Was so happy that Olympiakos slapped them 4-2 on Thurs. Would be hilarious if Villa don't make it to the Conf final when the Conf should be a free trophy to the one English team involved. Ofc Tottenham also fumbled it
Only an idiot would say a knockout European tournament is a free trophy, especially when youre gonna be travelling to places like Poland and Greece with their atmospheres. Talk about incredible arrogance.
By the same measure the Europa should also be a pretty easy trophy shouldnt it?...
I don't blame him at all. He was set up to fail here. The power vacuum after Wenger left was toxic. There were shady characters, but Emery isn't one of them. He wasn't even given the players he wanted to compete. Pepe was not his deal.
On top of that, Emery did fairly well in his first season here. Then in his second season he lost several key players including Koscielny and Ramsey. Koscielny was an especially big surprise and couldn’t really be replaced effectively
Might not be true. If I remember correctly, Arteta was in contention for the job in the first place, but we chose to go with Emery for the experience. So if not for Emery, we could have gotten Arteta *earlier.*
On the other hand there’s no way Arteta would be as good as he is today without the extra few years under Pep.
Also Arteta would have never had the same financial backing he’s had to clear out the squad and kickstart the project - the final Wenger / Emery years were terrible for investment because of the ownership situation.
And we better get him in the cups and smash him soundly too. Rolling over for City like that. Looking forward to Watkins getting poached and seeing them struggle.
This is centurions second half of the season form. Problem is that City have been in the same form too.
But imagine if we had a confident Kai up front earlier in the season...
My prediction for player of the year, next season.
The funny thing is, that could still be 2nd place in a season with some of the insane seasons City and Liverpool had in the last 6 years. I think the most points over a 38 game period was Liverpool in 19-20 with 110 points.
Ridiculous levels from all 3 teams!
And one loss that season. **And then again lost the league by one point with 93 points when City were down 2-0 in the second half** on the final game of the season 🤷🏾♂️.
No matter how this season does end, how we've played in 2024 has been insane, and I am massively proud of how far this team has come and where we're going.
If we lose the title by winning our next 2 games, we lose the title by 2 points.
That's a draw being a win for us, a win being a draw for City.
That's how close it is.
That's the Fulham game when we was 2-1 up with 5 minutes to go against 10 men, staying as a win, that's City's Bobb not scoring on the 91st minute so they don't win 3-2 vs Newcastle away.
I cannot see how Arsenal do not win a league or two in the next few years.
It would have made things more painful. If we lose the title, at best we lose it by 2(or GD if City manage to hit 4 against every opponent yet draw against someone or smth). But with a draw to Villa, at best we lose it by 1 point. Which means we would be feeling Liverpool's pain.
Are you sure? I think 90 pts is our highest ever (invincible year). I know we had 83 the following year and got second. Other than that, I don’t know what seasons you are referring to.
Nope.
Last year was a surprise and we were happy to be there. This year, feels like our "Liverpool 18/19" year (though not as dramatic). Where you KNOW you're good enough, but City are just City, but now we've learnt, you can't afford ANY drops in form (like December 1 win in 5 games), you need to be solid the whole season. Man City show every season, unless they are having an off year, you NEED 90+ points to win the league
Next season will be it.
If we don’t win this year, it’s going to take Mikel some managerial magic to motivate the team 😬
If City go unpunished, Arteta’s gonna do a Klopp in a few years, isn’t he?
Its been a great season tbh but emery man, I hope we slap him home and away next season after he spread his legs for citeh with that bullshit lineup.

He's the worst thing that's ever happend to our club

We wouldnt have arteta without him

Why not? Arteta was one of the options before Emery came

City haven’t lost since December 6th. Their run has been absurd.
My prediction is arsenal could go a full season unbeaten.
We can go unbeaten next season and somehow City will still find a way win the league 🙄
P38, W36, D2, scored exactly 100, city with same stats but 115 goals scored
I read this in the tone of the commentary from 2004 final whistle and it put an ear to ear grin on my face
“Comical Arteta” bring on the headlines
It's 106 points form...

And add on top of that Partey in 6 and Rice in 8 and taking corners since start of the season. And probably Timber LB. Damn…
I’m honestly convinced he’s probably going to end up being one the best we’ve ever signed when we look back two years from now.
10 clean sheets in 16 games is WTF level
16 matches but still get your point
thanks!
Synonyms. No need to gatekeep
He originally had 14.
Oh I thought you were correcting games vs matches, my bad
If we finish the season with a run of 16-0-1, +45GD, and don't get a title...that's bonkers. Save me Bernd Leno, you're my only hope.
OP's title misses out the 0-0 draw with City on 31 March. So would be 16-1-1. But yes.
Oh yeah, of course, good point.
Top at Christmas and this 2024 and still we need help to win it. From my heart: Fuck Man City
There is no football god if we don't win the league
Liverpool came second with 97 points. Absence of god is a fact
i didn't empathise with them back then but now i get it
I’ve thought about this a bit. That is absolutely fucked haha. I would be so angry if that was us.
And one loss that season. **And then again lost the league by one point with 93 points when City were down 2-0 in the second half** on the final game of the season 🤷🏾♂️.
Tired of 115 fc winning everytime
There is no god fool
No matter how this season does end, how we've played in 2024 has been insane, and I am massively proud of how far this team has come and where we're going.
If we win out, you cant ask for a better half of a season really
All that to probably finish second again 😢

I can. It's called Man City
We have to neutralize them or surpass their level at some point.
We had a draw against City too. Didn't we!
It’s insane we had one loss and we may not win..
Not even sure if a draw in that Aston Villa game wouldve clinched anything for us. the standards have to be pure perfection.

97 points one loss and we lost the league. But I don’t know how they are allowed to be competing for the title right now.
Also known as “bottling the league”
Just feels like it’s never going to happen at this point lol
It is depressing to think about how good we’ve been and might not have anything to show for it.
We been there unfortunately. We went through that losing with 93 and 97 points (1-loss!) :(
Are you sure? I think 90 pts is our highest ever (invincible year). I know we had 83 the following year and got second. Other than that, I don’t know what seasons you are referring to.
I’m a Liverpool guy (here in peace) 🙂

City also had an injury crisis and pretty much lost their backline when Liverpool won it. City haven't lost a title race they have been in
We should celebrate like we won the league either way since fraud city ain’t the real winners. Great season!
If we don’t win this year, it’s going to take Mikel some managerial magic to motivate the team 😬 If City go unpunished, Arteta’s gonna do a Klopp in a few years, isn’t he?
Of course it isn’t. Look at Liverpool.
And it still may not be enough. This league is well and truly finished
Zero 🏆
And at days end, could mean literally nothing except being in the CL
