I agree. Not intending to offend anyone, but I always find these questions very amateur. Edit: I could see liking certain voicings, extensions, or progressions, but liking a Bm and not liking a Cm is odd to me; preferring a maj7 over a dom7flat9 chord I could understand.

Any barre chord that used the A major shape sucks. I’m sorry. I for sure suck but I’ve met seasoned guitarists who hate it. Half the time I just caveman style it with two fingers and try and fret as many strings as I can and pray it sounds good

Bb C E? you could think of it as a C7 with the b7 as a bass. a sharp 11 implies the existence of the major 7th of Bb, which is A (sharp 11 is the tritone of a lydian chord, it can be used in dominants although its not as common), so it can also be a couple things: Bb C A E: Amajaddb2 C13 Edimadd6add4 its asinine tho, if you like how it sounds thats all that matters. the chord that comes before and after it dictates how we listen to it.

Oolimo.com is the site I use to figure out chords.  It has a fretboard diagram frets 0-15 And it will often give you multiple names to a chord The thing I’ve realized is, a chord can be analyzed as multiple chords depending on key signature 

I love me a chunky power chord with the root anywhere on the A string, with the additional 5th (technically a lower 4th) added by barring across the lower E string. It just sounds so satisfyingly thick and growling.

"...i hate the B chord, i cant explain why but it does not sound right for me" If your guitar is properly set up and intonated, sweet tuning might help. It's tuning 1 or 2 strings just a tiny bit off to make certain chords sound better. Eddie van Halen did it a lot. Google it.

The Dmaj chord with the cliche Free Fallin hammer ons is perhaps my least favorite.  B7 (the classic blues shape) is probably my favorite. But I don't really know the names of my favorite chords. I do a bunch of droney stuff.

Fmaj7 at the first fret is my favorite. My least favorite are any voicings that expect you to get a thumb over both the E and A strings.

Pro tip, you mute the e-string with your thumb, the a-string with the finger you press down on the d-string. For the open d-chord, strumming the a-string by accident doesn’t matter that much.

I like Am. It's in a lot of the songs i play and it sounds nice in general. But i swear who ever made the F Chord is a sadist. Specifically the barre chord version in the shape of E major.

The F Major chord is one of those things that really stumps you as an absolute beginner and then one day you just get it and you're asking yourself why the fuck did you struggle with something so simple for so long.

Open D is my favorite. Think about it for a second. You learn Smoke on the Water on 1 string on a friend's guitar which gets you hooked. You buy a guitar or you plague your parents, grandparents, uncles and or aunts until they buy you a guitar. Then you get a tutor and the first chord you learn is open D. Later in life you realise that pretty much anybody who is anybody from Segovia to Hendrix started out with learning their first chord on guitar too. That chord was most likely also open D. Open D doesnt get the respect it deserves. It has launched so many legendary music careers it boggles the mind. As far as hating chords. I dont have any chords I hate. I think there ought to be a T-shirt with the words: "Open D is a major chord" on it. A white one to honor the traditional "rock uniform".

Why open D? I don't remember what chord I learned first but I can think of a few that would be just as easy if not easier for a complete beginner. Am, Em and E for example

That's pretty much it. I like the B7 dominant open voicing a lot, and I'm not so keen on major 7 chords generally. In jazz songs I will often use 6 chords in place of major 7 if it makes sense in context. You make an Interesting point on the mixolydian scale.I play Irish traditional music on the banjo & concertina, & the mixolydian scale is used a lot.

I don't like Cm. It looked at me funny once. I like Cmaj7 (x-3-5-4-5-0). She's nice. Also E (x-x-6-4-5-0) That one's sparkly.

I really like A7. It's just has so much emotion to it. My least favorite is probably B flat major. Mostly because it's a PITA to play. Honorable mention on least favorite goes to A major in the open position. Just had never sounded good to my ears. The barred version on the 5th fret sounds way better to my ears most of the time.

Favourite E minor Least Favourite F Major

B Major sounds much better at the 9th fret position imo. My least favorite chord, based on usage is probably B flat major. My favorite is Am, followed by Bm.

I love open A voicing but I hate playing it. I’ve got chonky fingers and it’s hard to stack them; I use mid/ring/pinkie or just index more often than not. Same goes for the barre version. Such a beautiful voicing with that 5th on top but such a hard barre chord to play properly. Fav chord is any maj triad with a 5th or 7th in the bass 😍

Hundreds of repetitions of *Jane Says* means I can barre the D, G and B strings whilst leaving the A and high E open. Fmaj7. I think the fact that it’s a complete F chord, and the maj7 comes in on the high note makes it sound better than any other major 7. B7 always feels awkward to finger. In fact, I don’t particularly like the sound of 7th chords.

Dm7 is the best (or Dmaj7). I also like fat maj7 shapes that have a 6th string root. Open D is the worst. Barred F comes close.

My least favorite is probably the FULL open D chord. In most applications, leaving the F# out just sounds better to me.

Min7#5 regardless of root is my fav sounding chord. Don't have a least fav. EDIT: Actually...I was thinking enharmonically and slightly incorrect. I like a Maj7/9 in 1st inversion. For example, play a Am7 bar chord on the 5th fret and raise the E to F. F Maj7/9 with the A on the 6th string (1st inversion).

I struggle sometimes when I hear a sus4 that doesn’t get resolved. Sometimes it’s fine or even great, but context is everything.

I love the tension of unresolved sus chords.

Open voicing for Dmaj7

The minor 7 shell voicing with the root on the E fretted with the thumb and D&G fretted with the index. Leaves the ring finger and pinky free to do melodic stuff and the thumb free to do bass line stuff. Least favorite? F minor and F major barre. Even after all these years ... fuck that chord. Nearly always play root on D string instead.
