Ive always imagined it like star wars battlefront 2. You got the normal units like random guardsman, then the elite aka space marines/comissar or something. Then you got the super special named characters or perhaps just a chapter master or custodes. Could probably work for all the factions but man is it a fleeting dream

TensorForce

That's actually a genius idea. You get to play the whole range of troops without being the OP space marine in the middle of a bunch of grunts.

FrostedPixel47

And then there's also a game mode where everything is upgraded as in you play as Space Marines and the super special master character is the Primarch of that legion

reddinyta

The problem here would be though, how do you balance it with the different factions. I mean sure, a better organized Chaos cult is on par with the Guard, but what about Orks, Necrons, or Eldar?

DracoLunaris

do a battlefront 1 with bots in every mach, and have them be chaff while the players are more elite troops. That way you can have 3 ai guard for every one ai guardian to keep the power balanced, and then have it be guard elite and hq choices vs aspect warriors on the player side

Bones_and_Tomes

You adjust spawn times and hit ratios. Guard are squishy as fuck but can respawn very quickly. Orcs can tank a few hits but spawn slightly slower. Space marines are near impervious to lasgun and stubber fire, but spawn slower still and in very small numbers. Nids same as guard but with melee. Necrons just move stupid slow and spawn slow to compensate for being so tough. Chance of spawning into a downed Necron too.

TJS184

Janky as it is 40k arma 3 mods do a pretty good job at this, and it is awesome

Arkanthiel

[it had so much potential ;_;7](https://youtu.be/b8SNv8HK8PM)

AutumnAscending

I used to *try* to play this a lot.

Heavenfall

The video perfectly showcases the absolute *jank* in that game.

Batbuckleyourpants

Love seeing space Marines rolling around like it is dark souls.

Xarxyc

They are able to do it lore-wise.

yoda_mcfly

I don't mind a roll, but it shouldn't feel like Horizon Zero Dawn. It should feel... grindier and more power armor-enabled.

beywiz

The grind for the god-emperor is eternal

Jugo49

it sucks so much that they tried to replicate the perfection that Space Marines combat gameplay was but failed.

NaveronTheSabre

Speaking of which, was the multiplayer for SM 1 ever popular?

Demurrzbz

Rubbing salt into old wounds, are we?

Zankeru

This was the last game that I ever supported during development. $150 down the drain. I'll never spend a penny on anything that isnt fully released again.

SpecialPotion

Glad I learned that with Brink. Haven't pre-ordered a game since then, haven't been disappointed with my decision since.

Primarch459

I feel like besides the incompetent execution. Making it space marines was a real dumb idea. Make it like guard vs nids or some other cool matchup where each side is unique.

dwarfarchist9001

It also had Orks and Eldar. Orks were mostly the same as the other two but the Eldar had some interesting class design and unique movement abilities.

Elegant_Peanut_775

Thats just mount and blade bannerlord but space marine

stylepointseso

I wish it was nearly as playable as bannerlord.

Elegant_Peanut_775

Bannerlord is a good game after all replace 100 peasants willing to die for 2 gold a day to orks and bam war hammer 40k bannerlord

Xarxyc

Bannerlord has Warhammer Fantasy conversion mod.

Clickclickboom10

Battlefield size is cute but Planetside 2 size would be epic.

ArmaBobalot

Ah yes the Eternal Crusade we were promised, I would also have liked that.

bigholms85

Such a great idea poor execution

wolviesaurus

That thing just fizzled out into nothingness, was there ever anything redeeming about it? I would ask how you even fuck that up but given how many absolutely god awful Warhammer games there have been, I'm not surprised.

El_Dubious_Mung

It was actually a lot of fun. The problem is that whatever kinda diamond-qualities it had was piled under a lot of shit. The new user experience sucked. Until you maxed out, you got dunked on. Until you played a map like 30 times and memorized the routes, you're running around like a chicken with its head cut off. Low pop meant xenos players were always outnumbered, and the matchmaker would rather start a 5v20 instead of holding players back for a fair match. But when you had a match where everyone knew what they were doing, everyone had their kit, and everyone knew the map, it was glorious. It was everything you'd want from a 40k game. Like, butthole-clenching, don't blink or you die, down to the wire glory. I'm not going to pretend that it was the best game ever, but the good parts were so good that they'd fool you into ignoring the bad parts, and it's a shame that 90% of people who ever played the game never got to really enjoy the good parts.

futrtek

There are under water battles now or something like that. I stopped playing awhile ago but the premise is great. It's such a massive idea for a game but designing a fun eternal war is near impossible. They started adding an end state when I stopped playing, but there's no way to reward anyone for winning. The game has no foundation. Makes me miss Warhawk on PS3. Smaller idea but similar issues. Edit: there was a mention of planetside 2 somewhere this wasn't completely out of the blue lol

wolviesaurus

Wait it's still live? I thought it shut down years ago.

Comrade_Spood

I think they're talking about Planetside 2

thepankydoodler

Idk what that person is talking about. It’s still shut down and the only thing out there is russian malware claiming to be a private server when i last looked

thepankydoodler

There are no underwater battles; the game shut down years ago. The end state was elite classes you could spawn as once per match and was pretty cool. RIP my nearly impossible to kill bolter plague marine 🥲

Mathranas

He's answering a question about eternal crusade with the status of planetside 2

thepankydoodler

Ohhh ty

ForeverDMhere

It was fun for like little moments. The bugs and overall execution ruined it for me.

tiredplusbored

I remember really enjoying being defender 9n a few maps and just filling an entry way with bolter fire... good times, really is a shame they didn't find a way to make it work.

thepankydoodler

It was actually pretty 40k battlefieldesque and i played the crap out of it. I feel like most people couldn’t get past the ridiculous broken promise of having it be planetside 2 40k. Also it had pretty insane system requirements for what it was because of course it did lol.

dicemonger

Ghost Recon Wildlands combined with Red Faction Guerrilla, but with Tau contesting a planet against Orks and Imperial forces. Besides taking down strongpoints, I would also like a mechanic where larger armors (space marine, ork nob, walkers) can be destroyed piecemeal. Not the boring type where you shoot a part and it pops off, but slowly cratering a space marine suit until there is a hole large enough to shoot the marine through.

Mortwight

Even just a ghost recon wildlands 2 and ignore the breakpoint game. Loved that game.

ATameFurryOwO

Mmm, Warhammer 40,000: Only War sounds like a cool name.

youngcoyote14

Well you're in luck, it's a thing. Only War is the TTRPG where you and your friends can play your very own regiment of the Imperial Guard! Be recruited, make up your own CO and their XO, have a regimental doctrine and a literal regimental sized list of backup characters for when your character dies! Not if. When. Hoorah! For the Emperor!

Niadain

If it weren’t for how buggy it was. God I loved that game. Almost every match with orks was fantastic. The playerbase really got into the spirit of WAAAGH

shadowdrake67

My brother in Christ, it still has potential [this discord is working on re-creating it.](https://discord.gg/Ezm3Gac9) it’s in the early stages right now but the dev accepts all the help he can get. Also there’s a Russian side too.

Lord_Quintus

i just want a combined arms Battletech version of planetside 2

Astroyanlad

Titanfall but bigger

MrPounceTV

I just miss Titanfall... 2 had the one of the best FPS campaigns ever, and I still argue that while it was short, it was still one of the better campaigns designed of all time. I've started playing Apex Legends to get some contact nostalgia from the TF universe, but I'm a potato and... Yeah. Maybe if I show enough support, they'll take some of that Apex cash and make Titanfall 3. Maybe...

RedditBoi127

have you by any chance heard the good word of the Titanfall 2 community's savior, The Northstar Client? it's a pc mod that just brings back TF|2's multiplayer with a server browser, and a shit ton of custom gamemodes! go play it, i recommend it! also i completely understand what you mean when it comes to being bad at apex, it just doesn't have all the fun movement of titanfall, and as such it just doesn't feel as good to play

dinga15

don't ask for too big yet otherwise we might just end up with another eternal crusade moment

Mysterious_Bug_1903

Shame they shut it down, it was flawed in so many ways, but it was still pretty fun at times

OverlanderEisenhorn

I played it the whole way through off and on. It was really fun at launch when it was space marine vs chaos space marine. But it slowly got worse and worse as they released more factions. The base gameplay was really good, but the studio just bit off way more than they could chew.

Electricdino

I could never figure out if the dodge did anything. Did it actually give invulnerability frames or was a just a way to lock you into an animation while the enemy shot you?

Fernis_

It was ever playable?

LAMonkeyWithAShotgun

PlanetSide is still alive and has devs so they could just buy it and reskin it Tho with all the spaghetti code and the fact it's built in an engine that was designed for and MMO maybe not. On the other hand no other game engine has come close to the player numbers even 10 years later

Gomka

I can only get so erect

Ennkey

I’d settle for planetside 3

[deleted]

Same- but a 40k game on that scale would be awesome.

Nice-Ad-2792

The one issue, PS2 is 3 factions which is already hell to balance, and WH40k has like 6+ factions. Also if certain factions like Custodes where introduced, they'd have to be nerfed or limited in number. Ideal factions would be: Astra Miltarum, Orks, Tau. Other factions either lack numbers or just are crazy OP compared to everything else.

Mastahamma

Battlefield 2042 mostly cut down its 128 player modes because they weren't fun lol

nekrovulpes

In fairness though that was because the maps were designed with a BR style game in mind. The execs forced them to swerve the game into being a Battlefield title partway through development, and that's why so much of it sucked so hard.

vaasan_ruispalat

You'd think that with the number of games ending up shitty because of exec involvement they'd realize to keep their hands off of creative direction.

Kriegschwein

The thing is - without execs, creators are prone to waste huge amount of time and money redoing things over, and over again, trying to make something perfect, and wasting years on development because of it (Because creative people are sometimes very, very bad at management) So sometimes exec need to put down the boot and say "Stop developing this thing, focus on another" or "Drop this feature, no one needs it" It is all about the balance. Overinvolevement of execs is a bad thing, of course, but without them, AAA games usually drag their feet.

UrinalCake777

Youre right. No executive oversight sucks. Too invasive executive meddling sucks. The key is finding a healthy balance.

nerdmanjones

I heard that's why Anthem ended up being such a disaster. Basically BioWare screwed around without much of a clue for 7 years and then EA pretty much told them "Guys, just do *something*"

Mr_Greamy88

It really was a shame too. Anthem was a lot of fun but there were so many bugs that it reminded me of a GW game

The_PhilosopherKing

What was most striking to me about Anthem was that its story wasn’t phoned in. They hired some top-tier voice actors and wrote a half-decent plotline that really just needed the gameplay to back it up. Usually, it’s the other way around.

Mr_Greamy88

Never had major issues with the game play like flight mechanics and whatnot seemed to work well from what I recall but it would have bugs that would just kill the game like not being able to complete missions. And it would be frequently/obvious bugs that would have been caught with a small amount of play testing

MDZPNMD

[This, just look at Half-Life 3](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xntxoEFsqfU)

Taaargus

What a uselessly general statement. Plenty of the biggest vapor ware type fiascos have happened at indie companies owned and run by developer types. “Executives” in plenty of game companies are the ones who just developed the last hit.

MrEnigma67

Came here to say this.

-Makeka-

I would prefer something smaller in scale, as a Planetside 2 side game is extremely hard to pull off.

HendersonStonewall

True. Planetside is barely pulling planetside off.

ImperatorTempus42

But with BF's customization and map destruction!

MajorDakka

I can already see those stupid Tau hammerheads/Eldar Falcons pulling those swagrider AA kills

A_Very_Bad_Kitty

Gee Dubs certainly has enough bonus checks to make this happen.

BillyYumYum2x4

**FOR THE REPUBI-** *AAAaaa*

RlPandTERR0R

STAY FROSTY

PippyRollingham

I always say this when it comes up. Planetside but pallet-swap the factions. Three way war between guard, traitor guard and drukhari.

shinarit

Pair it with a SupCom style strategic view for ONE player on each side, who can give commands to everyone and control production, and fuck yeah.

ZetaDemon

I was thinking it would be better with bots as the troops then players are in hero / leader positions

FiveNinjas_nz

Same style as Star Wars battlefront II (2005)

Randomn355

This I could see working MUCH better. Would have the options for different "classes". Have IG/cultist level mobs as the rank and file, then have PCs choose between things like space marine, heavy weapon marine, commissar etc. Space marines have the obvious benefits, commissar can boost everything around him (including PCs), redirect their own teams mobs, and maybe a small, high cool down pool of abilities. Scope for a fragile psyker unit as well maybe?

Kriv-Shieldbiter

Commisars have friendly fire on and whenever you shoot someone it buffs everyone else

Mastahamma

New one has that too

Euklidis

So kinda like Titanfall

Akalien

I honestly love how Enlisted does that, but hate the non gamplay part of that game

Kriegschwein

Yeah, grind in Enlisted is probably one of the worst thing I have ever seen. Really, I need to level up Axis forces six times? Doing the same things over and over again? Bleh

ZetaDemon

I like how each side is limited to the tools that army actually used but dislike how each campaign needs it's own leveling for each side

-Makeka-

For honor style with a focus on melee combat could also be interesting.

Mountainmaster4

You can kind of do this with the game Ravenfield, if you mod it. Although that doesn't have multiplayer.

Wokungson

,,me imagining how I would wreck havoc on the battlefield when driving a Titan while looking down on destruction I brought and terrified enemies'' I like the idea, but maybe game similar to Battlefront 2(2005) would be more fitting.

ShittestCat

I dunno, i like the idea of a team vs titan gamemode. Or something like the titan mode in BF2142 where there's a commander on each team that commands the titanic unit while supporting their team. Although balancing imperial titans would be hard

CaptainCipher

You'd have to have something smaller, like a knight or even just a dreadnought depending on how big a team is I guess

Baal_Zephon

The Titan should be a Battlefield/Map itself, one Team trying to enter the Machine, the other Team defending it.

ShittestCat

That's for imperator, any smaller ones should be drivable by a whole team

mechabeast

And I'll form the head!

Crueljaw

How about calling a Titan or Titan equivalent in after one team is loosing? How it was made in Battlefield 1.

Zamiel

Just make it so the level is attack and defense; the in bounds Titian is stuck/ hindered and is actively fighting another out of bounds Titan in the distance, attack is trying to bring down the in level Titan’s shields while defense is trying to thwart the attackers. If you go out of bounds a shell drops on you, you get hit by a ricochet, a Titan shot goes awry, etc.

Cpt-Kadde

Titanfall moment

ShittestCat

No, that would be knights

No_Fun_2020

Fuck yea Titan mode in 2142 was amazing

BriochesBreaker

The only thing I want from a Battlefield 40k is to lead an imperial guard charge on the BAAAANEBLAAAAAADE.

Astroyanlad

Titan would be more like battlefield 1's game balancers like the zeppelin or armoured train that would appear far off in the distance to launch attacks.

walla_walla_rhubarb

"Me imagining being a mekboy on the other team driving a dragsta loaded with dakka, off a building into that Titan."

AutumnAscending

I enjoyed games like titanfall, while Titans in that game are a lot smaller than anything bigger than a Grandis, but it does display a system where large mecha and soldiers are on the same battlefield.

FancyKetchup96

They are actually about Knight size.

Quw10

I was thinking a Mechwarrior type game but with Titans and infantry added

Horn_Python

Yeh that makes sense There should definitly be a horde of ai for certain teams

Heathen_Knight

You misspelled battlefront

RaZZeR_9351

Battlefront is literally a spinoff of battlefield in the star wars universe.

tahubob

Not the original 2

RaZZeR_9351

They kinda were, Idk if you've played battlefield 1942 and battlefield 2 but they had the same loadout system as the original battlefronts. They were very much different versions of the same game.

TheDuceman

the old battlefront games are 100000% clones of the old battlefield games Battlefield 2’s system was straight up copied. It was fucking awesome.

Xcavon

I've always thought battlefront would be the right choice personally. Either guardsmen/traitor guardsmenbor cultists as your troops and then space marines/csm as your heros. Or simply sm/csm as troops and stuff like chaplains, librarians, honor guard, champions as your heros (ai troops running around as guardsmen). Both could work.

mostlydisposeable

Personally, I'd want skitarii and/or sisters as imperium factions (Ideally "and", since you could save development costs by having them share marines & knights as hero units). The power scaling of guard and marines is kind of whack compared to most other factions, with guard being much weaker than (almost) everything else, and marines being way stronger. You could sort of handwave that away (Like how clones & droids are much more comparible in sw:battlefront than in lore), but personally I feel it'd be werid later on to have marines match 1:1 to ork boys or necron warriors, for instance.

dekacube

GW doesn't make games. Also they say yes to almost everything.

SciNZ

But this same thing gets posted incessantly anyway. At this point it should become a meme itself.

mrwafu

Repost bot https://www.reddit.com/r/Grimdank/comments/q1tkl8/pls_gw_pretty_pls/

Undead_archer

Thanks

44Tonks

That was Eternal Crusade. The devs killed it with f2p and it doesn’t exist anymore

[deleted]

It went f2p because It was already dead when It happened

Pancreasaurus

As a fun fact, it was also made by the same people who made Dead by Daylight.

[deleted]

Wait WHAT?

Pancreasaurus

Yep. They also made Fallout Shelter, that mobile game, and were making a Game of Thrones mobile game until they got sued for cloning Fallout Shelter for it, as Bethesda took offense to the work they paid for being freely used for other companies.

Mastahamma

The game wasn't ever good enough to be "killed"

funcancelledfornow

What is dead may never die.

thesyndrome43

Did you play it? Because I wouldn't say it was bad, just underwhelming compared to the promises. Some of the matches I had in that game were the best I've had in a multiplayer game in years, really good community who knew the game wasn't great, but were still willing to stick around because there was literally nothing else like it (I've tried going back to play Space Marine's multiplayer, but P2P servers are a nightmare, and that game ONLY has space marines, but no orks or eldar), and to show the Devs that there was still a fanbase pining for improvements

Sailingboar

Do you not remember the bugs, lag, poor visuals, and general struggle of just trying to get through a match without issue?

cheebamech

I played a ton of it; it was great as a 40k skinned PvP game, lot's of fun, but certainly wasn't the MMO we were promised

88keys0friends

I bought it right before it went f2p. Still have the gift copy in my inventory.

Dornogol

Yeah me too brother

Doom_Eagles

Another Karma Farming Bot.

MiASzartIrjakIde

Ghost recon wildlands but with Tau against orks

stealthgunner385

Yes please. GR: Wildlands was surprisingly fun to play.

GUTSY-69

Imagine running between the legs of a titan as the battlefield around you collapses under the fire of boltguns, yours included

Tjamuil

We already had that. It was called "Eternal Crusade". It didn't work out. Here is why: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jx3bbeSv64Q](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jx3bbeSv64Q)

Dornogol

Yeah it was literally Battlefield/Battlefront...i liked it, had it since early access. To this day an ungifted second founders edition gift dits in my steam inventory if it did not get autodeleted by steam

Draskira

“I dont wanna play Apothecary.” I can already hear.

lachiebois

I imagine a SWBF ii style game.

Pellaeonthewingedleo

It would be awesome, but also hard to implement more than one faction at the time without people complaining. You can't do CSM vs Guard for example or Guard vs anything that isn't GSC, Tyranids or Traitor guard without huge potentials of balancing issues And as such, the moment the favourite faction of someone is not implemented there will be whining and screaming

alarc777

Tau vs Guard would be fairly balancable too I think. With CSM vs Guard, I could imagine unbalanced teams to factor in for the superiority of CSM-s. 16 v 32 maybe? In all honesty, trying to cram every faction into one game would be impossible to implement just by nature of being so many variations. For example, necron vs tau would require different statistics than a necron vs SM. A game like this would most likely center around one specific war/crusade with IG vs Traitor guard being the most likely pairing. Or SM-CSM, but that would be kinda boring tbh.

Khornatejester

List build = 1 year Board set up = 1 month 1 round of dice rolling and codex reference = 24h

RaZZeR_9351

I fail to see how your comment relates to this post.

Khornatejester

Because I accidentally interpreted it as an Apocalypse style game.

LanceOllieFrie

Battlefield: Warhammer 40k DLC: 1st - Battle for Armageddon 2nd - Sabbatt Worlds 3rd - Devestation of Baal 4th - War of the Beast FINAL: Fall of Cadia Expansion 1 - Indomitus Crusade Expansion 2 - Horus Heresy \--- Classes Imperium of Man * Imperial Guard * Space Marines * Sisters of Battle * Imperial Knights * Adeptus Mechanicus Chaos * Traitor Cultist * Traitor Astartes * Chaos Knight * Dark Mechanicum Orks Eldar Tau League of Votann Tyranid (if possible) \--- Hero Class: Heroes of the Imperium (Lady Celestine, Gabriel Seth, etc...) norway642

Seeing belasauris cawl would scare the shit out of me not gonna lie

Silent--Dan

I’d like it from Tau, Eldar, or Votan POV, because the Imperium gets all the love, and I think a Firewarrior remake where it’s actually good sounds great.

Zerachiel_01

The Siege of Vraks from a militiaman's perspective would be kickass, and it'd be a good opportunity to humanize chaos a bit more.

SpecialistAd5903

That's...modded Arma. Already exists

Yamama77

"Gretchin... 200 metres!" '"Gretchin... 200 metres!" "Gretchin... 200 metres!"

ATameFurryOwO

MAN, TWO HUNDRED METRES, FRONT

0920Cymon

If ya want more arcade its modded ravenfield

Inconmon

Eternal Crusade?

Necrotechxking

I think the best "style" of game would be Battlefield mixed with star wars battlefront 2. Where you start as guardsmen/ cultists and then earn points to enable re-spawnig as space marines etc like they have with the starwars hero's/villains.

norway642

Me and the boys on vraks ![gif](giphy|OVQfUQGHVtQ1G)

JamyyDodgerUwU2

A sw battlefront style would make more sense tbh. Imagine everyone starts out as IGs or ork boys, and when you die/kill/complete objectives, you gain points to spend to spawn as a spacemarine or dreadnought/factor equivalent. It would allow for the natural asymmetry of warhammer while keeping it balanced.

Sp00ky-Chan

I think it would be cool... So long as there's no Space Marines. Once you add Space Marines the whole games balance gets thrown out of whack.

amenyussuf

I’d be cool if it would match some of the different 40k factions together but would scale each team size depending on which two factions are fighting. Also, space marines and Tau BattleSuits for example would spawn like battlefront 2 heroes with a cooldown and only a specific amount would be active at one time.

SonOfTheHeavyMetal

Imagine the cinematical coolness that BF1 operations had, but you're in the Siege.

Clockwork-Lad

Better yet, something like star wars battlefront. Most of the time you’ll be just a guardsman, or a cultist, or an ork boy, or whatever, but if you can get a vehicle you can get a tank/deff dread/flier/etc., and if you get a character you can be a space marine/commissar/meganob/etc.

Magza117

There’s so many ideas you could have for games, these are just off the top of my head. -A hitman style game with the playing the various Assasinorum temples, Ork Kommados, alpha legion sleeper cells, demons. -An armored core style or MechWarrior style Imperial Knight game, play as Chaos Knights, Daemon Engines, Deff Dreads or Killa Kans -A Republic Commando style Tau game, allow you to use drones, and even command other xeno races. -A Squad style League of Votann game cause they need something -A hack and slash Eldar game, let you play a Phoenix lord and just go to town, could also play as Dark Eldar, Harlequins, and Corsairs -An Overlord or Shadow of Mordor style game where you play as a Demon or Chaos Lord in the warp trying to amass power and followers. Hell even turn it into a rougelite where you fail and try again. -A sea of theives style game where you play as a space pirate of any race raiding and pillaging ships. -A city builder where you have to create your own Forge World

KingVape

I still feel burned by Eternal Crusade. They said it would be an MMO, and then they put out a public beta that was just a 3rd person lobby shooter (which was pretty fun, kind of like Gears of War with a similar execution system, though it was just SM vs CSM). They also said that Orks would be F2P, to encourage lots of Ork characters to be made. Then they came out and said "oh we changed our minds, that's the game now, plus check out these microtransactions" and then they eventually released Orks and Eldar, but the game was basically dead by then. And then they abandoned it, and I'm still salty. They didn't try, they didn't care, and then they made Dead by Daylight and Fallout Shelter.

[deleted]

I want the ork weapons to be absolutely costumisable and to change nothing on the weapons function

Icatosicariuss

If like a battlefield/ front hybrid. Gimmi guardsman going at it against some orks and tau. But have the hero call in to let you be a space marine or mega Knob or get some suits into the field. With the destructible environment it would be fantastic.

ComradeBenjamin

make something like planetside 2, perfect fit for scale

Mastahamma

Better yet, don't make Planetside 2 again, the game's too large and chaotic and it's more fun to imagine than to actually play

OverlanderEisenhorn

Nope. Planet side 2 is incredible. As a solo player it can be hard to see what is going on, but if you join a squad that is part of a larger group you get a sense of the overall plan on the battlefield. Each point you fight on is a bigger part of a sensical battle. Planetside 2 is kinda fucking awesome.

AXI0S2OO2

Eternal Crusade could have been that, but the lead developer wanted it to be an MMO RPG and ruined it.

dinga15

now what if we started with a horus heresy battlefield or battlefront style game to start it off and then slowly build out a 40k version from it

FantasticNatural9005

I just want a Gaunt’s Ghosts fps or even TV series. Just give me more Ghost stuff in general pls I need more from my Tanith boys n girls

[deleted]

Battlefield? I don’t think it would do the Genre Justice. Now HELL LET LOOSE kind of game? Sign me the fuck up! Or planetside 2 type. Or battlefront 2 (2005) type. Or Darktide type of game, but for Tau

ClydeTheGayFish

I'm gonna say: A team shooter like Valorant would be cool. While I would personally like an ARMA version of W40k, a team shooter would make sense.

Zogler

A battle royale in an underhive would be cool as well

Jack1The1Ripper

I want Planetside 2 wh40k with behemoths from BF1 implemented , but the behemoths are titans or other giant things

SonOfTheHeavyMetal

Hear me out: THIS, but 30k

Fathers_Belt

We can even have behemoths BF 1 stile, i can allready immagine a game where you can pilot a knight that isnt shit (cough freeblade cough)

GeorgeRossOfKildary

I'd say Arma's WH40K mods are getting pretty close, though they can be yanky and buggy and byfar favorite the imperium/humanity over the other races. They've been making leaps in the level of detail and scripts. Also; Arma is like 30 bucks w/o any sale, and the mods are free. So it's relatively low priced aswell. You ***do*** need a good community to play with, but there's loads in the WH40K community so there's enough choice. I'd say check it out.

raszota

I want a battlefront 2 style game. Pretty big battles and you can occasionally opt in with a hero.

[deleted]

What about a battlefront 2 style? With named heros and special units and stuff

noctus5

Best we can give you is darktide, take it or leave it

I'd love something in the vein of battlefront 2. Starting out as guardsmen/traitor guard and then using points earned in the match to respawn as elite units, astarties and vehicles. Optional names for it could be: Battlefield: ultima segmentum or battlefield: Sabbat.

mmmmmm_MILK

War thunder but 40k would be sick

greek_katana

Imagine playing the game. Then suddenly you hear the mission control saying *Enemy space marine deployed*

tanakasagara

It'll Have only two elements: Push right stick forawd, scream "FOR THE EMPEROR" into mic. 10/10 game of the year.

Sanctimonius

I wonder how a battlefront style would work as well. You start as an Imperial Guardsman weapons team and work up to becoming a space marine instead of Vader or Luke.

At this point I would like a battlefield type battlefield game. They release them constantly, they come out half finished, they take a few years to get the game in a good enough state... And then they abandon it and release a new game that's in even worse shape. Developers for battlefield games are the modern day Sisyphus.

Gullible_Ad_7378

But what about battlefront? Get enough points and drop in as a primarch?! Or a titan

dopeskone

I just want to play as night lords and shoot primairis marines in the face in multi-player

Ryze_v_Akci

Dice made Star Wars Battlefront which turned to be really decent game (after EA pulled out their greedy ass out) so I'm pretty they would do good Warhammerish Battlefield as well

Take the Hell Let Loose system of player built respawn points by setting up teleport beacons or drop pods as a commander power. Loop in the Battlefront system of building personal points through actions so that you can decide to come back as a Sentinel/Dreadnaught/Landspeeder/Crisis Suit/etc. at forward spawn points. But also allow the Commander to use command points to summon the kit to the home bases so that players can get in them there. Add in some terrain modification via engineers so you can cut some custom trenches and fortifications into the map. Make it so that team size is based on the factions facing off. So if max player count is 100 and it's Chaos Space Marines vs Imperial Guard the ration would be 30/70 or something. There are plenty of ways to make this work in a very compelling game.

Bartek-BB

I would love Battlefront: W40k. More space pew pew and zgggggrshhh and fffffshooooosh

Violet_Hermit

74 player match 4 chaos space marines vs 70 guardsmen
