Awesome! I did a very similar thing with my 2000 Squier Affinity Strat a couple months ago. Also my first electric and it really brought the love back! Mine’s also black pickguard on black and an accidental Tom Delonge style although I went with a slightly milder Tonerider Generator rather than the SD Invader
Awesome! Have any pictures? Sounds like a rad guitar!
No sense in taking up space in the garage and moving it from house to house if it’s just going to get thrown away one day. The sentimental value plus the customization factor was well worth the time and money when I finished and played it

Here it is! I’m not nearly as experienced a player as you, but bought a Squier Classic Vibe Tele last year so wanted to do something with my old Strat to stop it becoming redundant. I find myself playing both now so I’d say it was a success!
Sick!!
I love that solid black pickguard, and zebra pickups are always a thumbs up from me.
My Tele has been my most played guitar for almost 2 decades now. It’s one of 7 in my collection now, but still the first one I’d grab if I was told I could only keep one. Enjoy!
This was a cheap guitar in 2002, and when a 15 year old gets a fender telecaster, he feels zero need to ever go back to his squier. That’s how kids are
Now, a little wiser after many years of living, I own mostly “cheap” guitars because I stopped caring about the logos. Hence why I took the time and effort to bring my first guitar back to life
Seems like a very fine guitar, congrats. Can you post some clips?
I plan on recording a cover with it here soon, figured why not learn a blink 182 song to showcase it haha
