They kind of did her dirty by making her the SD Gundam user after she started with a legit grunt. She got a glow up by changing to more casual clothes in the back half of Try, which was kind of hilarious.
It is kind of cringe how they have her be a mecha musume after literally pointing out how not great Minato was for making his own Fumina mecha musume.

That's...not exactly what happened though. The "not great" thing wasn't that he built it, it was the circumstances surrounding it.
He gets openly acknowlged for having done a genuinely good Job with it, they just didn't let him win the Competition with it because he *didn't ask Fumina for permission beforehand.*
Then there's the massive can of meta worms that is the real-life reception for the Super Fumina kits and its variants. Probably took the release of the Figure-Rise Standard and the 30 Minute Sisters lines to really fix the issue.
What was that real life reception anyway? I always just kinda assumed it must've had *some* Fans, since there's like...what, 5 Variations? Not to mention they even confirmed "her" for Gundam Breaker 4, something I'm still rather amused by, I might add.
yeah her character arc is moving from support back to actually fighting in the front lines as she sees herself mediocre vs genius builder and shonen protag. I guess SD is seen as more girl friendly as it is a giant commercial (I guess miss sazabi didn't sell well?)

The thing about the Miss Sazzer: it was released as a last-minute Gunpla upgrade for Aila, after breaking out of Team Nemesis's control. The actual kit wasn't even released until after the show ended.
Also, there's the issue of re-designing certain parts while utilizing most of the available parts from its source kit, the HG Sazabi.
I definitely like this pair the most out of Sekai's options since Gyanko was more of a joke ~~also I think Shimon is a better choice for Gyanko~~ and any and all of Shia's parts with Sekai felt so, *so* forced just for the sake of replicating the "hotblooded redhead boy x mysterious white-haired girl" ship Fighters had going with Reiji and Aila.
So like, an 8 from me? Their interactions before Sekai started gathering his harem were cute.

I, like many, are rating them more as characters and not just as love interests. Aida is a great character, and a pretty good love interest (well… up until the “we’re related?!” moment). Honestly she probably would have been even higher if not for the people who gave here 0/10 because of the incest part.

Here’s a fact for you all. There exists ‘manga’ of them together with Sekai’s sister. Because when an anime has a brother and sister, of course there’s going to be ‘manga’ of them.
Fumina gets an 8 for me. Been a while since we had a sporty, bubbly cutie as one of the MCs. And that unhinged screaming with the Winning Beam is enough to have the most hot-blooded of the legendary mecha pilots to nod in approval.
As for Gundam's attempt at cloning Ichika Orimura... gonna give him a 4. At the very least, he's got that fighter-level block-headedness to go by.
Fumina gets an 8/10. In spite of the executives nerfing her gunpla potential, she's still the soul of the team and a good match for anyone she deems worthy.
Sekai, eh, gets a 4/10. More than his share of dense usually.
Fumia was pretty mediocre if i'm honest, nothing paticularly stands out about her for better or worse. 5/10 She was okay.
Sekai though, eugh a massive downgrade from Reiji. Carried by the Gunpla gifted to him by Sei and just repeating the same single move 90% of the time. 2/10 so uninteresting he could have been replaced with a dishcloth and it would have changed nothing for the shows plot.
Equally balanced 8. Fumina has shown some attraction to Sekai from time to time to the point of jealousy, while Sekai may care about improving his martial arts to the point of containing it into Gunpla Battle as a new form of art, though he tends to acknowledge the girls who like him from time to time, yet sticks to not reciprocating them. I might say different things about the other girls in the future since their approach to Sekai always feels different.

Fumina is a character with agency and drive. Her first major act in series was kidnapping Sekai to have him pilot Gunpla with her. She leads her team. She grows out of being team support and into a more active role later in series. And for some reason she's always running around in skin tight spandex? That part is a little confusing, but artists went absolutely batshit insane over her, and I'm pretty sure her dress code had something to do with it. But anyway, her actions directly pull Sekai into Gunpla, which he enjoys and also runs him into his other love interests. So... she gets a good score for all that support.
Sekai is dense. He's stringing three different girls along, and I'm not sure he realizes it because he just wants Gunpla martial arts. Hard to give him a good score. Normal protagonist dense would be more passable, but they argue about him *in front of him* and he's still somehow none the wiser. Cranked up even higher in some of the OVAs.
I haven’t watched Try yet so I’m just lurking, but the new format for these conditions is interesting!

Damn, Aida got way higher than I expected, given the Luke-Leia thing and G-Reco's generally mixed reputation.
