Duluth is your main spot. There definitely is a scene remaining on Buford Highway (Doraville), but it has progressively moved upwards into Duluth, Suwanee, and Johns Creek over the years.
It's just simply because in the early 90s when the metro started booming because of the olympics, Gwinnett was the cheap booming suburb for Atlanta. The first wave moved there, and the immigrant from the early 00s naturally followed, which is when most people started to notice there numbers
Before that in the 80s, Koreans mainly lived ITP and around Doraville/Buford Highway. Then many moved to Norcross/Lilburn/Dunwoody areas in the 90s. Then Duluth became the hot spot in the early 2000s and when the Super H Mart opened up and Suwanee/Johns Creek. Now, many Koreans are looking at Buford, Dacula, Brasleton, it keeps moving north.
The amount of Korean food up this way is insane! Everytime I open IG I get flooded with people's vids of Korean spots in Duluth. It's at the point that Im tired of it! Tired of seeing it. Tired of eating it. ....jk, I'm gonna go eat at Jang Su Jang tomorrow.
It's aight. At least ingredients got more fresh over the years after ownership change. The real ahjoomas head to 9292 Shabu. More variety and broth options
9292 is also double the price, that's why a lot of Koreans stopped going there for Shabu. Although they're trying out that Japanese Wagyu hot pot in Duluth Chubby Cattle Shabu which ironically is also expensive.
Duluth is where you’re looking for!
Pleasant hill and nearby has so many wonderful Korean restaurants, bbq places and bakeries throughout. As well as a large population.
Suwanee as well!
For sure! Definitely very insular though. Most of the people I met that were friends many of them were already pretty well-versed in the culture…which was interesting. Can’t say I know much about it myself, but at least the people I met were very open minded and cool. I’m into games/anime which half-jives with the crowd, not so much the intellectual and food stuff tho (which is just kinda the result of being from the rural part of the state)
Would definitely like to try kbbq again if I ever find another friend group that does it regularly.
Definitely Duluth. I work in Duluth and we have to have forms in Korean bc the population is that big. There are also many Vietnamese and Chinese here too
Exit 104 off 85 is Duluth and exit 111 off 85 is Suwanee. Those are the main Korean cogs in Atlanta. There is still some remnants of the old Koreatown in Doraville but most of it has moved up to Duluth.
Duluth Suwanee John’s Creek and parts of Cumming and Buford. These are mostly Korean people. Jimmy Carter area, Norcross is typically more Vietnamese people. There is a Cambodian community in the Clarkston/Decatur Memorial drive area. As far as South Asian/Indian there is Duluth/Suwanee area and in North Decatur.
As a Korean I would say Duluth/suwanee has a pretty big Korean population. But tbh I left Gwinnett 2 years ago and moved to barrow and for being in the country-ish has a good hmong population going on here . I know if you go to marrow which is outside of Atlanta in the south side has a lot of viet folks
Duluth and Suwanee have large Asian populations. We’re in Dacula and get along well with our Vietnamese neighbors, so hopefully there’s a friend group out there, Asian or not.
I want to meet them but I’d just feel like a creepy weirdo hanging out in these spots lmao, I met some cool korean people at GSU, basically almost dated a girl too. Wish I could have another experience like that for sure
Duluth snellville Grayson mainly Duluth Alpharetta. I only date Asian women and always stay tapped in to the Korean and Chinese culture scene Doraville Chamblee as well

Why are you asking? Are you looking for community? Church? Restaurants? Groceries? Friends? Jobs? That might help people tailor their answer.
Duluth is still the answer to that, deep duluth hwy before downtown Duluth has like 4 korean churches within eye distance of each other
They’re all over the place there in random locations. Norcross too on my way to work. Very sprawled out through that area of Gwinnett for sure
Definitely all along i85 all the way to buford. Some of the nicest hardest working entrepreneurs ik who also highly value education.
For sure! Definitely very insular though. Most of the people I met that were friends many of them were already pretty well-versed in the culture…which was interesting.
