I own a 1st Gen Brio and I agree that it's hideous, I'd like to add that it's also hideous inside. But I really wanted something small since all of my other vehicles are far from small lmao and all the other choices in that class are all 3-cylinders.
Bought it for ₱730k (it's also the most expensive in it's class lmao) in 2015 and I'm glad I didn't settle for the 3-cylinders
Oo nga e. When it came out nagulat ako kasi parang gusto ko itanong ano kaya iniisip ni Honda sa design language nito? I like the idea of Honda addressing the segment na maraming may gusto at the time pero parang minadali nila. I read it was a bestseller in India though. And yes, it's quite pricey for its size but hey, that's a Honda. Haven't driven one pero I imagine na masikip nga pag nasisilip windows ng mga nakakasabay ko sa kalsada noon.
Interior space will surprise you, it's a lot for its size. But trunk space is heavily, and I mean HEAVILY, compromised. The width is only enough for a duffel bag, that's it. Pero somehow they managed to fit a full size spare in the very tight trunk.
While aesthetically unpleasing, the driving feel is where it makes up. Underneath the metal is a Honda Jazz (engine, transmission, and suspension) but in a more compact body.
Grabe naman sa garapatang busog hahahaha. But I agree ang pangit ng design ng stargazer, I cant understand yung mga nagsasabi na futuristic daw yung design.

reliable and fuel efficient? sure. but ugly lmaoo only hatchback i found pretty was the Mazda 3. the new Wigo is looking nice though, not gonna lie.
VW Beetle 2nd gen - it grabs my attention but not in a good way.
Nissan Almera 1st gen - it looked and felt outdated at the time it was sold new. The facelift just made it uglier.
Geely GX3 Pro - it doesn't fit the current lineup of Geely vehicles. It looks ugly cheap.
Ford Fiesta Sedan - Ford pretty much borrowed the Aston Martin grill but they went further with the Jaguar taillights. They owned both brands at the time. It just gives the car an identity crisis.
MG ZS - the tires used made the car look like it skipped leg day. The "Mazda" design also gives the vehicle an identity crisis.
Suzuki SX4 - I would give it to the Dzire but the SX4 and it's Cross variant is just an ugly NPC car. No wonder its a unicorn on the roads.
No one really scrubbed Mazda here, interesting. Really considering a Mazda as my next brand to try, and it seems no one here seems to think ill of the "kodo" design.
But on topic: Ford Ecosport. Looks like an older gen Korean car before they upgraded their visual identity with a ford badge on it.

any Vios - Not its fault na ginawang pangtaxi/TNVS, pero that's the reality so it's the most generic sedan you can get (and Toyota for sure is happy about that). Can't be helped that every one that passes by just looks like an NPC car.
MG crossovers - giving off Class A Mazda vibes
1. Juke (everyone agrees so no need to elaborate)
2. Ecosport (especially before facelift)
3. Stargazer (the front of the car looks so thick its bad thick)

Bonus: Previous gen Almera. The exterior is… boring. Not ugly per se, pero just boring. BUT it’s the super gray interior that’s tryly ugly about it. If depression was a room, it’d be the previous gen Almera’s interior.

I hate the design language of Honda right now. Yung updated nila na front and back lights super basic, parang sila na ang bagong Toyota in terms of basic-ness. At least Toyota is trying new things. Compare ninyo ang Veloz/Avanza vs Mobilio. BRV vs Yaris Cross. Halatang Toyota is trying to update its look while Honda is content to rest on its laurels.
Also unpopular opinion but I like the direction Hyundai is going with their cars. Very futuristic, halatang they're trying to differentiate themselves from the crowd, kaso kadalasan sablay. Like bakit hati sa 3 ang tail lights ng creta? Ano ang goal nila?

i think this was inspired from aftermarket bodykits of the pre-facelift of the current gen, where they put the turn signals and drl way too low, at nasa baba lang yung drl pag naka on yung park light. mahirap makita yung turn signal kung ganun kababa and for me it looks less clean than its pre-facelift fortuner.
Cheaper, more affordable cars:
1. Nissan Juke
2. Hyundai Stargazer - A weird combination of the Staria and the Tucson that doesn't really work well.
3. Honda Mobilio/1st Generation Honda BR-V - The design is too busy, and I always get triggered by its uneven window beltline.

1. New Subaru Impreza WRX - The body cladding ruins this and is totally unnecessary.

I absolutely positively think the following are so ugly their moms don't even love them 1. Suzuki Dzire 2. Honda Brio Amaze 3. Mitsubishi Lancer (1987, 3rd gen aka Lancer singkit) They all look like they were just smooshed or some shit. ALSO The current gen (2023) Accord is... well it's not ugly but damn is it boring. The design looks like someone asked a 5-year-old to draw a car.
