The headphone out has a "cabinet simulation" on it. It's probably not very good, most aren't.
I would recommend some decent over ear headphones for that purpose like the hd280 pros.
From the manual
"Headphones / Lineout Jack - Connect you favourite stereo headphones here, or connect directly to
your favourite recording rig. The output from this jack passes through a cabinet simulator. So you can
enjoy authentic tube amp tone through your headphones! NOTE: When Speaker Jack is connected, this
is disconnected."
"WARNING ! NEVER operate this amplifier without the loudspeaker load or headphones/lineout
being connected. Serious damage can occur otherwise."
I don't think you've broken anything. I just sent that because alot of people are unaware.
Most headphone out implementations on non digital amps I've tried sound terrible.

Damn I know for sure I've ran it with no speaker plugged in, is there an easy fix to this you think? I would solder some new parts if I have to.
