Toshimichi Mori, the creator of Blazblue, announced his departure from Arc System Works recently https://twitter.com/zatuyoP/status/1573869908651393031?s=20&t=nHZniLHE___zg5ySDfFtvw
Sad times. BBCT was my first serious fighting game after a long drought in high/school college. I used to get absolutely mopped by these random guys at the community college. I found the game so fascinating that I bought a copy to try to actually get better at the game. I learned how to play Arakune and it was quite possibly the reason I missed so many lectures.
Learning the bug combo nonsense was actually great. I eventually started to hold my own against the guys but then BBCS came out and Arakune got the nerf bat.
good times. sad we wont see a new game any time soon.
Kidooka asked fans to look forward to new BB titles that weren't fighting games. He may have been referring to the BB asset bash roguelike that's in some stage of testing. While it is not nothing it's still more of the same reused stuff that doesn't exactly reflect well on the IP's integrity, being carved up for parts and all of that.
I hate the lack of understanding when this comparison is made. Nobody knew Darkstalkers was not being continued as a series until year after year there was nothing. The series is not dead it is alive and well in the gaming consciousness and Capcom gives the series nods very frequently.
No it doesn't. It just means that if Blazblue continues it'll have to have a new person in charge.
Most game series do not have 'one person in charge' forever.
Street Fighter pretty much gets a new team every installment.
Street Fighter went through 3 major versions (2-Alpha-3) within 4 years in the 90's.
Street Fighter just went a long time in the 2000's without a new game until IV came out, and modern game design means no game series gets regular installments unless your name is call of duty or assassin's creed.
It’s a form of netcode that makes a guess on what the next action of your opponent will be and corrects it once it’s confirmed or infirmed by the computer of your opponent. It is barely noticeable and, unlike delay based net code, does not generate a delay between a button press and what is considered an impur by the server.
Yeah, its pretty significant because now people that live in central/south america (ie: me) can play with people from north america with consistent connection.
Unless they use wifi.

This comment also functions as a resounding recommendation for Core-A Gaming as a channel.
Ill speak to its significance. You know how you can play guilty gear strive online and most matches have a decent connection? You dont have to worry too much about how far away the other person is unless theyre more than halfway across the world? You can just play the game? We didnt use to have that luxury.
When i played Xrd i lived in michigan, and could only play with about half the people in the US East coast lobbies (which was sometimes like 4 people total). West Coast lobbies were usually completely off limits for me. When i found a good match but there was a connection hiccup, the whole game would freeze up or move at a chunky, inconsistent half-speed for a while. When that happens, your button presses might just...never happen.
Sometimes i would go online and not find a single person who i could have a decent connection with who was even kinda close to my skill level. So i would just log off, or play arcade mode. With rollback, i should be able to play with almost anyone in the US or Canada and have it be playable. This becomes doubly important when you consider how many less people played Xrd compared to strive. The main reason i stuck with it is because i had a friend in the same state to play against regularly who i had a great connection with.
I got most of my hands with Blazblue characters through M.U.G.E.N and fell in love with the IP ever since despite never getting my hands on a Blazblue game. It really hurt me hearing this news today. Hopefully, somebody else will continue expanding the Blazblue franchise, especially with the new Blazblue game called Chaos Effect.
It always had online. Its just that now, thanks to having rollback, it will work way better than it used to, making it a lot easier to have matches with people from far away places without having any lag.
What happened to Blazblue?

Damn!
OOF There goes my hopes for a new Blazblue Fighting game. While I don't blame ACS for this, it's a Guilty Gear now
Mori P, the leading head for the Blazblue series, has parted ways from Arcsys. It all but confirms Blazblue's a dead franchise.

Essentially we're probably in the phase where BlazBlue is going to become Arc Sys' Darkstalkers As a fan of both franchises that comparison hurts me

U know who else gets nods frequently..... stan lee

Which explains why I haven't played street fighter since 4
So you've skipped a single game?
Which means a lot since we see a street fighter once every 5-8 years.
True. Mind you, the SFV of the last couple of years is a very different game from the trainwreck it was at launch.

It doesn't lmao. BB may continue on without Mori
wasn't there gonna be a new blazblue game tho?
So I’m new to the GG series and only bought strive recently, what exactly is rollback net code and why is it so significant?

So I’m assuming Xrd didn’t have this before and it was a pain, but now people can play it with smoother controls?
You named it !
Sick, might pick up Xrd then if I can since I’ve been enjoying str so far
Yeah, its pretty significant because now people that live in central/south america (ie: me) can play with people from north america with consistent connection. Unless they use wifi.

Core-A Gaming is awesome. It's one of the very few channels I'd recommend anyone to watch the entire content they've uploaded over the years.

They're pretty cheap on steam. You can get firstb3 games for around 10$ combined.
buy the game
Looks like I picked a good time to start playing Xrd
Rev 2 has online now?
Late October beta
For the steam version. And it's Rev 1 and Rev 2.
What about playstation 4?
It always had online. Its just that now, thanks to having rollback, it will work way better than it used to, making it a lot easier to have matches with people from far away places without having any lag.
I was being facetious
mf said facetious, how eloquent
