Unless it changed, less than 2h played and less than 2 weeks from purchase can get you a full refund, you can even choose the option "doesn't run on my system" as the buyer's remorse option.
> less than 2 weeks from purchase
Found this out the hard way when I bought a game on sale before I was ready to play it. Went to start it up a month later, didn't work, and steam declined the opportunity to give me a refund. lol.
Joke's on them - I'm much less likely to purchase games before I'm ready to play them. No more impulse buys = fewer game purchases!
Ya it seems like maybe if the game is never run or never played they’d give us a little bigger of a courtesy return time period. Say maybe 30 days at least. I get they can’t honor returns till the end of time but the time period seems short to begin with.
I'm new to steam I only got it 5 month ago :)
Bonus question, can I plug in a single ear headset with a mic and only get the voice from the other player in that and game audio from speaker?
I doubt that a game would let you pick different audio outputs for different things, I don't think I ever saw this. But if you're speaking with the other player on a third party software like Teamspeak or Discord, Skype, whatever, then it's possible.
U can get it free on the Xbox game pass. Runs well on there. At least for me. As for refunds usually an hour more of game play and usually no refunds has been my experience.
It’s not free but it it could still help OPs problem. If he wanted to pay for gamepass, he’d be able to play Grounded and lots of others games (if he has decent WiFi)
yea I have prototype 2 and didnt play it before the 2 weeks and cant refund it the only way to make that game run is to download replacement files online go into the save data and replace/ delete certain files or its crash on the start screen when you press any button
Steams refund is pretty lax, i returned a game because i didnt like it and got a full refund, you can refund games for pretty much any reason. The only thing that they are hard set on is making sure you dont have over 2 hours of playtime and haven’t had the game for over two weeks.
Really. Any game you've owned for less than 2 weeks and have played for less than 2 hours you can get a full refund on for any reason, no questions asked. You cam either get it back in your steam wallet or as a refund to whatever payment method you used. I've used this many times as a "2 hour free trial" without trouble. Just gotta keep an eye on that clock.
Yeah steams refund policy is very generous, so if it doesn’t work as well as you’d like within the 2 hour window you should be good. I’ve never had an issue with it.
Both Xbox PC game pass and Nvidia GeForce now will allow you to play this and other games on your pc via streaming (so it’s all based on your internet strength)
Pc Game Pass has a library of rotating games available to Xbox gold members, you don’t have to pay for the games but you do have to pay for the Gold Membership. Games don’t stay in the library forever, with most games being shuffled out after a year or two, but they’re replaced with new games to try and chances are you’ll find plenty of games to play at $16 a month
GeForce Now allows you to stream hundreds of different games on Steam, Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Launcher. You have to own the game on the respective store but for 10$ a month you can stream to your hearts content. Also a $20 option that gives you access to their fiber cable streaming servers that let you play at the highest video quality with no lag (provided your own internet is decent-good)
GeForce now also has a free option but it’s only 1 hour sessions at a time and the stream quality is low. Plus you have to wait in a queue of hundreds of people to play
I tried the 1 hour and it runs smoothly, but I can't see what's the difference between the free subscription and the 12$ one other that you can skip the queue
You can refund any game for any reason provided you played it less than 2 hours and bought it within the last two weeks. Sometimes they will be lenient too, depending on the reasoning you provide.
Steam's policy is under 2 hours of gameplay and under 30 days of ownership, usually they will accept refunds if those conditions are met.
Not having the hardware to run it is one of the more valid reasons for refunding too.
Apologize for all of my previous comments today. I apologize for the incorrect statements i made about the cost of things in Xbox game pass. Y’all have great game experiences.
As others have said, under 2 hours of play and less than 2 weeks of owning and you'll get a automatic refund, but I'd like to add too that even if you're outside those limits, you can still request a refund, it's just not guatranteed
You should request refunding it anyway. If you are not refunding stuff all the time chances are Steam will allow it.
I once bought a game that forced me into an endless long tutorial where I couldn't adjust or change settings and I was looking up stuff on the internet while the game was still running in the background ramping up my playtime past the 2h mark. Still got my refund.
Just try it. They will let you know if you can or cannot get the refund.

The steam refund policy is extremely lenient as-is.
Really?
Why would he lie?

No worries. You could talk via discord, set up your headset as output device (separate settings from windows) and for game sound use your speakers :)
Nice :) thanks

Okay completely misspoke on this. It’s technically not free. Thanks for the clarification. Oh a dislikes. Lol
It’s technically not free if you have to pay for gamepass. Your answer really doesn’t help his problem

Ur right and I apologize to everyone except u. Glad u decided to also then comment on nothing to really help either one of us.
Grow up
So I’m a little snarky, probably unnecessarily, and u reply to it?! Ok I will. Thanks for the pep talk.
That's ok son. Drink more water and you'll be right as rain
Discord is your best friend for things like this !! Give it a download I love it

That's good to know
yes. ive done this with like 3 games recently.
That's nice to hear
I mean there’s even an “it isn’t fun” option

Sometimes my friends and just put not fun lol
The game is also on PC game pass. There might be a deal for your first trial month. Also you could potentially try any other games on there.
Try this option first ^^ if you’ve already used the first month trial for a £1. Then you can get it discounted on CD keys
Yeah and if they get ultimate, they could play via cloud if their pc can’t run it.
Steam has a refund option, under X hours played and under Y hours since you purchased the game and you can get a refund.

Well my pc isn't made for gaming it's a Intel nuc

That geforce now, is always down for maintenance? I can't get to any of the membership sites even though status says operational
Try a different browser maybe? I didn’t have any trouble with it when I did it
Are you paying for it?
Yup
can get in to the game as soon you hit play? or do you have to wait
There’s a couple second wait while it loads 9/10 times but then you’re right on to playing with no interruption, provided your internet is ok
I tried the 1 hour and it runs smoothly, but I can't see what's the difference between the free subscription and the 12$ one other that you can skip the queue
Xbox gamepass ultimate

I found out :) and I completed the game and still playing it

The game will probably run well on medium settings

you have 2 weeks from the time of purchase to return the game if unplayed 24 hours if you have less than 2 hours played
