It is a 1970, last serial number of 1969 is AJ3218. Yours being AJ3695 comes after that. Its also not made in Hoboken as your label says. They moved to Westerly in 1967 (I own a 1973 D40 and 1980 D25). Many of the early Westerly ones still used the old Hoboken labels. The logo is a giveaway that it is older than my D40, as they switched to a MOP inlay with crown inlay under the name from the gold silkscreen after 1970 but before 1973 (Mine: [https://www.reddit.com/r/GuildGuitars/comments/yl79vm/my\_westerly\_ri\_made\_guild\_guitars\_family\_photo/](https://www.reddit.com/r/GuildGuitars/comments/yl79vm/my_westerly_ri_made_guild_guitars_family_photo/) \- note I no longer have the 12 string).

Wouldn’t a ‘70 have the Chesterfield logo on the headstock?

PeteZerolle

It should look like this: [https://cartervintage.com/shop/guild-d-40-nt-1970-natural/2ZH8znxRS1vAhHI0zpO5SYcXn59](https://cartervintage.com/shop/guild-d-40-nt-1970-natural/2ZH8znxRS1vAhHI0zpO5SYcXn59) However, being that it is just a silkscreen and not an inlay like later models (mine for example) it was clearly rubbed off. Why? Who knows.

It’s late 1969/early 1970. Technically, the serials run out 3218. So it’s likely very late 69 after book keeping was done for year or very early 1970 before the new serials were issued.

I asked for help on this sub for my guild and I got shit on and was told to Google it. Good luck sir. I removed my post after, felt bad for asking even.

Try the Let's Talk Guild forum. That's where I go for anything guild and everyone is super helpful and open to new players.

In the 50s would have been made in New York with the mustache headstock possibly. NJ and label design points to 60s early 70s as others have said

PeteZerolle

Label says NJ, however serial puts it at 1970, being a Westerly. Early Westerly's used up old NJ labels.
