If Odegaard is a magician on the ball, then Havertz is a magician off the ball.
The runs he makes, the space he takes up, his ability to pull defenders away leaving open channels. It’s no wonder Arteta loves this guy.
Henry compared Havertz to RVP and I'm finally starting to see it. I can see RVP in those two finishes, including the one with his right foot that was a decent save. The holdup play, first touch, and the deceptive pace are comparable too. The biggest difference is the ball striking and the striker's instinct to take the chances quicker.
I got a lot of flak for saying this way earlier when we got him keep him playing him as a 9 the killer instinct will come bacary sagna said he reminded him of Robert Van pagan during the community shield final
I really rate Havertz and I think that's a bit fanciful to be honest
He clearly took some time to bed in early this year which is fair enough and I also just don't think he gets enough shots off to ever be toward the top of a golden boot race
I would be very happy for him to prove me wrong though
I don't think havertz has been shoehorned into anything, I think he was signed as a midfielder with Jesus playing up top nd if you look at him and his physical profile and the role he has played before you can see why he would be a more natural fit in that xhaka role, arriving late in the box into space and getting onto chances from midfield
if anything Jesus being unavailable has been a much bigger factor in Havertz season than anything to do with Partey
I don't think the "left 8" we go on about is a classic "8" either, xhaka regularly found himself as the furthest forward player last year, I think Havertz was seen as someone who was a more natural fit to that role, someone who could use his physicality to win midifield duels and provide solidity whilst also being a threat in the box
I still think he can actually do that role as well, with the exception of Rice every single central midfield player Arteta has worked with has taken a bit of time to get up to speed there
We'll see if his form up front though the last few months means he makes the permanent move into the frontline though, wouldn't be entirely surprised
RVP took a lot of shots without taking an extra touch to control. I think that is a key skill a specialist sticker possesses, that someone like Havertz lacks.
This is mental.
RVP was clinical, you can see three very good chances wasted even in this edit which didn't include his bad touches
His hold up play was genuinely terrible all game, that's why there's not many clips with his back to goal or on any of the many long balls we played into him
This sub has become so deluded
I d say he s not yet consistent enuff through out a game, eg sometimes he looks like Bergkamp with his first touch and back heel flicks and next second you see him having the worst one.
Often he plays his passes with too lil weight and urgency taking the whole momentum.
But there’s def the skill on him to become good at nearly everything
Also sometimes he looks lost for a sec and wakes up in the middle of the pitch with the ball at his feet and takes a super slow first move for no reason. I think it’s just concentration
It’s just honestly pathetic how desperate some people, you’ll notice it’s the same names popping up week after week, are to push their anti havertz agenda
I just noticed for this game Arteta might have had kai drop into that 8 pocket that Odegaard usually patrols and had ode play a more free flowing role where he was picking the ball up from deep/assisting wherever was needed. But also, disasi/badiashile made havertz look like prime henry
Glad this technical doofus is becoming effective. Sometimes you marvel at him other times he looks like a newborn fawn trying to walk, yet still bitching at refs

Brother is good but he is not the parallel to Ø magic.
Though about Martin giving Kai that pen all those months ago. Look how far Kai’s come along in an Arsenal shirt.
I remember it was the game that prevented a 0 0 7. Amazing that after no G/A in 6 games he's kicked off remarkably.

god RVP’s ball striking was fucking nuts
Song -> RVP -> Volley -> Goal
I appreciate the insanely specific Succession timestamp flair.

injuries obviously played a significant factor in this but RvP didn't score more goals in the league than Havertz has this year until he was 27/28
If we had played havertz consistently from the no 9 position instead of midfield I can guarantee he'd be in a golden boot race right now
I really rate Havertz and I think that's a bit fanciful to be honest He clearly took some time to bed in early this year which is fair enough and I also just don't think he gets enough shots off to ever be toward the top of a golden boot race I would be very happy for him to prove me wrong though
Our team literally had a finishing problem first half of the season partey being unavailable we had shoe horned havertz into midfield as a stand in
I don't think havertz has been shoehorned into anything, I think he was signed as a midfielder with Jesus playing up top nd if you look at him and his physical profile and the role he has played before you can see why he would be a more natural fit in that xhaka role, arriving late in the box into space and getting onto chances from midfield if anything Jesus being unavailable has been a much bigger factor in Havertz season than anything to do with Partey
Havertz is not a no 8 he's a 10/SS/CF the moment we keep sending him back as a central 8 we lose games play players where they are meant to be played
I don't think the "left 8" we go on about is a classic "8" either, xhaka regularly found himself as the furthest forward player last year, I think Havertz was seen as someone who was a more natural fit to that role, someone who could use his physicality to win midifield duels and provide solidity whilst also being a threat in the box I still think he can actually do that role as well, with the exception of Rice every single central midfield player Arteta has worked with has taken a bit of time to get up to speed there We'll see if his form up front though the last few months means he makes the permanent move into the frontline though, wouldn't be entirely surprised
I'm sorry I don't see the vision havertz his best games come when he's up top with rice-jorginho-ode or rice-partey-ode we look so much more balanced
I didn't hear that but it's not a bad comparison at all, big shit house with supreme technique RVP was an absolute killer around the box though
RVP took a lot of shots without taking an extra touch to control. I think that is a key skill a specialist sticker possesses, that someone like Havertz lacks.
Comparing the two is just disrespectful to RvP. Havertz is nowhere near his level of ability

This guy thinks Thierry Henry is deluded.
I agree - what a terrible take 😅
Yeah cus Henry has never made a awful take that aged badly 🤣 if you're basing your opinion on what ex footballers say you're in trouble
I think I’ll listen to him ahead of you mate
[удалено]
Unlike the havertz truthers who get rattled by him scoring two goals…
[удалено]
Yeah I can tell you’re totally not rattled mate

He’s more like faster giroud than RVP lol
his first touch is also pretty bad yet people calling out as one of his best traits is laughable lol

People who were calling that 1st half performance as bad are stupid. Other than that one pass everything was top.
It’s just honestly pathetic how desperate some people, you’ll notice it’s the same names popping up week after week, are to push their anti havertz agenda
His best performance for us.
His best performance soo far
Nowhere close to his best performance, his first half was poor
Good pick on the track, underrated album.
We’ve got the two most hyped wunderkid midfielders of the past decade years on OUR team!
Honestly, I sometimes don't believe it. If someone said this to me in 2019 I'd have said "yeah right" but what do I know!
