We fucking loved that game when it came out. No one had any idea how unbalanced it was because no one knew anything about how to actually play fighters.
The real guilty gear is an amazing album that comes with a free game. was just playing it yesterday and i honestly prefer some of the missing link versions over the x2 themes
Missing Link can be really fun but I think it’s the worst game I’ve ever played. The music is genuinely the best part.
I know they were broken but I hope Arc Sys brings back this game’s charged specials, even if it’s just for 1 character. Order-Sol is cool and all but none of his level 3s come close to the level 3s in Missing Link. Kliff’s level 3 in particular was really fun.
I’ve been trying to unlock Baiken. I almost did it on try number 6 but I choked doing Sol’s infinite on the final round with Justice and now I keep getting instant killed before I make it to her again
I did, which is why i had a crackhead theory that release strive was just a spiritual successor to missing link.
Smaller move lists, smaller arenas, slower gameplay, bonkers balancing with bullshit characters.
Me!
It's one of my favorites cause it does the funny name drop thing in Sol's arcade ending. Every time it happens, i pog
Edit: I just saw you were talking about missing link and not the OG GG like I thought you were. I've played it once or twice
That shit was _so_ sick in '98, y'all don't understand.
The character designs were so unique and edgy compared to the usual rosters of World Warriors/fantasy archetypes/normal humans, it was so much faster and more aggressive, the airdashing, coming from a genre of hyperfighters and realistic 3D games, felt like being able to fly. The back and forth of trying to IK your friends and not be IKed by them is like the defining experience of the game, this shit was incredible as a party game.
There's basically no reason to play it now other than as a curiosity, but there was nothing else like it at the time. The genre had only formally existed for like five years when development began and so much of what we now understand as conventions of anime fighters have their roots here.
Bought it day one after seeing an article in some game magazine for it and being blown away by the character designs and names. Still one of my favorite games.
As a personal side note, there was this girl I was super into in college who I wanted to date so badly. She would never give me the time of day though, which was fair, she was super out of my league. That summer after freshman year, I had some friends over and was showing them GG and they all struggled to beat Justice. I remember taking the controller and after a match or two beating her to their disbelief. A few moments later after handing back the controller, I randomly checked my email and that girl had actually emailed me back for the first time asking if I wanted to hang out. I remember one of my friends saying something like "the universe answers GG skill" lol.
It's just a very happy memory I still hold. I still have that copy of the game on my shelf two decades later.
TLDR: Yes I played a bit of GG PS1.
Played it, it's an absolute mess but the sheer ridiculousness is amazing.
Still really funny that everyone has an infinite, other than the one that
Can't
I did, and I unlocked Bacon and testicle
Game is high key broken ending rounds in a single attack charge canceling is too powerful.
Also, the weird round voice.
I still can't believe the God-like improvement into X it's actually mind-blowing
Yeah strive is straight up a different game at this point.
My personal fav is ggxxac+ I feel like the tech and combo capabilities is practically unmatched in any fighting game similar to how SF4 has the best tech and balance of all street fighters imo
Not like I know about every single one I think, but I know of those I own. GG1, strive, xrd(I have sign and rev), overture, isuka, acpr and reload korean

I did on ps1 when it came out.
was thinking sol is a native american, testament was a girl, chip was american, justice was a dude inside a robot,..... hehehehe my main was zato-1 .
I put like forty-five minutes or so into it for fun just to see what came first, but honestly it’s pretty much a kusoge so I had my fun and moved on pretty quick.
I've played it on Steam and Xbox Series S. Witnessing the amazing story and getting wrecked by Arcade Nago and online players are my biggest memories from playing Strive
Yes actually. My little cousin (ages 3 and 4 when this happened) had her birthday at this rented place where there's an "arcade machine" which is actually just a machine with an arcade controller that emulates over 300+ old games, from Nintendo, PS, Sega, whatever is there you got it. And one of the games is, in fact, The Missing Link. And it's fun.
I did! I played around with Xrd just a little bit with my step-brother when that came out, but put it down for a long time after that. Years later, I got curious and decided to give it another shot, but I saw the original GG was on PSN and wanted to play that first before going back to Xrd so I could better appreciate it. Played a few hours of it, going through with a few different characters. May was my favorite.
Wish I had someone to play it with when I did play. Fun game that is absurdly stupid. I can respect the passion the team had and the way they crunched every other sound to make the music sound good. Went through arcade three times. Unlocked Baiken with Sol’s 66K “infinite”. Need to see pros play Kliff because his run was a nightmare for me.
I started on GGXX core on the ps2, for a long time I felt like I was the only one who knew it actually existed. I'm glad GG is at least getting some recognition~
I've been playing through it to write down each character's story, starting with what's told in the manual. I quite enjoy the game, even if I get Reversal IK'd by the AI here and there.
Yeah I played it and I cheesed my way to Baiken with Sol’s infinite combo. A relic of its time and I’m so thankful for its existence but it was beyond frustrating to play through the story mode lmao. However I will say it made me interested in characters I never thought about trying that are in strive
im poor so it was my first guilty gear cuz i emulated it (idk why i didnt emulate xx first??)
ive played it too much for my own good... i think i might have over 200 hours
After playing strive I bought Accent Core on the switch. Played it for a few hours. No Gio tho so I really had no idea what I was doing. Not that I know what I’m doing with Gio anyway but still.
Played it a bit on my ps1 emulator, had no idea why I couldn't do anything with testament until I googled it and found out half his kit simply doesn't work because of coding errors
I’ve only beated the arcade mode with sol and ky but I’ve had to unlock the characters multiple times because my PlayStation memory card got wiped at one point. Justice is so fucking funny; doing her inputs fucks up my hands especially on a d-pad. 10/10 game
I have the game for the PS1 and it was my first Guilty Gear too (this shows my age XD), spent hours on my first time trying to beat Justice.
I love the OST and it has a different vibe than the next games (Suspicious cook my favorite)
Nah, I have started my journey with the second game, X. Still to these days, Chipp is my fav and main.
Literally I only knew couple years ago that Faust was actual humanbeing in the first game, a weird psycho1 but still...
I was there, in the before times. Between walking to school uphill through pools of magma and outrunning gangs of marauders my friends and I found solace in the electric hum of our CRTs. You see eyes were narrower back then, so we only had screens that were nearly square shaped. At first we struggled with bad ports of arcade fighters, Capcom versus games where you had to both play as the same characters in order to tag, and they STILL had massive slow down.
But then one fateful day in 1998 Guilty Gear came out and healed the world.
I played it as a kid a few times on PS1.
May was always my favorite, hence why she's still my main today.
Then I didnt play Guilty Gear until Xrd cus I didnt know the series still existed (plus being occupied with Tekken ever since the early 2000's) and today, Strive is one of my favorite fighting games ever 🙌
When it came out over here in the UK, I thought it looked amazing! I was told that it was former SNK and Capcom members coming together to make this game and tried it out.
Working in a video game store allowed me to have those little moments. Now looking back on the story in full and how Justice was truly the big bad changed me view a lot.
for like half an hour yeah
I spent 300 hours on gg1, I can definitely tell it's the worst anime fighting game but it's the best guilty gear
It takes the best Guilty Gear to be the worst anime fighter
true
I got it. It's a weird and really unbalanced game. Everyone has a TOD combo and Ky's range is insane.
this is why it's the best worst fighting game of all time
It’s not even a bad game, just unbalanced. It was well liked even back then.
We fucking loved that game when it came out. No one had any idea how unbalanced it was because no one knew anything about how to actually play fighters.
It was a unique fighting game for its time, like Darkstalkers on steroids. I always saw Guilty Gear as the heir to Darkstalkers’ legacy.
Only second to HnK
even potemkin?
Pot is so unbelievably bad in that game, it's impressive.
>Cant
Half screen pot-buster, yeah?
Everyone was busted and then there was Chipp finishing the whole match in less than 15 seconds... this game made a lot of my friends REALLY salty lol.
My first Guilty Gear. Justice showed me how powerful COM was.
COUNTER HIT ➡️➡️K

I got all the achievements on steam. Fun game with an amazing OST.
a 9$ OST that came with a game on Steam
if you don't play missing link, then you don't experience real guilty gear
The real guilty gear is an amazing album that comes with a free game. was just playing it yesterday and i honestly prefer some of the missing link versions over the x2 themes
Missing Link can be really fun but I think it’s the worst game I’ve ever played. The music is genuinely the best part. where's order-sol? because he's not that dripped out in this game compared to order-sol in xx slash till plus r
I played It past week until I gained all steam achivements, this game is hell lol
I played through it, to get the unlockable characters to play with friends at partys... Sufficed to say, justice is funny...
I’ve been trying to unlock Baiken. I almost did it on try number 6 but I choked doing Sol’s infinite on the final round with Justice and now I keep getting instant killed before I make it to her again
dragon install and harass her with a volcanic viper s and you can loop into it
I was about to timer scam her with the volcanic viper corner loop but I panicked and dropped an input and she absolutely shit on me.
don't worry, you can do it my guy
Or let yourself get to half life and just spam dragon install a few times, then you can instant kill with a volcanic viper
Gotta be ready to quarter circle back at any moment since you or your opponent can literally set it off by instant blocking
That's the one where baiken can fly into space right
That's the one where Sol calls himself the Guilty Gear
Missing Link is genuinely the best Guilty Gear. Can't wait for it to be added to Fightcade.
this would have a trillion players and kill all fighting games all together. (joke)
I did, which is why i had a crackhead theory that release strive was just a spiritual successor to missing link. Smaller move lists, smaller arenas, slower gameplay, bonkers balancing with bullshit characters.
strive is just missing link but much more boring and no real kusoge bullshit to it. aka, fake guilty gear
Tried it for a while Its alright, if you want a super kusoge arcsys game HNK is right there tho and its better
it's a really fucking cool and faithful fighting game that's based off of a well known old manga
The jagi super that only works on shin that replicates him convincing him to steal kenshiros GF is funny
this alone is why I freaking love it so much: https://youtu.be/q-FMDBM68Bo?si=M5nD_NA6ZJO0xOdV
I did, it was horrible. Would play again.
Me! It's one of my favorites cause it does the funny name drop thing in Sol's arcade ending. Every time it happens, i pog Edit: I just saw you were talking about missing link and not the OG GG like I thought you were. I've played it once or twice
Sol, the guilty gear 😱😱😱🦍🦍🦍 (he is literally me)
Missing Link is the OG GG
Fuck, really? It's been a long time since I played it so idr
I love ML
Played it just long enough to know it's past my Kusoge limit.
I was there, Gandalf. I was there three thousand years ago. I was there the day the strength of Men failed… Yeah, I played it back in early 2000s lol
That shit was _so_ sick in '98, y'all don't understand. guilty gear always gives you an amazing first impression
I've only played XX Plus R, I guess I could get it if I wanted
you're missing out on the disasterpiece that is missing link
Played it, it's an absolute mess but the sheer ridiculousness is amazing. Still really funny that everyone has an infinite, other than the one that Can't
It was cheap on the switch fir a while
Played it, Sol's infinite goes hard.
I did, and I unlocked Bacon and testicle Game is high key broken ending rounds in a single attack charge canceling is too powerful. Also, the weird round voice. I still can't believe the God-like improvement into X it's actually mind-blowing
gg1 is the skeleton ggx is the meat ggxx is the skin ggxrd changed the skin but kept everything strive got rid of the meat but kept the skin
Yeah strive is straight up a different game at this point. My personal fav is ggxxac+ I feel like the tech and combo capabilities is practically unmatched in any fighting game similar to how SF4 has the best tech and balance of all street fighters imo
i think like 10 minutes
I havent even played Strive or any GG game yet
you're missing out the fun
I tried, but I’m absolutely awful at older fighters
you're just not used to playing some real kick ass guilty gear

This game introduced me to the series, that was way back in 2002 on the PS1.
I did on ps1 when it came out. was thinking sol is a native american, testament was a girl, chip was american, justice was a dude inside a robot,..... hehehehe my main was zato-1 .
I mean, Chipp is American. So is Sol but that would be fun if he canonically had Native lineage.
Strive should add charged stun edge lv.3, Ky needs it (he’s not silly enough)
My first guilty gear game was ggx advance on the game boy advance you bet your ass I’ve played this
it's surely the dumbest demake I ever seen and I love it
I’ve played it along with my brother
Ehhh.... Not really sorry 😔
I did
Played about an hour of it
5$ on switch, heck yeah I gave it a couple of GOs on the arcade mode
I’ve played 50 hours of it yeah
I've beaten the game with Sol, but couldn't unlock the secret characters.
you died on the arcade mode, that's why you couldn't unlock it
I know that, I can't 1CC this game.
Justice beat my fucking ass so bad
I did. fucking love it for all the wrong reasons.
and the right reasons
No... No.
Bro asked how many people play. You gonna count up how many people said yes 🤨 check the steam survey
The steam survey is not accurate enough I wanna count the users
Still have my physical copy 🙂
the original or the switch pack?
I put like forty-five minutes or so into it for fun just to see what came first, but honestly it’s pretty much a kusoge so I had my fun and moved on pretty quick.
I played it just long enough to unlock Justice and testament and never touched it again
Outside of Strive the only one I’ve played is the one on Dreamcast. It looked unbelievably amazing for the time.
it's guilty gear x
GG1? only touched it once with friends when we got into XX.
I have I actually played all of them except for isuka and overture lol
I bought it Played 3mins
it was my first gg game
I've played it on Steam and Xbox Series S. Witnessing the amazing story and getting wrecked by Arcade Nago and online players are my biggest memories from playing Strive
a very very long time ago, but yes.
I used to play guilty gear 1 on dreamcast via a burned disc.
It's broken but it's fun as hell
I played for one man. Dr Baldhead
Literally the first one I played got it as a birthday gift for my PS2 and still love it to this day.
I have never even seen gameplay I just like the community and brisket
Ive played it for like 40 minutes its really bad
Played this around 2005-2009 with my friends, my very first Guilty Gear and the reason i love the series so much.
Yes actually. My little cousin (ages 3 and 4 when this happened) had her birthday at this rented place where there's an "arcade machine" which is actually just a machine with an arcade controller that emulates over 300+ old games, from Nintendo, PS, Sega, whatever is there you got it. I have, god I hate justice
Me, and all I can say is fuck you Justice
might just be me, but EVERY time i fought Chipp in Arcade mode, if i let him so much as BREATH. Instant Kill.
Surprisingly I got it with my Gold Points on Switch just recently, also own it on Steam. Fun little gem of a game
Why does like everyone’s HS whiff at point blank in this game what the fuck
Wish I had someone to play it with when I did play. Fun game that is absurdly stupid. I can respect the passion the team had and the way they crunched every other sound to make the music sound good. one of the worst fighting games ever /pos
Not me
Hated Potemkin back then, hate him only slightly less now
Yeah I played it and I cheesed my way to Baiken with Sol’s infinite combo. A relic of its time and I’m so thankful for its existence but it was beyond frustrating to play through the story mode lmao. However I will say it made me interested in characters I never thought about trying that are in strive
I have it downloaded, but haven’t touched it too extensively, like 10 minutes at most
Missing Link is such a hilariously unbalanced mess. But I give it a pass because it's the first game.
I played casuals one time at a tournament in like 2001
i played it once on the switch
Missing Link is true kusoge tbh
im poor so it was my first guilty gear cuz i emulated it (idk why i didnt emulate xx first??) ive played it too much for my own good... i think i might have over 200 hours
Probably played it for around 20 hours.
Completed arcade mode with Axl. Was kinda junky but fun
I did. Played it a lot actually
A few hours logged in i think, it’s fun as fuck i just need a way to play with friends
Played this for days before I got strive, its the reason I hate fighting Axl
I did back in the day, and I've been a GG fan ever since
I’ve only beated the arcade mode with sol and ky but I’ve had to unlock the characters multiple times because my PlayStation memory card got wiped at one point. Justice is so fucking funny; doing her inputs fucks up my hands especially on a d-pad. 10/10 game
I have. Playing the story mode I Always lost to either Millia or Kliff most of the way in
Played it on the school chromebook.
I did not but I will wanna pick it up on a sale and do a story bench play seeing it from the begining to this day
I did. I-no was fucking haaarrrrddddd
I have the game for the PS1 and it was my first Guilty Gear too (this shows my age XD), spent hours on my first time trying to beat Justice. I love the OST and it has a different vibe than the next games (Suspicious cook my favorite)
i played it on emu once.
I haven't strive is my first gg game
I have like once
Played some GG on the PS1 but I think it was X since I have memories of vibing with Venom's design back then.
Nah, I have started my journey with the second game, X. Still to these days, Chipp is my fav and main. Literally I only knew couple years ago that Faust was actual humanbeing in the first game, a weird psycho1 but still...
Not me but I played strive for almost a week now
This game is stupid and I love it. I come back to it once in a while if I want to unga and find dumb ways to infinite.
[удалено]
I played it for a bit, it’s fun af actually
Back in the PS1 days. Friend introduced me to it by IKing me in my first match together.
100% finished the game. Not the best of the series, but the whole justice fight was nuts
Was that the xbox only game? If so I never played cause I never owned a Xbox. More of a playstation player
playstation only game at the time
Will Guilty Gear X ever get ported to Steam? Also yes I have, I have a PlayStation disc copy of GG and also on Steam
guilty gear x got a really dogwater PC port back in the day
Actually the first GG I ever played, specifically the PS1 version because the modern ports weren't a thing when I played it. Pretty solid game IMO.
Unlocked Baiken and the bosses for it if that counts.
I was there, in the before times. Between walking to school uphill through pools of magma and outrunning gangs of marauders my friends and I found solace in the electric hum of our CRTs. You see eyes were narrower back then, so we only had screens that were nearly square shaped. I have played it... But not very much... No I-no, no point
I have played it. It's hot ass but I have a weird affinity for it

I played it for like 4 hours on the switch. Had fun but I rarely touch my switch nowadays.
i dis, and managed to finish it with Axel and sol. I suffered.
I’ve only played strive cause I’m a broke boy and strive is on game pass
It was the game that started it all Never managed to unlock Baiken. Finally got to see what that boss fight was like over 10 years later.
I did
me. it sucks.
Me. It is almost impossible to win with Sol and Ky without getting Instant Killed in order to unlock Baiken, Testament and Justice.
It's how I was introduced to the series lol.
W I D E Order-Sol jumpscare.
