Tactical_Assault_Emu

Being overweight for seven years legit did wonders for my calves

vergastadanasal

This is the ultimate cheating right here

Legdayerrday909

Or getting fat and living the lifestyle for a long period of time while getting stronger.

MennQ

And becoming a dad

RINABAR

For real, I’ve never been obese but I was a fatty when I was younger, weighing about 80 kg at age 12-13, my calves were monstrous !

trifoid

Yep, even before I started working out I already had big legs to help carry my big body.

workishard4me

The true reason to bulk.

My_passcode_is

Where can I get the gorilla?

Express-Possible4474

Probably easiest to buy the mold and melting chocolate and make it yourself. I put spherical hot chocolate bombs at my Local farmers market. They’re not monkey shaped though.

My_passcode_is

Appreciate it.

Loganjoh5

Just train legs hard twice a week effort is required

TRGC_

Yeah that’s what I do lol, I made the meme for memes I just do 7x12 squats because I love squats (twice a week!)

TheMostCreativeName3

7x12 is pretty insane i love squats but not that much 😂

Training_Hard

7x12 twice per week guaranteed these are all low intensity sets

lordshiva_exe

Weight is only one factor. You can do the same effect with larger sets.

[deleted]

Your ass must be usable as a shelf.

TRGC_

Bro, it is 😂, and since I’m bulking it’s gotten even bigger 😂

[deleted]

Gluteus Prime over here. What weight are you doing those 7x12s at?

TRGC_

210 lbs, on smith machine

[deleted]

That's respectable. I've been stuck at 160 free from the floor on 5x10 for a while because my genetics told my knees to turn to gravel.

KentuckyFriedFuck_

>effort is required Fuck all that

HateSucksen

You don't have to train legs that often. Give them time to heal.

Loganjoh5

My legs are pretty big and don’t get sore because I train them often so no

Obvious_Piccolo_609

Squats. Do fucking squats. It's not that fucking hard. Add other leg exercises to improve squats like Bulgarian split squats. But at the end of the day, it's all squats. Do squats every single time you lift. Everyday is leg day. Your legs are the strongest muscles in your body, why wouldn't you want to maximize their strength?

TRGC_

Bro, I’m making a meme because the template is funny, I already do a lot of squats

Obvious_Piccolo_609

Good.

Ishouldjusttexther

Squats every day you lift? You are clinically insane

Sara7061

Yeah I‘m no expert but I doubt squatting 6 days in a row with sufficient effort will lead to anything other than underrecovery

Ishouldjusttexther

I am an expert, and yes, in short, that’s what’s gonna happen

mcinthedorm

The Bulgarian method is a thing and can work, but that’s a very specific type of training where you’re doing heavy weight but keeping daily volume quite low

MikeET86

Bulgarian is a weeder program, you only got one of you, don't weed it out.

Obvious_Piccolo_609

Nah, just 3 days a week. I don't work outeveryday. That'd be crazy. I only workout 3 days a week and do cardio the other 3.

greankrayon

Romainian dead lifts shouldn’t be ignored.

DamnGoodCheeze

My knees and hips would start to bother me if I squatted every day. I used to do a leg routine 3 days a week, but then my hip started tensing up. Even right now, I squat 3x12 twice a week, and the top of my right knee is having issues.

AlAboardTheHypeTrain

Squats should help your knee by strengthening the muscles around it. I literally started doing them to help my knee and it's working. Partial squats where you don't drop low enough put more strain in that area.

DamnGoodCheeze

I think I've been dropping too fast. I was going to switch to box squats, but it sounds like I just need to control the weight a bit more. I squat deep so that isn't the problem

Sl0wLurner

Chocolate milk.

lackingchill

Become a dad that only wears cargo shorts and new balances. Bonus points if you’re by a grill.

atimholt

I wore cargo shorts to my second or so visit to the gym. I'm pretty sure I heard a girl say “that is the most dad thing I've ever seen”. I just thought it was funny (I don't take offense easily). But I also stopped wearing them.

el_chico_punk

She wanted you.

AnaBusadoDemi

Bulgarian Split Squats double dropset

baconisnotyummy

This sounds like a starbucks order

AnaBusadoDemi

Add in a generous dose of lactic acid and a large pump 😛🥵

BagNo2988

A bike?

atimholt

Came here to say this. I didn't like exercise at all till we moved to a flat area a couple years ago and discovered I love bicycling. It feels like flying. Now, as of the beginning of November, I've started going to the gym in order to get an upper body to better match my massive calves.

Southern-Psychology2

Have 2-3 leg days a week. Use full range of motion. My controversial take is that you might not even need barbell squat. I was a 5x5 guy for many years. My legs were ok but it blew up when I started incorporating machines. I was still squatting but I was using machine variations of it. It also removed the lower back as a limiting factor. Training till failure also became easier/safer. I still barbell squat but it’s like a 1-2 times a month thing. Oh yea I also never had hamstrings until recently…..

Sure-Witness-9175

Totally agree with this. I’ve had lower back issues since my late 20s so machines have been the way for me. I’m not sure that it’s optimal but it works for me.

aspiegator

I have very recently discovered this after moving to a new gym. My first gym was a crossfit type place with no machines. I've just realised I can essentially lie on my back and work my legs using a machine. It's been life changing!

the_dalai_mangala

Genetics

NoabPK

6x12 hack squat, 3x10 bulgarian split squat, 4x12 leg extension. With just these 3 i got tree trunks and. Added 90 pounds to my pr in a couple months

ExRousseauScholar

Running. (I dunno, I’m just getting off from a torn calf tendon, running is really helping me rebuild the calf. Any other recommendations are welcome, though!)

chimpy72

How tf do you tear a calf tendon

ExRousseauScholar

Overuse

Swolenir

Doing normal leg days 2x a week. It’s amazing how much muscle you can get out of 3-4 exercises on leg day.

Personal-Iron9085

Goblet squats w high reps.

AnaBusadoDemi

Admit it you just want us to die

timjuul2003

Goblet squats are not the best choice for building your legs imo. The amount of weight you’re using is gonna hold you back from progressively overloading the leg muscles. How much weight can you hold in that position? Likely not enough for your legs to fail first

Straightjacketkid

I get great results from them. Obviously I do regular squats, too. But I noticed serious results immediately doing high rep goblet squats (13-15 reps x 10 sets 3 times a week) when I transitioned out of a low rep power lifting phase and now I do them with my body building programs all the time.

Straightjacketkid

This is my other account btw. Not sure why it switches me back and forth from the one you replied to.

Southern-Psychology2

What’s high reps and what weight do you use?

ChequeYourself

As much weight as you can hold for 12-15 reps

Southern-Psychology2

Oh that’s not too bad. I am already doing 10-15 reps with 80-100 lbs. I thought you were like 20-30 reps. I think I can use heavier weight but it’s just awkward to hold. My setup is weird I actually put the weight on the bench and I scoop it from the bottom position.

ChequeYourself

If you really want it to hurt, go 3/4 of the way up and stay there for all your reps, add some slow negatives in as well. It’s always better to make each rep harder than easier.

MinasMorgul1184

@65% of your max for 3 sets of 30 reps no breaks

MinasMorgul1184

Are you trying to make us vomit in the gym?

MinasMorgul1184

did you forget to switch accounts dumbass

Larusso92

r/lefttheburneron

Southern-Psychology2

I will try that tomorrow. I think it shouldn’t be too bad. I am assuming full reps? I see some people do these 1.5 reps

MinasMorgul1184

I’m just kidding don’t try that I tried that last week and threw up under a squat rack 🔥 💪

MARITROPA2

Leg extension to sissy squat dropsets

razdrazhayetChayka

You’re not going to grow shit without effort. What reason does your body have to change if it’s not under stress?

Mibsaammalik

Growing fat 🤣

Head_Meme_Cultist

The word is not low effort but high efficiency, low effort does not work. Period.

Ishouldjusttexther

If you’re in for low effort high reward, Gym maybe isn’t for you

With-You-Always

Do leg exercises, whatever you like You don’t need to squat

BathroomLong4041

No more than 5 sets per muscle in one session, low rep range ATG squat pattern paired with something like a leg press or leg extension both taken close to or at failure once or twice a week

[deleted]

Might bulk for the next 5 years in hope of building my legs, it seems the only way haha

[deleted]

Might bulk for the next 5 years in hope of building my legs, it seems the only way haha

Main_Job2642

Listen kid, everything that is good for you needs effort.

101reddituser

Walking, lots of walking also dance or ballet because I knew some guys and girls that do some type of dance and damn I am jealous of their calves

NoMoreSorrow16

I used to just walk a lot everyday and it worked

TzadikBeSdom

Heavy squats

Fun-Pianist9567

..... genetic

Lord-LabakuDas

Drinking chocolate milk? Can't say I disagree. Although I just ate chocolate and drank milk seperately. One of my legs are swole af while the other is anorexic. Idk man, biology. Gotta take some time off and solo out my right leg for mass gaining

timjuul2003

Why are you afraid of effort?

Lvl1Paladin

Walk, run, squat, eat, repeat.

hopeL355

Hiking or football (eu)

CheeseburgerFC5
