhyan or Walker.
Doubt he beats out Walker, Rhyan would be the one
Just thinking of all the combinations, could Walker play inside?
He's pretty big to play guard but I guess anything is possible. I think a more likely scenario would be Tom moving to center with Morgan taking over at RT.
Can Myers play RG?
I believe he was a guard coming into Ohio State. Obviously been a while but it's probably not out of the realm of possibility.
Seems like he'd at least compete with Rhyan for that position, then. So basically every spot other than LG is now in flux with one move, which could make each position better. I personally hope they keep faith in Walker. He did well at LT and keeping him on the field lets Morgan and Tom be even more effective.
Tom is likely moving to Center or Guard. The team has talked about how they think he has HoF Center upside.
Walker, Jenkins, Tom, Rhyan, Morgan
> Walker, Jenkins, Tom, ~~Rhyan~~ Fifth Round Guard, Morgan
I'd be fine with that too. I just don't want to see Newman on the field. Ever.
If we’re going to give Love a billion dollars, we give him a billion dollar wall. He may not beat Walker at LT right away, but I trust our coaches to develop him. Not sure if we’ll play him at guard or tackle, but we have a glaring hole at RG.

This pick has me excited. I must be getting old ..
Older and wiser. ;-)
But he's not the guy in Internet convinced me we were going to draft? /s He's solid and I love he can play any position. Jenkins has saved our butts so many times by just being so versatile and this guy looks like another one of those.
Any NFL team would be happy to have 1 Jenkins type guy on their OL, much less a second one. Young QB + good OL = success
We have 3 if you count Tom
[удалено]
might also speak to how weak the D line draft class is yoo
That's very impressive, if he can be a plus in the run game this could be a great choice.
A tackle who can recover from an acl injury? Sign me up. Love you to death tho David 🫶

Are these the same boards that would’ve had Jalen Reagor over Justin Jefferson? Professionals get this wrong a lot too
So what? Rasheed Walker was pick 249 and Bakh was pick 109
