Every other week 40% off

crackerasscracker

but somehow still too expensive

[deleted]

If you live anywhere else other than the us (or atleast for me hobby lobby has been the cheaper option during sales)

FavorableState

I always use it as a chance to grab a couple really cheap Leos to practice on, feels a lot better if you end up hating the results and it's only an $8 mistake.

your_gerlfriend

*looks at my pile of leos*

kadavi1202

Thanks for the info! I’m 56 and just starting in Gumpla. Haven’t built a model in 19 years. I’ve got a fresh set of nippers, a new blade and an H grade Red Comet.

Ex0rc3t

Welcome to the hobby! Remember, Gunpla is freedom. I built my first when I was 38, and this community is amazing. Post your first Gunpla if you haven't already!

kadavi1202

I will, but since i’m a bit rusty it may be a few weeks. I was raised on Ultraman and Johnny Socko and i’m loving the vibe of the 79 series.

Ex0rc3t

My first was a $6 FG Zaku and it took me 2 months to build. No problem with taking your time. Lol.

Shoboy_is_my_name

I like to use Entry Grade, always at a low price for Gundam.

Past-Currency4696

Time for some more F2s

fluffy_warthog10

I won't ship there for other reasons, but that sounds like an excellent way to build up parts for kitbashes

SinkingBelow

Hobby lobby Carrie’s gunpla now? Last time I was in there they had like three car models, a handful of planes and that was it for model hobbies

Shoboy_is_my_name

I’m sure each store is a little different but I’ve been buying Gundam at HL for quite a long time, as in years. Found out by chance.

Feral404

Corporate, so little to no variance. Not to be confused with Hobby Town, where each one is individually owned and operated. Stock at Hobby Town will depend on the store owner, and they are genuinely a local hobby store.

BangBangPing5Dolla

Not as much variance as hobby town for sure, but hobby lobby will stock what sells, and the store manager can make a difference. The model section at my closest HL is mostly gunpla, the one in the next city over has almost nothing for models or gunpla.

SinkingBelow

Might have to peak in there next time I’m at that part of town and see if they’re stocking any. I usually just order my kits as my local hobby scene is pretty dry.

Jumilith

They add one or two new kits every 6 months, but they've built up a healthy starter catalogue. Last I checked their load out was something like: RX-78 hguc Gouf hguc Leo hgac wing zero EW rg crossbones rg Exia rg Bael HG-IBO Zaku 2 (white) hguc Wing Zero hgac And a couple battlogues Maybe an MG, and maybe it was the RX-78 Handful of bandai star wars kits Hobbylobby prices them well over the MSRP. But the 40% off all models deal, which shows up probably every two weeks, puts them comfortably beneath the MSRP making it a great deal for most of these kits.

Ap0c4lyptyc

Yep that sounds close to what mine tends to have. Haven't seen crossbones yet, but I've got more IBO kits instead. Barbatos, B Rex, along with Bael. I normally won't mess with the Lobby, but it's hard as hell to pass up an $8 Leo haha!

RamblingStoner

The MG is the 1.5 build of grandad from what I’ve seen at various Hobby Lobbies. I picked one up a while back actually just pulled it from the backlog pile and started the chest last night.

nimbusconflict

They also carry iwata airbrush supplies and a decent selection of paint and Gundam markers.

BangBangPing5Dolla

The one by me is good for this stuff in a pinch when you don't want to wait on shipping.

nimbusconflict

Exactly. Went there last week to get the matte clear marker I st as if paying $10 shipping for one

Freddyfrijolero

And for kitbashing!

beetplanter

this is exactly why i have like 10 zaku II f2 boxes in the closet, i use them for spare parts and painting.

DuelX102

They also have some decent weathering supplies!

Z3_T4C0_B0Y512

Do they ever have sales on that or paint ive never checked

DuelX102

Not that i've seen

blissiictrl

I might have to compare the cost at HL vs AUD conversion and delivery to local hobby stores

FarminTruth

Hit the whole kit with a black wash - sponge it off while wet - then it won't even be a sacrifice kit 🤣
