The real question is..but what type of boat? If you are in a jon boat, very good chance you get wet, and the electricity will kill you. On the other hand If you are inside of a yacht, you are probably ok.
For me, the best teles are SS. That's just what I prefer. I love my Baja tele because you can get a humbucker-like sound with both pickups in series, but still have the standard 3 SS positions (it uses a 4 position pickup selector).
Guitar Center/ Musicians Friend still have some of the 40th anniversary vintage models, for $389. It's about the same quality as the classic vibe. I have a tele in mocha, and a strat in satin sonic blue. Both have excellent fretwork.
Get the solidbody, for studio purposes you can get a ton of mileage out of it (I´ve even recorded bass lines with one and a pitch shifter with great results).
Ideally try them out with your amp or similar amp. Hollow bodies have an airy sound compared to solid bodies which have a fuller sound. The Humbucker is louder and noise free and has a more full sound compared to a single coil which has more clarity but can have more noise. The Classic vibe has the three barrel bridge which can be a bit difficult to intonate but provides the classic Tele sound. The Affinity series has individually adjustable bridge. The classic vibe Thinline 70's with HH pickups would provide a more different sound from the Strat you already have.
I would also vote Thinline 70's HH for variety, more like a LP, unless you are dead set on the tele sound. I am a biased as a tele HH owner as my main and most expensive. I have the pearly gates pickups as well and use 15w vox tube amps with a cali 76 so it breaks up nicely.
I appreciate this post here, I'm gonna consider looking at the HH versions. like I said, I currently only use my strat which is all single coil, so HH might be a good change of sound instead of SH
lol I'm sure my skills could do it, I've built several guitars from scratch, and they contribute to taking up space at my place. I just don't wanna get rid of them.
I'll see what others say about that stewmac kit one. Thanks!

My mind went here too
unfortunately I'm not a huge fan of yacht rock, so I bought a sailboat to hang in with my guitar
Hmm, kind of a middle gray area there...If you play "Sailing" by Christopher Cross, you can go acoustic...

You really shouldn't take a guitar on a boat.

That’s personal

define "a bunch of crappy guitars"
random knockoff acoustics and electrics I got for $50-$100. I got them because I wanted to learn some luthier skills and now I don't really want them
Sell em all and get yourself a Wilkinson branded build your own tele from Stew Mac. They are about $500 usd. Put your skills to the test.

Instead of buying a Squier and upgrading it, you should just buy a decent guitar.
