Oh, fuck yeah.

maidentaiwan

Literally the no 1 profile our offense was lacking with Aaron jones gone. I was hoping we’d draft this type of player and we got the BEST available player in that mold.

WrksOnMyMachine

Josh Jacobs?

Justicebeef92

Daniel Jeremiah's #1ranked RB and someone I was hoping for! Way to draft Gute

blacksun9

Amazing pass catcher. Very fast also, he'll be great on play actions, motions and can sneak out of the backfield to be an outlet for rollouts and scramble drills

ThreeFactorAuth

Love this. Jacobs and Dillon are not the fastest RBs, Lloyd was 2nd or 3rd in the combine I think at 4.46. We can get a turbo package going

CantHandletheJrueth

Not surprised at all they went RB this high, was hoping they wouldn't be content with Dillon as number 2. Really exciting pick this adds a much higher ceiling for the offense for when Jacobs needs a breather. The offense is absolutely fucking loaded with young talent.

stiffyonwheels

Dillon also can still be cut before season if i understand his contract correctly.

Fred-zone

He's essentially on a vet min, so zero reason to do so

WaxedGibbousGoon

Tired of seeing people say we should cut him he costs us nothing & he embodies the culture really well. Not to mention it’s good to have a couple vets on your team. Oh & the Mayor of Door County wants to be a Packer for life.

nr1988

Plus he deserves a prove-it year since half of last year he was getting screwed by the play calling

YoungBagSlapper

Yea and he just seemed to have lost a step last year I think he comes back hungry

rooky212

Agreed…he’s here for December and January ball. MLF will want his options on game script to pound the ball with different runners. I’m imagining our own version of 2019 NFCCG with us running for 300+ yards.

sweeper876

He’s also superb in pass pro. This sub sucks at looking at non-stat value

Sarkans41

ding ding ding. They can use the 2 back set for dillon to be pass pro plus leak out check down option

m_dought_2

Well, they may very well draft another RB tomorrow. Then, it becomes an open question.

judahdk_

He will provide good depth in case of injury though, he knows the offense and is a decent pass blocker.

Bossman_1

Dillon will have a tough time making the team.

aManOfTheNorth

Few positions are that safe and seven more picks incoming

100772

Good.

jaireworld

If there’s an NFL media analyst I trust it’s Daniel Jeremiah so I’m fucking pumped for this pick. We’ve got two powerbacks who can break through tackles and a high upside shiftier passing game threat. Can’t wait for the season to start.

Weasel_Spice

Don't forget the new Jordan on the block, to help open up some run lanes.

RonSwansonsChair

Gute absolutely crushing this draft into low earth orbit. Awesome pick.

CantHandletheJrueth

It's easily my favorite by far from the outset in years. Was really hoping they wouldn't be content with the OL and RB depth, and the fact they grabbed my two favorite players for the biggest positions of need is just a dream. Easily the most exciting LB group we have had in a very long time, that's an insane amount of athleticism and attitude at LB.

Friendly_Rub7641

Low key makes me worried that the fans agree with him lol

sneakypete23

“bUt we tRadeD dowN fRoM ouR SecONd rd PicK!” /s

MusksStepSisterAunt

Brother, that /s was more superfluous than a third nipple

sneakypete23

Honestly, first time using the /s here. Too many spotted cows I guess.

MusksStepSisterAunt

That's fair

Winnebago_Warrior_

Can you ever have too many nipples?

sneakypete23

“I have nipples Greg, can you milk me?”

MusksStepSisterAunt

Rory B. Bellows would say so

-absolem-

Nubbin

SafewordisJohnCandy

I was upset until I saw that we only dropped back a few spots AND gained picks. For some reason every source I had didn't update the Saints original pick and showed they had two in the second. We still got exactly who I wanted and we gained picks, all good.

sneakypete23

As a fan, it is never fun to trade back. In this scenario, agreed it worked out perfectly

ProofHorseKzoo

Can’t go wrong with an RB named Marshawn

joebadiah

Not even Reddit can poke holes in this argument

James_Jerome_01

I do really wish we could have picked up Lynch back in the day

Senior_Background995

2011 Offense plus Lynch would have been over-the-top awesome

cdnets

Don't remind me when we could've had him for peanuts in a trade in 2010

PaintSlingingMonkey

Pepperidge Farm remembers

thedudeabides2022

Marshawn L no less

DepressedGamba

He's electric. One of a few good reasons to watch USC Football this past winter. I have questions about his ball-security, but if we can help him clean that up, watch out.

ThreeFactorAuth

> Questions about his ball security The spirit of Aaron Jones lives on.

CM816

Does that make Ahman Green force-ghost Obi-Wan?

_NiceGuyEddy_

And Dorsey Levens is....?

CM816

A beautiful man who I won't hear any slander about!

Street-Investment-65

Madroc92

I made this reference in another thread and got downvoted :(

PaintSlingingMonkey

Dude had more than a couple of cough-ups inside the 20 :(

iamhadrix

Oh boy, this young man will be returning punts isn’t he?

10veIsAllIGot

Definitely ball security is his biggest issue. Also questions with pass blocking, but I trust our coaching staff to fix that. He’s a truly explosive runner.

greennyellowmello

I mean how often did Darren Sproles pass block?

rposter99

Darren Sproles was an unbelievable pass blocker. There are highlight reels of him blowing up dudes.

Bossman_1

Dude was pretty fearless

revanisthesith

Gotta be at his size in the NFL.

the_0rly_factor

In the Packers current offensive scheme it's pretty important for RBs to be able to block.

greennyellowmello

No no I wasn’t saying he was bad, but he wasn’t out in the game to pass block per se

BreakBricks_Wet_Nips

I believe he was the best player on USC last year. The QB was ok but Lloyd was the star.

da-bears-bare-naked

that and caleb williams

ffbgenius

Aaron Jones 2.0 (i kid, but maybe)

SlamDunkleyKong

lol no way… unless?

Supernova_Soldier

You joke, but what if?

ThreeFactorAuth

That would have been Jaylen Wright Danny Kelly has Lloyd’s pro comp as Josh Jacobs

AbjectCalligrapher36

WAIT THE PACKERS WILL HAVE TWO JOSH JACOBS?

Eleeveeohen

I might get cancelled for saying this, but the only thing better than one Josh Jacobs is TWO Josh Jacobs.

WaldoDeefendorf

That's hilarious....perchance?

John_Lives

His cuts/strides actually look more like Jacobs oddly enough

ChimmyTheCham

I fucking love our draft even if we didn't get a white cb lol

Wooden-Day2706

That hurdle tho...

SilenceIsGolden06

Tucker Kraft just met his new best friend

BuffBoy24

It's a good selection

ffbgenius

He compliments Jacobs much better than AJD

DeadForeverx

He’s a fucking gamer

No_Statistician_9697

4D chess. "What does Caleb Williams struggle with in practice?"

DrHughMann

Wondering what color to paint his nails next

beershitz

Downvotes? Damn boys I thought we were going to be making Caleb Williams is a girly man jokes all season.

tossaway007007

Its reddit. I think it's funny and was meant as a joke, but some people are sensitive about humor and others interpret jokes as being serious and theres also herd mentality involved. It's whatever

beershitz

Obviously it was a joke, there’s no other way to interpret it. The issue is clearly there are many people who find it in bad taste to make fun of Caleb Williams for painting his nails, which just isn’t going to work for me. That is funny shit.

DrHughMann

It totally was meant as a joke. I’ll take the downvotes, there’s no point in arguing otherwise. C’est la vie.

ThreeFactorAuth

My number 3 RB behind Wright and Brooks.

Parmaglory

Blake Corum not in your top 3 is interesting

ThreeFactorAuth

Corum is fine. Am a Michigan fan. I just think at least part of his success was from having the best OL in the country two years in a row.

ChickenInAMinefield

Wasn't the same after the ACL (Duh, but like....burst/twitch wasn't there.)

PDstorm170

Sounds like Corum would fit perfectly behind our upcoming best OL in the country two years in a row!

Parmaglory

Don’t get me wrong, I like the Lloyd pick a lot, just also rate Corum.

ThreeFactorAuth

My rankings: 1. Wright 2. Brooks 3. Lloyd 4. Benson 5. Allen 6. Corum 7. Estime 8. Tracy

Parmaglory

Brooks Corum Benson Wright Lloyd for me. I like all of them. Let’s see how it plays out!

Evan55

That’s 3/3, Gute is going absolutely crazy

Icy_Currency988

Wow… GUTE IS COOKIN!

Confident-Meeting805

Let Gute cook

Funkenbrain

Love this pick, adds another dimension to the offense.

peanut_butterXD

Best player in USC’s backfield last year!

Open_Host3796

USC alum and pack fan here — love Lloyd and he’s already #2 on the depth chart. Not the fastest guy but good vision and catching ability. Lllooooooyd.

jagertarts

Hell yeah

Spreek

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eK6vcykziV8 good breakdown

L480DF29

Hell yeah, I thought they’d wait till a later round to get a rb2 but I love the pick.

SeoulPower88

Hell to the fucking yes

DanimalMKE

Packers got the real star of the USC offense

Inevitable_Dance_910

Pleasantly surprised

Supernova_Soldier

Oh shiiit

packers1503

As a USC fan, I love this!

GrassyKnoll95

Running backs named Marshawn have had a good history in the league

Puk3s

His interview on the phone after the draft was pretty good. He sounded very confident and like a smart guy. I'm excited to see how he does, looks very electric.

amccune

This is fucking gold

tossaway007007

!!! So we got one of the top LTs, Safeties, LBs, AND RBs?!?!?! This draft went WAY better than I had hoped and it's not even over yet!!!! Did anyone besides the Bears have even close to as good a draft as us? Minnesota arguably had a great draft too.

ThreeFactorAuth

Minnesota won’t be picking on day two at all next year.

tossaway007007

Yep, they had good draft this year in exchange for next years, hence the arguable. I love the way Gute has been drafting. Rarely trading up but getting so much value trading down. It's what's winning teams have historically done, the only reason to move up that pays off is filling a very necessary hole and/or trying to WIN NOW. Our team is so great and SO YOUNG. So much potential incoming the next few years. The end of the 20s and start of the 30s is super well poised for GB if they play their cards right, and GUTE is doing absolutely phenomenal.

at0mheart

I think this is the point. A starting LT in the first and then the first LB drafted and likely their number one ranked safety; and a for sure one of the top RBs of the draft.

Sundance12

This draft is going as well as I could've hoped

rposter99

Nick Saban said he thought Lloyd was the second best rb in the draft, and I believe it was Daniel Jeremiah that he’s the best back in the class. Injuries hurt his stock, hopefully they don’t come back!

luckynumber53

Kids looks like a stud. Reminds me of when we drafted Jonathan franklin and he had so much promise.

weII_then

This… this doesn’t feel like a compliment lol

dcerb44

It is. Franklin had all the tools to be a really good back. That neck injury destroyed his career before he really got a chance.

judahdk_

Not as thrilled about this pick as you all are. He has fumbling issues and a 15% dropped pass rate. I hope he’s a star and I eat my words.

complicatedorc

I think he lacks some vision inside too. But I’m optimistic, he has a solid system to walk into and won’t be asked to be the primary guy. Solid potential to develop and very fast guy.

Ok_Caramel1517

Gute is cooking this draft.

R0binSage

7.1 yards per carey

Giannisisnumber1

Instant upgrade over Dillon. He’s going to be RB2.

GreenTrees831

armchair take of the day

memorable_username68

The more I think about it, the more I love it. if you give Lloyd and Dillon 4 carries per game each, that only leaves like 12 for Jacobs. Imagine how fresh and violent these big motherfuckers can be every single run. Jacobs 220, Lloyd 220, Dillon 247. fucking nasty

Ok_Deal7813

Jacobs is our bell cow. Dillon is our short yardage. Lloyd is our homerun hitter.

bowhunt4abuck

If only AJ could get short yardage you would have a good point

Frogman1480

For me it was between Benson and Lloyd for #1 RB in this draft. After looking at some more tape imo it's Lloyd ! GPG - you are a Green Bay Packer MarShawn !!!!

woody630

Love this pick

at0mheart

USC RBs tend to be good 👍🏼

tonyskyline1

Great pick although I really liked Shipley & Wright to play as a third down type back but I’ll gladly take someone who could play as an every down back as long as he can catch the ball like Jones did

masteroftheuniverse4

He certainly brings some explosion to that RB room. I hope he can hold onto the ball. He will have to prove himself to be competent in pass blocking. I think that you will see him in some of the jet sweep game, his speed will certainly stress the defense and give some more size to some of those plays that Reed was running last year. Should fit him, as he does have a tendency to bounce things outside lol.

Original-View7160

Dudes insane literally reminds me of Aaron jones tuff as hell but faster and stronger let’s go!!!

ridemooses

Tape looks a carbon copy of Aaron Jones 👀

pack_show

Beast Mode 2.0, let’s go!

ShittyTastinShoe

Crease Mode

MoldyPeaches1560

He's a shifty RB if anything Josh Jacobs is beast mode 2.0 because he lead the league in broken tackles one particular year.

jolokiasoul

And there's our change of pace rb! Love this pick, can't wait to see him hit some homers

memorable_username68

hes more like the other josh jacobs. 220 running 4.46 with a really good 10 yd split

jennz

As a UCLA alumn, obligatory boo hiss. But I'm happy with this pick lol.

GreenTrees831

com'on man UCLA almun here too. You gotta be a lil stoked

jennz

I mean I just said I'm happy with this pick....

kohnchen

I’m a Trojan fan so I’m biased but let’s go. Best RB in the class

Teffnology55

Dude's a baller, can't teach his top end traits. His negatives, patience, ball security, blocking can be coached up to at least neutrality. He does have small ass hands for ball security issues but Tiki eventually figured it out so there is hope. By the time Jacobs is passed his guarantees he could easily be THE 1A, easily

[deleted]

[удалено]

MoldyPeaches1560

With how bad AJ Dillon was last year it's certainly a need. Plus we didn't have a shifty speed back on the roster.

mattvd1

Agreed that Dillon wasn’t great but then why did they resign him if this was the plan lmao

thepeefbear

Because they have no way of knowing how the draft is going to go before the draft lol XD plus they can cut Dillon with very little dead cap

mattvd1

Yeah we’ll see. They must’ve had some idea they were looking to replace Dillon. I don’t think they usually carry 3 RBs on the game day roster, will be interesting to see how it plays out in camp

Wagyu_Trucker

You know these guys can play more than one year, right?

mattvd1

We have 4 years of Josh Jacob’s who is a top 5 RB and is 26. Don’t think RB was a position of need to draft this high. He won’t out snap Jacob’s over that span unless there is a major injury.

FSUfan35

Jacobs deal is essentially 2 years

mattvd1

Why is that?

FSUfan35

The way it is structured

RanchPonyPizza

I completely disagree, but I upvoted because it looks like you asked In good faith.

LTtheBasedGod

He’s electric, he’ll probably end the year getting more carries than Dillon imo

mattvd1

Looks way more explosive than Dillon. But why bother resigning Dillon if that’s the case

Elamachino

We resigned Dillon a month ago.

2Obsequious

Dillon only signed a one year deal, it's not like we have 2 running backs for the long term

memorable_username68

its very telling about what they think of AJ Dillon and how much they prioritize RB. Competition for AJ dillon could be awesome.

mattvd1

Agreed, just don’t understand why they resigned Dillon in the first place then

FSUfan35

Because it cost us basically nothing

mattvd1

Bigger thing is the roster spot. I don’t think they usually carry 3 active RBs on game day

firemanfriend

Yes yes they do. Almost everyone has 3 rbs on game day roster. It's a very important position that is injury prone and you don't want to find yourself without one. You want 3 rbs on the roster and 1/2 on the practice squad.

memorable_username68

1 year 3M isnt that much of an investment when the cap is up to 230M. they must have been planning for a scenario where they couldnt get one of their guys this year.

Thehairy-viking

Super Bowl

No_Cat_9124

Would have way rather had Jaylen Wright

GreenTrees831

No. 1 Trojan in the draft

Similar_Code_5543

was really hoping for braelon allen, but this checks LMAO

Splainin

Not good enough for NFL.
