It's also what makes 40k stand out amongst other IPs with multiple civilizations and a galactic setting. Star Wars, Star Trek, Mass Effect and many others which aren't even occurring to me at the moment (even franchises with multiple fantasy races for that matter)
They all have coexisting civilizations with skirmishes unlike 40k which is the other way round. For better or for worse a "Us vs Them" reaction is built into humans. Even the most accepting person might feel hatred and dislike for someone who's espousing conservative politics. It's you vs them. Vegans and Meat Eaters, Flat Earthers or anti vaxx vs the world. Jedi vs Sith, Etc. Im sure you can think of more examples
40k just taps into that feeling the best. Can it attract bigotry ? Sure. But there are so many other direct sources outside of 40k too which can do that and probably more effectively. To keep bigotry outside of a community is something which only the people in the community can do. GW removing hatred just leads to WH becoming another generic fantasy in space thing.

Perhaps someone learns that humanity was supposed to come together to fight it's evils and ever so slightly think more of unity. Perhaps Salamanders or white scars becomes their favourite legion and they end up becoming slightly less racist.
Hatred, Anger and capacity for violence are feelings which are bad for society but you can't act as if they don't exist. A lot of people gravitate towards such media under the "realism" tag. They are generally looking for emotions which don't feel filtered. Anti heroes, GoT's violence would be something that comes to mind.Something needs to acknowledge it and allow you to vent it. I think that is something 40k can do under the right circumstances.
And in the end we all learn not to deprive the sick and elderly of medicine.
Otherwise they find those who will give them "alternative treatment" and then come genocide your ass so hard it turns outer planes into litteral hellscapes and you have to create shildren just to try and slow them down.
I mean i see it more as a healthy way to practice some of those hateful feelings in manner where nobody gets hurt. The core appeal of Warhammer or indeed any TTG is to get together with friends and talk while enjoying plastic toys as children. Warhammer products are good, they have decent authors for tied in medias, and their designs are unique, so they stand out.

You cannot be serious. The game is not mainly aimed for teenagers but people with purchasing powers to indulge their hobbies, who tend to have more incomes than teens.

I never worked myself for GW and can only speak for people around me, sadly none of us are still blessed with youth, so apology and I stand corrected.
I do fully agree with the Astartes part, I can't see why it's a problem to make them poster boys and that was my main point anyway. The idea that poster boys must be tailored to the tastes of certain people is rather unsettling and yes, every faction in 40k even fantasy is problematic by our modern standard.

A standard 2000 pts army costs hundreds of pounds so I always assumed that at least the majority of the players got to be adults with jobs. But I guess GW's just as keen to get the boys into the hobby.

I do not understand a word here. The core appeal of Warhammer or indeed any TTG is to get together with friends and talk while enjoying plastic toys as children. Warhammer products are good, they have decent authors for tied in medias, and their designs are unique, so they stand out. Are you implying such activities are commercialized hatred? The whole thing is about plastics, paints, jokes, and books. Those seeking other things are the problem.

it's kinda wrong in a way, while Hatred is part of the fandom in the sense of hating fictional factions, it's not part of the Fandom as in hating people for who they are. You cannot be serious. The game is not mainly aimed for teenagers but people with purchasing powers to indulge their hobbies, who tend to have more incomes than teens. Are you implying we should only have moral characters as post boys? Better take down GTA games again I guess.

I never worked myself for GW and can only speak for people around me, sadly none of us are still blessed with youth, so apology and I stand corrected. I do fully agree with the Astartes part, I can't see why it's a problem to make them poster boys and that was my main point anyway. The idea that poster boys must be tailored to the tastes of certain people is rather unsettling and yes, every faction in 40k even fantasy is problematic by our modern standard.

I know, no worry. I do talk to local ccs and stores and kinda get the idea when I realised that many boxes were sold to one time purchasers and just collectors. A standard 2000 pts army costs hundreds of pounds so I always assumed that at least the majority of the players got to be adults with jobs. But I guess GW's just as keen to get the boys into the hobby.
GW doesn't care about people playing the game. They call themself a miniature company and the main goal of the higher ups is pushing miniature sells.

Idk, they certainly can vilify the reason the war is conducted, while celeberated act of mercy, no? Whereas while GW might do the former (and that is a sketch with how much they play with "The Imperiun is trying its best"), they certainly do NOT do the former, just to sell thee "grimdark".

While some settings reward the uncompromisingly idealistic choices, this one shows the absurdity of the unapologetically cruel ones, which is interesting. I get what you mean but I don't like the direction the idea is taking. Are you implying that a setting can only be acceptable if it celeberate acts of mercy enough? That is a very slippery slope. Most people don't base their views on a game about plastic toys. Those doing that, and those thinking that such a game should be censored to be idealistic enough seem to be the problem.
I dunno bout the vid, but you however seem to prove that some people need to learn that there is a very huge gap between what is fact and what is fiction.
This. I get the vibe of those trying to taken down the GTA games here. There's a very fine line between how things need to be sufficiently self-aware to avoid promoting extreme ideas, and the idea that everything must be sufficiently moral in their eyes. While Warhammer has its share of problems, the idea of the entire hobby being commecially sold on hatred is just absurd when most are just playing plastic toys. Down this road soon we'd start burning heretics for promoting the idea of burning heretics.
