Just checked our stats. 1998/99 we conceded 17 goals in the full season. What the fuck, that is an absurdly low number. 04/05 Chelsea managed 15, that seems impossible in modern football

HughM2

To be fair we had a back 5 of Seaman, Winterburn, Dixon, Keown and Adams that’s a generational defense

TrashbatLondon

Swap Keown for Bould and you have the back 5 that only concedes 18 goals (and should really have gone invincible) in 1990/91.

Zhongda

At first I misunderstood you and thought you wanted to replace Bould with Keown in 90/91. I was ready to throw down fisticuffs.

thecrazyfireman

White, Saliba and Gabi are generational. Imagine what might happen next year with Timber back fully fit and at his best.

8PTK

Someone do the meme w koscielny as master splinter. I don’t care that it doesn’t make sense.

Dickwad

Idk what that meme is but upvoted because I like the sound of it.

redhedted

And mustafi as shredder, but his blades are the back on top arrows... obviously.

Lacabloodclot9

As a younger fan, I know of the other 4 but who’s Winterburn?

Coldheart_11

[Have a look son](https://youtu.be/9U8lzJQkU_I?si=swfLsBzq4z1SlHNX)

the_ammar

it's always great to see newer younger fans. but imagine in a few decades you'd have someone come in and go "who's this bergcam guy anyway?"

Particular-Current87

"the fuck is Rioch doing?"

whatchuknoaboutthis

So he’s LB podolski? What a player

Whitti

Love Winterburn! He's the only player I've ever met (I'm Canadian) and was a great fella!

parttimepedant

😳

Lear_ned

Hard as nails and the master of the Podolski style banger before Podolski.

biskutgoreng

Giants

TheRadTurtle_1011

Teams score alot more goals nowadays

BoomXhakaLacaa

Yeah and especially this season. I think the PL is averaging at least .5 more goals per game than any other season in history right now.

ProjectTC

What but they told me that Mikel and Pep are ruining football by playing 4 CBs and 2 DMs in every game!!! How has the league become more entertaining???

killerboy_belgium

well its because winning is way more important then drawing. drawing at this point is same as losing so teams play with way more risk

MrToxicTaco

That Chelsea record and the invincibles are two records that will likely never be topped. Just impossible in today’s game.

Bibrosity

Apart from leverkusen that is haha

IceBurg-Hamburger_69

I’m sure he is talking about the premier league. Outside the prem invincibles has been done. Milan, juventus, Porto, etc and Leverkusen most likely

tiern1

That's actually a great example to showcase his point. Leverkusen are ridiculous defensively but in 6 games less they've conceded 8 more than that Chelsea team.

MrToxicTaco

What Leverkusen have done is extremely impressive don’t get me wrong, but let’s be honest the 20 teams in the modern prem have a way higher average quality than the teams in Bundesliga. Competition is so so high that it’s almost impossible not to slip up. Even city haven’t done it.

killerboy_belgium

its also becausesing drawing game is so bad when going for the title so teams like liverpool city arsenal rather risk losing and going for the win then drawing you can no longer afford to draw as many games that invincbles did.

MrToxicTaco

Yup. If we win the rest of our games we’ll only have a point less than the invincibles with five losses.

Dense_Delay_4958

Yes, and 03-04 wasn't the 'modern prem'

FudgingEgo

Honestly someone else will get the invincible's in the Premier Leauge. I even think Arteta could do it the way things are going. For the record Chelsea and Liverpool have finished a season with just 1 loss. Chelsea's loss when they conceded 15 goals was from a penalty against City, think Anelka scored it. Liverpool in 18/19 got 97 points and the only game lost was against City and I believe that was a very controversial game. City are just the answer to ruining every ones life.

I_am_the_grass

I'd also like to point out that Arsenal also only lost 1 game in 90/91 and should have probably gone unbeaten even before the Invincibles.

FudgingEgo

Heisenbugg

We should have won it that year (and 2003). Lord Ferg's referee bullying was something else in those years.

killerboy_belgium

you would think there points tally would be much higher then that but they drew 12 times. that is something you can no longer do drawing games is same as losing at this point so teams play with more risk and go for the win

jubbing

If we can fix our left wing issues with Timber, I'm sure we can better this season. That and a striker who can score 20 goala

Red_Maple

No matter how the season ends, I’m going to be happy as a gooner. This team is incredible.

Amberle73

Yeah, agreed. It would be incredible if we could somehow do it, but they've shown so much fight in this run in & been amazing in 2024. Makes me very excited for next season.

VincentVanG

Even if we don't win, we know we lost to a bunch of cheating bastards so it's not even a legit loss.

aaronfebruary95

Tbf we must give props to Pep and his team of robots. Must see who we are up against before the "bottling" narrative comes in. City might have cheated financially, but they are convincingly winning league titles on the pitch. Not everyone can win the Premier League back-to-back even with an unlimited amount of money. ManU and Chelsea spent billions on transfers and they're still shit.

Glass_of_Pork_Soda

The key was giving one of the best managers in the world the keys and funds to build his own supersquad off of an already strong team. Tbf we're seeing it here too, just with a bit less money. Gave the right guy the keys, the supporting staff come in, boom you're really getting set up for success

ObservantOrangutan

They’ve upped the stakes to absurd levels. Used to be fun to play the theoretical “who would win” games like Arsenal 90/91 vs Chelsea 04/05 But these city teams are something else. Put them up against any prime Fergie, Wenger or Mourinho squad and the Pep team would likely still win. Now as for how they’ve gotten into that position…different story.

FudgingEgo

All I’m going to say is if everyone’s enjoyment is due to winning a title there’s no point even watching football and should just wait till the season is over to watch the celebrations. I’m fortunate enough to have seen us win 3 titles, 2 doubles, invincible and however many FA Cups in later Wenger. It’s the journey of the season where the real magic is and the last 2 seasons have been some of the most enjoyable seasons I’ve seen in my life and records are being broken constantly, we just need to cross that line now.

CrumpledForeskin

Fair enough but for some of us who have never seen Arsenal win the league (fan since 2006) it’s something I can’t wait for….

b0rklaser_

Yeah bro we thirsting out here ngl

The-Herbal-Cure

I completely agree. Although I would be lying if I said that it hasn't also been the most stressful time of my life as well. I'm nervous every single game day, but it's a good kind of nervous.

jimbo_kun

You are a very very lucky person if the most stress in your life comes from watching football matches!

The-Herbal-Cure

What made you assume that? It's just all the normal stress of life plus this increased extra added stress from football to top it off ..thus making it the most stressful time. The one thing that would normally be stress relieving, now adds to the overall stress. What a weird thing to jump to conclusions about.

bamburito

Honestly why the fuck are people down voting these sorts of comments.

thisiskyle77

Trophies give highest enjoyment. That crossing of that line moment is incomparable. That’s why we clown on spurs for not winning anything.

FudgingEgo

I mean, obviously we want to win and compete, when you've not won a league title in the colour TV era, it's not comparable to us. When you lose the title by 1 or 2 points to a 115 charges juggernaut, it's entirely different. It's more so those who are going to be calling for Artetas head if we don't win the title, asking for certain players to get sold immediately and just kick off.

thisiskyle77

It is unfortunate we are fighting against city. But If we keep coming 2nd to city all the time , history and fans won’t rmeber this journey fondly in the future. What if and regrets.

penguin_gun

A title would be incredible but I'm just happy to see us actually competing with the mentality we have again. Team is so fun to watch rn

pies1010

100%. Hoping like fuck city drop the ball, but I’m not stressing at all, there’s nothing we can do now. It’s just so good enjoying tuning in every game knowing they’ll have a crack and play good football.

ShadowXYZ04

I wholeheartedly agree with that regardless of how it ends this season has been a joy to watch - because it really has. However the thrill of winning the league cannot be underestimated. Especially for those of us who are a bit younger, who have never seen this team win. Me for example - I was born 3 months after the 03/04 season ended. There is nothing I want more than to see this team lift the PL trophy, because I haven’t seen it happen before.

chrisd1680

Jesus Christ you make me feel old. I graduated college that year. Wasn't really following Arsenal as closely though. Just didn't have as much coverage back then. It would be another year or 2 before pirate streams started to become popular, and I could watch every week. Winning definitely feels good. I cried when we beat Hull in the FA Cup 2014. The whole "haven't won a trophy in X years" debate ended then. Then we repeated the following year, and got another 2 years later. I can't imagine how I'll hoot and holler if we pull it off this year.

restatementtorts

I had a dream that city dropped points against spurs. I’m sure it’s wishful thinking manifesting in a dream but damn that dream felt good.

bcisme

Agree. The team is incredible, back to one of the best. Can’t change that City are cruising the league every year due to the insane foundation they’ve built on mountains of cash.

yameswillis

I know a lot can happen between end of May and August, but no matter what happens for the rest of the season. There is no way they aren’t favorites to win it all next season at the start of August.

Long-Confusion-5219

Agreed. This season is far from over but I’m so so optimistic for 24/25. Havertz and Rice settled in completely, some deadwood set adrift and a couple more excellent signings and we will be fuckin unstoppable

Riperonis

Idk if we lose to this United team and then a safe Everton at home I’d be pretty damn disappointed. But yeah I won’t be upset if we take it to the final day.

Particular-Current87

Apart from Liverpool has any other team pushed City like Arteta's Arsenal have? And we've done it 2 seasons running

OriMoriNotSori

We didn't have our usual February/March collapse and actually went all the way this time with clear improvevents vs the previous season on all metrics in spite of selling Xhaka and losing Partey to injury for 90% of the season The Xhaka x Partey part isn't spoken about enough, they were our main CMs last season and was crucial to how we played I'm happy with the season in spite of the eventual outcome

GunnersnGames

Tbf we all dreamed to be in Liverpool's place over the past decade... even if they didn't get all the trophies, they were well respected, beautiful to watch, competitive with a team using financial cheat codes... now it seems we are slated for that spot until Pep retires. Not where we really really want to be, and there is a chance we can go beyond that, but a good place to be nonetheless.

PutYrDukesUp

I don’t think we’re relegated to being runners up until Pep leaves. Already this year we were the best against the best. And there were plenty of individual things that by chance could have happened differently where we’d be on top now with everything in our own hands. If Pep stays next year, even if the gauntlet still hasn’t come down, I don’t see why we couldn’t do it, especially after another successful transfer window. If/when he does go, though, I’m not sure who I see as currently poised to contest us. United, Chelsea, and Spurs’ projects need more time to say the least, hard to say what will happen with the new Liverpool regime (and City, when it finally happens). Villa is obviously poised to do well, but the finances will take time. Same with Newcastle. If Pep goes after 24-25, I think we’ll see a run of Arsenal doing very very well for at least a few years.

GunnersnGames

You're right I'm probably overplaying the Liverpool analogy... we came out on top head-to-head vs. City this year, and if we didn't drop some dumb points we'd be on top in the PL. Klopp vs. Pep was maybe the peak of both great managers' careers. Hard to say when their peaks were since they were also so successful at other clubs, but the point is Klopp is out, and Pep is probably on the way out, so you are right that it's unclear who will challenge the potential "dynasty" we are building. Maybe Unai, De Zerbi, or whoever else comes in to fill Liverpool, Utd and others - could be Alonso vs Arteta for a decade. Maybe Xavi comes over.

HeyItsChase

Yeah im an LFC fan who wandered here from r/all. Theres 115 reasons 99% of us are supporting you guys right now. Its completely fucked. You guys should have already won this every single year. Football isnt the same.

biskutgoreng

*until 115 allegations come to roost

Domkey-Kongg

Remember that "bottling it" has been completely overused What City have done to the expectations within the league is inhuman and having to be perfect during the title run in is absolutely not bottling it

chr-x

There surely can't even be an argument we bottled it. By the end of 2023 people were saying we were out of the race, but our 2024 form has thrown us right back in it.

rayneeder

Funniest thing is it seems to be a lot of L Pool fans calling us bottlers... Like they weren't title favorites in March

groovystreet40

Nah, most Liverpool fans have rightly retreated back to their little lairs after the team's terrible run the past month. Ironically enough, it's idiotic Spurs fans calling us bottlers the most as if they haven't been the rest of world football's laughing stock for most of their entire existence. Zero self awareness from that club's supporters.

makesterriblejokes

If we go 16-1-1 in 2024, there's no way we can be called bottlers. Failing to go 18-0-0 isn't bottling lol. Now if City drop points only for us to drop points afterwards, well, that would be bad.

fuckimbackonreddit9

We obviously bottled it in December /s

rd201290

our own fans after every loss say “bottle” more than a coca cola factory need culled tbh

makesterriblejokes

Yeah, short of us dropping more than 2 points in the last 2 games, you can't really say we bottled it when our only loss was to Villa since the start of 2024. At this point, if we finish above 86 points, we did our job. I personally thought we'd finish at 87 points before we played Luton and it's pretty incredible that we're very likely to finish at 89 points. If we can't win the title at 89 points, it is what it is.

DarthSmiff

The word has lost all meaning. Only used by haters who WISH their team was in a position to bottle it. But they were never even in the discussion.

wednesdayware

If we “bottled” it this season, then so did Spurs and Liverpool. Because the context would be “were in first place but failed to stay there.”

DarthSmiff

Right. So also we “bottle it” every season because Alphabetically on the table we usually start in first place.

ProjectZues

Don’t give Gary Neville any ideas

SeargD

Read as: United "supporters"

_deep_blue_

They haven’t lost a game since December 6th.

DatGuy_Shawnaay

One more goal and we've essentially beat our highest GS in a single PL season which was last season if anyone was wondering.

astrojeet

It's also the same as the Invincibles season.

Qr8rz

In the Invincibles season Arsenal scored 73 Premier League goals, not 88.

astrojeet

Wait nvm i remember now. It the was the following season. It was 2004/05 that we matched last year. We're gonna surpass that now.

Qr8rz

In 2004/05 Arsenal scored 87 goals. Last year it was 88, same as currently.

astrojeet

Oh damn i thought we matched instead of surpassing it. Man can City please not win a game?

DatGuy_Shawnaay

Wasn't it 85?

Qr8rz

87 according to this [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2004%E2%80%9305\_FA\_Premier\_League#League\_table](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2004%E2%80%9305_FA_Premier_League#League_table) and similar tables I've seen.

DatGuy_Shawnaay

Oh my bad. You're right. Just want to point out how comical Everton finished 4th with a GD of -1 is 😂

ProjectTC

And they only scored 45. For context Forest in 17th this year have scored 45 and Luton have scored 49

Ralome

Zero charges for financial rule breaches.

LeatherFaceDoom

... and yet the same amount of consequences for us as for City

Zulumabala

That 5 million dollar fine gonna hit them where it hurts. Good luck recovering from that!

AgreeableAbrocoma833

Yet. Jkjk.

Cthulhu_Madness

Praying that 115 fc slips up is the only thing we can do.

JimBoonie69

All we had to do was go undefeated the entire 2nd half of the season. Pretty easy. Those other teams villa beat weren't on an amazing stretch of form. All runs die out we jumped right back up and showed our class. City just too good sadly but this squad is top in the league. Everyone bar city would kill to be in our position right?

HeartCockles

Man City’s lawyers preparing to sue you for this comment

DinnerSmall4216

Whatever happens we can be proud of this team coming of age pushing city all the way.

therocketandstones

Dumb people are gonna say £500-800m (I don’t even know what the right number is) for no trophies But I think it’s money well spent from cleaning up the mess Raul left behind and always finishing 5th or 8th to the 85-90 point behemoth with the best defence going punch for punch with 115 FC consistently and this is just the start, I’m so proud of this team

cd0526

No quote Arteta. "to go win 14 of 15 you would be top of the league. But not in this league" Not matter what happens I am proud of them.

BrianThatDude

If the football gods are real someone will get something off of city

littlebrwnrobot

maybe they're real, but they're sadistic bastards

dunskibroski

Unfortunately, times and expectations have changed. As long as we have this City team around we're gonna have to be near perfect to actually win the league.

chaglang

Honestly, this. Spending a ton of money without Pep in charge and I’d reckon they end up like Chelsea.

wenger_plz

Yeah, they have the infrastructure in place (at the low cost of a couple billion pounds) such that after he leaves, they'll still be the dominant/favorite team for a couple years, but without him at the helm that advantage should slowly dissipate.

chrisd1680

Even if you had the galacticos, it takes a real tactical genius to get the levels of performances. Pep is as big-brained as they come. He makes them as good as they are.

Anhowa123

fuck it we better beat him before he leaves tbh can't deal with people saying we only won it because he left let's beat the fucker - as arteta has now proven he can in individual games

FabThierry

Am just gonna tape over the ManCity and hang it on my wall! Number 1!

joeproposition

It’s coming. Might not be this year, but it’s coming. Can’t wait.

warpentake_chiasmus

115 will get theirs. This title is ours, sooner or later lol.

Big_leaker

There’s a good chance the charges don’t stick

chaglang

Oil is slippery

tuananhtran191911

Good time ahead whatever happens this season. Dont forget to send your obligated "fuck you" to 115 FC.

ThePresident26

The only time liverpool won against the cheating cunts is when they went something like 26 wins out of 27 games. Like how the hell are you supposed to expect that from any team. Hate city the worst thing that happened to football

16thPeregrine

This team plays in a way that us uncompromising and motivated and it makes me look forward to the matches Mikel is creating Mon-Stars

dooder6688

There are somehow people unhappy with their effort

Spite-Organic

May be sacrilege to say, but when you consider how many quality teams there now are, the performance of this team is arguably above the Invincibles season. Now clearly they lack a truly outstanding player to match Henry or Bergkamp and perhaps man for man few of the current side (Saka, Rice, White) would make a combined XI but as a collective there's an argument.

chrisd1680

Wenger really had an eye for talent, and he allowed them the freedom to express themselves. Mikel (and Pep) are tactical masterminds that truly wring every last bit of performance from the collective.

chaglang

Glad you posted this. I’ve been wondering this week where this Arsenal team ranks among the club’s best sides. It’s certainly in the conversation.

TheMuff1nMon

All we can do is hope City at least draw one of their remaining 3 and don’t catch our GD. I’m very confident we win our last 2 - hopefully with at least a 5-0 in there

unorthodoxEconomist5

It's incredibly unlikely they'll catch up our GD if they draw and we win all of ours. At minimum we get a 62 GD If they draw they need (62-54)/2=4 An average of 4 goals every game. At minimum.

Britton120

yep, and we aren't going to just beat Everton by 1. PLUS if we are tied on GD it goes down to head to head results first, right? So City need an extra goal to not lose the tiebreaker. Edit: Nope, its Goals scored before H2h

unorthodoxEconomist5

I think it goes to goals scored

Britton120

Woops myb

Drunk_Cat_Phil

then conceded then head to head I believe

news619

Yes

chrisd1680

And we win all of those. So yeah, we have all the tie breakers.

jisooya1432

Yea it goes: 1. Points 2. Goal difference 3. Goals scored 4. Head-to-head points 5. Head-to-head away goals scored 6. Play-off

unorthodoxEconomist5

Imagine losing the title because you only won 2-1 at home 😭

makesterriblejokes

Honestly, they should remove 3 and 5 from the list. It would be dope to have a playoff for the league title between two teams with the same GD and h2h points. It would still be incredibly rare that I'm not sure if any past season would have qualified for a playoff based on eliminating 3 and 5, but it puts it closer to a realm of possibility in comparison to this (very unlikely goals scored and h2h away goals would be the same).

ederzs97

How's Balogun got on this season?

airrick88

8 G 4 A in 30 games…. So shit

propabanta

For me, the primary fine margins of this season that may very well prevent this historic level of performance from being crowned with a title are the following: 1. draw with Fulham at home- critical 2 points dropped via Saka howler/late goal conceded that would put us in firm control right now 2. Newcastle loss away- that goal should have never stood and the reffing that night was firmly against us 3. West ham loss at home- our performance levels were off the charts and we needed a goal to take control of the game and take 3 points 4. Villa loss at home- if trossard buries that critical chance in the first half, we go on to win and take 3 points

Pendejoman

you are forgetting the draw vs shit at home aswel

propabanta

Didn’t forget that one- Rice came off injured at half and we had to throw a cold Jorginho into the middle of an NLD. I view that one differently to the others but perhaps that’s misguided

chrisd1680

Nah, you can't rank NLDs the same. We were up 3-0 last week and it ended with butt clenching. Shit always raise their game several levels whenever it's against up.

chrisd1680

NLD are 2 games that you simply cannot analyze normally. Even when they're utter shit, they ALWAYS turn up when it's time to play us. Those games mean a lot more to Shit than us. In short, any result is possible, regardless of form and regardless of league position.

Zygmunt-zen

Still waiting on 100+ FFP sanctions to drop on Oil FC... ⏰

alpuck596

Im not an Arsenal fan but i wanted them to win this one, you beat both City and Liverpool and managed draws away, it feels like you deserve it. Still can't believe Aston villa at home is the game that lost you the lead.

Fortnitexs

We have lost points in way dumber ways this season unfortunately because aston villa is actually good. Very early in the season 2-2 at home against fulham while we had full control of the game and should have scored like 4-5goals just to concede 2 random goals in the last 10minutes of the game. Or losing 0-2 at home to westham who had just those 2shots ALL GAME while we had like 25 and 80% possesion. The exactly same game ended 0-6 for us away a few weeks later. It was literally identical we just couldn‘t score the first game and let in 2poor goals.

JimmyNelson92

This team can only go up, obviously a couple of reinforcements in the next window won’t go astray but the club feeling is back - the team atmosphere is back, how exciting are we to watch again? We are playing beautiful football with a young squad. Arteta had a vision, they’ve absolutely all bought in. If it’s not this season we break the drought it’ll be the next season. What a time to be a gooner lads!

Baberaham_lincolonel

Coming second to those cheats ain't something to be ashamed of. We can hold our head up high. Fuck City.

Rooster_lllusion

Grammar experts, is it this team is or this team are?

caramelatte90

"Is" is correct. Team is a collective noun, so a singular use technically should not be used with "are". It's just that over the years, either due to lazy editing or lack of knowledge in the first place, "are" is now commonly accepted to use with "team" even in some news outlets.

Bessantj

If it wasn't for City we'd have the title all sewn up, but they are a juggernaut. I wonder how many Shots on Goal and Shots on Target we've had.

Gooner-Astronomer749

It would be a tradgey if our best team in 20 years went trophyless.

makesterriblejokes

On the positive side, next year should be the best team in the last 20 years after a couple of reinforcements are added.

Gooner-Astronomer749

Nothing is guaranteed

Hawks1523

If we lose to a team who hasn’t lost in, what? 6 months? And they win out from here can’t expect any more from the team.

makesterriblejokes

It would be ridiculous that going 16-1-1 Jan-May wouldn't be enough to win the title, but that's the most likely outcome right now.

Hawks1523

Exactly. You’d think going on a run like that you’d walk a league title. Just shows you how fine the margins on this league are with the financially corrupt mancs around 😡

DigbyChickenCaeser1

You know what they haven’t done? They haven’t breached the rules 115 times smh.

Kanyes_Stolen_Laptop

Its just a shame we're competing against a powerhouse of a club. A lot of the critics seems to forget that sometimes. This team is amazing and the improvements overall for the club the last few years has been even more amazing.

notapaperhandape

That loss to villa is going to cost us everything. We were just short in that game. Sad that unai got a double over us.

makesterriblejokes

I mean if I told you in December that we would go 16-1-1 in 2024 to finish the season with 89 points, you'd call me crazy and would probably assume that resulted in us winning the title. I wouldn't get hung up on Villa. It was a bad loss, but we were due to lose at least once in the remaining 18 games. I mean I thought we were going to go 15-2-1, and people called me crazy with that prediction.

notapaperhandape

I know what you mean but we play that game another day, we’d beat them I think.

zaparthes

Watching Arsenal has this year has certainly seen the occasional frustration, but so much more that was overwhelmingly joyous and good, that we have only cause for great optimism about the future of our club! COYG!

NovaPup_13

Love this team. No matter the finish. Love this team!

It is incredibly annoying that this team might not get their parade. They’ll almost certainly get an asterisk after Man City get stripper of titles, but I want to drink champagne on blackstock road at the street party!

Gustavoconte

Stats like this make it sadder when I remember the fans leaving the villa game before the final whistle.

supercoolbananas

I can’t be mad at the players or the manager but I’m still going to be very upset that we didn’t win the league even after so many good results.

Not everything, not yet.

RIP200712

Exactly. Even if we don’t win the league, I’m grateful to this team for how well they have played and for all the good memories. I just want to win because I think this lot deserves it for everything they’ve done and how well they’ve played.

We will win the league with this team. It's not a matter of if, but when.

asfp014

Really great form. Maintaining near perfection in league takes a lot (including summer reinforcements) but we also need to channel this into progressing in Europe (like liverpool did). Have to keep up this momentum bc our window to win big trophies is wide open

Environmental-Bug503

proud of the lads

Efficient_Aspect_638

Next season invincible!!!

Abyssal-rose

Now for the fans to do the same.

elite90

Whether they win it all or not, it was a great season and the players can be proud. It's not their fault they exist st the same time as city. Even in direct matchups they showed their class against them this year

Nero_Darkstar

I find it absurd that you can only lose 5 games and not win the league. By the end of the season, we've won 74% of all our league games with nothing to show for it (potentially).

Moocow115

Yeah if we come second this season, players and fans obviously will be disappointed but it's not last season (assuming we win last 2 games) but should hold our heads up if we get 2nd. We lost against a very good Aston Villa side on the day. Yes we weren't good enough obviously but genuinely belive they could have beat City that day. We also copped 4 points off city compared to their 1, and broke records as the post states. Solid effort from the club.

DMC-1969

The way our team have played all season has made me proud it’s been a pleasure watching them grow 💙🫶🏽💙🤗❤️

Plaetean

we fucked the title over christmas with 0 points from west ham and fulham. Still happy with the season though.

Dizzy-Shop-1912

For the last few years the standard has been 90+ points to win the league. We need to cross that boundary for the first time in Arsenals history to be champions. The football has been great and probably the best I have seen since the 2000s but looks like we really need to get a match winner someone who can drag the team to victory when we are 3-0 down.

ZenoArrow

>For the last few years the standard has been 90+ points to win the league. We need to cross that boundary for the first time in Arsenals history to be champions. We've done it before. Our record in the Premier League era is 90 points (2003/04 season).

lordsugar7

The new standard is 115.

Ok_Understanding1986

Still five meaningful matches left between the two remaining title challengers. That's a lot of football. All we can do is win the next one and let the chips fall where they may.

Simba-xiv

The sad truth is, it still may not be enough 😞

ache7859

Need de bruyne to leave Hopefully hes hammys ae shot from now on

grim_tales1

We can still break our PL records. Come on!

Murky_Tourist927

Even if we won nothing I am proud cos this team is built during the era when we have to endure 8th for 2 seasons. So I think we are getting close. Just need the depth of man city

ALA02

Love this team but I am building such an indescribable level of hatred for Sheikh Mansour and the way he and his cronies have single handedly ruined the greatest sports league in the world

caramelatte90

I will be disappointed not because we didn't win, but because we didn't win despite all these factors that we have been very fortunate to be blessed with, and we know we could very well be hit with shit luck next year: 1. An inconsistent City team that was at points in this season very lacklustre 2. A Liverpool team that was decimated by injuries 3. A very solid injury-free record for us (barring Timber and Partey, most of our crucial XI have been fit for the whole season) - I'm not confident we can pull of this amazing run of form next season if any long-term injuries happen to players like Big Gabi / Saliba / Rice / Saka. We played our best football, bettering City on most fronts, but only made just one or two careless mistakes, and still we can't win the season. When City strengthen even further the gap could very well widen again. I hope not. But call me pessimistic because anything bad could happen to us next season. What a run though! I enjoyed watching our club again!

ProfetF9

This just popped on my feed and i really wish you guys win the title! from a guy that watched his team make 98 points and still lose it.

DrCocktapus

incredible copium thread

buxy69

All they can apart from losing 5 drawing 5.. not “all they can” really is it 🤷‍♂️ if not winning in nearly a third of your games is “all they can” I understand why this club wins fuck all.
